It's a very clean and modern hostel, but solo travelers beware - it feels way more like a hotel than a hostel. There's no kitchen and basically zero social atmosphere. There are some fine common spaces, but nobody talks to anybody in them, so it's extremely difficult to meet anybody. It's basically a Holiday Inn with dorms. I wish I had read the other reviews about the dead social scene before staying here, because I would have gone for a more traditional hostel. Just know what you're getting into.

This was the first hostel I've ever stayed at and had the best experience. Really friendly and helpful staff, great location so able to walk to everything, comfy beds, clean rooms, nice food at restaurant. Really couldn't ask for anything more. I also went on a walking tour that was recommended by the hostel. The tour guide was called Erika and she was amazing! So much interesting information and gave a really good insight into Madrid. The tour was free but with an optional fee, really recommend.

Firstly, this hostel is in a lovely location. It's situated in a very rustic area of Madrid and has a very welcome facade. I booked an 8 bed mixed dorm of which 4 beds were unoccupied. The bathroom facilities were excellent due to the dorm ensuites having 3 showers per room and an area within each compartment to change. However, the cleaners only leave 1 toilet roll in the toilet per day. Between 4 people it doesn't last long - let alone 8. It was very off-putting and uncomfortable to need the toilet one morning to find that there was absolutely no toilet roll. Only a minor issue, but one that is so basic, I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up previously. This hostel is a very sociable place and it was the perfect place to meet people. The outside space is great for having a few drinks or sitting around in the sun. The staff are very friendly and attentive. All in all - a happy experience.

If you are looking for a hostel with good vibes and social interactions, just keep walking ! There is no common kitchen and very few social activities. There are sofas in the common area but most of the people are working on their computer and barely speak to each other. So if you are a solo traveler and want to meet people, that might be a problem! The rooms are clean and beds quite confortable but It is noisy. It is more a cheap hotel than a great hostel.

Great hostel in terms of cleanliness , rooms, and service. However it's more of a dorms in a hotel rather than a hostel it has no social life, no kitchen, and no amenities. Everything in the hostel is a money grab unfortunately. You cant make your own food or store food. You cant watch the match without ordering something in the bar. They refused to open the TV in the lounge just to force you to go to the bar. Storage is for a surcharge and even the pub crawl is overpriced here ( I paid more than others who were with me on the same crawl...) if you wanted a solo hostel experience while having fun then its a major disappointment

Cool modern setting. Very clean. Terrific location. Many digital nomads. Very friendly and helpful staff. Although I could have been the mother of many of the guests.. (I’m 65) I really enjoyed my first hostel experience. I recommend the all you can eat breakfast (€6) to start your day. Also offers free walking tours daily.

Good hostel but you need to pay extra for basic things like keeping your luggage in the luggage room.

The hostel is relatively expensive for a hostel. The breakfast was very basic. The design is modern and chic but the hostel was full with groups of people. It was very difficult to meet other solo travellers. The room was very small for 6 people. I wanted to leave my luggage in the lockers for the day on which I left. The Hostels employees told me that the lockers are full and that they don't have any possibility to store my luggage. This was very disappointing I have never had such an experience at any hostel previously.

This hostel is the first I have ever stayed in and it's brilliant! The service is very attentive and the people at reception are incredibly helpful. There are a few things offered to residents such as free walking tours which I highly recommend, alongside discounted flamenco shows and a pub crawl (I did not try these). The rooms are reasonable - I stayed in a four bed female dorm - with just enough space for everyone and a large sink with shelves for everyone's belongings. I suggest bringing at least one padlock for the under-bed draw and another if you want to use the locker in the room too. I would describe the beds as comfy and the rooms the perfect temperature thanks to controllable air conditioning. Another thing I liked was the little balcony with a full length window/door. As for the eating area I loved the decor and it was never too busy. I had breakfast included with my stay which involved a sufficient number of options and on my last night I tried the sake poké and sangria (a massive glass for only 4.50!) as seen in the pictures. The patio is lovely and the inside lounge area is very comfortable. I also appreciate the fact that there is no curfew for the hostel and want to mention that the cleaning staff were very quick and efficient. The location is absolutely perfect - only a few minutes from a couple of metro stations, right by the Plaza Mayor and everything is easily accessible on foot. Overall I would absolutely recommend this to others and would stay again myself. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Hands down the BEST hostel Ive ever stayed at - a five star experience ! Super clean rooms, lovely beds, quiet at nighttime, delicious breakfast, smartly designed and well thought layouts, uber easy to use machine for laundry. Staff are warm and welcoming - big shout out thanks to Pedro! The bar is also the perfect spot for an evening drink. Definitely a recommendation and will come back again someday!

Brilliant hostel!!! My dorm room had lockers, showers, a bathroom and all of the beds had privacy curtains and we're comfortable. Plenty of space to relax and socialise including a rooftop terrace and cheap bar. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful place! Very clean rooms with clean bathrooms and toilets. The decor is modern and atmospheric! The reception is opened 24/7 where you can talk with friendly personal who can recommend you places to visit! Definitely will come back again! :)

The hostel is well located, that is the only reason to stay there. The room was cold and the heating system was not working properly, we got ill after a few nights being cold. The breakfast was not enough, the quality of fruits was bad. The staff at the reception is friendly.

Great experience staying there. The staff are so helpful. So close to independent restaurants and bars. Not far from the shopping areas...clothing etc. I got the Metro to La Latina, it was a short walk to find the place. I definitely stay here again.

This hostel is one of the best I have ever stayed in. The staff is very friendly and ready to help. The atmosphere is like a hotel and makes you feel at home. The rooms are very clean. It's also centrally located in Madrid, so it's easy to explore the city on foot. If you are planning a larger excursion, you can reach your destination safely with the metro, which is just around the corner. The breakfast is varied. There are also many good restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity. I will gladly come back to the Central House.

We had a wonderful stay at this hostel! My partner and I had a private room and loved the comfort, privacy, cleanliness, decor, and air conditioning! It exceeded our expectations for a hostel. Breakfast was included and was a good-quality buffet. Staff were very helpful. Hostel common areas were very cute and spacious! They also offered free walking tours every day which were a nice touch, although we didn't have time to take one. We also loved the location in Lavapies, surrounded by cute little groceries, stores, and cute thrift stores! Would highly recommend!

Well impressed! For a family of 3 who are travelling on a budget, The Central House Madrid is a stand-out option. Friendly staff, modern and generous private rooms at a fair price and also close to the heart of the action. We only had one night but it was memorable for all the right reasons. Simply brilliant.

Great location, modern take on a hostel meets hotel. Lots of space to recreate inside and out. Nice staff. Easy locker system if you need to leave your stuff

This has been the most pleasant experience I’ve ever had at a hostel. Super fancy and modern. SO clean, kind staff, beautiful terrace and work space. Hands down the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. Will definitely be back! :)

Really nice hostel in the centre of Madrid, good value for money. Breakfast is great, the design is amazing and the location can’t be beaten. Just a few issues: top bunk in the dorm felt a bit unsafe because of a broken railing, the ensuite bathroom’s sink is not in the bathroom itself but in the room and therefore super loud during the night and storing your luggage costs extra which I found odd for a hostel. Still had a great stay, would definetely return again!

Definitely one of the best (if not the best) hostels I’ve ever stayed!! :) Perfect location, just in Latina area, super friendly and helpful staff, spacious common area and the rooms, clean bathrooms, good facilities, nice bar/restaurant, laundry available, everything you need for a good place to stay. And most importantly for travellers - good place to meet nice people!!! They also have bachata lessons and sangria lessons which are fun!!! Definitely recommended!!

I've stayed in several hostels in Madrid and this is my favourite. Rooms are incredibly modern and clean, beds and sheets are great. Nice common spaces, with plenty of tables to do work and a rooftop bar. It's not a super social hostel but it's easy enough to meet people. Location is central enough, with lots of nice shops and food nearby. Breakfast was very good by hostel standards.

Easily my favorite Hostel I’ve stayed in. I traveled Madrid for about a month, and stayed at Cats, Newton Hostel, and The Hat. None of them compared to this one for me. The space is absolutely stunning aesthetically, and the public area is great for getting work done if you’re busy like me. I do wish the location was slightly closer to Sol and central madrid, but that’s not the businesses fault. Room service is thorough and efficient, and the rooms are clean and spacious. Would absolutely recommend.

Very nice hostel, let down one thing — the families with the toddlers and young kids, spending half the day yelling in the common areas. This is by no means a party hostel, but I wasn’t expecting a childcare hostel either. On the good side — the rooms are top notch, but make sure you beg for a lower bunk if you’re older than 30.

This place was my home for two months. If there is a place that deserves all the superlatives, it is this place. From the reception staff to the cleaning staff and bar staff, they are all amazing people. The people I met here were the most amazing people I have ever met, and I always felt part of the family and I will always remember this place as an amazing part of my life. thank you for the hospitality.

The place is nice but extremely overprice (they charge you for your luggage) . There are no covid requirements. I do not recommend to buy the breakfast, it is also overprice you can find cheaper options for breakfast nearby. Pros: - Friendly staff - Good location

I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels over the years and this is a great one for all types of experiences. The venue facilitates anything you are looking for if you are looking for solitude or to socialize. I stayed in an all-female small dormitory. Very quiet and private (curtain on every bed and all spaces are clearly marked - makes you feel like you have your own space). A couple things I wasn’t used to but did not hinder the experience … there was not an overhead light (each Ed had its own light) and the sink was in the shared space instead of the bathroom.

The central House is great place to stay. Home far from home. The hospitality and the kindness of the staf is amaze me so much. Every time i will come to Madrid , this place definitely my HOME to stay. Thanks to the staf especially the receptionist, Olivia and friends. Keep up the good work. And see you again

Loved it so much I extended my stay two times! The beds are comfortable, the linens crisp, and the pillows are plush. The bathroom is updated and extremely clean. The balcony is great, too! Staff are all nice and friendly. You should stay here.

Extraordinary! I had the twin room with balcony to the street and waking up to this view was really nice. Breakfast served at Citynizer was always freshly made and delicious. Location is perfect, close to everything yet peaceful at night. Special thanks to the warm and friendly staff at the reception. Tania you are the best 💪🏽. Next stay is already booked!

I initially stayed for a weekend and eventually ended up staying an extra week! The stay could not have been better. - The staff is so welcoming and helpful; if you want to have a chat with them or get some nice tips for the city, go and reach out to them - My stay was in Sept 2021: all the Corona measures were in place and it felt very safe (gel everywhere, 75% occupancy max, very clean) - The Central House is a very modern place and everything is very well thought-through (in dormitories, you have opaque curtains for the window but also for your own bed, the beds are very comfortable, the shower is very functional with nice hot water, the walls and windows are of very good quality and soundproof - everyone deals differently with noise; I personally use earplugs and slept really well). - The lobby and the inner courtyard were really nice features of the place; there is a bit of movement so you can easily meet other guests, but it is also quiet and respectful so you can get some work done (I worked 5 days from here and it was very comfortable) - The restaurant that is attached to the Central House is also really nice. It serves nice breakfast and also tapas/menu del dia. At weekends, there is a very cool vibe going on (music, projection on the walls, nice drinks and nice crowd) - The location is my personal favourite. Lavapies is a very vibrant and cool neighbourhood. You can find many small restaurants and bars where locals gather later in the afternoon or in the evening. It is also walking distance to everywhere (15min to Gran via, 10min to Sol, 5-10 min to La Latina/Barrio de las letras). You will fall in love with Lavapies :) - The Central House is value for money! I have stayed in different places in Madrid and so far this is my absolute favourite. :)

The staff are truly exceptional and go the extra mile to make you feel at home. Tanya and Lauren were always there to welcome you with a big smile. The hostel itself is brand new, super clean, with the terrace a perfect spot for siesta or unwinding in the evening. Will definitely stay here again! Thank TCH Lavapies!

Great hostel, unbeatable location everything you want is walking distance. Excellent beds, quite big with an awesome blackout curtain and sturdy so the bunk bed doesn't wobble when people get in and out! Friendly vibe, nice shared spaces and bar

Amazing + will return. Great location. 4min walk from the metro, with high quality bakeries, bars, and restaurants all around. Well laid out dorm room with LOTS of space, window mini-terrace, and large comfortable beds with privacy curtains and outlets. Really appreciated the heavy light-blocking sound-blocking doors which also separate the bathroom, toilet, and showers (great hot water and water pressure). Cool decor and social vibe in the lobby area. Excellent WiFi (I did non-stop zooms and large file uploads and downloads for a few hours each day). Discount at the restaurant on site for tapas , meals, and drinks. My favorite hostel in Europe to date. Thank you, central house!! P.S. Extra love to the ladies at the front desk, who are absolutely LOVELY and go above and beyond to make you feel at home.

Such a beautiful, wonderful place. Everything you need in a hostel and more. The only drawback is its slightly pricey for a hostel, and there are not as many social events/spaces but I suppose you get what you pay for and this being a little more upscale, people prefer their privacy. Lovely environment through. Note that breakfasts come separate, at 6Euros which I felt a little extravagant, but you always have a choice.

Great place to stay if visiting Madrid in groups of 2-8 people! Everyone are super friendly and there are plenty of room to socialize in both the bar, reception and rooftop terrace. The rooms are big and well done. The entire place is thought through and that makes the atmosphere very cozy and laid back. 10/10

  • 4/5 Alexandra S. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent location. Walking distance to all the main attractions of Madrid with SO many coffee shops, bars and stores to explore!! The rooms are super spacious, the beds GREAT to sleep in, and the cleaning crew is always around making everything fresh. My only complains were the fact that there aren’t many activities to socialize and meet fellow travelers, no kitchen to store snacks, and not beverages or food allow in the rooms. It felt more like a hotel than a hostel. Nevertheless, a good experience!

I shared a double private room overlooking the courtyard with my husband for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay very much. The bed was firm and comfortable, clean and well appointed washroom. The staff were all helpful and very energetic. The location is also great, lots of fun options closeby. 10/10 would recommend!

Very clean bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry, and hip reception area. 24/7 customer service. Secure automated Lockers as well where you can leave large bags and suitcases. Staff are extremely helpful and let us check in a couple hours early. The bar and restaurant has great music and is really lively on the weekends; people come to wine and dine who are not evening staying, but to soak up the vibe.

Very big hostel. The rooms are nice with big beds with curtains. Big common area. No common kitchen but a restaurant with good food. Not really hostel vibe but nice for short stay for older solo travelers and for digital nomads.

The rooms are clean, beds are comfy and I love the ergonomic design of the rooms! I had a 6-bed dorm and the room had it's own shower (I think they all do). Great outdoor chill space and friendly staff. There was a few points of information left out from my check-in that I had to go back down and ask about, but the guy working there was new so no worries. I didn't choose the breakfast since there were so many places to eat nearby. The location is prime! A 4 minute walk from the metro station with restaurants, bars, and cafes all over. Would definitely recommend!

  • 5/5 Tina S. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice staff! Delicious breakfast (8am-11am!), food and drinks in the restaurant and bar. Comfortable bed and cool interior design. They have lockers in the room and lockers on the reception for rent. They have an outdoor area where you can eat, drink chill and watch movies/concerts. And there is a rooftop bar with a small pool, but no real view. Furthermore there is a snack machine in the lobby, but the hostel is located in the center. There are some supermarkets, shops, restaurants, streetart, sightseeing... nearby. They support you with travel info and activities.

  • 3/5 Michael S. 1 year ago on Google
It's a good place to stay if you want a cheap dorm room not too far away from the nightlife. Staff is friendly, rooms clean. I didn't like the social part of it, because everyone was sitting with a phone or laptop in the lobby. Makes it boring. But good stay for a couple of nights.

  • 5/5 Beata G. 1 year ago on Google
This place is ridiculously nice for a hostal. It’s super modern, clean, lots of co-working spaces, really nice bar, people are nice and they have events (although I didn’t go to any bc I had only 2 days). The rooms have powerful AC, I stayed in a 12 person room and it was so nice and quiet and dark. The bathrooms were ridiculously clean and nice. I was super sleep deprived when I got here and crashed for 13 hours in the clean and comfortable bed that’s literally nicer than my bed at home. If you book in advance, I only paid €15 a night!

This was such a great stay I definitely recommend this place. The people here are so nice and helpful. Especially the guy who helped us check in! The room we stayed in was a quadruple bed room and it was definitely spacious then what I was expecting there was also a small balcony outside to step on to see outside which was cute. Overall the room and bathroom was clean and nice they had these cubbies you could use for storage. It was located in a nice and cool area there was lots of restaurants and stores around which was nice to go and explore its on a hill type area so just keep in mind of that when walking around definitely recommend wearing sneakers in Madrid. The common area like the lobby was also a place where ppl hanged out and relaxed definitely worth going downstairs if you wanna get outta your room. There was also a restaurant next door and bar on the roof worth check out too. At night it does get a little loud which you can hear in your room but it’s nothing that’s annoying or excessively loud the balcony door seems to be sound proof👍🏽. Overall it was a great stay for the price point as well.
