Delicious food and drinks, wonderful service and ambience. Our server was Kai, and we were continuously impressed by him throughout the evening. Not only did I value his opinion in selecting my dinner options, but I loved that he could answer every random question one of us decided to ask him as he approached our table! We made references to other restaurants in SLC, food and certain words from France, Philippines, Japan, and Kai didn't miss a beat. He has got to be my favorite server of all time!

Edit: The restaurant owner personally reached out to us by phone to apologize for the overcharge as this was done in error, and even offered to reimburse the charge. It means a lot that their team would take the time and effort to make things right with us so soon after our visit. We’re very excited to try more from menu in future visits ☺️ Thank you! My husband and I dined here for the first time on our 5 year anniversary and let me tell you- the food was great! Unfortunately we left feeling unsettled with the fee we were charged for an extra portion of short rib for our single order of gnocchi. We didn’t request to know the price of the extra portion of short rib within the dish (our mistake) thinking it would be at a slightly lesser cost of the entree. To our surprise when the bill was received we had one $31.00 charge for the gnocchi and an additional $31.00 charge for the extra serving of meat. If we were being charged the full price of the entree why not supply two gnocchi dishes? It feels like we might have been taken advantage of since we didn’t request to know the price of the extra serving. It’s unfortunate because the food was so good and our server was very kind, but the check left a bad taste in our mouth.

Had reservations for four and arrived on time. Was seated immediately but the table was a little on the small side for four people and the music volume was fairly loud for having a conversation. It seemed that one half of the restaurant had the music and the other half did not. We were apparently in the wrong half this time. Orders were taken quickly and the server was very friendly. Coke products were served which was nice. All the food tasted good. But it was nothing spectacular. The gravy for the biscuits was very tasty but the biscuits themselves were kind of okay. It's definitely worth a try, but it's not high on my list to return to.

I was surprised to find such a gem in the heart of Provo. I appreciate the interior design of the restaurant and the ambiance. But most of all, I can tell the chef is passionate about what they do and genuinely inspired. It was so good and reminded me what's exciting about food. It is definitely worth going to.

my husband and I love the block! we are from out of state and don’t love the food in utah but the block is one of our spots! Surprised it doesn’t have better reviews so I had to leave one. My husband is gluten intolerant and they are SO helpful and kind with substitutes and we think the food is yummy!

I typically visit the block once a month and every single time I have an amazing experience. The food is farm to table. The service is very attentive and fast. The flavor that they are able to create in each and every plate is incredible and very hard to find in other restaurants. It tastes fresh, authentic and savory. Overall, I would highly recommend this spot. The only down fall is that it is extremely popular so sometimes they have a long wait but it’s well worth it.

This is painful to give a restaurant of what SHOULD be in the fine dining caliber a 3 star review, however. Here’s the truth. If you’re seeking an expensive, casual restaurant with unique food. This is the place for you. But it is NOT a fine dining experience whatsoever, and you should absolutely not expect it to be of the caliber of a restaurant charging the prices they do. Hostess was mildly friendly, but not super welcoming…. No problem. I rarely expect that. I was informed there was a separate menu for the bar if I wished to sit there & I opted not to since I was coming in for a more upscale dining experience. From the start I was seated, given my menu and I did not have water until the manager recognized I hadn’t been greeted for around 3 minutes or so. No problem here, as my server was with another table taking an order. The water however tasted unfiltered and mildly slimy. Big no-no of a restaurant charging a PPA of at least $65+. If I had to guess I’d say it was straight tap with no filter. Which is just unacceptable. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m one of those with a palette where I can tell how water has been filtered, fairly well. Kai, my waiter was absolutely impeccable. Terrific attitude, knowledgeable about the menu was wonderful, and frankly he was best part of this experience. I ordered the tomato soup with an upsell for $4 of garlic bread - which I wasn’t aware of, however a restaurant of “this caliber” I wouldn’t expect to ask if I’m okay with an extra $4 so that’s no problem. Both the garlic bread & tomato soup were exquisite. Bread was slightly burnt in a few areas so more crunchy than preferred, but overall flavor was *chef’s kiss* After ordering that, as well as my meal, I had to ask Kai for a cocktail / drink menu because one wasn’t provided from the hostess. This of course is quite annoying seeing that I’ve now been here 7+ minutes at this point & haven’t even seen a drink menu yet. I ordered a German beer & asked for a wine to be paired with my meal. The beer was hoppy & quite tasty. I ordered the duck breast for dinner prepared as normal and it was incredible! The pine nuts, kimchi, puréed sweet potato, all of it was delicious and carefully thought out. Duck was cooked perfectly. However….. I was halfway done with my meal before my wine came to the table, and I did not even know what the wine was because the manager did not inform me. So until I got the bill, I didn’t even know what wine I was drinking. Again, second big no-no for a restaurant of this caliber. At the end of the day I spent $95+ as a single person table, which included a 20%+ tip to Kai, as he made the experience enjoyable, regardless of the hiccups. All in all, if I had not had Kai, I probably wouldn’t return & this would be a 1 or 2 star review. Food - ***.5 Waiter - ***** Atmosphere - *** Overall service - *.5 Overall Rating - ***.2

This was our 4th visit after finding this gem. 💎! This visit was our anniversary and again, "The Block" doesn't disappoint. Locally sourced small menu that changes occasionally. I have tried things here I would never order anywhere else. It's just that good. From flavors to textures in the meal, to the small attentive staff. This experience is worth every penny!

I went there with a few girlfriends for brunch. Let’s start with: they have mimosas and other fun drinks!!! Having acquired that knowledge I don’t think I’ll be going to another place! That is a hard treat to find in Utah! The food was delicious, there was a little mistake where I got a poached egg when I had requested over hard/cooked. They rectified it right away. And overall it was just a great experience. Also I found the prices reasonable for brunch. Thank you Block Restaurant team! 😁

Had lunch here. Food was delicious, cocktails were great. Made reservations on the spot to go back for dinner tomorrow night. Update: I've been here many times and even proposed to my fiance here. This place is probably my favorite place to eat and have a few cocktails. The staff is amazing and they always go above and beyond!

Restaurant is in a weird location, but we were seated fast. I chalk that off to the reservation. The waitress was awesome and kept the drinks refilled. She also checked up on us multiple times. The bill was a bit high for 2 burgers and and an appetizer, but even with their limited menu the food we ordered was on point. Will probably go here again in the future.

Block is such a little hidden Utah gem. The food is home style American with unique flavor combinations. The short rib gnocchi was incredible- melt in your mouth tender, lean, and bursting with flavor. The duck was the best any in our party had ever had. The service is friendly and responsive.

I saw some pictures on Instagram of the food here and just had to try it. The atmosphere was wonderful, very eclectic and reminded me of San Diego. The food was good, but nothing to rave about. We paid $65 before tip. Definitely not worth that much. I would have guessed it should be more around $30 for 2. The service was HORRIBLE. Our server didn’t check in with us once. She didn’t bring us the ketchup we had asked for. We waited 45 minutes AFTER we were done eating for our check. Safe to say, we won’t be going back.

If you haven’t tried this place you need to put your phone down and run to the car. It’s THAT good. We had the potato gnocchi with short rib along with the spring pasta (my absolutely favorite by a long shot) and finished it off with the strawberry shortcake. This is the type of restaurant that literally takes your breath away after one bite. Forget about the price and prepare to be blown away. Mitchell was our server and he went above and beyond every chance he got. We were super grateful to have been served by him!

Farm to table, seasonal chef crafted meals. We started off with the Artichoke Ricotta dip and their outstanding charcuterie board featuring Spanish almonds, pickled blue berries, local goat cheese, and house made dijon mustard. For our entrées we had pan seared potato gnocchi, spring lake rainbow trout with coconut leek sauce, and the brioche bun block burger with sweet potato fries 😍 We will be back as soon as possible!

Great experience. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and drinks. They have a really big cocktail and drink menu for the bar, so you’re not short on options. We will definitely come again and recommend to our friends.

I have been here multiple times. My wife and I are obsessed and like to go here for date nights. We have also show. And recommended it to family and friends. I seriously have no cons except that it might be a little busy at times, but the food and atmosphere have always been 10/10 for the cost. They have seasonal menus that change which keep us coming back. My favorite dishes are the Marie’s Chicken, Hangar steak and almost every appetizer. Also there Breakfast much is amazing if you can catch the when open. I would highly recommend The Block Restaurant’s food and service to anyone.

We were really excited to come to this restaurant but it was a subpar experience in comparison to other restaurants with similar atmospheres and price. My husband got the steak and it was weirdly salty in some bites and the main flavor came from the sauce instead of the meat itself. I got the duck and really liked it. Overall it just wasn’t worth the price. Like it was good but not the level that it should be for how much it is.

Great food, cocktails, and service. Tables felt close together, but it’s a fairly small restaurant. It was also easier to park on the street than wrestle with the parking lot.

This restaurant, which perhaps commenced its journey as a modern American eatery, has a lot to offer with its cozy ambiance and an eclectic menu. The service is impeccable, and most of the menu items, like the tender braised short rib paired with delicate gnocchi, exhibit a fine blend of comfort and sophistication synonymous with American cuisine. However, amidst this well-curated menu lies the Curried Oxtail—a dish that seems to veer off the established culinary path. Although presented as Jamaican-style, the potent curry flavors align more with an Indian palate. I surmise the intent might be to diversify the menu, yet this particular dish feels more like a nod to a different culinary tradition rather than a coherent part of the American-themed menu. I understand the culinary dilemma—offering an oxtail dish that doesn’t mirror the braised short rib is a challenge. Yet, I believe there might be other preparations of oxtail that could seamlessly blend with the overarching American theme, should it remain the focus. Despite this minor divergence, the allure of this establishment is strong, and I am eagerly awaiting my next visit to savor more of the delectable dishes on offer.

I went here yesterday to do a food review. The lady who sat us was lovely and nice. Our food on point. Delicious and well thought out. Your appetizers were not the main dish and the main was not stuffing you full. The atmosphere was comfortable and lively full of music and chatter. However that is were the good things stop. I understand being busy but our server was more attentive to other tables than ours. Every time she passed she was checking on other tables. The only time we got checked on was when we got our food and when they gave our drinks refills. I don't know if it was our clothes or how we looked age wise but this honestly has made it so that I don't want to come back. Service should be equal to all across the board.

The food is superb ! Everything felt like an explosion of Flavors and freshness in your mouth. The service is amazing, as they are able to recommend food off the menu according to whatever you may be craving And they simply radiate great energy which makes you want to stay. Ambiance is cool too.

We had heard and read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Our server was amazing and suggested the pork belly as a starter and it was off the chain. I should have quit while I was ahead. My friend ordered the trout and I ordered the pork. The presentation of both was phenomenal. However, both of our dishes arrived a little cold.. both of the main courses has super Blehhh flavors. For dessert we some yogurt citrus thing that was ok. Honestly in the over $100 for two people there are other places I would choose first.
