Belvan village is very famous for its old historical and mythological values. There is a very famous Goddess Laxmi Temple on the bank of river Yamuna. It is a pilgrimage as well as a step in "84 kosh Brijyatra". A huge fair and exhibition is organised in the month of Paush(Hindu calender) every year. People from all around the world come to visit this place and get KRIPA of goddess Laxmi.

The village is famous for a divine place where Shri Laxmi is meditating till date on Lord Krishna. The village is very old and mostly occupied by farm and animal husbandry and farming is the main occupation here. The roads are narrow with farms on both the side. It is around 12 kms from main Vrindavan city. At the temple of Mahalaxmi one cane get a Beautiful darshan of Mahalaxmi Maa.it is said that when the Maharaas Leela of Lord Krishna with Radha and Gopis was about to take place, Mother Laxmi the Goddess of wealth and prosperity and the consort of Lord Vishnu desired to see the Maharaas Leela and witness her husband Lord Krishna the divine form of Lord Vishnu as Supreme personality, she was stopped by Gopis the cowherd boys from entering Vrindavan and said that this is the place of Shrimati Radha and without her wish no one can enter Vrindavan and behold Lord Krishna. Mother Laxmi took a seat under an amorphophallus or Bel tree and started meditating on Lord Krishna for his vision in real divine form. Lord Krishna appeared infront of him as a baby but not in his divine form which he took during Rasaleela or the Dance of Love. It Is said that Mother Laxmi is in a constant meditation on Lord Krishna and her darshan or visit at her temple at this place gives one mercy of Lord Krishna and is blesssed with devotion. She also bless her devotees with wealth and prosperity. Once Krishna and Gopas were in this place as small child and all the Gopas desired to eat Bel.krishna played his flute and there were sweet ripe bel everywhere.They enjoyed the bel and since then the name of this forest came to be known as Belvan. It Is around 8 kms towards South from Maath village 8n Vrindavan and can be reached by road or by boat after crossing Yamuna.my suggestion would be to take road to reach early.Every Thursday there is fair or mela at the temple and there is a huge rush of devotees.Roads are good fromVrindavan but the last 2,3 kms is very narrow and broken as it crosses Belvan village.
