Great
Tour,
Great
Country,
Great
People.
We
wanted
an
8
day
Silk
Road
tour
-
flying
to
Tashkent,
fast
trains
to
Samarkand,
Bukhara,
old
Russian
train
to
Khiva
(not
recommended,
but
we
foolishly
insisted)
and
then
flying
from
Khiva
to
Istanbul.
Zarina
from
Anur
tours
was
incredible
-
suggesting
easier
transportation,
adding
activities
to
round
out
the
experience,
problem
solving
when
we
wanted
a
difficult
change.
Here
is
the
summary
of
our
experience:
-
We
learned
an
incredible
amount
of
history,
saw
some
wonderful
sights
and
gained
an
appreciation
of
Uzbekistan.
-
We
stayed
in
small
gorgeous
hotels
in
the
center
of
each
city.
Kosh
Havuz
in
Samarkand
and
Arqanchi
in
Kiva
were
just
incredible.
Breakfasts
in
all
hotels
were
delicious
and
plentiful
buffets.
We
ended
up
skipping
lunches.
-
Tour
guides
and
drivers
in
each
city
were
flexible
with
scheduling
and
offered
us
extra
time
to
show
off
their
cities.
-
Drivers
in
each
of
4
cities
were
perfectly
timely
for
pick-up
and
drop
off
even
late
at
night
or
early
morning.
A
few
spoke
enough
English
to
add
to
the
information
provided
by
a
tour
guide.
-
2
of
the
tour
guides
were
great,
and
the
guide
in
Khiva,
Salomat,
was
just
incredible.
All
had
encyclopedic
knowledge,
and
pride
in
their
history
and
country.
-
Zarina
added
2
cooking
master
classes
to
our
schedule.
In
the
Samarkand
master
class
we
ate
at
the
chef/owners
house
and
not
only
learned
how
to
cook
but
also
had
one
of
the
best
meals
in
Uzbekistan
-
People
everywhere
were
incredibly
friendly,
helpful
and
very
curious
about
America.
I
guess
a
thousand
years
of
welcoming
Silk
Road
caravans
embeds
in
culture.
To
summarize:
book
with
Anur
tours,
trust
Zarina’s
advice
and
discover
a
hidden
gem
of
a
country.
Enjoy!
