One of the three madrasahs that make up the Registan complex. The architecture is simply incredible. Look at the intricate artwork on the four sides of the courtyard. The gold work in the mosque area is stunning and its dome is in fact not a dome but a flat surface, but the painter has created an optical illusion. Wonderful building.

The 'newest' of the three madrassahs, completed in 1660. The name Tilla-Kari means decorated in gold. The entire building is lavishly decorated with various herbal ornaments and linear patterns. The interior is simply stunning and beautiful. Definitely deserves a visit

Ten years later the Tilya-Kori (Persian: طلاکاری, meaning "Gilded") Madrasah was built. It was not only a residential college for students, but also played the role of grand masjid (mosque). It has a two-storied main facade and a vast courtyard fringed by dormitory cells, with four galleries along the axes. The mosque building (see picture) is situated in the western section of the courtyard. The main hall of the mosque is abundantly gilded.

Beautiful madrassah with the famous blue and golden dome. If you stand just beneath it, you can capture all of the geometric shapes. There are also all the typical shops selling similar items as the other two madrassahs including suzanis, jackets, paintings, etc. Worthwhile if only for the gorgeous dome!

Nice The Registan was the heart of the ancient city of Samarkand of the Timurid Empire, now in Uzbekistan. The name Rēgistan (ریگستان) means "sandy place" or "desert" in Persian The Registan was a public square, where people gathered to hear royal proclamations, heralded by blasts on enormous copper pipes called dzharchis - and a place of public executions. It is framed by three madrasahs (Islamic schools) of distinctive Islamic architecture. The square was regarded as the hub of the Timurid Renaissance Thanks 😘

One of three main parts of Registan complex. This one has the best garden, imo. There are a lot of souvenir shops inside. I advise you visit it both during the day and in the evening, as the impression can be different. Best photos are made during the day, but most fun is in the evening, when music and lights show takes place.

Amazing place to visit, huge arches and columns, decorated by beautiful tiles. Full of visitors and tourists. You can easily go there early in the morning and comeback in the evening by fast train from Tashkent. You must try original Samarkandi brad (Nan) there.

This is the most amazing of the 3 madras of the complex. There is inside the residential college an impressive mosque with golden astonish decoration. Worth to spend time in this place and admire the unimaginable details. The madras was constructed in 1646-1660 by the ruler Yalangtush Bakhodur.

The pearl of the city; a square with three of the world’s oldest madrasas, worth visiting both at day and at night . This central square THE most iconic sight of Samarkand and Uzbekistan. There are 3 stunning madrassahs framing the square. The Tilya-Kori Madrasah is the middle one. This madrasah has a 2-storied main façade, a courtyard surrounded by dormitory rooms and a mosque in the western section of the courtyard.

The building in the image is the Tilla-Kari Madrasah, located in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It is a 17th-century madrasah, which is an Islamic educational institution. The Tilla-Kari Madrasah is known for its elaborate tilework and mosaics, which are visible in the blue and gold ceiling you mentioned. The building is considered to be one of the finest examples of Timurid architecture. Its an amazing architecture ❤️piece and beautiful place ❤️Sure, here is a review of Tilla Kari Masjid: Tilla Kari Masjid, also known as the Mosque of Gold, is a stunning architectural masterpiece located in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It was built in the 15th century by Timurid ruler Ulugh Beg and is renowned for its exquisite tilework, intricate calligraphy, and impressive dome. The interior of the mosque is adorned with vibrant blue, green, and gold tiles that depict geometric patterns and floral motifs. The mihrab, a niche that indicates the direction of Mecca, is particularly beautiful, featuring intricate calligraphy and delicate muqarnas ornamentation. The dome, towering over the main hall, is covered in gold leaf, giving the mosque its namesake. Tilla Kari Masjid is not only a beautiful monument but also a significant historical site. It served as a major religious center during the Timurid era and continues to be an important place of worship for Muslims today. The mosque is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the finest examples of Timurid architecture in the world. If you are ever in Samarkand, I highly recommend visiting Tilla Kari Masjid. It is a truly awe-inspiring place that will leave you with a lasting impression.

(Translated by Google) It was a breathtaking beauty. The contrast of gold and blue was the most shocking of the decorative beauty we have seen so far. I think with the highest point of the decorative beauty that the religiousness and the art created, I am selfish. If possible, I would like to bring in a futon and look down while lying down. Beyond the turning back of life, I wonder how many more such beauty can be seen. The construction of the Tilla-Kori Madrassah was commenced in 1646 by the order of the Samarkand ruler Yalangtush Bakhadur and was finished only in 1660. It is the final building in the Registan architectural Ensemble. It was built on the site of caravan-saray, which had existed for over two centuries. The name of the Madrassah is derived from the rich golden decoration on the faсade. “Tilla-Kori” is translated as “decorated with gold”. Square-shaped building of the Madrassah fills the whole area between the Ulugbek Madrassah and the Sher-Dor Madrassah. The façade, faced to the square is symmetrical and consists of the high portal and two floors of arched niches, flanked with towers. Khudjras (cells), intended for students, look on the large inner yard. The entire building is lavishly decorated with various herbal ornaments and linear patterns. The major part of decoration was lost, but due to efforts of restorers it was recovered in the second half of XX century. In 2001 this beautiful monument of the Central-Asian architecture was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the western part of the Madrassah there is the mosque, crowned with the big glazed dome. Its inner decoration amazes by the quality of the gold, applied by the method of “kyndal”. For a long time this mosque was the main mosque in Samarkand.

The Tillya-Kori Madrasah was a remarkable building with a number of special features. One of them is a façade richly decorated with gilding, which gave the madrasah its euharmonic name. Furthermore, the madrasah territory includes a Cathedral Juma Mosque. The surfaces of its walls and vault as well as the madrasah façade were decorated with gold, applied by “kundale” technique (polychromatic colourwash painting with gilt ornamental ectypes). The mosque at the Tillya-Kori Madrasah was built specially for the students who were undergoing training there: they could pray every day, in the comfort of the institution.

(Translated by Google) 200 years after the death of Uluğbey, a second madrasa was built as a copy of the first madrasah by the order of Yalangtuş Bahadur, the ruler of Samarkand, and it was named as Şer-Dor Madrasah. The only difference is that in the new madrasah there are two additional training halls to be used in winter. The main structure is the same as the first madrasah. A few years later, the third madrasa, the Tilla-Wife, was built again by the same administrator. Although its external appearance is similar to the other two madrasas, the inner structure of this madrasah is slightly different. The madrasas were built on the same plan. A four-cornered garden, four terraces and rooms lined up around the perimeter. The doors of the rooms are made especially low to emphasize respect and humility, which is an important feature of the Islamic religion. When entering and exiting through the doors, you must always tilt your head. Not only was it used as a Complex for students, it was also used as the Great Mosque. The façade was a two-storey building with a large inner courtyard, which was connected by four galleries, each consisting of student bedrooms. As seen in the picture above, the mosque was located on the west side of the courtyard. The main road of the mosque was adorned with lots of gold plating.

(Translated by Google) Tilla-Kari Madrasah (Uzbek Tilla Qori madrasasi - Gilded madrasa) is a cult, spiritual, educational and educational building of the XVII century in Samarkand on Registan Square. It is the latest building on the square and together with the Ulugbek Madrasa and the Sherdor Madrasa forms a complete architectural ensemble. In 2001, among other attractions of Samarkand, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The construction of the Tilla-Kari madrasah began in 1646 on the orders of the specific ruler (hakim) of Samarkand Yalangtush Bahadur, descended from the Uzbek family of alchin [1] [2] [3] on the site of the Mirzoi caravan-shed with partially using its foundations and walls. By the time construction began, Samarkand’s mosques (Bibi-Khanym and Alike Kukeltash) lay in ruins, and when designing, it was decided to combine a high spiritual school and a juma mosque in the building of a madrasa. Construction and finishing works lasted 14 years and were completed in 1660 after the death of Yalangtush Bahadur. Probably for this reason, the decoration of some elements of the madrasa was done with noticeable negligence, and the outer dome of the Tilla-Kari mosque was never completed. The construction of the Tilla-Kari madrasah completed the design of the Registan Square and gave the architectural ensemble located here a finished look. In the XIX century the building of the madrasa was damaged by a strong earthquake. The entrance portal was particularly affected. Its upper part collapsed along with the tympanum. By order of Amir Haydar portal was restored, but without a tiled finish. By the beginning of the 20th century, most of the facing of the madrasa was lost. Restoration work began in the 20s of the XX century, when efforts were made to save the surviving fragments of the decor. In the early 1930s, work was carried out to restore the cladding of external facades. In 1950-1958, the courtyards of madrasahs and the drum of the dome of the mosque were restored. In the first half of the 70s, the decor of the tympanum of the main portal was restored and the outer dome of the mosque was erected. In 1979, the restoration of the interior painting of the mosque was completed. Currently, the Tilla-Kari madrasah houses the exposition of the museum of restoration of Registan Square.
