Food and design meet at Philos Athens. Located in a mural-filled neighborhood, Philos is inside a 1930s artist gallery. The walls are slightly cracked, but it fits the design. My friends and I met up at Philos at 10.00 on a Friday in August. Here’s our experience. 1) Food: The menu is a home run with enough savory and sweet items. The Benedict was delicious with the perfect flavor of sauce and a little crunch with the crispy onions on top. My wife loves the French Toast and the apple pancakes are well prepared too. 2) Drinks: Coffee, juice, beer, this place has it all. My flat white proves that the coffee program isn’t an after thought at Philos. It’s top notch! 3) Service: It’s efficient and professional. 4) Space: If you love design, this place is for you. They even have a rack it design and architecture magazines.

As most people have said on here, the venue inside is quite small, however we walked in and got a table for brunch straight away. The interior is indeed very chique, natural and has a real bare-bones feel about it. There are lots of plants, and the tiled floor is from the original building thay the cafe now occupies. Both the food and coffee were fantastic and will definitely return. It is a bit of a hidden gem.

I’ve been meaning to visit this place for quite a while now. We only had the table available for 2 hours and even though my friends arrived half hour later, we waited for our brunch for 45minutes after we ordered, and we were served only after I have asked. I understand it’s a busy place - don’t come unless you made a reservation- but kitchen should be more organized. Staff was very polite and attentive. Space and interior were up to my style but toilet should not be just one for the amount of tables they serve. Also, mimosas were disappointing for 12 euros each. Comments are made on the positive side as I’d love to visit again and perhaps see I had only visited on a bad day.
