Great saganaki - must eat it right away. The lamb kebab is amazing. The service was wonderful too. It was in a nice and quiet alleyway. I would absolutely return again. The complimentary water and dessert was awesome too.

We discovered this delightful restaurant almost by accident, in Esopou 4. The reference to Rooster comes from the remarkable singing skills of the owners, lots of years ago, when the restaurant was only a wine shop. Before talking about the food I would like to underline the absolute politeness of all the staff, we have appreciated the manners and the courtesy. Uncommon everywhere. The food is truly amazing. No flavor is strongly preponderant over the others, on the contrary a true experience is perceived in balanced tastes. The meats have the softness and juiciness that come from perfect cooking. Not a minute more, not a minute less. We had light lunches with various salads and dined with memorable grills but always had great memories. Last, but not least, the bill has always been with a high ratio between what consumed by us and how much we paid. Much lower than some restaurants, perhaps more visible, where you are almost pushed in and where you eat much much lower quality food.

What a treat! Literally some of the best tasting and freshest pasta I’ve had in my life! Highly recommend the pasta with a white sauce and bacon. The Mousakka was also super delicious. This was our last meal in Athens and it was absolutely wonderful! Great hospitality, nice patio ambiance, and quality ingredients!

Highly recommended! A cute restaurant with delicious food and nice waiters. Personally, the options for desert are quite limited but the options for starters and mains are great! Also the decoration inside is very cute and gives a lovely atmosphere to the place. Especially, I really liked the aubergine salad, it was delicious!

The restaurant is separated from the most turistic streets and thanks to that is more quiet than other places. The decoration inside is pretty and staff was really nice :) The food was delicious and the prices were good. At the end we got free dessert and red wine with honey and spices.

Very nice, authentic Greek restaurant! We saw many locals eating here, which means it must be good. It was in a great location - with a relaxed feel to it. The servers were attentive and friendly. The food was delicious! The portions were generous - we definitely over-ordered. The honey / spiced cheese balls were fabulous, but honestly everything was tasty. We had the apple pie for dessert - which was also very good. We highly recommend dining here - and will be back if we are ever in Athens again!

This is a typical Greek taverna-type of restaurant with an excellent ratio of quality to price. Sometimes, when you try a new tavern, you might be let down by the food or by the atmosphere or (rarely) by both. In this case though, we were pleasantly surprised with the home-made dishes that we tried, the beautiful decor and the nice music. TIP: being an amateur bread maker, I can honestly say that the bread served here (a sourdough bread reminiscent of Cretan farmer's bread) is one of the best you can find anywhere in Athens.

By far the best restaurant I have been to in Athens! Everything we got was delicious, the staff were friendly, and all in a super cozy environment. Very authentic restaurant, especially considering all the other tourist traps close by.. walk a little bit past that main drag and it will 100% be worth it. We got there at 7:30 and there was no one else there, by 8:30 it was completely packed, so try to get there early.

My wife and I went for dinner at Krasopoulio tou Kokkora under the recommendation from our hotel staff. It did not disappoint! Located 5 minutes from the Plaka area, this restaurant was a great dining spot with delicious meal choices at great prices. The first thing I noticed was that the restaurant staff did not approach tourists walking by to solicit any guests (unlike many other restaurants in the area). The food speaks for itself. The mousaka was incredible and the kebabs were savoury and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to have a traditional Greek meal in the Plaka area. Thank you to the staff for treating us so well!

Second time eating here!! The food continues to be very tasty and the portions sufficient. However the prices have hit the ceiling, I believe this is a raise of about 15-20% since last time. The oil on the Greek salad was nonexistent and generally 42 euros for 2 main courses, a salad and a small appetizer is way too much.

I completely recommend those place. It’s an authentic traditional restaurant with a great variety of typical greek dishes. We had some Baked Feta and Pita as an appetizer, some traditional salads and an incredibly delicious Slow cooked Lamb with herbs and spices. To finish in greatness, we had a kind of traditional apple pie with vanilla ice cream, that was one of the best deserts ever. Everything was incredibly tasty, we are going tomorrow again for lunch. 100% recommended, you won’t regret going here! Congrats to the crew, amazing people also.

We came here because Google reviewers said there is vegetarian moussaka- THIS IS NOT TRUE- the waiter notified us they haven’t had veggie version for the past 2 years. The food is excellent otherwise and our friend enjoyed the veggie pasta.

The fact that this place exists since 1905 tells a lot... the food is great, the location is great and the service is great. The portions of the main dishes are very big, so take it under consideration when ordering. It's a traditional greec food made in an excellent way... also, uozo makes everything much better... make sure you order some.

Super chill, but AMAZING Greek food. We ordered Souvlaki, grape leaves, tzatziki, and a bunch of other things. The service is fantastic, and I just Shazammed some sick Jazz, which created the most memorable ambiance: “Lilies of the Valley” by Jun Miyake And the pita is to die for. Hot and fresh!

Quick and friendly service at a low price. We had half a liter of house wine, a cheesecake and kebab for 19€. The cheesecake was delicious, but definitely share it because it's very sweet.

Definite recommendation for everybody looking for a cozy restaurant with original good greek cuisine! It is situated in a quiet street right near the centre, cozy and comfortable, perfect for lunch or dinner. The service was quick and polite, the food was great - we've eaten croquettes with feta cheese and fried tomatoes, the moussaka is excellent and it's made in the original way (the cinnamon makes it taste amazing!), the chicken tigania was seasoned and cooked perfectly and the deserts (apple pie with ice cream and cretan cheesecake with honey) came warm and fresh - sweet ending to a great lunch.

The best food I've ever eaten, and at a very very reasonable price! The staff were very kind and allowed us to sample halvas and a special red wine with honey and cinnamon. We had stuffed grape leaves, zucchini croquettes, moussaka, and beef lamb kebab. I can't decide which one was my favourite. The best experience of our time in Athens! Thank you Kokkora!

Greek salad was fantastic, while the chicken very greasy. Overall, I was going to leave an average review, but at the end of the meal they brought me a little cake and some mulled wine, which were such a nice touch!

Enjoyed our last meal in Athens here and it was one of the best meals we had during our entire trip to Greece. The chicken souvlaki was extremely flavorful and juicy. The cheese filled loukoumades were so delicious and I nearly finished the entire plate myself. The complimentary dessert was a perfect way to end our trip to Greece. Would definitely recommend Krasopoulio tou Kokkora to anyone!

We loved this place! Our waiter was born in Chicago and moved to Athens when he was 10. His English is excellent and he guided us to some delightful dishes. My favorite appetizer was the oven baked feta with honey and sesame seeds. My wife had their speciality, which is a chicken leg and thigh in a delicious red sauce with mushrooms. I would definitely return here if I get back to Athens.

Great spot and quick service, shared several dishes and everything was fresh. The pita was delicious. Really enjoyed the Greek salad and Tzatziki. They brought out a free shot at the end as well. Will be coming back.
