Very friendly service, excellent BBQ, great sides, and HUGE portions. We got the 2 meat + 2 sides plate and it was big! We had sausage (three links + grilled onions + three hot dog buns), ribs (3 or 4 huge bones + two slices of bread), mac & cheese, and baked beans (with ground meat mixed in). It was more than two hungry travelers could share!

I’ve tried bbq in many place but this one was excellent. The sausage was the best I’ve ever tried. This is a must stop place, those grills are literally on fire.

Stopped by Sam's while passing through Valdosta. This was the absolute best barbecue I have ever had. We walked in and Sam put together an enormous sampler of all his meats and sides. Not one of the options is less than incredible. The BBQ was all perfectly cooked, and Sam's homemade sauce could be enjoyed out of a shot glass. I cannot recommend this place enough and eagerly await my next visit. Sam is clearly a man whose food is his pride and joy, and it shows in the end result.

This place in an institution and I can see why. It’s got a down home family vibe about it and serves quality food East for reasonable prices. I gotta say the chicken was a bit salty and the skin was gummy and the beans were so so. The real star here is the ribs. The ribs must be what ole Sam used to win all them trophy’s on the wall. They have a perfect texture and taste and leave you wanting more. Bring your cash as cards are not needed or welcome..that’s how you know it’s real deal.

I am a truck driver that was loading across the street smelling this all day. From the friendly and welcoming greeting to the excellent food made for an awesome experience. It will be well worth the slight detour from the interstate in the future to visit again.

I never leave reviews, but if you have the chance you gotta stop at Sams. The food was seasoned so well, everything just tasted so good. They gave us a sample size of everything that was enough to fill you up.The pulled pork had such a distinct flavor and was amazing. The ribs were falling off the bone and so juicy. The sausage was fresh and flavorful. But the Mac and cheese, definitely one of the best parts of the meal, complimented everything so well and amazing as a stand alone. Do yourself a favor and stop at Sam’s.

Per my husband (I'm vegetarian) the sausage and pulled pulled pork were amazing and the pulled pork was a massive portion. The Mac and Cheese was beyond weird. Some bites were ridiculously sweet, and others I can't even describe. Even my husband was appalled when he tried it. We got a large and ate like maybe 8 bites and just couldn't do it anymore. So if meat is your thing they're awesome, 5 stars. Mac and Cheese oh and stale Key Lime Cake, I'd pass.

Good like your Uncle Leroy's barbeque 😂😂😂. Ribs have a good smoked & grilled taste. I'm not a fan of smothering meat in sauce, but it's decent. Potato salad, baked beans, sauce were good just a little sweet. My wife LOVED IT!!! Mr. Watts is a very nice owner. I really enjoyed talking with him. By the way, that's a RIB SANDWICH!!! I only wish I could have the ribs with sauce on the side....so I can REALLY judge the barbeque. I will request it next visit. 👍🏾

We can't recommend Sam's high enough. Food is smoked to perfection w pecan wood out front. We had ribs, sausage, pulled pork, chicken, mac and cheese, pickle slaw, beans and potato salad...which was a "sampler" from Sam himself! Sauce was outstanding not too sweet. Sam's is the real deal and to visit with himself makes it even better! Best bar b que we had in the south.

My first time (have been eyeing it for a while on Local Eats) finally got a free minute to stop by. Ribs excellent, no accident there: alot of work goes into them obviously. Can't wait to get back into town to give them another go, perhaps the BBQ chicken next time! Thank you guys, excellent meal (well... two actually, would never eat it all in one sitting! 😅) Cheers!

Sam’s is THE best place to stop for BBQ. I’ve been to hundreds of places all around the south and the US. Sam’s is easily in the top three places I’ve ever been to. We tried all the sides and all the meats and everything is perfect. The mac and cheese is the best I’ve ever had anywhere, though. The ribs and sauces were all very good, too! The pictures I took do not give the dishes their due justice. But to top it all off, Sam gives the most friendly, down home service that you just can’t get hardly anywhere anymore. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone. You cannot go wrong with any of Sam’s delicious BBQ!

Iam a truck driver and have been all around the country trying barbecue. I smelled this driving down the road too one of my drops and had to try it. I ordered the rib plate and man this was the best ribs I have ever had in my life. I brought some to my wife who don’t even like ribs and she was amazed. I will definitely make this one of my spots when I come through Valdosta. Do not sleep on this place it’s a must try

How have we lived here for five years and not tried this place yet? Prices were extremely reasonable (our meal for a family of 5 cost less than most fast-food runs!) and my husband said the service was fantastic. The pulled pork and mac and cheese were delicious. He even threw in some ribs to try and they were great as well. Will definitely be back.

Best BBQ ever!!! I smelled the food from across the street. I asked Sam what’s good. He gave me a sample of everything! Ribs, pulled pork, chicken wings, mac & cheese, pork & beans, potato salad and cole slaw. Everything is awesome, but I recommend asking for the sauces on the side. Sam says he doesn’t advertise, so pass the word along. This place is a gem!

Before I speak about the tastiest, most amazing barbecue on the planet, I want to mention the man behind the barbecue: Sam. All who enter the building are greeted warmly by the pleasant owner, whose focus is primarily providing a perfect meal for his customers. Clearly, he understands that his business depends on warmth, care, and killer food, and he produces it all. And he has a heart for people. Thank you, Sam! Sam's offerings are the top of the line in authentic smoked and southern sides. His meats are consistently smoky, with perfect blends of seasoning and sauce--never overbearing, always tender! Yeah, sides are part of the meal, but Sam's MAKE the meal! I'm lukewarm on mac n cheese, as there's so much mediocrity in this dish. Sam's is loaded with sharp cheddar, with that nice baked layer of cheese on top. YUM! Potato salad and cole slaw are house made from scratch, and without fancy adornment--just like grandma used to make. I live in Maine, but factor in Sam's every trip when I visit my mother in Valdosta--Sam's gets me there more often! And it's really tough having a hankering for Sam's bbq so far away. I'll be back for more in three weeks! Thank you so much!

Chicken and ribs were awesome. Seasoned just right. However the Side dishes were not made from scratch. Very disappointed with potato salad, Mac & cheese and the BBQ sauce taste like ketchup with vinegar not tasty at all.... Overall staff was very friendly.

Sam is such a fantastic person & my family loves his delicious food! My mom died recently and he came to the funeral. She was a regular customer and it warmed my dad's heart, along with the whole family to see him there. He does so much for the community and is simply, a wonderful human being. If you want to support someone who deserves it, this is where you want to go!! Sam, God speed & Love!!

First time here, everyone was friendly. Generous food portions was the winner for me here. Solid ribs, Mac and cheese, and potato salad.

Simple and awesome BBQ. As soon as you walk up, you know its exactly what you want. I've lived in TX and MO and Sam's is some of my favorite, especially for the price. Good sides and dessert too. Do yourself a favor and buy a jar of their mustard and put it on everything. Best BBQ chicken I have ever eaten, hands down! I will go back everytime I'm down here visiting family.

Best BBQ I’ve ever had! The owner is beyond generous and friendly. The ribs are tender and flavorful, and the potato salad is delicious, as were all the sides. Highly recommend. (Not a lot of indoor seating so best for take out.)
