Best Sunday roast I’ve ever had! Not only was the staff very welcoming, but the food was just delicious! The freshness and the quality really stood up; both roast & dessert were excellent! If you are looking for a great Sunday roast, look no further! Highly recommended!!

Very nice pub. There was a large group of us who had Sunday lunch here. The pub had very good air conditioning upstairs, on what was a very hot day. Food was served promptly. The roasts were especially good. Not much space to sit outside if you are in a large group.

Nice enough pub, very well presented and the staff are very nice. Just wanted to warn about the potato “salad” which was just a plate of potatoes (see picture). Putting the word salad in the menu description led me to believe this was going to be a proper meal with other vegetables, but no - and this was in the “Mains” section of the menu. Also, the beef dripping chips looked and tasted a lot like standard oven chips. For £5 I felt like I’d been had!

The food was very good, but the wait was excessive. We got there at 16:00 on a Tuesday, and found out that the kitchen closed from 15:45 to 17:00. That wasn't a problem. We waited, and had some drinks while the pub filled up more and more. At 17:00 we placed our food order, and continued to wait. And wait. It took an hour and a half after placing our order, and following up on it, to receive our food. It was delicious, and bigger than expected, but just took so much longer than we anticipated. Staff was very friendly through the entire process, and the atmosphere was nice.

Had dinner and drinks here on a Sunday. The menu is different because they offer Sunday roast. The fish and chips were perfectly cooked. Also had the sourdough and Camembert. Very good. The drinks were priced about right and they poured fairly. I could not use the app to order drinks because it wouldn’t take my phone number. The bartender said he preferred we ordered through him anyway. Nice place.

This is a great pub to pop into as it has plenty of seating and good service. I haven't been here during busy times though so not sure how it changes. Lovely roof terrace and a small garden also which is a rarity in the local area. Being charged £7.40 for a pint is never going to sit right with me BUT it was good and just last weekend I was charged much the same somewhere else and the lager was so bad that I told them to take it back and left for a different pub. I haven't tried the food yet but it certainly smells good.

Really nice place located a 5 minute from Victoria train station. Warm, welcoming atmosphere, traditional British pub decor done smartly. 2 Nice little terrace areas, one smoking, one not. Didn't stay for food, just had a quick drink soon after opening time, hence why it was quiet but it had soon filled up by the time we left. Friendly, Helpful and efficient staff, especially the young lady who served us, thanks.

Lovely and helpful personal. Nice warm place with almost home atmosphere. Delicious kitchen, good selection of alcohol and beers. ;)

I had the plant burger with fries which were excellent indeed, exceeded expectations. Others with me had steak and mash potatoes with sausages and they all commented how great the food was. Pricey but likely standard for the area. Nice ambience and space inside too.

January 2024. 5pm. London Victoria station. While waiting for the bus I spent about an hour in this pub that about 10 minutes walking from station. Yes, Sunday evening was a bit busy. But the atmosphere here is good and really tasty Sunday roast. I ordered chicken with thyme, served with baked potatoes, parsnips and greens for £21. Ready in about 15 minutes. Recommend it👍

This pub has a really nice feel to it and is very pretty. We had dinner in the upstairs part which was beautiful. There’s also an outside covered terrace that looked really lovely. The food was really tasty and artfully presented. Only thing that let it down was that the scallops were a bit over cooked. Paige served us and she was very attentive and friendly, she made an Old Fashioned for my husband, even though it wasn’t on the cocktail menu.

The pie main was a pisstake. £18 for a slice of pie with no sides at all on the "mains" list. For context there was also a lamb roast on the menu for £18 also. Two of our group order the roast but they had ran out so this was the alternative. We can only think that the kitchen ran out of ingredients and didn't bother to say. Avoid.

Best pub in Victoria! Staff are very friendly & attentive. They have a different menu now they have reopened and I love it so much! Lots of variation & great tasty vegan / veggie options. Can’t wait to go back!!

Food was tasty though, fair prices. Excellent and friendly service. It didn’t really feel like an authentic pub to be honest, apparently they recently opened again after a short closure.

I wasn’t too amazed. The food was totally overpriced - almost £20 for a chicken burger. The burger itself was underwhelming, almost no sauce, barely any taste. Disappointing. Also it was only 1pm and already some of the tap beer options were not available. On top of that, the door to the pub were open most of the time, so it was freezing cold inside. Probably won’t come back.

What a lovely place to have a couple of drinks after work, old style pub. Set amongst the back drop of cardinal place a very modern shopping centre. A great selection of beers and wine. With a restaurant to boot, also a stones throw from Victoria station. Not bad at all

Lovely, lively pub close to Victoria Station. A very good chose for the 50th Anniversary of dear friends. Great balcony and bar upstairs an friendly service.

4 ex-work colleagues met here for chat, drinks and food. We were upstairs and had a lovely time. The service was friendly and attentive, and the place was comfortable. No complaints about the food although I thought the burger and chips were slightly small for the cost.

We ate at the Phoenix twice during our week in London, partly because it was only steps from our hotel and partly because it was recommended by the "foodie" on the hotel staff. We enjoyed the fish and chips and other dishes along with the pub atmosphere. The restaurant seems to be most popular as an after-work hangout as it was far busier on a Tuesday than on a Saturday. Recommended.

Sad to say I had a terrible experience here at Phoenix. Having worked hard all morning on Remembrance Sunday, a large group of us came and took a seat in the terrace garden upstairs. As we didn't have a reservation we were advised we had to go downstairs to order. Whilst this was an inconvenience we understood and did as instructed. We were met with what could only be described as disdain by the bar staff downstairs. We tried to order food but as we didn't have our table number (which was displayed in tiny writing in a plant pot), we were met with hostility by one particular member of staff. An hour later the food wasn't received and I came to check and the same member of staff shouted (and I don't use that term lightly) at me explaining it was my fault I didn't get my food as I didn't give clear instructions. My (big) party had not moved from the spot we described. We got the cold and stale food which was by no means cheap, and I asked why I was being shouted at. I got no apology from Deville (the member of staff in question) and had to carry my own food upstairs. On complaint her junior member of staff apologised and put this down to stress so I took it no further but it is ultimately inexcusable. I left feeling I had done something wrong when I was the customer! In short- Do better.

Unbelievably slow service in a less than half full pub. The spout tops were substituted with burnt broccoli. No substitute. I'm only here because its next to The Other Palace where I'm seeing a play later. Proximity doesn't equal quality 🤷🏼‍♀️

It was disappointing to find that real ale was not available in the upstairs bar (apparently the pump could not get it up there). The terrace was also uncomfortably noisy. On the other hand, the food and drink were fine and the staff polite and helpful.

Good service and decent food. The fried fish was a bit oily, slightly too soggy, and the french fries were overdone which seems to be a common problem in England. The chicken salad was very good. The sausage and mash potatoes was also very good. Overall a positive and good experience. The service was very good! Friendly, courteous and professional. Would recommend The Phoenix to other travellers. They tolerated our kids, and let them draw on the kids menus (thank you).

The downstairs pub is a nice space. The staff are reasonably friendly. Drinks were served quite quickly to be begin with, but by late afternoon we were waiting 25 minutes for a pint to arrive after using the app. There were about 4 people at the bar at the time. Haphazard service. The food is awful and I wouldn't recommend eating at this pub. Went for a roast yesterday with a group of friends and we stuck to the roast lunches, so can't vouch for the other dishes. Deserts were also poor. Whilst the beef was enjoyable, none of the sides served with it had any flavour at all. Very disappointing, especially the parsnips (way too hard) and the roasties (no crisp). After asking, we had to wait for salt, pepper and horseradish to arrive. The veggie gravy did not arrive until 60% of the food had been eaten (and they had no veggie wellington). All in all, we won't be returning.

Went there for drinks after work on a Friday. Beer was OK, may have been a better choice available but I wasn't buying so didn't put up a fight about it. Maybe need to go back again to see what it's like again. If I'm honest I'm struggling to remember the last time I went into a pub for drinks let alone without my family.

Really recommend this pub. Staff were very helpful in assisting me with booking multiple tables in the main area for an event. Ideal location, good selection of drinks and nice atmosphere.

Lovely pub with great food. We visited after attending the remembrance parade. Despite being told we could sit in the upstairs bar, we were rudely told to leave the area by management some 30 minutes later. The lady dealt with the situation extremely poorly and it left a sour taste in our mouths. It’s a shame they refused to open the upstairs bar area when there were no seats downstairs and standing room was limited.

Need to leave info at entrance. Table service by all male waiters and female behind bar. Excellent food and service with outside seating front and rear of pub. Short walk from Victoria Station. Ladies on first floor gents on the ground. Disabled access.

One of the nicer pubs around Victoria, but on the day I visited the cask/craft beer selection was disappointing. Didn't try the food so can't comment on that. Used to be much nicer in the days before Young's took over Geronimo.

Nice pub, nice staff. Service is slow and the app option for ordering is not only a painful Process it doesn’t work. Food is ok - sound system needs help; the mini speaker on the bar worsens the ambience.

Roman Holiday Accommodation was here. Great place for eating and drinking. Lots of high quality food and very good beer. Nice atmosphere, nice place, nice people, nice food. 2 stories and good music. Centrally located and easy to reach. I’ll be back!

Nice atmosphere out on the veranda upstairs. The upstairs dining area was also very nice but didn't spend any time downstairs. Can't comment on the food because all we had was beer but I did enjoy the atmosphere.

The fish and chips were excellent, great big cappuccino! There were more tables than the waitress could manage, but we had a very pleasant lunch.

Good authentic english food. Large portion sizes. Fun to try fish and chips (fries) for one dish and a salmon pie over potatoes for the other. Nice atmosphere too.

My hubby and I have visited the Phoenix many times over the last decade or so. We were excited when they reopened and announced their new extended outside bar area. Unfortunately upon going upstairs to the 'bar and terrace" (as painted on the wall of the publ, we were told the lovely (and near empty) terrace was actually a restaurant for diners only. Shame on you phoenix. We will not be returning.

Service was good, atmosphere nice. It seemed like they had run out of the original fish and chips, we saw plenty of others who's batter was crispy and brown, but when ours came out it was white and a little soggy. Teach us to order earlier next time

Burger and Plant Burger, both well cooked, well presented and tasted good, good size portion. Great staff, polite, cheerful, and friendly. Downstairs was a busy bar area, we were guided upstairs for our meal which suited us well, quieter and pleasantly decorated.

I went for dinner with some friends recently in the upstairs restaurant of the pub. The overall experience was brilliant! We had two waiters who were very friendly and put a lot of care into making sure our experience was perfect. We had a round of cocktails which were so beautifully presented, being able to see the cocktail making process was a delight. The food itself was incredible, I had the lamb belly which had a gorgeous colour to it and the taste was just beautiful. The trifle I'll definitely be coming back for, it was a perfect finish to a spectacular meal. Will definitely be returning again soon!

Had a lovely lunch with family old and young, we were offered tables in all areas and we chose the shade of the outside garden area. We were able to relax and be served without any fuss. Great atmosphere, friendly staff & lots of choice on the menu for food and drinks! Thank you, we will be back.

My first venture to Victoria area since Covid and it was quieter, but still busy. A leaving do is why I'm here and it's in the function room upstairs. Walking through the main bar (masked) the tables were reasonably spaced, but I would not be here if they were all full. The function room has its own bar and the kitchen is next door. Food looked good and the room about 35 feet square accommodated the 30 guests allowing spacing. The only downside is toilets are downstairs and back across the bar. The group I met had not seen each other for 18 months face to face. The way things are going it may be another 18 before they meet again, but we would be happy to meet here.

Second visit in about six months. Food, atmosphere and wine - fantastic and a lovely buzz to the place. Staff very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Alex is (was) an absolute sweetheart and I am glad we were able to sort out his jumper. Will be back. Thank you
