Sherlock Holmes pub is a definite must see while in London, especially if you’re a fan of this fictional character. The pub is themed in the Victorian era and has an atmosphere and feel that throws you back in time. The pub is downstairs and the restaurant is upstairs. As you ascend the stairs be sure to look to your right at the recreated room of Sherlock Holmes’ famous Baker Street flat. It contains memorabilia from the show and is nice to look at. If you plan to have dinner here, I highly recommend making a reservation. Unfortunately it was crowded during our visit and we were unable to get a table. However, we thoroughly enjoyed having drinks downstairs with friends. The pub is located between the Embankment and Charing Cross tube stations which is also near many London attractions including Trafalgar Square. A definite must see!

This is the pub not to miss, only a short walk from Trafalgar Square. I recommend to eat on the first floor near the Sherlock’s study. The food it typical pub food and great. Guinness extra cold available too. Very nice service. It is a busy place but they manage very well.

The service was on point. I was welcomed and looked after. My meal come quickly after ordering and it was absolutely delicious. Not only was the portion size huge, it was flavoursome. The cider and cocktail I ordered was tasty as well. The atmosphere and the ambiance interesting. I would definitely recommend this pub to those who want a great meal.

Loved the atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and wonderful. Food was very good also. We visited on a Sunday evening and the pub was still crowded, and we were lucky to get a table. Restaurant upstairs was full. We ordered full dinners in the pub and loved them. Highly recommend and would eat here again.

Make a reservation ahead of time, this pub gets really busy! The food is delicious and just what we needed after a rainy day. We got some scotch eggs and a steak and kidney pie with mash. Very filling! To top it off, they have a great selection of beers and ciders. We got a ginger beer and mango cider which was amazing! Lots of Sherlock Holmes themed posters around the pub. Fun place to get a beer!

The food is awesome! I love the streak pie and slow cooked pork. Great selections of ciders and ales. The sticky dates pudding is so good, satisfied my sweet tooth 😊

Been here several times and it's always a pleasure. Had a great evening again, with the best vegan mushroom chili, Fish and Chips, cake and a tasty ginger beer! Thanks to the wonderful and friendly owner Nat and her sister Jo, making guests feel so welcome and always take some time for a nice chat, though they have much to do, as the Pub is quite full. See you again soon:-)

Loved this place! Visited twice in two days because there were too many amazing things on the menu to try! 🐟🍟The first time I had the big fish and chips portion, which came with pickled onions, peas, curry and tartare sauces and felt like a truly authentic gourmet experience. 🫓 The second time I tried one of their pies (their pride) and oh dear, I'm still dreaming about it! The chicken and mushroom pie had the most flavourful filling I'd tried so far in London. 🍹 Both times were accompanied by the most delicious Pink Beefeater and lemonade cocktail! The place is comfortable and cosy, there are tall and regular tables, as well as outdoor seating. 🔎 On the second floor, you can see Sherlock Holmes's room! 🚻 Accessible toilet ♿ Generally accessible, except the second floor 💳 Card payment at the bar

It is a cozy pub with a dining room upstairs. The service was quick and the beer was tasty but the food was a bit dissappointing. I had the steak and ale pie but found out that actually it was a frozen one. I was hoping for a handmade one because on the menu it was mentioned as “award winning”. My friends had fish & chips but they said it was not that tasty either. One of us ate burger and said it was good. I might go there again for the drinks and for the atmosphere but not for the food.

It was my first time having steak and ale pie and I was definitely impressed!!! The crust was flaky and buttery, the filling was rich and creamy, the mashed potatoes with the sauce were an incredible mix. And for a decent price! Will definitely come back to taste more of the menu!

Nice small cozy local pub, beer is warm and flat enough as we like it in London. The food is typical from this kind of pub, the fish and chips and the kidney pie were good. But the ambiance is what makes this place shine. The waiters are super busy but charming. I really get the English pub experience I was looking for, I would definitely recommend.

We were vacationing in London from the US and this pub was recommended by some friends. We really enjoyed the price, food, atmosphere and service and interesting focus (Holmes). The location is quite handy for many of the common things to do in London (Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, etc) there is a small museum upstairs where they’ve put together a room that is kind of a free mini-museum for Holmes fans. We recommend it as a place to go, especially if you or your kids are Sherlock fans. The pace was not rushed, so if you want to take a load off for a bit in a busy part of town, this is a good one. Also, you can make online reservations easily, which can be good insurance if you are there at a busy time.

The food here is excellent and cheaper that most in the area. The interior is very well decorated with a Sherlock Holmes theme. I would hold off next time in alcohol drinks as just for the two of us was the cost of a meal. We had sausage/mash and 8oz steak with two vodka and Cokes and came to £40. Location for us was perfect with been just over the road from our hotel. The restaurant is upstairs which is better than in the bar area if you was a proper evening meal experience. They do have an app if you want to book a table or place your order. Look them up on Google maps where you will get the web link and contact details. Overall we would eat here again if we return to London.

Had dinner reservations for 5pm. Grateful we did. Loved the decor. Servers were polite and helpful. Unfortunately, it was uncomfortably hot and humid upstairs . Downstairs was worse. Definitely need A/C or fans.

Food, atmosphere, and service all great. There on Sunday evening, very busy and had food almost as fast as fast food and taste was great. The pic shows the beef sirloin dinner. Pick a tap beer and can't go wrong.

Very snug in the upstairs dining room. Was squeezed in without a reservation by the very lovely hostess. Generous portions, especially the fish and chips, and a cozy atmosphere. Would recommend for a nice lunch.

We had friends from the US come over and wanted a themed pub sherlock Holmes is a great little gem unfortunately the bar staff at the time a blond young lady with short hair served us and was less than helpful concerning where we could sit and eat we were told to look for a table and then come to the bar and order it was around 3pm ....no problem standard in most busy pubs ....there were no tables the lady saw us about to leave I noticed a dining area upstairs I went back to the bar and asked if we could eat upstairs she said yes WHY COULD YOU NOT JUST TELL AS AT THE BEGINNING IF YOU CANT FIND SEATING YOU CAN EAT UPSTAIRS.!!?!?!?!?!?!........ staff in the dining area was courteous and very inviting the food was good and at a very reasonable price well worth a visit ...

Wonderful food at this pub if you use the restaurant part upstairs. Service was a little slow due to a problem in the kitchen but service was great and the food was lovely.

Lovely food, great staff, not overly expensive either. Always go here even for just a pint and they have a lovely seating area out the front under their beautiful flowers!

A great touristy restaurant close to a number of other good destinations. The fare was priced well enough for being in the middle of London. Staff was full of friendly folks that took good care of us in the bar area while we waited for restaurant seating.

While in London during a "walkabout" we spied this place. Had a GREAT time!! Other patrons were so fun but the star was the fish and chips. Soooo good. Authentic, huge and so well prepared. You want proper fish and chips go here. You will not be disappointed. I'm going back everytime I'm in London.

A proper boozer - a good atmosphere and traditional Sherlock Holmes themed decor. Was a little bit scruffy though. I did not eat there but other people were and the food looked decent. Prices of drinks were reasonable for the location

The food was really good, and a reasonable price for the area. The staff were helpful when it came to redeeming a gift card. The service was pretty quick. It's a shame the upstairs was closed when we went as that is more 'themed'. But I would recommend this place for a good priced drink and bite to eat.

Great pub in the heart of London. Standard Green King food was really nice, plus Sherlock beer! Sat downstairs, pleasant, but got very busy from 12:30 at weekend!

Welcoming place with nice atmosphere, service is great and food comes out quick too. Here you can find traditional British food and beer. Upstairs by reservation but downstairs- first come first serve, outside seating is there too but maybe if you are not eating.

If you want to eat there, don't be in a hurry. You'll have to wait a long time to be able to order, then wait a minimum 45 minutes for your food to get to your table. Maybe get another server if you have a lot of clients ? If you could also please tell your staff to pull up their pants, we hate to see their buttcrack next to our food. The food was good tho, very good mac'n'cheese, burger and onion rings.

Wonderful traditional pub. Only stopped for one drink bit it had a really lovely atmosphere and a great drink selection. The only thing that let it down was the maintenance of the toilets which could have been slightly cleaner and one cubical in the ladies was without loo roll. Otherwise it was brilliant and will definitely come back for a visit when in the area.

After a day of extreme walking beer and food from here hit the spot. Friendly and helpful staff. Pub was full inside so we got a small table outside. Which was perfect coz covid is still in full swing... Overall present experience. Will be back when in town again.

I brought family here while they were visiting London, and they loved it! For a pub geared to tourists, the food was actually very good. The portions were large and the prices were very fair for London. Definitely will be back soon!

Nice but average London pub. Stopped in for a drink. No particular issues but given the glowing review I was expecting to be blown away but it was just an average pub in my opinion - not bad but I would not say particularly going out of your way to find since there are so many other pubs in the area that I would prefer. It was really busy, many tourists. We were able to find a seat at the bar. Some TV screen were playing old Sherlock Holmes b&w movies to add on to the theme. Here was a nice leather high walled seating area to one side.

The Sherlock Holmes Public House on Northumberland Street London is a great pub to drop in for either drinks or to dine. This recent visit was the second time we have been to The Sherlock. Our first visit back in January was to dine upstairs and our most recent in July was simply for drinks sat outside in the sun. Considering it’s central location it is without doubt very popular however, quite serene and peaceful even when sitting outside. A very charming and historic venue with great staff, food, drinks and all round ambiance. Limited photos that don’t do the place justice but will give a good feel for what it’s about. Go to The Sherlock, you won’t be disappointed.

Great pub in the centre of London with great character and great decor. It really is a pretty pub with lovely flowers outside. The prices here are cheaper than most pubs in the area and the food was fantastic. We had a cheese toastie and hunters chicken toastie, both were a good size and good value for money. I will definately return and would highly recommend this pub.

Nice welcoming pub with delicious traditional food on the menu. By the name and location, I was expecting somewhat of a touristy feel, but it was refreshingly warm inside with a great crowd and friendly service. Highly recommend the Sherlock Holmes ale.

Visit the quirky pub to satisfy your fascination with the world's famous detective... Sherlock Holmes. They have a room on the 2nd floor with Sherlock Holmes themed items and memorabilia. A good selection of food is on the menu. It is a traditional pub so expect a lot of socializing and drinks around, but if you just fancy a bite, book a table you'll have a quiet spot to enjoy your meal upstairs. The staff were accomodating and friendly. Not bad to complete your Sherlock Holmes experience...

Had a lovely father's day surprise here. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service good. Joe, our waiter, was particularly good. The food is good basic British food. Which is what you would expect in such a British Icon of a pub. The only downside was, the potion of chips and mashed potatoes we received were really small.

  • 4/5 Toby O. 2 years ago on Google
Great little pub in Central London. Service was very quick and they had a nice range of beers including a 'house beer'. This was unfortunately unavailable when I went. The pub has outdoor and indoor seating. All the staff were helpful and I hope to return next time I am in that part of town.

Nice and comfortable place specially on 1st floor, where is the restaurant. The waiter was nice and polite. In first moment was a mistake with the wine that we order, and on the end he found that the wine that we ordered was out of stock, but he recommended other that we enjoy. The food was OK but we think that need a bit changes.

Nice little pub. Was going to order food but when we were online about 70% of the menu wasn't available. Did go back the following day for another drink. And people were eating and the food looked good.

Only stayed for one beer but all the staff were great. We took a look upstairs in the restaurant and the lad working up there was so friendly, even though we were not eating.

As a life long fan of Sherlock Holmes it was inevitable i would be popping into the " Sherlock Holmes " themed pub. Just a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of Trafalgar Square, this is a gem of a pub. The decor is tastefully done with various posters, Pictures and memorabilia of the legend that is Sherlock Holmes. The music is at the right level to enable you to have a conversation without shouting to each other. The TV's on the wall show some of the classic Sherlock Holmes movies. The staff are a credit to the establishment, polite, attentive and nothing was too much. Our food was amazing and the triple cooked chips and onion rings were to die for! The best pub food i have had by far for many a long time. The restaurant upstairs carries On the theme and there is a lovely display depicting 221b Baker St ( living room of Mr Holmes ) i was disappointed that they had no fridge magnets left, but its a good excuse to go back to this wonderful place. If you are in the area, do yourself a favour and pop in and sample the hospitality and ambience, you wont be disappointed.

The best fish and chips ever… If you ate fish and chips and didn’t like it, probably didn’t eat in Sherlock Holmes. I also recommend you to drink a shandy with it. It has also a Sherlock Holmes room that has some stuff belongs to Sherlock.
