Popped in here for a Sunday roast after walking the entire Victoria tube line with friends. It sure was well worth it. Easy to spot and get to. Great service and the food was spot on. Ordered a G&T alongside it - perfect.

Wonderful Sunday roast, really packed plate - you won't be hungry afterwards! The lamb was lovely but the chicken was the star. The service was first class, really warm and friendly and excellent range of beers. Make sure you book ahead, it's very popular

Nice pub with good roast on a Sunday! We tried to get in here twice without booking so booked and got in finally at third try :) Give it a go if you fancy not your normal tipples and a nice bit of grub!

Visited on a Sunday and enjoyed their vegan sweet potato nut roast with salt and pepper roast potatoes and gravy. The vegetables were just boiled - so nothing special but still enjoyable. This dish is also gluten free (without the Yorkshire pudding). Lots of outdoor seating but also well-spaced if you choose to sit indoors. Lovely service from helpful and friendly staff.

An attractive pub and definitely one of the friendliest I think I’ve even visited! We had a dog with us and staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, including treats for the dog. There’s a wide selection of beers on tap, and whilst we didn’t eat on this occasion, the Sunday Roasts coming out of the open plan kitchen looked incredible. Crown & Anchor is a real gem.

Glorious establishment, a dream local for any Londoner. Excellent service and the Stiegl is top draw. But please, I beg of you, bring back the tacos!!

Had the absolute best experience at Crown & Anchor for a Christmas Roast with friends. We were a large group of 20, so I was super impressed with how quickly the food came out and we all got our food at pretty much the same time. I had the veggie mushroom, spinach and tofu wellington with cauliflower cheese on the side which was so delicious. All the roasts came with plentiful trimmings - roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots, red cabbage, sprouts and a Yorkshire pud. Oh and plentiful gravy too! Everyone commented on how filling and delicious their meal was. The staff had also very kindly added some extra special touches such as crackers on the table, to make our experience all the more Christmassy. The pub has such a relaxed and cosy atmosphere and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Big shout out to Justine who helped me with the booking and the pre-orders of our group on the day. Would highly recommend this pub to anyone looking for a nice and relaxed meal with friends or family, with tasty food and fantastic service.

Came here for a roast, as recommended by multiple reviews and a Time-out article. Unfortunately it wasn’t great - the beef was over cooked, cold, there was also too much of it on the plate. The Yorkshire pudding was also bland (didn’t think this was possible), and the roast potatoes were so hot they scalded your mouth, which was ironic with the beef being cold. The atmosphere and staff were fantastic, unsure if we caught the chefs on a bad day, but I didn’t see the hype personally, which is a shame.

The vibe of the customers is cool, they serve good drinks and beers, I really liked it, but the staff is very rude, specially the red hair woman who shouted at us because we were on her way. I think it can get a little crowded and if you are working it might be difficult, but find a solution for your problem instead of shouting to paying customers.

Great local pub in Brixton was bussing on Friday night. Awesome selection of craft beers on tap and heaps of pub favourites on the menu. I had the chicken schnitzel which was excellent, and Stacey has the nachos which she has claimed as the best pub nachos she’s ever had. Get around it!

Excellent beer selection and great roasts - a good amount of foodso that you are full but not leaving half the roast like some places. Some people in our group also found room for the cookie dough and waffle desserts and reported them good too. No photos because we got stuck straight in! We had table service that was super friendly and responsive. Nice outdoor area on the path to the park but off the road.

“OUR KITCHEN IS CLOSED “ was the reply to the request to order some food 6:20 pm Sunday 30 July. “We’ve run out of food”. Had I been spoken to more politely I would not be writing this. But it topped off a series of events Being non-drinkers but wanting to support our local we made sure to arrive in time to order food. There was no indication that the kitchen had closed. Every table had at least two food menus on them as well as empty glasses, except for one. The mostly empty pub was a tip with a few patrons that were still drinking were sitting amongst the detritus of Sunday lunch. Although the table we sat at was sans glassware it was till sodden with beer. I had thought to ask the woman behind the bar to wipe it down for me but she was busy composing a text message to someone and her fellow barman was in a deep flirtation with a customer so I grabbed the spray bottle and kitchen roll to clean it myself. Returning to the cleaning items to their place I then proceeded to wait for the staff to finish their personal lives to ask if I was waiting for something. Which is when I was greeted with the blunt service. Kitchen hours are advertised until 7 pm and even though you may have run out of Sunday Roasts your menu includes sausages, hot dogs and chips all of which can be stocked sufficiently that you will not “run out”. But even if you do you should have your staff remove the menus from the tables to softly indicate that food might not be on offer. Moreover an apology should be forthcoming if you have closed before advertised hours not acting like I had offended their mother for asking to order from the menu in my hand that I had found at my table that I had cleaned myself because the staff were too busy texting friends and trying to find a date for later while the patrons were being left sitting amongst empty but dirty tables. I can only guess the staff have been left without management and the chef just wanted an early night with out the bother of meeting the needs of customers who wanted to eat. Imagine

Cosy pub and GREAT service. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Fantastic selection of beer and you can get to try them all. My new local. PS: came to this pub for a date 3.5 years ago for the first time and we are still together!

Love this pub, always feels warm and welcoming, staff are LOVELY and down to earth and they’re more than happy for you to try out the great selection of beers and ciders on tap (which is great as I am fussy 😂)! Had visited once before moving to the area on a first date and now happy to say that this is my new favourite local!

Love this pub. Never too crowded but welcoming, great beers and drinks in general, good food, great portions, and nice outdoor spot just by the park. Like a low key local where everything is good.

Very nicely layout restaurant with a fresh trendy feel. Really nice staff and a lovely Sunday roast. Unusual drinks menu, as a beer lover I wasn't sure which drinks to have so had to choose blindly. Also dog friendly made it a 👍🏿in my eyes.

The most amazing staff always make you feel more than welcome! Has quickly become a local spot for myself and friends. Justine and Dave are credits to the team and the pints are always perfection 💜

Great place! Friendly staff, great location, pub food is ok (decent but not the reason to come here with so many amazing restaurants near by). The outside seating is great, slightly away from the main road and a park just behind. The building itself is gorgeous as well which is always a happy bonus. Love it

Good pub on the Brixton Road. Two or three cask beers - and a cider available when I visited. Plenty of outdoor seating. Interesting menu which includes vegetarian and vegan options.

Good quality roast dinner on a Sunday. Good portions for a good price. There are two veggie options on the Roast menu too! I had the spinach pie, it was big and tasty, served with yorkshires, roasties, and lots of gravy. Classic pub vibe with friendly service.

For anyone who has to start his/her day with a nice coffee and a friendly simple chat, I recommend starting your day here. Plenty of outdoor seating. Outdoor ordering so no need to struggle finding your mask just for 30 seconds. I forgot her name, but an Italian girl at the front is lovely and hospitable.

Nice pub with outdoor seating overlooking the park and heaters on some of the tables. Good selection of beer and cider on tap, and the sharing food was very nice.

Fantastic selection of beers and lots of indoor and outdoor seating. I'd call out the food for being a bit basic for the price and generally a bit overcooked. Dog friendly which is nice

Good range of beers, £2/person quiz night every Tuesday. Nice interior .. but the food is pretty expensive for what it is! Basic pub food.. I had a green salad with halloumi and it was £9.50! I have eaten a bit of the salad already in the picture attached but it was not very big to start off with! Overall - good pub for a pint and a quiz.. but would not recommend eating here!

I am not a pub goer. But I love the this place for it's food. It's my local and as their menue keeps on changing l find myself visiting regularly to eat. They also have a nice selection of non alcoholic drinks. Super friendly staff. Last time I took the dog he got a big complimentary bowl of meet scraps.

The Crown and Anchor is one of the best pubs in the Brixton area and well worth a visit. It has a great evolving selection of beers ales and ciders from London breweries along side some more easy to find brews from further afield. They also have a well stocked bottle bar and even include a nice selection of alcohol free options. None of that becks blue action in here thank you very much. An assorted collection of tables adorn the inside of the pub and there is good options for outdoor seating too. Best of all the staff here are down to earth and quite likeable. Just a shame some have little to no knowledge of the beers which is where the 5th star is dropped.

Used to go there many years ago. Has changed dramatically but lunch was good, beer a bit pricey. Fad for craft beer is the norm but sometimes you just want a disco lager.

Order tacos. The tacos are excellent. Great selection of beer. Friendly service and right by the park. This is a favourite place for a pint and a bite to eat.

Great beer BUT ! Website said it was open until 11 but at 20 to 11 we were surrounded by chairs on top of tables ready for the cleaners and then last orders were at 10.45 and kick out was at 11 on the dot - what happened to last orders at 11 ? And cleaning up after the customers have left ??? We felt very hassled but the beer was very good :-)

This is a nice pub, with a decent amount of outdoor seating, which is great in the warm weather. The food is decent, my only issue is that the bottles of wine is a bit expensive.

A pub with a great atmosphere (we visited early evening on a Saturday) and an excellent selection of beers. Service is very good and there is a large outside seating area. The food we had (4 tapas dishes) were all very tasty. Definitely a pub worth visiting if you get the chance.

Was looking forward to coming for a Sunday roast after looking at the great reviews, but was very disappointed. Had the pork roast and the pork was very dry, also the potatoes were hard and tasted strange, and the broccoli was almost raw. Shame!

A truly fantastic pub. The beer selection is extensive and constantly changing, the food is amazing and great for vegetarians, and they're extremely dog friendly.
