Tasty food, reasonable selection of drinks and good atmosphere, feeling like a community pub. Chairs uncomfortable for a long session though😂

Outstanding food, better than most restaurants without a doubt. Annie is lovely, charming, Some 8 tables outside, nice when it's NOT !!! raining, also under cover tent at rear for more seating. They should introduce a HAPPY HOUR fir reduced priced cocktails between 5 & 6.30pm any thoughts ?????? Saturday 18th November, still NO happy hour, as like all pubs drinks and lowish quality bottles of wine expensive, they charge like the Light Brigade. All staff very nice .. (Maria) new member of staff lovely. Helpful friendly staff, consistently good, and nice clientele. Dog and children friendly,

Really good pub in Wanstead! Come here for lunch on a Saturday and will repeat. Dog and baby friendly too - baby changing facilities also staff was very attentive/friendly with our son. A nice outdoor area to the rear which is covered to keep cosy and a BBQ spot in the summer. Food was surprisingly good.

Good spot for some Sunday roast with a nice indoor and outdoor area. Unfortunately, they appeared to be somewhat overrun when we attended and the service did struggle with the accuracy of the order and timeliness. For example, it took six attempts to try and settle the bill for a variety of reasons.

First off, the staff were polite and nice so the stars are attributed to them. The restaurant really doesn't get any stars at all. Hugely overpriced - in fact my dish was just embarrassing: A tiny breast of chicken, two (and I mean two) small new potatoes, 4 small scrunches of deep fried kale and a smattering of sweet corn. All for £18.50. Really, really bad and I left hungry. 7 of us for dinner, no starters just two portions of olives and bread. One round of drinks, one bottle of wine + one main each = £250.00. Ouch! A shame and we won't be going back.

Above average price, above average food, way beyond average portion s. I loved the pub and the vibe. Two main rooms one for family dining and one for pints and sports. Awesome food, some of the best tasting things I've had this side of the pandemic. Portions are huge, the lamb shank for example could feed 2 or 3 comfortably. The sides are delicious. Thoroughly recommend. Somewhat eclectic pint choices, but it has Leffe on draft ‼️ Been in London for a long time and I've never seen that - Belgian vibes.

Nice local pub away from the busier high street. Very cosy feel inside with a spacious beer garden that has a covered tarpaulin roof and heaters in the winter. The food here is very good.

Whilst it can get very busy on a Sunday, this pub has one of the best vegetarian roasts. And it's consistently good. Service is always friendly and good too. There's outside seating, and a covered outside area to the side. I've never sat there so can't comment on what they're like, just that they exist. Dog friendly too.

Nice and cosy local pub! Food was ok. Cocktails were really nice. Staff could pay more attention to customers though. I will definitely go back. It’s my local

Fantastic food and drinks in nice atmosphere. Limited vegan options but the burger is better than the usual pub ones. Fantastic Paloma cocktail!

Had the Sumday roast menu. Very good on the whole. Arancini good, burrito a bot runny and the bread was chewy, mushrooms on toast nice but not very hot. Roasts very good - 3 of us had the pork belly and had an enormous amount of meat - maybe due to being last orders of the day. Good crackling. Beef very good.

Very nice roasts and great pub atmosphere. The vegetarian roast was nice but the nut roast bit was cold - veggie sausages would have been better! Great service as well

The duke is a great spot for a sunny afternoon! The space is great as Inside is cosy and outside has a really nice vibe- I’d love to see some live music there this summer to really seal the deal! The day staff are lovely - though I always find the evening staff a little rude. I think the food is some of the better pub grub you can find in Wanstead. Slightly elevated menu with a range of unique options but still quite reasonably priced as the ingredients feel quality. I recommend the Caesar chicken and bacon sandwich (pictured) which really was fresh and delicious (though not available after 4 I believe) the mushrooms on toast and the Mac and cheese are also lovely. Though I haven’t tried them, the burgers look good as does the steak. I recommend popping in if you’re looking for a nice pub in Wanstead at lunchtime I’d choose this place over some of the others.

Excellent, my son and I had a wonderfully tasting lunch. So much so that I had to go and congratulate the chef on his excellent cuisine. Our waitress Hazel was charming, professional and friendly. Overall excellent and I will return.

We had a fantastic roast at the Duke - very moist chicken, plenty of gravy and delicious veg! I was hoping for cauliflower cheese but it sadly wasn't on when we went. My husband had the burger which he loved too - will certainly be returning!

I had a lovely time here. Staff and management were very nice, accommodating and patient with our toddlers… Sunday roast was great too I’ll definitely be back :)

The vegetarian roast wasn't great, the gravy had a strange curry sauce flavour to it which was unexpected and the Nut roast wasn't great as it lacked texture and felt dense. The beer was flat and just the glass was changed not repoured. The sticky toffee pudding had a strange texture, very bitsy. The cocktails were lovely and service was good. I think I'd come back just for drinks.

Fantastic Sunday dining experience. The roast dinners were some of the best we've had. The nut roast was out of the top drawer. Excellent selection of drinks - mulled wine. Mulled wine in November. And the staff were fantastic. So accommodating (with prams and highchairs) and helpful. Couldn't do enough. Mulled drinks and excellent staff = definitely a reason to (re-)visit.

Great family pub with good vibes and lots of events and things happening. Check out the vegetarian pop up this chef from Barcelona does! It’s amazing!! The street party is also awesome 😜

Dinner with family. I ordered the Crab Toast, Eggplant main and Brownie for dessert. They were all very good. The eggplant was super tasty and a great size. Brownie is a ‘melty’ type (my favourite). 0 complaints, the food was great.
