Booked a table here and had the fish and chips. Very nice surprise to have actual freshly battered fish and proper chips from a pub! Portion was great too. Only down side is there are a lot of tables in a small space so not much space to distance if you wanted to do so

Great village Inn with superior rooms. Superb hospitality from all staff. The room was more of an apartment with separate lounge. Dinner in restaurant well above average with generous portions well priced.

I really like the white lion. It's in a beautiful setting and the building is lovely. I go for a fortnightly walk with a work friend and we always come here for a drink after. The staff are super friendly and on the occasions that we've had good it's been really nice. Would recommend

The White Lion is just fantastic! The staff are so friendly, attentive, welcoming and helpful and the home cooked food is so tasty and satisfying with all fresh and locally sourced ingredients. The wine and beer is top notch! Before lockdown we always visited regularly for a tasty lunch and will be booking a table regularly from now on! Would definitely recommend to family and friends to visit! Thank you White Lion for another successful and seamlessly wonderful visit!

Lovely lunch here on Sunday with my Mother in Law. It was her first time here, my third and I’m already coming back for more. Absolutely delicious food and staff are even better, love the fact that it’s independent. Keep doing what you’re doing. 😊

Popped in for a Saturday afternoon drink in the beer garden, after discovering whilst out. Definitely a hidden Gem. Lovely old fashion bar, chatty staff and dog friendly. They even do doggy ice creams. After looking at the menu we will definitely be back.

What a brilliant 'Good Old English Pub! ' Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. I had the most delicious Steak and Ale pie..Ever! (cooked in house by Liz & Tan) and an excellent pint of ale, brewed just down the road 🍺👍 Made my holiday, thank you 😁 Steve and Desirée

Beautiful little place with friendly staff and ‘proper’ pub food. I had a delicious chicken, leek and bacon pie (with pastry all the way round, not a casserole with a lid!) and my friend had a homemade chicken Kiev - both meals were really good and the cosy atmosphere meant we had a brilliant catch up.

We came here for a meal after my husband saw it on a list of 100 best pubs in England. It’s a lovely quaint village pub, the food was good. We had the Camembert to start which was the best Camembert I’ve ever had, followed by the chicken Kiev. We were a party of 7, all the food was great quality and the staff were impeccable. Lovely afternoon spent there

We had Sunday lunch here in the restaurant and it was great. All the food looked and tasted delicious (2 roast beef, 1 roast lamb and a prawn linguine, followed by syrup sponge and custard, apple crumble cheesecake, and strawberry ice-cream). The alcohol-free Gordon's gin is good too. The two young men who served us were pleasant and efficient, one readily agreeing to an extra portion of custard with the sponge pudding. The setting in the middle of Soberton is lovely, next to a green, with an outside eating area under parasols. The only downsides are the lack of a car park (parking on the road can be a bit tight if it's busy) and the occasional biker who feels the need to rev their engine by the front door before setting off (but there's always one - and it's not the pub's fault!). We'd definitely recommend and would return as the food was so good.

Excellent meal!! The best food we have had in a long time. Pie of the day was delicious, and came with veg and potatoes / chips. Reasonable price too £14.95 Kids menu is small but the food was great and a huge portion. Service from the young waitress service was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and interacted with our son. The best bit though was the puddings..... OMG. The cheesecake was incredible.

Had a lovely stay at The White Lion in Soberton ☺️ The Stables rooms were fantastic, well presented and comfortable. The dinner was also really nice, if I was being pedantic, the carrots were a bit undercooked and the pie wasn't as good as I was expecting. That being said, the overall experience was fantastic and easily deserves 5 star 👍

Nice pub with Lovely food. Only criticism is they do not have baby changing facilities (presumably no disabled either but I didn't have a need to check and I don't believe the doors would be wide enough to allow access anyway)

A fabulous village pub with superb food and two letting rooms. Great staff, a stunning location and the epitome of all that is great in a proper pub.

Beautiful country pub, lovely atmosphere and amazing food. I'm gluten and dairy intolerant and there were plenty of options. Lovely place to stop after a nice country walk. Will definitely return. Make sure you book though as it gets booked up

The food and drink at the restaurant were FANTASTIC! They are know for their pies and Kiev. My wife had the pie, I had the Kiev, both were incredible and lived up to their reputation. If we are ever in the area again, we will absolutely go back!

Love this pub and it's friendly feel. Had a great roast dinner here with all the trimmings...Friendly, relaxed and the kids can go and play on the green or in the garden... thoroughly recommend a visit here!

Great classic British pub food. Nothing fancy, but nothing to complain about either. I had the burger which was cooked well and tasted great. Ide definitely recommend adding a sauce as it was a little dry but you can add that yourself with sauces they provide. All in all, ide go back again.

The menu is varied and the food tastes lovely. Not the friendliest pub I have ever been to but overall worth a stop.

Oh dear, the White lion was always one of our favourite places. Eaten there many times and stayed one night in the accommodation a few months ago. Went for dinner last night, hugely disappointed to find only 1 vegetarian main course but went with the plant based burger. You'd have thought that would be pretty easy for the most basic chef, call it a culinary no brainer. What came out of the kitchen was a plate loaded with over cooked chips, a couple of salad leaves, a veggie burger that was just slightly less tough than tungsten and as impregnable as iron man in a kevlar jacket. The brioche bun was over toasted and equally hard as concrete. However as I was always taught to find something good in everything the slice of tomato wasn't too bad.....but that was the only redeeming feature!

I agree with Ian Ford a month ago - the vegetarian option is woeful. We have been stopping here for many years en route to or from Portsmouth. Short of time before they closed we looked online whilst en route at the ‘sample menu’ and were pleased to see a favourite veggie burger still shown. When we arrived we didn’t look at menus just asked for what we wanted. We were dismayed at the result. We asked about the usual offering to be advised they still did it ‘sometimes’. Hard to imagine as they once gave us the recipe and it would have made 100’s and frozen well. When we asked there was a somewhat diffident response with the fact online was only a sample menu. A great shame but we won’t be returning.

Very warm welcome, friendly service, stunning location and good selection of beer. It was a birthday celebration meal for my wife + friends and the food was very average. Arancini crab starters were quite tasteless and the pie for main course was very bland. Overall we were all disappointed by the meal. As we were not asked how the meal was at the time we did not provide feedback on the evening. I am sorry to not be able to provide more positive feedback, but the White Horse did not live up to expectations.

Food is absolutely delicious and homemade. Great service. Appreciated being able to sit outside and having the option to have the heater on. Beautiful old pub in a stunning setting. Highly recommend The White Lion.

Lovely little village pub and restaurant. Didn't need to book for a lunch time meal. Good portion sizes with competitive prices. Staff were polite and friendly. Dogs welcome here.

Really lovely walk close by and lovely little pub. We only had a beer and some chips but will look to coming back one day. Lots of seating outside and looked nice inside. Accommodation looked nice too.

Booked a table at short notice. Had a Sunday roast which turned out to be the best roast we have had for a long time and my desire for a smaller portion was accommodated with no problem. Highly recommended.

Service was interesting, but I think our waitress was new. Felt safe, one way system. Staff weren't wearing masks which seems to vary from place to place.
