Had lunch here today, booked a table for 5 and also had 3 dogs in tow. Sunday roast was really good value at £12.95 a portion. Could have done with a few extra roast potatoes however there was a decent amount of meat (in my case beef) that came with it. You can order extra sides (potatoes/ yorkshire's/ veg etc) which I would recommend you do if you are hungry/ a big eater - portion size was fine for me but if there are a group of you then might be worth getting the extra 4 sides for £15 and sharing them. Had dessert also which was again good value (£6.95 for all of them). I went for cheesecake which tasted great. They also have a dog menu with chews and the dog ice cream which went down well. Staff were very friendly and chatty. Would definitely visit again.

Lovely pub overlooking the River . Great place to sit out in the garden and watch the boats go by. Stopped off for a late lunch of fish and chips, which was very nice and would definitely recommend

This is a really lovely village pub, with a great atmosphere. We went for lunch today and had some really tasty food, my mum was particularly impressed with the cheesecake! The kids menu is also fab for little ones and very generous portions. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming and we had fantastic table service from Jess, who was really attentive and made sure we were happy with everything. Would definitely recommend!

Would have been great to have actually had a choice of dishes from the menu as opposed to all that was left (1 or 2 dishes) on a Saturday evening at 6.45pm - absolutely ridiculous!! Our restaurant table was booked + confirmed well in advance so the Jolly Fisherman knew to expect us. It didn't get any better with the choice of puddings - "sorry we've run out of that" heard over and over again and then coffee to finish our meal not an option - the coffee machine was broken! Jolly Fisherman, if you want Customers to retun, then things have definitely got to improve!

Staff were lovely and accommodating and totally understanding and appreciative of the critical feedback of the meals served. As the video shows the food was burnt to a crisp and made a ding sound when hit against the bowl, not acceptable at all! Would give a second chance if in the area. Good beer selection and a bit pricy.

We went to the Jolly Fish for a pub lunch. It was quite busy but we were seated and our order taken promptly by the lovely Jess. Our meals (2 adults and 2 children) arrived quickly, good portions, and we all ate the lot. We were looked after by Jess throughout the meal. We will definitely be back!

Really disappointing..has gone downhill, no table service, really limited menu...they contacted me to explain there were no roasts left which was fine, but they didn't have much else there either only burgers! This used to an amazing pub, with good food and pretty wide menu that catered for all...the service there used to be amazing as well...will not be back unless it goes back to how it used to be. Such as shame as the pub itself is lovely, with decent outdoor space with heaters and very dig friendly.

Lovely traditional pub in Stanstead Abbotts, close to the station and the next to the River Lea. Nice new winter drinks available at the moment, definitely worth a try. Has a nice feel no matter what time of the year, its a cozy pub serving pub grub.

Just came in for a booked Sunday roast when we got here we was told only turkey left that was OK, then when we came to order we wanted a smaller portion which by the way is on the menu, only to be told there are no smaller meals left only large ones, surely in the case of a roast you put less meat amd less vegetables on a smaller plate. Am I the only one who thinks this logic is crazy

A fantastic pub to end our hike day. Very friendly service, tasty and large lunch servings as well as a nice atmosphere. Can't ask for much more than that for a local pub. It was a good discovery.

Very good McMullen's Brewery pub a few yards from St Margarets (Hertfordshire) Station. Three cask beers on handpump when I visited including a mild. Lots of outdoor seating in the garden on the banks of the River Lee Navigation. Friendly and helpful staff.

Aug23-Great spot in Stansted Abbot. Lovely history and sculpture and garden. Dogs allowed in front bar which is smaller than rest of site. Staff friendly and efficient. Food was tepid which was disappointing. We had breaded prawns, (thickly breaded) waffle cheesy chips (not enough cheese) and smoked haddock with spinach fish cakes (best if the bunch). With two soft drinks.

Really lovely spot with very friendly staff that helped us out with a large booking when we sailed there from Broxbourne thanks to Lee Valley Boat Centre and had a lovely meal there. Huge portions and all bar 1 was very satisfied. The only reason I just had to hang back on 5 stars was my youngest who didn't enjoy his roast but it could have just been an unlucky one as all the rest of us had really great meals.

Nice pub lunch, but note the « small » vegetarian roast lunch option advertised doesn’t exist. They charge only the « large » price (which is relatively reasonably priced, and the portion they serve is normal portion not large, which is nice so you don’t leave with a food coma).
