Beautiful setting on the edge of the lake. Great food & choice of drinks. Table service is a Fabulous addition too. Retractable covering over the patio area + heaters, is a great feature for cold/wet days... Inside is very well laid out & cleanliness is very good... I highly recommend a visit, but you really need to book in advance, especially in the better weather.... Oh yes, Dogs are welcomed (on a lead) outside & there are footpaths around the lake itself. Also on most spring/summer days, you can enjoy watching the water-skiers...

Just been for afternoon lunch. Very poor 2 cold dinners when we said they just removed and replaced with not even sorry about that, no cutlery given out to the 5 of us . we got that ourselves the young lad serving was fine he said sorry and offered free puddings but no thanks and removed 2 meals from our bill. The best part with the bill after having the 2 meals removed they add 1 and half salads to the bill. The response it happens things get added. It was supposed to be a nice lunch out but it left a sour taste for all 5 people. Very poor show and will never return.

This pub is located in a lovely spot, right by the lakeside - beautiful view! The inside of the pub/restaurant is also nice, but the good ends there. The food was terrible. How can pork belly be dry? Even a slow cooked beef shin - how does a chef make that dry? Everything on the plate was simply bland, lacking both salt and flavour. I stopped eating mine after tasting everything on the plate, then asked the waitress if I could swap my meal for a Caesar salad instead. Before taking it away, she said the following, word for word; “what’s wrong with it? Well you seem to have eaten most of it!” Firstly, rude. Secondly, no I hadn’t, I had simple deconstructed the dish in my attempt to taste everything. She did apologise for the food, and took the pork belly off the bill, but needless to say we won’t be returning. Portions are also quite small for the amount you pay. A shame, because this place has so much potential.

The pub is beautiful & historic in a picturesque setting. The staff were lovely. My only complaint about my experience at this pub was the food. I had the fish and chips. I asked for garden peas and received mushy. I had about 8-9 chips on my plate and the fish did not agree with me. Overpriced at £17.25. Great place for a drink but I’d go elsewhere for food.

Beautiful scenic area around the venue. Wide menu range catering for gluten free and vegan options. Seemed to be pretty good with allergens however when the food came out from the kitchen there was no label specifying it was a gluten free dish so we had to double and triple check with the staff. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Amazing cocktails and dessert selection. Will definitely be returning!

This place looked so nice, but it quickly went downhill as we arrived. No one was Will to sit anyone down at a table when we got there. Was a queue of a couple of families.. the staff were all at the bar chatting. A team huddle at 19:30 on a Friday evening? Then later a group of kids came in, they got served water 3 times in the time it took anyone to realise that there were actual paying customers wanting to order. This was after one couple getting up and speaking to the bar staff… Eventually everyone gave up, one family didn’t even order food and left. Genuinely wish I had done the same, the food was awful. Didn’t even get a change to order desert as no one was coming to any of the tables to take orders. Never been for a pub dinner where all the guest start talking to each other about the poor service across tables and the staff just not giving a toss. Perhaps management had annoyed them and they decided not to work?? Either way, this place is one to avoid at all costs.

The view is stunning. Sadly, that's where the experience stops. I'll give them the fact that it was a little bit busy, not too much for the amount of staff they had working. So the food coming out cold and the coffee's coming out after the food was disappointing, to say the least. We had to either collect our own condiments or ask for them to be brought to the table. There were other customers mine sweeping tables to get salt and pepper, unacceptable. Gutted actually because it is a truly beautiful place to sit for an afternoon.

Went for a late lunch. The pub and surroundings amazing, very warm and friendly but sadly found the food disappointing. The menu looks very professional and we were looking forward to a meal that was as amazing as the place. When it came it looked like something a child had put together in a few minutes. Burgers served with chips. That’s it no salad no coleslaw just a burger and a small pot of chips. Considering the price it fell well below expectations. I will say it tasted nice but going there for the first time on word from a friend I left wishing we had just had drinks. No wow factor like the place or surroundings. Left feeling disappointed sadly.

A chill spot by the lake, the Wiremill Pub in Lingfield is a real find. The lake view is awesome, perfect for a laid-back meal. Tried their fish and chips—super good and a big portion. Service is friendly and on point. Prices are fair for the vibe and what you get. A solid spot if you're into good food with a view. The Wiremill Pub is a must-visit for those seeking a perfect blend of scenic beauty, delicious food, and excellent service.

Lovely location for drink and a natter. Very nice pie. Not welcomed with a smile. Do book an outside table by the water, or you won't get one. Request for extra gravy could have been met with "Absolutely, I won't be long" but wasn't and didn't arrive. 10% service included alongside space for a tip. Premium prices demand premium, friendly service... Nice place to sit and chill with a drink after a walk...

Wow - what a great pub/ bistro. I'd say this is "worth a drive to". Superb views over a small lake with indoor and outdoor seating. The food was top quality bistro style food including the children's option. Proper cod goujons. The staff were attentive and helpful, offering blankets when it got a bit breezy and offered to help find a dropped toy. Excellent value and a great range of wines and beers at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Pub with a beautiful outlook. Can be very busy. Food is generous and tasty, but it can be pricey. The inside of the pub is beautifully quaint, and loos always clean. Didn't stay in the hotel, but it does look like it would be idyllic!

Really nice pub on the lake. Didn’t get greeted with a smile, staff were unwelcoming; understandably it was a hot day. Ordered the roast beef and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Food was appalling. Potatoes cold, veg under cooked, cauliflower cheese was watery, beef was gristly and stone cold. Our waitress was super awkward felt like we couldn’t ask anything or say how we truly felt. Ordered the chicken instead and everything went in the microwave! Everything was super super super hot; chicken was dry. Wouldn’t return for a roast but definitely would try the pub grub that looks incredibly nice! gutted.

Really lovely atmosphere and attentive servers - just what you'd expect. I have some thoughts on the salad, though.... My salad was ordered from the Mains portion of the menu and sounded fantastic on paper, but upon arrival I was stunned by the size - no bigger than a side salad and without much substance to fill it (or me) out. Tasted fine, but the leaves were sadly drenched, which perhaps led to the overall deflated effect.😢 I figured the pieces of pork belly would be glazed as they were meant to be "sticky," but although they were otherwise nice, no delightful glaze or stickiness. My overall impression is that the maker of the salad left something(s) out or isn't so into making salads. My fellow diners' meals looked wonderful. 😊

The position of the pub overlooking the lake is beautiful and the staff are attentive but the food is overpriced and extremely disappointing. My partner had the double cheese burger, the burgers were thin and burnt and looked like they had come from a budget supermarket. The fish and chips were bland and the portion size was tiny. Not worth the £48 (which included 2 cokes). Won't be eating here again.

The view from the tables outside across the lake in the lovely sunshine is glorious. If you are here for drinks and a catch up with friends or family then wonderful. However... The food is adequate at best. We were a table of 5 with 4 roast dinners and a fish and chips and you are better going to a carvery than here. Every item on our plates was average and certainly not worth the prices they are charging. The fish and chips looked like something you would get at a spoons but with less chips. The desserts were good though. The service was very good with very attentive staff. I would not come again for food but possibly for drinks and only if I could sit outside.

If there were a -⭐️ then I'd chose that, short of that, I will give one ⭐️! First a d the last time I will ever go to this place again. Reasons?: 1- Services: as me and my wife entered, no one directed us to a table. When we sat, the table was as filthy one could imagine, I'd havr to get my jacket cleaned!!! 2- When asked for a glass of wine to start, when it arrived the outside of them glass had more wine then the inside... not even doilies. 3- Starters; one little olives so small I needed a microscope to see them... !!! 4- all the servers (5 of them around my table) but I had to go pick up my drinks off the bar, since I was waiting for someone to bring g them to us for easily 5 min.. 5- Ordered a fish n chips and a burger, I would not even feed them to my dogs, let alone ... the oil in which it was fried in was so burnt that as soon as we came back home my wife was sick! All the way from SM2 area to this place for that kind of "services ? I am a chef, and know when the food is high quality! This was far from it!!! I paid £100.46 , 10% service charge for that ??? If you have any decency, then you would refund the money at the very least!!! Never again !!! The only good part of it was the view of the lake, and that was part of nature, free of charge!

What an absolutely beautiful setting! I could have stayed here all day! It was table service. The staff were polite, friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. They always seemed to know just the right time to come over. The food was nice and what I saw of other food coming out, it all looked good! I would highly recommend the garlic ciabatta! I would say I paid more that I'd been planning to for my lunch here, but it was more than worth it! The location alone had me captivated. Visiting the toilets was a little bit of an obstacle. The building is obviously old, but quirky and looked after. Be careful on the stairs and mind your head!

Had a really nice Sunday dinner watching people water-ski. Food was really nice - I had the lamb roast. I was a bit surprised that the meat was a sort of 'pulled' thing but it was very nice and all the trimmings were done perfectly, with a very tasty gravy. Very rich chocolate tart for afters. Service was good. Just annoyed that they had Harvey's on draft and I was driving! Would definitely go again.

Beautiful setting. Staff and service very good. We ate outside but heaters were not good enough to heat our table so we got very cold very quickly. We did ask for blankets but were told they didn't have any, then when we went to the toilet we saw a pile of them waiting to be given out . When food was served it got cold very quickly. Which was a shame as it was very nice before it got cold. Would go back and eat inside straight away but would Waite till hotter weather before eating outside again.

The Wiremill is an absolute gem of a pub. We first visited because my parents moved to the area, and we initially thought we were heading down the wrong road because it’s so tucked away. It’s worth the trip though — at the end of a long and winding lane you’ll find a huge lake with The Wiremill right next to it looking out. Head in for a good pint of ale (often Harvey’s is on tap), and a good selection of wines and soft drinks. The food is fantastic — everything we’ve tried has been a delight so far: halloumi fries, the triple cooked chips, the Greek salad. Not to mention the Sunday roasts which are a triumph. Be sure to book if intending to visit on a Sunday as the place gets packed out! Can’t wait to return in the summer when it’ll be warm enough to have a drink outside. When we visited they had chilled music playing on the speakers outdoors — the ideal vibe for a weekend evening.

The food here has gone down really badly! Very expensive! What to avoid : Nduja Chicken with tomato, firstly potatoes “crushed garlicky” what this means is baby potatoes cut in half, not cooked till soft so rock solid and no garlic… not crushed, and soft but crunch but just plain potatoes. The chicken came out cold TWICE!!!!! On one of the hottest days in September, so god knows how long been sitting there for. Second thing we ordered was fish pie - AVOID!!! This has no fish but lots of eggs and lots of mash potatoes which was dry and cold ! Third thing was the steak pie, this is very much a shop bought microwave pie on top of shrivelled kale and carrots ! Again was cold and took two attempts to be warmed up. I use to rave about this place but will never go back.

Overall a very good experience, the surroundings are simply amazing, with a stunning view over the lake. The staff, although fairly young are very nice and with manners you don’t find in a classic London pub. The food was really good too, my burger was just the way I liked it. Not a bad word to say about this place, we had an amazing time and will definitely be back!!

We drove past the sign and decided to turn around to have lunch here. Great spontaneous decision! Food was good, reasonable priced. Staff were all very friendly. And we had lovely lakeside view. Very peaceful and chilled place. Another little gem worth returning to.

Very nice pub with great views. BEWARE OF LOW TOILET DOOR. I AM 6FT 2 AND THE DOOR HEIGHT IS MUCH TOO LOW, AS YOU BEN DOWN TO COME THROUGH DOOR AND SURFACE THERE IS A LARGE WOODEN BEAM. I HIT MY HEAD VERY BADLY AND HAVE HAD CONCUSSION FOR 4 WEEKS NOW. Write to pub management informing them of the danger but no response, not even an email to see we would look into the health and safety aspects of the incident. Otherwise a great pub. Food is mediocre though for the price range.

Great location, only negative was I asked for my steak medium and it was very rare and what I did eat was mostly tough. Not sure about you but I don't send my steaks back! On the plus side everyone else in my party thought the food was great.

Very nice setting, great friendly and helpful staff. Good Covid hygiene observed. Good was of a high standard, had Morrocan lamb shank, very nice indeed, just nedded a little more plus/ vegetables as essentially it was a Morrocan lamb shank with a chickpea sauce and 2 broccoli heads. Flavours were nice, well spiced but a little expensive. Puddings were nice and good proportions. Service was good and efficient. Recommended.

A lovely break in between Christmas and New Year! The Wiremill was perfect, lovely modern room, food was very good and the young staff are a credit to this boutique hotel/pub! The outdoor seating area, with heating and views over the lake was so relaxing too! All in all a we had a wonderful stay here and will certainly be back!

Sunday roast. Had the turkey roast, everything was tasty perfectly cooked. Dessert was a sticky toffee pudding nice portion size, and the sauce was nice with a treacle flavour, and avoided being too sweet. Service was great and staff were friendly and professional, if I had anything to say, it would be the panelling on the outside, put in during COVID times to serve outside, but for me it takes away the magic of being directly next to the lake like it used to have, as it's now just plastic windows. Overall. Though top marks for food, service and atmosphere in general. 🙃

Nice , peaceful location on a lake . Food was excellent with a good selection of dishes and beers. Service was good and staff friendly. Would definitely go back , probably in the summer as it will be nice looking out over the lake with a cold beer. Did find it a tad expensive

  • 2/5 Suzanne S. 4 months ago on Google
Disappointing 😞. Not our usual experience of this place. The bacon was almost entirely fat with no actual meat. The sausages were barely cooked - one had zero browning on it - maybe pre-cooked and just warmed through in the microwave? The sourdough toast was warm but again had no browning on either serving. Just warm, dry bread. One of our coffees was served up in a small (espresso?) cup, was a latte rather than a flat white. We've been before, so know what to expect. One pot of beans was only half full. Admittedly, the restaurant was slightly busier than usual and you could see they were working on getting things ready for their lunchtime guests but it wasn't that busy! We struggled to get the attention of our waitress to bring this up. The glass of water I asked for never appeared. We had to ask another member of staff who was some way off if we could pay, having sat there for fifteen minutes with the bill. God knows why we didn't challenge the service charge on this occasion because it really wasn't deserved.

Visited The Wire Mill for lunch. Situated on the edge of a lake there was a scenic view from our table, out of the window. I had the Steak & Tangle Foot Pie. It was extemely tasty with juicy pieces of beer in a thick gravy , all in a crusty pastry pie. The mash was creamy and smooth. Could have down with some more veg to go with it, although the red cabbage was delicious. A lovely pub to have drinks, lunch or dinner.

  • 2/5 Paul M. 3 months ago on Google New
We had breakfast here, and it was pretty awful. The veggy breakfast sausages were really really overcooked and so was the 'patty', only just edible. The stale toast came dry, we had to ask for butter. In my opinion, whoever cooked the breakfast was not a chef. Hard yolk poached eggs, and breakfast mostly cold. We won't return

Oh we just love this place! The menus are always fab and food is DE-LISH, the staff are always very friendly and attentive and the scenery? Well, it’s lush inside and out! Always recommending this place to anyone and everyone and love taking our friends there when they come to see us.

Great location, friend staff and nice food! The staff were superb! Our room was excellent, very clean and well presented! The dinner we had was delicious! Both my children are quite fuzzy but they were both very pleased! On the day of check in our sitter fell through, so we had to call the hotel and explain the issue we had. Even though there's no extra beds, they had no trouble with us bringing our two children (5 and 10) with us. One shared our bed and for the other we built a small fort/bed on the floor which they loved! The staff, particularly Leona, really were excellent and allowed us to have a wonderful stay! She even arranged for a bottle of prosecco to be in the room as I had put it was a stay to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary and there were also some rose petals on the bed, nice touch! Even if the stay ended up being a family night away it was appreciated. She even helped me to get some flowers delivered to the hotel on the day before we arrived and put them in our room for us! Top customer service, will definitely come back!

Well this is just a lovely pub overlooking a water ski lake I've been visiting here for nearly 30 years and I'd say it's pretty much the best it's ever been.. enjoy

A absolutely stunning historic old foundry mill turned into the beautful restaurant bar. Stunning inside and out with seating on the decking sat on the edge of the lake. Beautiful vibes, great views, friendly help staff and grand food 10/10. The food was great with a good selection. Plenty of choices to drink. I would phone and reserve seating for the best views.

Booked a table for 7 of us at lunchtime over Easter weekend. Food was delicious and the portions were good. We sat outside by the lake and it was lovely despite being busy. I would recommend it and go again for great quality meal. Only issues were: Parking was difficult and indoors had different levels and was dim, making it hard for elderly members of our group to use the facilities.

We shared a lovely birthday lunch on a Wednesday. There was a good vibe with relaxed, happy customers, The food was delicious, well presented, perfectly cooked, just not 5 stars, as the caramelised onion relish was missing from the starter and pumpkin seeds from the main. (Otherwise, it would have been 5 stars). It's not too pricey, especially for celebrations, we had cocktails as well (one non-alcoholic, a house special) and the location is wonderful, tucked away, listening to birdsong and watching the water skiing on the lake. Definitely recommend.

  • 4/5 Caroline W. 1 year ago on Google
I've been here a couple of times - the food was brilliant and the view outside is lovely, but they let themselves down with the really slow service. They give you a fixed time slot which is fine, but we were waiting so long for the waitress to take our main and dessert orders that by the end of our time slot she came up to us before everyone had finished their drinks asking us to leave the table because they had another booking in 15 minutes. If the service hadn't been so slow this wouldn't have been an issue and we would have been finished in time!

Beautiful lakeside location. Free parking. Lots of outside eating tables ( with heaters and rugs). Inside the Wiremill is filled with oak beams and fairy lights. Lots of friendly and efficient staff. No long waits for anything. Food was delicious. We had Sunday lunch. Roast beef and the vegetarian squash, spinach and mushroom wellington. Generous portion sizes. Well cooked and we had clean plates! I highly recommend the Wiremill and we will return.

Beautiful setting , food delicious ,friendly and just the right amount of attentive service. Celebrating the hubby's birthday his medium rare babette was 'so good' My chicken (butchers block cut of the day) was very tasty indeed . Thank you for a very lovely lunch. We need to come back there was so much to choose from on the menu .

We ate here today. Food was super hot, fresh and exquisitely tasty. The team are friendly, the service and pace delightful. The setting is beautiful. We can’t wait to go back in the warmer drier months. But don’t miss out on the cosiness you feel in there even now in wet December !

Beautiful outdoor space for lunch, dinner or drinks! The food is delicious, on the higher side of prices but lovely! Was disappointed with the gluten free, dairy free cheesecake for dessert - it has a very strange texture and taste, myself and friends couldn’t put our finger on the flavour, but we ended up leaving it.

Very picturesque location. Outside seating next to lake. Seats are hard wood, not very comfortable. Didn't go inside pub. Tasty food well presented. Quick service but gets busy so must book in advance. It says when booking they take £10 deposit in case of cancellation but didn't take anything from my card so don't let this put you off. Large car park, watch out for speed bumps and potholes down road leading up to pub.

Fantastic food and a beautiful location. One of my absolute favourite places to go. Hidden down a long little bumpy lane it's one of those perfect little spots, a hidden jewel far from the hustle and bustle. Plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options (including a gorgeous chocolate brownie dessert) My other highlights are their classic beer battered fish and chips, the bacon and cheese burger or even the decadent bangers and mash!

Nice pub/restaurant. We were sat in the pub with no lake view, it is quite crowded with tables and next to the kitchen door which bangs shut all the time. I think a table up the top of the restaurant would be a different atmosphere. Food was good but too much fat on the beef, some people like it, we didn't. Other than that the roast was lovely.
