The best place in Downtown for private personal training. I've been working there for a couple months now but can definitely say the studio has become my second home. Special thanks to owners Nick and Phil for running everything so professionally, smoothly and with respect to every detail. The place is always super clean, the vibe is amazing and everyone supports each other in achieving ther goals:) My clients always feel safe trainng there because they know how much attention is being paid to provide health safety during this time.

I've been going there for more than a year now with my partner and it has greatly improved my life. Amazing people, great space and very well equipped. It's hands down the best gym experience I've ever had.

Although I'm new to the gym/personal training scene in Vancouver, I couldn't imagine a better setup. Phil is an absolute wealth of knowledge, a great motivator, and an all around great guy. My customised training plans are tough but fun, and rotate every six weeks to keep things fresh. Each of the other coaches I've run into have also been fun and friendly as well. The overall space is well equipped and spacious, giving a private studio feel to your workout. As someone that had never thought the gym would be for me, I can't recommend West Coast Strength & Movement enough as "the" place to start your fitness journey.

Can you still improve your strength and flexibility after 60? Yes you can! I used to hate exercising, but not anymore. I’ve been training with Clayton Mackoruk for more than a year and I’m stronger, more flexible and all my little pains I thought were age related are gone. The people in this gym are serious about strength and movement and unlike other gyms I’ve tried everybody here are friendly and supportive. It’s too late for me to be young and good looking, but it’s not too late to be old and strong.

I was referred to Phil at West Coast Strength and Movement to help me prepare for an upcoming soccer season in a competitive league. Right off the start I knew Phil was the perfect coach for me. He took the time to understand my goals, he completed a full movement assessment ( not all coaches will do this! ), in every session he makes sure I understand the purpose of a certain exercise. He genuinely cares about my progress. It has been 8 weeks and I am thrilled about the progress we are making in making sure I am strong and ready to go for when I need to compete already! Everyone at WCS and M is super friendly. In my first visit I was greeted by Nick who took the time to show me around and answered questions I had at the time. I appreciated that and felt welcomed right away. ( Thank you Nick! ) The facility is super clean, modern, equipped with all the right equipment and the music is always on point! I would highly recommend this training facility to anyone who is serious about training and needing support along the way to reaching their fitness goals.

The initial assessment with Nick was a great introduction to the space. He was super welcoming, and went over what my goals were in coming. I’ve been seeing Clayton for 4 months now and have seen great results. He makes the sessions hard work but fun and I look forward to going. I can see how my body has changed and I feel stronger in my every day activities. I’m excited for the next few months where I will continue hit new gains. Thanks Clayton!

In the short time I've been working with Phil I have seen consistent improvement in my running, stability and resilience to injury. I've been seeing gains and improvements in speed and endurance without increasing my weekly mileage or workout frequency.

Love this place! I was pretty nervous to start training as an absolute beginner, but my trainer Clayton made me feel confident and relaxed from the first session. He's very knowledgeable, and is helping me getting over some chronic lower back issues. Definitely recommend this place to everybody:)

I would highly recommend West Coast Strength & Movement. One of the best gyms I've trained at in Vancouver. Truly a welcoming and friendly community and environment. The space is clean and the trainers are incredibly professional.

Great gym and location. If you like to train in a good environment with neat equipment this is the place I would go. Want to workout during lunch break or in the morning just before work ? they got you covered with private showers and towels. The space is big with 4 or 5 squat rack with integrated pullup bars, a monkey ladder, some gymnastic rings . Personal barbells and plates for every station so you don't have to wander around to find what you need. I go there once a week to train in Olympic weightlifting and I love it . will post picture next time I'm hitting there

I've been looking for the right trainer and gym for a long time before I stumbled upon Kenneth Lo and West Coast in 2019. As a novice, I felt the gym incredibly welcoming and non-intimidating. The trainers who train here are dedicated professionals, and I see a lot of the same trainees over the years as well. Kudos to Nick and Phil for running such a nice gym community.

This gym is for people looking for results and learn about physical health/fitness.If you plan to run on a treadmill and watch tv while doing so this is not the gym for you.All personal trainers are certified professionals and it shows as soon as you walk into the gym. If you believe you deserve the best, look no further than west coast strength and movement.

I have been a client of Nick Middleton for the past 10 years. I have also been a client since the inception of West Coast strength and movement. Nick is a truly amazing trainer. His knowledge of anatomy and functional exercises is excellent. Nick has effectively helped me deal with various injuries and vastly improved my fitness level. My wife and I train with Nick every week. Training sessions are always varied and challenging. The studio is very well organized with top notch equipment. I always look forward to our time with Nick. I highly recommend Nick.

I am so happy that I found Phil & West Coast Strength & Movement. I was very interested in Gymnastic Strength Training and Phil has been an amazing trainer on my journey. The gym itself is great as well. It has the equipment you need. It's clean well maintained, centrally located with a great vibe to it. If you are looking for a great space to get trained at, look no further.

Incredible facility! The trainers are so approachable, the equipment is top notch, and the atmosphere is king! My trainer Brooke is nothing short of amazing. Not only does she make the training fun while also having me put in the work, she is extremely knowledgeable and her skill set is super versatile. She is constantly adjusting my program based on my progress to help me better achieve my goals. I highly recommend her and this facility to anyone looking for a place to train.

West Coast Strength and Movement is by far the best training facility I have been to. Training with Phil is my favourite part the week. All of the trainers are extremely welcoming and friendly creating a positive environment to train in. My results training here have surpassed anything else I have tried and I couldn’t be happier with my customized program. Phil is extremely knowledgeable and passionate and I am grateful for his expertise and to work with him. This is the best place in the city to train!

Very convenient location right next to the Stadium-Chinatown station. The gym has done a fantastic job to keep social distancing and an efficient space to work out. I love the West Coast Strength & Movement. Everyone is very respectful and the gym is professional. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend this place! The management takes COVID seriously and has put in the right measures to ensure safety. My trainer wiped down all equipment immediately after using it. It was great to come in for a workout during Covid and feel safe. The equipment is new and my trainer Alex is extremely knowledge. Good location, personable staff and great environment to workout. Can’t say enough good things.

I highly recommend this gym. It's a very positive environment for personal training. Phil is very knowledgeable and I am very happy with the customized programs he keeps making to help me reach my goals. The small gym makes it a great place to feel comfortable, especially when like me you're not use to "going to the gym". And even during the pandemic everything feels safe and clean with every equipment being cleaned up after being used. Great place, amazing trainers, highly recommend !

West Coast Strength & Movement is a hidden gem. Having been referred here by a friend, I can say coming here has been one of the best decisions I've made for myself. The gym is small, very clean, and extremely well run. Everyone is super friendly and you are made to feel welcome - no matter what your level of fitness. I have been training with Phil for only a few months but am so happy with the individual program he created for me and continues to change as I get stronger. Phil is a wonderful human who cares about his clients and wants them to be the best they can be - whatever that looks like. I feel very lucky to be able to come here and work with such a knowledgeable and wonderful person.

There is nothing but love with this awesome gym. I had been a long time member to other “big gyms” in the past and I have say Westcoast is just beyond awesome. The trainers & owners always go above and beyond with the members and the gym. I like how each trainer are very knowledgeable and holistic about fitness & wellness. They always make me feel welcoming and non-intimidating. You can tell each of them care a lot about the members and the gym. Equipments and space are always clean & organized. Totally a hidden gem. Once you’re there and tried out, you can feel the difference :) If you prefer a female trainer, try it with Tanya. Highly recommended!!

😠 It became impossible to work out here in a timely manner. There's just too many people to the point where you won't be able to find any available machines or even floor space for your mat. The change rooms are neglected on a daily basis. The floor is disgusting to step on, either wet or dirty, and p...

👍 It’s a nice gym - one of the best in Vancouver in terms of size and quality of equipment. It’s great they have a women’s only section that is well equipped. However the way they get you to join is by pressuring you with deals. They advertise a ‘3 day free trial’ but that’s not really true, since you...
