Matevulu Blue Hole was eerily empty when we visited. We dropped out 1000VT into an honesty box and climbed straight in. Less fish in this one, and it’s less clear than Riri and Nanda, but the bird calls here are amazing. For the daring there are rope swings and a slide entry, with a strategically placed bottle of water to lubricate your entry. It’s 17 meters deep so no need to worry about hitting the bottom. For the less daring, there are cement staircases down into the deep, cool, blue water. The exceptional colour comes from a combination of extraordinarily clean water and it being filtered through limestone underground.

We took an Island Time Kayak River Tour to get here and it was honestly amazing. We had the whole place to ourselves so it was peaceful and beautiful. Bring snorkel gear since there are a few fishes to spot; the rocks can be sharp and slick so I recommend water shoes as well.

Entry cost 500vt (AU$5). A popular tourist spot and a fabulous place to relax and take a swim in the clear cool water. Water life included fish & a sea snake. Climb the large banyan tree with rope swing or hire a kayak. Recommend wearing reef shoes, rocks in and around the water are sharp under feet. There is a toilet block and is free to use.

Beautiful blue water and very clear. A must see if you're in the area. Don't forget your snokeling gear! There are also multiple swinging ropes around the area to use. Must be a good swimmer to go here as there are no shallow areas.

This is the rivers source and a beautiful place to swim. Entry fee is 500 Vatu per person which goes directly to the owner, a local. Has some rope swings and beautiful clear water. I recommend going up the river with a kayak as it is an adventure by itself.

Absolutely stunning. It is possibly one of the biggest blue holes on Santo. The colour of the water in the main part is an intense blue

One of the best fresh water blue holes you will find on Santo. Around half hour taxi ride from Luganville. The largest of the 3 on the east coast. Bring a picnic lunch and stay for the day. Entry was 500vt pp. You can hire snorkelling gear for an extra 500vt.

It is a rare sight and very unique. Like the Sawailau caves in Fiji.

Very beautiful ! Perfect for jumping with a big rope and a small one. Not great for chilling, because it’s only rocks around it. I would recommend to spend 1h to 1h30 max and then move on to another hole like Nanda Blue Hole or the beach like Champagne Beach.

Gorgeous!!! But be warned - you will need to lather in DEET or strong mosquito repelant as the mosquitoes are terrible.

Costs 1000VT (10 USD) per person for entry, Taxi from town should cost 2000VT to 2500VT each way maximum Drivers will tax a new tourist charging 5000VT each way if you're not careful. Really nice place for a swim, had a dodgy pipe slide and a rope swing and a tree to jump from.

Can't believe the water, it's so clear you won't believe your eyes, there are ropes for jumping in the water. If jumping from heights is your thing, you can always rent a kayak and row down the river. Not pricey like rest of the places and totally amazing.

Amazing swimming holes full of freshwater fish, eels and crabs. Great rope swings, one big one, another suitable for all ages and one more in the corner that's not sad good but still fun

The best blue hole of this coast : wild, well arranged. There is a long slide and a swimming rope. To go there, there is a sign on the road. Keep the way on the right, not on the left.

  • 5/5 Anton M. 6 months ago on Google
Extremely beautiful blue hole in an easy to reach location. Just follow the road and signs will guide you there. The color of the water is just amazing and surrounded by beautiful red flowers the overall scene is picturesque. We were lucky enough to be there by ourselves with enough time to try the stairs as well as the slide.

Very nice, amazing. It has all the wow factor specially when less busy. Highly recommend a cano or kayak trip from the ocean tip of the river. Great for swim in a hot day. Highly recommend it.

Best Blue Hole in Santo, natural, clear and easy to get to in a traditional dug out paddled by a local for approx 1000vatu per person. Or walk in 15 mins from the main road. We had him paddle us back down the river to the mouth of the bay and across to Oyster Island afterwards for a great lunch at the resort there for an extra 1000vatu total. Oyster island resort is very friendly they took us out snorkeling on a private trip(3000vatu) with a guide and driver/captain for 3 hrs. The highlight was Turtle island- the best deep water snorkeling was did on out 10 day trip.

Beautiful spot, well worth a visit. Please be mindful to ensure you do not leave anything behind when you leave. It would be a shame for this natural beauty to be ruined with rubbish from tourists.

(Translated by Google) It is the largest blue hole in Vanuatu. The water was clear and very clean. Rather than blue, the color changes depending on the degree of light and depth, with emerald green or turquoise blue. There were few people and I was able to spend a relaxing and quiet time. It was very nice. Because the straps are tied in, you can dive and it is fun for you. Admission fee is 500x. There are other blue holes nearby, so I think you can enjoy both.

(Translated by Google) It's very nice there, but when 300 people from a cruise ship arrive at the same time (1 lady and men's room on site) and jump into the lake, the visit is not much fun (Original) Ist ja ganz nett dort, wenn aber 300 Menschen von einem Kreuzfahrtschiff gleichzeitig hinkommen (je 1 Damen und Herrentoilette vor Ort ) und in den See springen, macht der Besuch wenig Spass
