This historical monument is a landmark for 2500 years old Iranian Kingdom. Mohammad Reza پهلوی, the last king of Iran ordered to build this tower which was completed in 1971. It has a Azadi Cultural Complex, which also includes an underground museum. I visited the site in July 2001. It a marvelous place to be visited.

Azadi Tower Museum, is an exposition of arts, national heritage, and cultural handicraft. The museum is actually located inside Azadi Tower. It contains different themas and various artifacts. The entrance to facilities inside the tower is located directly underneath the main vault which leads into the Azadi museum on the basement floor. The museum also provides a unique expo of precious stones which is called unique by some sources. The collection contains 140 different stones such as Amber, diamonds, rubies, emeralds and semi-precious stones like turquoise and, onyx, Picture Jasbr, etc. Since the museum is located inside a must- see the tower of Tehran (which is also called as symbol and monument of the city), and the fact that Azadi square is also a nice place to visit while in Tehran, We recommend you not to miss it.

The Azadi Tower, or "Freedom Tower", is a monument located in Azadi Square, in Tehran, Iran. It is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Tehran, marking the west entrance to the city, and is part of the Azadi Cultural Complex, which includes an underground museum. The tower is about 45 meters (148 ft) tall and is completely decked in cut marble. It was commissioned by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, to mark the 2,500th year of the foundation of the Imperial State of Iran.

The Azadi Museum, as its name suggests, is located in the Azadi Tower. In this museum objects of the BC period such as Achaemenid, Parthian and Sassanid, as well as Islamic courses, paintings and carpets are displayed.

The tower is about 45 metres (148 ft) tall and is completely clad in cut marble.[1][2] It was commissioned by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, to mark the 2,500-year celebration of the Persian Empire and completed in 1971. It also serves as the country's kilometre zero. After winning a competition, architect Hossein Amanat was tasked to design the tower. His ideas were based upon classical and post-classical Iranian architecture,[3] popular influences on art in the 1960s following the White Revolution. Iran's increasing wealth sparked modernization programs and sent the art industry into a renaissance-like period.
