Cockroaches,
hygiene
and
integrity
issues
We
killed
two
cockroaches
during
our
one
night
stay
and
we
felt
our
contact
(Sreejith)
and
the
boat
manager
(JP)
were
not
being
honest
in
handling
this
incident.
Furthermore
they
did
not
provide
any
solution
remedy
when
highlighting
this
problem.
On
the
hygiene
concern:
We
were
told
by
JP
that
"The
coackroaches
just
jumped
on
the
boat
and
if
you
don‘t
want
cockroaches
you
need
to
book
a
resort,
not
a
houseboat."
We
checked
this
assertion
with
another
houseboat
owner
who
ensured
us
that
this
was
not
normal.
This
is
consistent
with
our
understanding
that
cockroaches
do
not
multiply
in
places
where
no
food
is
available
to
them.
I.e.
clean
places.
Next
to
the
cockroaches
we
also
found
a
large
human
toe
nail
in
the
bedsheets.
Again,
we
find
it
hard
to
believe
that
this
is
a
very
unfortunate
accident
and
that
cleaning
is
done
diligently
normally.
This
also
fits
with
what
we
saw
when
the
boat
was
hastily
changed
and
'cleaning'
seemed
to
consist
of
mostly
spraying
around
some
sanitizer
as
opposed
to
scrupulous
dust
and
dirt
removal.
We
have
slept
in
quite
some
primitive
stays
throughout
the
years,
and
we
are
used
to
things
like
spiders,
lizzards
etc.
But
I
never
ever
had
to
kill
two
cockroaches
before
in
my
own
room.
On
the
integrity
concern:
We
observed
multiple
examples
where,
in
our
view,
Sreejith
and
JP
where
contradicting
themselves
and/or
'facts
on
the
ground':
1
Both
stated
"that
it
is
the
first
time
you
saw
cockroaches
on
this
boat"
but
both
also
immediately
told
us
to
”turn
the
AC
on
so
they
will
not
come“.
Which
gave
us
the
idea
that
they
were
well
aware
of
the
issue
and
knew
how
to
prevent
it.
2
I
discussed
our
disappointing
experience
with
Sreejith
afterwards
and
there
he
explained
that
JP
did
not
know
English
very
well
and
the
whole
thing
therefore
was
a
mere
misunderstanding.
This
seemed
to
us
as
a
inappropriate
twist
of
the
truth.
We
had
very
clear
communication
with
JP
who
explained
us
that
"The
coackroaches
just
jumped
on
the
boat
and
if
you
don‘t
want
cockroaches
you
need
to
book
a
resort,
not
a
Houseboat."
There
was
no
miscommunication,
we
just
had
a
very
different
view.
Sreejith/JP
refused
to
provide
a
solution/remedy
during/after
the
incident:
We
asked
for
a
different
accommodation
during
the
night
as
we
killed
already
two
large
(2-5
cm)
cockroaches
in
our
room
but
were
told
that
that
was
not
possible
even
though
ample
options
were
available
in
the
area.
There
was
no
proposal
to
remedy
the
below-par
service
provided
afterwards
either.
For
full
context:
We
had
some
minor
miscommunications
preceding
this
incident
where
we
ourselves
also
made
a
mistake.
However
this
was
properly
addressed
by
Sreejith
at
the
time.
In
summary:
Based
on
all
the
positive
reviews
I
would
assume
this
is
a
perfectly
good
service
provider
if
all
goes
well.
However
hygiene
seems
to
be
only
practiced
at
the
surface
and
the
owners
of
the
boat
are,
in
our
view,
not
able
to
properly
handle
issues
when
they
occur.
Also
they
tend
to
resort
to
'talking
the
issue
away'
instead
of
providing
solutions.
We
hope
Sreejith
and
JP
will
be
able
to
reflect
on
the
above
and
improve
their
service
with
it.
