Grabbed a "quick" Italian lunch here after touring St. Peters' Basilica. The food was decent and convenient. Lunch was rather expensive for what it was (see receipt, 42 Euro for 2!), but we were hungry and didn't want to drag out the where-do-we-eat-lunch debate. Sure, we could have gone over a few more blocks, and maybe picked just as badly. Probably should have held off on the caffé for an actual bar and saved about 5 euro.

Entered without looking at the reviews and already felt it was a strange restaurant. For background, it was 12pm on a Thursday. It was quite empty and I was immediately sat down for 1 person. I had to use the bathroom immediately, so I went and left my bag on the table so they don’t think I’m leaving. As soon as I get back from the bathroom and BEFORE I could even sit down, he came up to me asking what I will be ordering. Like… I haven’t even seen the menu yet but luckily for him and myself I already knew what I wanted; a Carbonara and Aperol Spritz. They were both not bad at all. So not much complaints about the food. When I got the check he IMMEDIATELY pointed out that the check didn’t include a service fee, so obviously he was expecting a cash tip. Red flag. The Carbonara was 15 euro and the Aperol was 10 euros. I’ve never seen an Aperol so expensive in Italy, not even in Positano in the Amalfi was it 10 euros, close but still under 10 euros. So maybe they overcharged on some items that actually reflected the service fee but stated there was no service fee to scam. No idea but overall I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you feel like you want to be stressed or scammed in some way. But if you’re in dire need of food and starving and can’t find another establishment then by all means, the food isn’t terrible. I read another review that said they had to pay cash only, they DEFINITELY accept credit card. Be careful here.

When I came to Rome with my family for the first time in 2004, this particular pizzeria was the first one we came across. Now I see that it has a bad rating, but for us the service was very good. Friendly waiter and the food was completely correct. An additional memory that does not disappear is that we ate right across from our embassy. A really interesting coincidence.

Gastronomic Purgatory steps from the Vatican. The food was mediocre in every respect, the service was poor but not terrible. The elegant ambiance of the outdoor seating gets canceled out by the gas station like bath room in the basement. Just go deeper into Rome and find something else.

"Can confirm the other reviews about rude staff, inflated prices and naff food are all accurate." Exactly what he said. Somehow this was both the worst quality and the most expensive lunch we've had in Rome. Do yourself a favor and eat anywhere else.

Worse place I've even been! In Rome/ Vatican the people are nice, welcoming and friendly. The bar is disgusting, dirty, expensive and the people are really rude so please avoid this people If you don't want to have a really bad experience. Go somewhere else and meet the real lovely Italian people

We enjoyed our lunch at Universal Bar. Service was prompt and very friendly. I enjoyed fettuccine bolognese and my wife had pizza with mushrooms. Prices were very reasonable.

We enjoyed our visit here. The food was delicious and the staff friendly. Great view as it is located near St. Peter's Basilica. Also the best Tiramisu in Rome

Award Winnie’s of the worst food I’ve had in Italy for the last week. The pizza crust is unacceptably hard as if it was premade or frozen, my lasagna is microwave heated, gooey and stale. A tourists trap that deserves the bad rating on Google maps. Avoid the toilets: super super dirty

It was shady and cool, mid-afternoon, and there was a table outside. It is a good place to rest, with excellent service. The spaghetti amatriciana is fine, and I give fours stars here because I spent some time people-watching, with no one rushing me out.

Pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t expecting much since this restaurant is just outside St. Peter’s and in a touristy area. I’m glad I didn’t check out the google reviews before stopping either. The service was excellent as was the food. We were a party of six and we all enjoyed our meals.

Lovely view and good after an afternoon of lots of walking. Great drinks food and service. The restroom could have used some service and upkeep but it was also so busy!
