Lovely flat out and back course with a loop and some single track. Lots of enthusiastic runners/walkers and volunteers. Easy access to major highways. Parking can be a problem so get there early. Dog friendly (1 dog on a leash per runner rule is enforced)

Best Park Run in Johannesburg. Great turnout each weekend with enough space for all runners and their animals to share the space. Lovely scenic environment with route lapping around the dam. Definitely one of the most favoured venues of all Park Runs in Gauteng. All visitors to Gauteng Park Runs or Gilloolys Park Run should definitely give it a try! Highly recommended.

Great parkrun with great people! The parkrun is well managed and runs smoothly even when there are a lot of runners. Plenty of parking is available and dogs are allowed. There is also sometimes a mobile coffee shop serving coffee after the run.

Great parkrun. Well organized and always a good turnout. Dog friendly. Flat and not too challenging terrain wise. The parkrun is about the only thing keeping Gillooly's farm alive. Safe during parkrun but unsafe any other time - don't hang around afterwards. Parking is inadequate, the facilities of the venue itself are falling apart. Lots of loose and uneven paving stones.

Park run volunteers and organizations try hard and make it a good run and safe environment. The actual park and facilities are not well kept and are in a state of neglect unfortunately.

Lovely parkrun, although there are some strange things which go on there. On a Saturday morning parkrun you'll find many people there praying and chanting in the bushes and along the trail.

It's a nice place to run but not after it rains. The ground get muddy with puddles and you could get hurt if you aren't careful.

Worth our trip. Lonehill was closed 31March, so our first. Parking easy and plenty, well organised, clear and quirky instructions - well done Chris. The run takes you along the large part of the park with dam on your right, then between a concrete fence and a building (the Gillooley market was setting up on the left). Cones separate returning runners. Then along the section of Morninghill Green Park with the Jukskei river on your right. At a set pylon you turn with the Jukskei river and Harvey Municipal Nature Reserve on your left. The pathway takes you around the left of the dam through some undergrowth to make a turn and return with the dam on your left. There are times when you have runners passing you going the other way. The return run keeps the dam on the left with interesting scenery. This could be an A-grade park if it weren't for the rubbish lying around from the previous day. Sadly too, an old building on the property has been left to ruin. Well worth doing this park run.

As far as the park run goes, it was very well organised. I am however giving this a low rating due to the unkept nature of the park and lack of security. The security officers (of which I notices 3/4) sit in their gate house at the entrance and barely bother to look up when you enter / exit nevermind patrolling the park and parking lot. We were warned by park run officials to not leave any valuables in the car due to the high rate of car jamming and theft in this park. The nauseating pollution is another major dissapointment with areas of the park being so bad I had to cover my nose in order to avoid breathing in the toxic fumes coming from the frothy plastic ridden river.
