Very nice place super clean and smelled really good. Down fall is no one waits on customers had to stand around for a little over 5 minutes before somebody finally came. Then they helped everyone else that just showed up and bypassed us that we're standing there already. Other thing is the floor there has some rough spots but nothing to bad still really nice to skate. Only thing I'd like to see is better customer service at the front door and at the concession stand both places just left you standing around waiting...

Not sure if I can any longer recommend for private events. 2 years ago we had a private skate party for our son. We had a really awesome DJ, had them play typical skating games, an overall wonderful time. This year my son wanted his skating party again I can only assume because the party was on a Sunday, they did not want to work??? There was one decent lady working, unfortunately the only one working. To the point it would take 10 minutes to get a plastic fork. Trying to handle the food, the roller skates, the DJ, everything!!! One of our children found a ball on the floor and was playing with it, instantly they accused: our children of stealing it from a machine, The kids shoved it back in where it belongs, but it was found on the floor when we got here. One guy's walking around with his children playing. And one lady is doing nothing except giving everybody a very bad attitude and making sure she gets every dollar for a couple of extra parents watching their children skate. Although I do not agree, we had any extra people but a couple of parents picking up their kids. And of course no employees actually working to have any time or motivation for a head count. Refusing to change out roller skates for rollerblades for the children because there's 45 minutes left. Nothing but bad attitudes. Unhappy employees that do not want to be at work and a terrible environment for my family. Not sure what happened in the last 2 years But the awesome memories and experiences we had are gone now and we will probably not be returning. Maybe they shouldn't charge gratuity up front, and have the employees actually earn it?

There aren't a lot of good places to go roller skating in town, so we were excited to try this place out! The floor is rough, lots of bumpy spots, but overall the kids loved it!

GR Skate absolutely knocked it out of the park with their Junk Food Party package. Not only was it a blast for the kids but most of the parents ended up purchasing rentals because the nostalgia of the rink was calling. 10/10 would recommend for all ages.

My child has skated here many times. Nice, clean, and no complaints about the physical experience. The only thing that bugs the heck out of me is, the lack of pricing information on the website. I wish there was a very clear section, that said pricing and you could click on it and see each day...BOOM: this is the price each day and this is the roller blade rental price...

If you have your own skates, GR Skate and Event Center Byron Center is the place to go! You can walk right in there and skate for free without anyone noticing. If you need rentals, this is NOT the place to go. We decided after 7 we wanted to go skating but figured if we got there by 8 we would still have 2 hours to skate. However, when it takes 30 minutes to figure out who you have to pay and who is working the skate counter and then they spend another 30-40 minutes playing specials so your kids are only able to skate maybe 5 minutes in the first hour and 15 minutes... totally not worth it. And don't bother asking about a refund because they will just point out you could stick around until 10 for the chance at another 15 minutes of skating. Woo hoo! $30 well spent (NOT!). And $30 for 2 skaters and skates with 1 spectator seems a bit high but in fairness there, it's been awhile since we had been skating so could be the norm.

We had our 9-year-old's birthday party here and the experience could not have been better. The woman who coordinated the party for us was super friendly and took care of everything. The pizza was great, the sound system is great, and the kids had a blast.
