I don’t think it is worth to come from a distant lake location to here honesty. We spent 1,5 hours reaching the castle and in the end we had a exhausting experience of crawling through very busy streets of the old city packed with people eating ice cream, making photos and just pushing each other. This is a beautiful place I think when no one is around

Small castle but packs awesome views all around! It's surrounded by turquoise waters which is best viewed from the top tower. The water is so clear you can see giant fishes lazing below. The stairs are steep and narrow but worth climbing past your fear.

Beautiful and unique castle located right on the lake shore. The water actually goes into the outer part of castle like a boat garage. Didn't go inside the museum but from the outside was very nice. Main highlight when visiting Sirmione.

Absolutely stunning castle! When you think of a castle, this is what comes to mind. It's so pretty, and still has a fully functioning moat around it and drawbridge. If you get a boat tour from SirmioneBoats. It you will probably pass right under the drawbridge at the end of the tour, which is a really cool experience by itself

A stunning medieval castle overlooking Sirmione peninsula. It was built by the Della Scala family of Verona, also known as Scaligeri, in the 14th century. There is an entrance fee of 6€ (3€ for EU citizens) for adults. Completely free for children under the age of 18. If you wanna do additional site seeing you can get a 14€ full access ticket which also lets you into Archaeological site of Grotte di Catullo and the Roman villa in Desenzano. Inside the castle you can walk on the walls and climb the highest tower which gives an amazing 360 view of the city and the Garda lake. Take extra care when climbing the stairs as they are very narrow, short, and steep. Streets around the castle get very crowded and it’s very hard to find a parking spot nearby. Streets are narrow and open for car traffic so you will often have to either stop and let the car pass or hurry a bit not to cause traffic jams.

A place worth visiting. The castle is very nice. Also the panorama of the lake. Very crowded on weekends and full season. Parked 3 km away because of thousands and thousands of cars looking for a parking spot.

A stunning castle surrounded by water, and with a fortified dock. Inside you get free roam of the building and battlements, including the top of the keep which has great views over the town and lake. It wasn't too expensive, and it was definitely worth going inside!! You can't buy tickets in advance, but you can book a timeslot for free on the website, not that I needed to.

Visiting this tranquil, small medieval retreat past the peak season was an absolute delight. The serene atmosphere, the vast and clear lake with a horizon stretching out, and the charming blue ducks on the lake created an incredibly peaceful setting. I loved the feel of the quaint little cathedral and the delightful eateries and shops tucked away in the alleys. I'd love to revisit even during the bustling summer to experience the liveliness. Truly a hidden gem worth exploring!

Definitely worth the visit! We got combined ticket to see other ruins as well. It is a beautiful historical castle, also the main entrance to Sirmione's old city. You can get inside the castle and go all the way up to the highest tower. Even though the stairway was steep and in some places very narrow, the view from the top is breathtaking.

If you like old buildings, consider getting a combined ticket for this castle and the grotto. It's a cute little castle and you can climb up to the battlements and one of the towers, giving you a view of the harbor and the whole south side of the lake. Go a little later if you want to skip the lines in the off season, although I hear you can maybe buy tickets online? Might be worth doing that.

The castle is well preserved, and the views from the top are breathtaking. Tickets are really cheap, and kids under 18 have free entrance. I recommend to visit the castle early(before 10am)if you can, cause there are almost no tourists. Definitely worth a trip!

The most beautiful sunset that I have seen in my life! What an amazing experience! The castle is not that big so it is really easy to walk around and see every part of it. Totally recommend the entrance, the view you have from up there is incredible!

I finally arrived in Sirmione. I put off this trip for quite a few years. I am very satisfied with the city and its surroundings. The castle is extraordinary and worth a visit. Only €6 per person

Except for the few good views from top, not much to explore. But surprisingly, it keeps getting crowded on weekends. We had to wait for almost 30mins to get the ticket and access inside on a Sunday. One visit is on, and I would be surprised if you return here.

It's interesting to visit but nothing exciting about it. If you have been in English medieval castles, don't bother... The view fron the top is ok though.

Awesome place to visit. Beautifully restored with amazing views. Lots of steps up to the keep but worth it when you get there. Worth reading the pamphlet that you are given as it explains the history and different parts.

This was a fantastic place to visit . Children go free too. We visited Sirimone and enjoyed going up & around this amazing piece of hostory. Be warned you have one set of steps to go around the main first level which has great views, however to go right up in the top of the tower there are further steps too. But for an amazing 360° views its so worth it. Also the displays at the top help you know which direction certain towns around the Lake are too. You can also go out the back to where the boats would of come in on certain days/times so plan ahead and check the website.

We were actually staying in a hotel inside the castle. When you arrive and walk thro' the main gate it's like a fairytale. With the narrow streets, beautiful food in the restaurant's and beautiful things in the shops. We were even treated to a lighting storm whilst we were here. Amazing. Well worth a visit or even better stay in a hotel here.

Very beautiful castle when you enter Sirmione. Super crowded on weekends. Parking is almost impossible but you can get one if you are super lucky.

Great place to visit. The castle is built over a lake ; it is very well preserved. The surounding areas include a small chapel,., souvenir shops, places to eat and there's a boat ride you can enjoy. The lake is beautiful cristal clear water filled with ducks, swans and fish. There is also a dock for smaller boats.

An interesting historical sight just at the main entrance of Sirmione old city. The view from the top tower is absolutely amazing and you can see the entire area of Garda lake. I highly recommend arriving not on weekends, otherwise, prepare yourself for a long queue in the entrance .

It's a nice little Fort(to deter the enemy comes into attack); climb to the top and enjoy the view. Again, recommend go their in the afternoon around 3.00 p.m and enjoy the sunset for pictures.

This was a nice interesting castle to stroll around in. I do think some signage as you walk around would be good. There was a lot of information on the restoration works but not so much on the original building and use. It was pouring with rain while we visited so we may not have got as much out of it as we could have but that’s not their fault. I did think it strange that we had to engage with 3 people just to enter the building, 1 to tell us to wait beside a sign that said ‘wait’, 1 to sell the ticket and 1 to say enter and head to the right. These people were all within about 5 metres and earshot/sight of each other. Seemed overkill and a waste of money that could be spent on the castle itself, just my observation

Awesome to visit in the off season, still lots of people but nothing like it is in the summer I'm sure.

We loved visiting Sirmione and in particular the castle. It's beautifully maintained, and not too expensive to enter. The children adored climbing to the top to see the magnificent views. Absolutely worth a visit

  • 5/5 John G. 2 years ago on Google
The castle is beautiful from the outside but it is definitely worth paying the nominal charge to get into the castle, from inside the castle you can get great views of the town of Sirmione and see how the castle has been restored. It also gives you a great view of castle docks which are quite impressive.

One of the most beautiful and ancient tourist sites I've visited. It's pretty awesome in the summer. Tourist. Luxurious cars. Fun seekers. Well laid out streets.

Beautiful castle in very interesting place, offering beautiful views of Lake Garda and it's surrounding. You can buy tickets and climb on the top of the castle, and you can also take a boat tour arround Sirmione that offers outstanding view of the castle.

  • 4/5 Speck S. 2 years ago on Google
The place is beautiful next to Garda lake with many shops and restaurants. Hence very busy on weekend, so parking lot would be limited for that. However, it is a great place to visit.

  • 2/5 Agnieszka W. 2 years ago on Google
Cute, small castle… it’s much smaller in person than it seems on the photos. If you’re not that much into history of this place it’s not really necessary to get in, not worth paying 6€ per person. Nothing more to see than what you already see from the outside. For what it is, it should be free to enter.

Euro 7 full price, walk round walls for great views, access up to top tower bit difficult in places but accessible for most people. Worth a visit

Quirky little castle in a unique style. Very reasonably priced - you can do a combo ticket with the Roman ruins further down the peninsula. With a visit away from all the touristy shops below!

This is one of my favorite towns on lake Garda! I love everything about it and I enjoy visiting it in summer and in winter. The castle is beautiful, be ready to climb a few stairs if you go in to look at it, the view from the tower is quite lovely. Many restaurants, many ice-cream shops and places to get souvenirs and more! Can be enjoyed with little ones too!

Great view, small castle! I think this is a fun little adventure in Sirmione. It's worth the visit as it's not going to cost much. The tour can take up to half an hour to an hour, but it just depends on how much time you want to spend here. Highly recommend fun for all groups.

Beautifully maintained castle with a moat, and a few drawbridges. You can pay to enter the castle, and walk up to the top of the tower.

  • 4/5 Matthew M. 10 months ago on Google
An interesting castle in a beautiful location. Best experienced with the official 1, 2, 3, Musei del Garda app for its audio tours. Download the app and a tour before you visit. Without it you won't get as much context and history. You can make reservations ahead of time; I didn't need mine when I visited.

A beautiful castle set at the entrance of the peninsula, enjoy the views from the top of the walls and tower, history available at the entrance, only access to walls etc via steep steps .

  • 5/5 Dave Q. 10 months ago on Google
Just Gorgeous. A fabulous visit with family, kids or as a couple. Really great day out. Bring the togs, beach shoes, and a towel for a swim also. Castle is reasonably priced and the restaurant with the deck sitting on the lake is very posh but the pizza is very reasonable and beautiful!

a beautiful tourist attraction very busy and for the ice cream lovers...so much choice. lively to walk, shop and eat outside in gorgeous cafes and bars and restaurants. this in the place on Lake garda Italy called Simioni? spelling dodgy... go there it's lovely.

Did not enter but viewing the outside in the sunshine was worth the visit. Sat in a restaurant nearby and enjoyed talking about the castle and it's construction and beautiful colours. Visit the inside maybe next time we visit this part of the lake.

Visited this place on a Sunday via public transport bus. Be sure to get here fairly early to avoid long queues. We got there around 9.30 and there was only a queue of a couple of people ahead. The main ticket office offers a 3 ticket combo for 15 euros which is for the castle, nearby ruins and a small musuem which is further away. The castle offers fantastic views from the top of the castle. Would highly recommend visiting as its a stunning piece of architecture and offers lots of photo opportunities.

  • 5/5 Meryem D. 9 months ago on Google
Such a lovely beach town and castle. The only problem was bus, i wish it would be easier to get there. We took the train to peschiera del garda station and then we took the bus for sirmione and then we took the castle bus. It was such a long journey. I mean it's a very nice place it definitely worth the travel but it could be nice if it weren't that difficult to reach there haha

  • 5/5 Rob W. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful place but didn't go inside as we were busy looking around and walking everywhere. Church across from the entrance is worth a visit.
