A small and well maintained aquarium. It is situated closer to the Edava beach It's a very nice Aquarium, maintained by Kerala fisheries department. The building itself have a traditional Kerala style and its really asthetic and airy. They have a good collection of fish breeds of exotic species also. The scenic Varkala cliff is visible from the building area, and the lush of sea breeze can be churned upon from the walk-way. The aquarium makes for an exciting diversion from the beach. Definitely need improvement, hardly you get to see unknown fishes, just felt few aquariums at home are moved here. We get to see more aquatic things in a aquarium shops than here..maintenance is not great as it was stinking..Places surrounding is beautiful including the beach view.. if you have too much time to spend only then you can visit. This aquarium and hatchery has a very good infrastructure. The building is well built and is capable of expansion. The fish variety and number of fishes in display is less. There is less crowd hence expansion is a problem. They have a very good park for kids and a 3d theatre which can play the show if there are 10 people.

Place is pretty much deserted, not much fishes out there. Went to see the lion fish but sadly its no more. 30 Rupees is the entrance fees for adults and 15 for kids. There is a park next to it by the beach side. It had a 3D theatre but its closed.

So on our trip to Kerala, we went to Varakala and then went to Aquarium on people's recommendation. Not very happy with the suggestion. This place was not maintained well. No air conditioning. A lots of fish tanks were empty and unclean. Not a lot of varieties were seen. It was hard to find the entrance looking at the google map. It is close to black beach Varkala. It can be maintained well. The ticket to this place was 30 per adult. Did not enjoy that much. The most interesting thing was seeing jellyfish and reading fun facts about them.

It's located near to vizhinjam Light House. A must visit place and a good informative place to bring your children. All the marine life here are maintained and taken care with top quality facilities. You can find some special sea species and seeing the stingray and sea turtles is a treat to watch. Very helpful and polite staff including the securities guards. Varkala Aquarium is located 4 Km from Railway station 2Km from Papanasham. beach and temple and 1 Km from North Cliff Beach .This is owned by Govt of Kerala .The collection of Aquarium fish are very good .You have to pay an entry fee. You can spend 20 -40 minutes depends upon your interest .There is 3D theater for Aquarium movie for about 20 Minutes .Good Garden is been developed by Govt here. Ample parking available here

Well maintained aquarium near vizhinjam. Visited the place today on the way to vizhinjam beach. There is an entry fee of Rs20, but today the entry was free. Don't know the reason for free entry. A lot of school kids were there to visit the place. Kids will definitely enjoy the different types of fishes. Overall a good place to visit.

A great place to spend time and to see some species of aquatic animals that you don't get to see everyday. There's also a park just behind the aquarium that you can sit in and have a hit cup of Chai whilst enjoying the beautiful sound of the ocean and the scenery.

The aquarium experience was somewhat underwhelming as it lacked a variety of impressive fishes. The collection seemed rather sober, featuring mostly common species. While the overall experience was okay, it didn't leave a memorable impression due to the limited diversity in aquatic life.
