Gorgeous mansion, beautiful well-appointed rooms, excellent service and communication. My only complaint is we had to leave. The breakfast was very nice. There were other amenities, like snacks and beverages, that were generously provided. If we are in Vicksburg we definitely will stay at Oak Hall.

Oak Hall Bed and Breakfast was such a wonderful home! Elizabeth was a great hostess. We had our book club meeting there tonight, and it was the perfect setting. The home is beautiful, and I loved all the period pieces and furniture. The house has a very cozy feel, and we enjoyed the newly renovated butler’s pantry. It was the perfect place to set up our snacks. I was amazed at all the colorful stained glass windows! The wooden staircase is impressive. I really liked the side porch, and could definitely see this as a fun place to hang out after dinner. I would definitely recommend this home to any of my friends or family. It’s in a great location to see the river and downtown (only a few blocks away).

We absolutely LOVED Oak Hall! The home was breathtaking beautiful, CLEAN, and the rooms were very spacious and comfortable. I absolutely love the decor, as you can tell the owners put a lot of work into preserving the historic structure of the home. The staff were very kind and accommodating. The grounds were manicured beautifully and the overall upkeep of such an old home is just impressive. I would definitely recommend renting Oak Hall for bridal shower, retirement parties, or retreats!

My family had the pleasure of staying in the Rustic Suite for the weekend. We all loved the place. The room was very clean and comfortable. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we checked in. Way better than staying in a hotel. We enjoyed seeing the decor of the entire place. We definitely would recommend staying here and we will again on our next Vicksburg trip.

We stayed here for a night during a road trip home, and it was such a respite and a welcome alternative to a chain hotel. We look forward to returning! Where to begin -- The house is gorgeous, with jaw-dropping original stained glass windows, light fixtures and other features. If you have any interest in architecture / home beauty, it is a rare treat to be there. The owners have done an amazing job of restoring its beauty and grandeur. Elizabeth's mother, Nancy, was there during our stay and was so friendly and helpful. Elizabeth kindly picked up our to-go dinner order for us, seeing how exhausted we were, and Nancy set the table. We ate off lovely old china and silver in a formal dining room -- what a treat! It was a memorable stay even before we got to our room. As other reviews have said, the mattresses are fantastic, and we were happy to have both a queen and a king bed in the 3rd floor bedroom -- perfect for our family of 4. This bedroom is a bit more rustic than the others, I think, but it was perfect for us and very large -- plenty of room in addition to the sofa and table, small fridge (with cold filtered water). The bathroom was delightful, with a large freestanding tub with shower and a large window overlooking many trees. The room alone was much larger and better than the kind of hotels that we usually stay at for the same price. For breakfast there were bagels, juice, yogurt, plus freshly cooked eggs and bacon -- again, a welcome alternative to the hotel breakfasts (which aren't anywhere as good as they used to be, much less what Oak Hall offers). We were the only guests during our mid-week stay, which was nice for us to have the house and the hosts to ourselves -- our daughter played the grand piano in the drawing room, which we took over as our personal lounge -- but Oak Hall deserves to be better known! While the neighborhood has clearly seen better days, it doesn't feel unsafe, and we can hope that Oak Hall is the start of a renaissance there ... and its location makes it very easy to get to from I-20, which was a plus for us. It is very near the river. There are good restaurants nearby, too. Our dinner was delicious and came from a place with rooftop views of the Mississippi -- next time we hope to eat there. The only downside I found is that if you enter through the side door, there is a strong musty smell; it's also present in some other of the public areas -- not our bedroom. I am highly allergic to mold and extremely sensitive to its smell when others (like the rest of my family) don't notice anything. I had no allergic reaction, though, and so I won't hesitate to return to Oak Hall. In fact, I'm looking for an excuse to return to Vicksburg soon. Oak Hall is a special find!

We stayed in an absolute treasure in Vicksburg! Oak Hall is a gorgeously restored, early 20th century home on a quiet street among so much history. The room we stayed in was large, airy and comfortable. The bathroom had toiletries, thick towels and ample room for two to get ready. The large bedroom contained a sofa, refrigerator, fan, AC and a huge king sized bed with soft linens. A nice surprise was the attached porch to relax and listen to the birds. The first floor public rooms have gorgeous wood and paneling with craftsman style fixtures and period comfortable furniture. A perfect place for a small wedding or reception! The breakfast was full of delicious choices and the owner, Elizabeth was a delight. We will definitely be returning!

Best place to stay in Vicksburg! Extremwly clean, quiet, huge, roomy...very spacious. Great decor with minimal clutter. Best towels, linens and the shades block out sun so you can sleep in. Our 4 stays have been perfect!

Oak Hall is a beautiful place and Elizabeth was wonderful and very accommodating. We rented out the entire house for a staff retreat. The common spaces were lovely and inspiring - a great place for our meetings. All of the bedrooms were luxurious. Everyone was happy - there was no "bad room." I can't recommend Oak Hall more strongly!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Oak Hall. The restored historic home is beautiful and very comfortable with modern amenities. The rustic suite was perfect for our family with room to spread out and relax. Breakfast in the morning was at our own pace, which we appreciated. It was a nice location for visiting downtown Vicksburg as well as the National Military Park.

We had a wonderful stay at Oak Hall. The house is on a nice quiet street. The bed was so comfortable with soft bedding and pillows. I enjoyed soaking in the claw foot tub, watching the rain on the balcony, and using the Keurig for morning coffee. The room was huge and it felt luxurious. Breakfast was good and we enjoyed meeting other guests. The only criticism I would say is that the room is so huge it’s a bit hard to see the TV well. I would return to Vicksburg just to stay here again.

Just an absolute fantastic one night here. It’s such a beautiful and amazing old mansion. Very well taken care or and maintained with care. We really loved the place. Thanks Elizabeth and Don!

Very intriguing stay compared to many of our past bed and breakfasts. To start, we didn’t expect to be the only guests as when I looked online, all bookings were unavailable. With that said, as much as we enjoy meeting people and talking, it was very unique to be able to stay in an old home, all to yourself to be explored. I gave the service only three stars for a couple of reasons. We went during thanksgiving, and were told they had let their staff off for the holidays, so we did not get to experience any meals, although there was a grab and go snack area with cold drinks as well which was nice and convenient. Fresh coffee would have been nice there in the mornings but there were at least well stocked coffee stations in the bedrooms that we ended up using. Also, Elizabeth was very friendly on the phone and in email, but we would have liked to have met the owners who were staying on site in a cottage, yet seemed to keep their distance during our stay. We often times love to ask the history of a home which adds to the experience. We relied on google for that part. The accommodations were excellent and the home has obviously been well taken care of by the new owners. Beds, furniture, linens, etc…was all In wonderful shape and had a perfect balance of modern touch while keeping the original character of the home. Neat part to add, not sure if the owners snuck in late one night to check on things, but as we said we were the only ones staying in the house our entire trip. About 1:30 am, we heard boards creaking outside the bedroom with people chatting. We got up and listened carefully for a few moments. Finally, I opened the door expecting to see some friendly faces only to find an empty sitting area. All in all, Vicksburg had an incredible history that can’t be fully experienced in three day. We will be back to learn more, and we will definitely stay at Oak Hall again in the future.

Warm, elegant atmosphere with rich beautiful restored oak trim throughout house and staircase. Stately large rooms with attached full baths, comfortable king bed, with some modern conveniences. Parking is limited in space and accessibility. The approach into the side entry driveway is hampered by two large concrete columns. Add in the narrow streets makes tight turns and maneuverability by 1 ton pickup challenging. Circle driveway is nice, but when someone parks there overnight, the flow is naturally interrupted.

Beautiful home to spend time in. Friendly interactions with guests and owners. Treetop room needs new mattress as middle is caving in. An added air conditioner as I hate humidity and a stronger or working fan in bathroom since bathroom window cannot be open. Some needed smaller amenities are box tissue, luggage rack, thicker bedding, soap in the form of solid bars, name brands that support the local community and heathy environment. Overall, it was relaxing and a pleasant stay.
