Last
week,
I
went
on
a
liveaboard
in
the
Seychelles
with
Explorer
1.
The
liveaboard
crew
(Christophe,
Julian
and
Halil)
were
very
profesional
and
clearly
have
been
working
together
for
a
long
time
to
make
this
the
best
experience
possible.
The
Explorer
1
is
a
made-for-purpose
catamaran
that
is
perfectly
suited
for
diving.
They
only
take
a
small
number
of
divers,
which
means
more
attention
to
detail
and
less
crowded
dive
sites.
The
itinerary
made
by
Christophe
made
sure
we
got
to
all
the
best
dive
sites
and
we
got
to
see
all
we
wanted.
We
must
have
been
very
lucky,
because
all
week
we
had
calm
seas,
good
weather
and
plenty
of
sea
life.
Whoever
said
that
sharks
are
a
rare
sighting,
clearly
has
not
been
diving
in
the
Seychelles,
as
we
saw
sharks
on
virtually
every
dive
(sometimes
dozens
of
them
on
the
same
dive).
The
crew
took
us
from
Mahe
to
Praslin,
then
all
the
way
to
the
North
Atol
Bird
Island
and
then
back
to
La
Dique,
hitting
many
dive
sites
on
the
way.
Apart
from
sharks,
we
encountered
a
total
of
six
(!)
whale
sharks.
One
of
them
kept
swimming
around
our
group
for
about
ten
minutes,
which
was
truly
a
wonderful
experience.
Furthermore,
we
spotted
a
manta
ray,
many
other
rays,
sea
turtles,
octopusses
and
much,
much
more.
In
between
dives
we
were
well
taken
care
of,
with
delicious
meals
containing
freshly
caught
fish,
nice
cabins
and
enough
space
to
relax
(in
and
out
of
the
sun).
Most
of
the
dives
were
deep
dives
and
sometimes
they
were
a
bit
challenging,
so
I
would
recommend
some
diving
experience
and
definately
an
advance
open
water
certification
(or
higher)
and
the
use
of
Nitrox
(available
on
board).
In
conclusion,
Explorer
1
really
delivered
on
the
perfect
liveaboard
experience.
The
Seychelles
have
beautiful
diving
options
and
this
seems
the
best
way
to
enjoy
them!
