Loved this little treasure near Victoria market. Traditional Creole food, quaint atmosphere, spacious restaurant, tortoise and fish… went there to try the traditional food with my family. We ordered the set that had chicken curry, tuna steak, grilled fish, sauces, salads and some fritters. We ordered an octopus curry additionally. The food was amazing. The restaurant was big and airy with a great view. Totally recommend.

A lovely restaurant a ten minute walk from Downton Victoria. We had the recommended creole menu for two, and it would have been plenty of food for three people. You get a taste of everything and the portions are generous. The service was great and staff very friendly. I was surprised to see the giant turtles in the small area in the back of the terrace. Initially, i thought it was great, then started having mixed feelings about it. Not sure it's right to keep such giant beats in such a small area. But overall, i definitely recommend the place.

Disgusting place. Fruits bats are caught cruelly and served here. Sad!!

Would never eat in a restaurant where bats are cooked. Aside from the issue of conservation, bats are wild mammals that carry diseases such as rabies. Disgusting that you offer them as food.

Authentic delicious creole food served with a local flair. Getting to this location is a bit tricky, lot of sharp turns and a steep driveway. Once you get settled in however, the delicious and large amount of food is apparent. For our group of 3, we ordered the signature board for two (similar to a buffet style) plus one extra entree. All the items were delicious. The mango salad was a highlight, super sweet and tangy. Chicken curry was a highlight as well. We also ordered the garlic prawns which were perfectly cooked, crispy, delicious, fresh and flavorful. Tons of fish and we were struggling to finish all the food that we ordered. Great place that accepts credit card as well.

As we stay at Hilltop Boutique Hotel which is next building to this restaurant we came to visit and try Creole food. What I can say? Delicious one! We took set of different dishes (chicken carry, fried fish, papaya chatni, rice, vegetable salad, mango salad and something else). Really nice wine per glasses. Yummy dessert made of sweet potato and banana. There was a private party outside so we had a chance to enjoy live music. Singer has magic voice 🔥👍 awesome experience. But most lovely thing is that they have turtles there! Huge Seychelles Turtles! I'm impressed ❤🙏

We went to this restaurant because it is right next to our hotel and we saw it had good vegan options. But we were a bit disappointed as the vegetable curry was too salty, the lentils as well and had too much garlic, the fresh juice was way too sweet. The salad was very nice.

The restaurant keeps giant tortoises in unacceptable conditions. A dirty, too small area for the big ones and a tiny cage for the newborns. Some of the giant tortoises have damaged shells. The staff let visitors touch them. The food is nice though but not worth it.

We wanted to try some creole cuisine and we took a dish recommended by the waiter. Was a good choice and it was enough for 2 persons. I recommend this place if you visit Victoria, it’s pretty close to downtown.

Nice little restaurant a short walk past the market up the hill. Rear seating area has the tortoises in and the front area has a great view over the harbour

STOP serving bats on your menu and tourists STOP supporting this restaurant and do not try the Bat dishes. The bats are dying a terrible cruel death. They are over exploited and it is no longer sustainable to hunt them. Please boycott and complain about the restaurants serving the bat dishes.

Having heard of this iconic restaurant, we visited it for lunch. The decor is unique with lot of accolades of the restaurants framed and displayed on the wall. Huge seating area- indoor and outdoor both. The bar area is huge with a few bar stools if someone wants to catch a drink. The waiting area is well designed with a few paintings displayed near the art gallery. For lunch, we were offered a set menu with very reasonable prices and a few dishes tasted good. Everything from the set menu comes at once though. Decent selection of wines and beers available. The place also serves traditional desserts, we tried caramalised banana.

Great place to get acquainted with creole food. You'll get to try a few types of food at one go, without needing to do it over many meals. The menu is fixed, so no decisions needed. We shared 1 portion between 2 persons and we were glad we did so. The portion was large enough. The house is beautiful, well maintained, and probably one of the few colonial houses around. The seating is spacious, so there's no need for reservations. There's no air-conditioning. There was also a seat booster for use if you have a baby/toddler. But there's only one, so first come first served. Overall, worth a visit!

This restaurant serves authentic Creole cuisine. I think it's a good thing to try the local delicacy, though it might not suit the tongue for everyone. But in general, I am good with the food, especially the curry and fish. They have a lot of Aldabra giant tortoises in the premise. Nice experience.

I would say, visit the place if your going to beau vallon or after victoria tour and going to beau vallon.. To start, i would recommend their “signature board” to try for everyone. Imho serving portion was a bit small if you need med-large portions. Idk if the “creole food” is authentic but id say the flavor is common if you’ve been to asian countries especially the curry. We got the chicken curry and as expected they are all “bone-in”. This is how they cook it “traditionally” so let it be.. the creole sauce was just tomatoes and onions nothing special. Again, definitely go for the “signature dish” all the way!

This place has a relaxing ambience, I love the spacious wooden setup plus the homey vibes of the mansion. Just like what others are saying, this is must-try if you want to experience traditional Creole food. Finally able to try the Octopus curry, oh and I love the side dishes especially the Mango Salad. Plus, you can also see and feed the giant tortoises at the backyard of the resto while you wait for your food. 🐢 Indeed, it is not just a resto, it is an experience! ❤️

Lovely hidden gem, if you are in Victoria and hungry, definitely stop here. Bit of a hike uphill from the city center but worth it. Go for the set menus and order the vanilla ice tea and enjoy! While waiting for the food you can feed and photograph the turtles.

very good food, went there with my father and ordered a plate for two, delicious and a lot of food! the price was fair (~50 EUR for this plate) the restaurant has 2 cats, who are very sweet, but it won’t be that sweet if a person allergic to cats comes in. fyi they do have in the backyard some turtles, I hope they enjoy those conditions, I am not a fan of seeing animals in “cages”, putted there just for entertainment. this is the only reason I gave the restaurant an overall 4 stars. the service, ambient, staff and food was very good.

We visited this gem of a restaurant last week Friday after returning from La Digue for the day. We wanted somewhere to eat locally and this was recommended by our wonderful car rental company (Doffay car rental ). We didn’t book but we appreciate the lovely Peggy for finding us a table despite them being super busy that day! Marie Antoinette is more than a restaurant - it’s a place that makes you feel like you’re at home! Not to mention the incredible food - everything is cooked to perfection (from the aubergine fritters to the incredible curries to the mango salad & takamaka wings which were just absolutely delicious)🤤 We would definitely recommend this restaurant if you want a taste of authentic creole food whilst in Seychelles!

  • 4/5 Michał B. 3 years ago on Google
Very good creole restaurant, went twice, first time was tremendously good, by the second time the portions seemed smaller and a bit less tasty (maybe a different cook was on the shift) but anyway a good restaurant worth a visit, prices also lower then on any beach located restaurant.

  • 5/5 M S. 3 years ago on Google
Fine creole cuisine at it's best! Popped in without reservation. The restaurant was quite intimate and comfortable but not fancy. Well, lots of giant turtles in the yard. Wine list adequate but not outstanding. No beer on tap, just bottles. The food however was definitely on the money. Every course was amazingly well cooked and delicious. Frankly a great signature appetizer boat, awesome tapas and sensationally cooked fish. All the deserts were to die for. Doesn't get a lot better. Well done. The staff were polite, professional and they made you feel very welcome. I recommend to visit!
