The location is very nice and is situated uphill. Approach road is steep. So it’s better to drive you car up to the front entrance ) but the place has a few car park slots. It also has a restaurant. While the place is good, the entrance ticket of SCR 175 per adult is very high

Very nice place to visit. The garden is huge and full of different plants for food or medicine. Everything is well marked and you can definitely see a lot of different flowers and fruits. Must see for everyone. I can also highly recommend the restaurant. The meal are delicious and the spicy tea is made with many different spices. It’s definitely something special. The owner is also verz friendly and welcoming. You can walk for about 1 to 2 h. If you are interested in botanic - bring more time.

Nice to spend a few hours, interresting to speak the lady who owns the place, the Fifth generation. A lot off medical plants and other fruits and herbs are in the garden with a paper description. The thing we didn't like were the big turtels in a small area. But she told us they belong for much generations to the property.

Very unique historical spot on the Mahé Island: a spice garden almost 150 years old still managed by the original family and helping the heritage of the island changes. The facilities shows how the Island Architecture changed and the garden is very well cared and absolutely interesting. We had lunch at the restaurant with Greta satisfaction: the creole kitchen offered is very fresh and good. Is also possible to start a couple of forest trails from the corners of the garden. Recommended spot.

Plenty of different plants, fruits, trees…, including tortoise. Amazing view of the bay. A directions to the place might be more clearly marked, because the garden is placed on the top of a very steep curvy hill. Our suggestion would be to include more spices/fruits/sth in the shop since the offer is pretty much limited.

If there is one place in Mahé you don't want to miss, it's Jardin Du Roi. Hiding on top of a very dodgy looking mountain road, climbing up you will wonder whether you are on the right road or not. Even getting on the parking plateau, you still won't be sure was the trip worth it. But wait. Once you start walking the paths up and down and around, you will understand what makes this place so special. Hundreds of treats and bushes and flowers, and giant tortoises and little anteaters and fruit bats, amazing views, and surely things you have never seen before. Simply amazing. Restaurant is not a fine dining place that's for sure and don't expect to stuff yourself as the portions are modest, but the food is delicious, and you will enjoy just chilling there with your drinks and something to keep your teeth busy. Take your time around the garden and enjoy

Such a wonderful place to go for tea and a quick bite of lunch (Takamaka rum and ice-cream crepe is a winner!). Take a little walk around the old plantation gardens and house. If about the lovely owner will happily tell you about the plantation and her family's history. Views are great on a good day but beware, the drive up the very steep narrow single lane road to the plantation can be an experience, especially in the driving rain!

Interesting place where you can see what fruits, spices and plants grow on the island. You get the map and sheet which says names of the plants & trees. Visited on Saturday, place was quiet. Entry was 175 rupees. Parking, restaurant and toilets on site. Visited in August 2023

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here with so many interesting and beautiful trees and plants to see. The trek round was through jungle areas so decent footwear is advised Plants and trees are numbered and you are given a sheet which tells you what they are. There are also several information boards. There are a couple of enclosures with the giant tortoises in and a cage with cute bunnies and guinea pigs in which I was told was for children to pet! We were given a very friendly greeting and welcome when we arrived and chatted to the current owner. Our visit here was most enjoyable and great value for money.

Fantastic tropical garden. Very similar to the Eden project in Cornwall UK, but in a natural environment rather then under a biome. Highly recommended but try to avoid mid day heat as there is a lot of walking up and down the garden

(Translated by Google) Nice private botanical garden with lots of exotic plants. Well maintained. Admission prices are okay. You can also get culinary dishes there. Unfortunately, the prices for food and drinks are adjusted to guests who are probably brought here from cruises. But thanks to Corona, these guests won't be here at least until the end of 2021, but prices are still quite high. However, the garden is highly recommended, the now rare Coco de Mer can also be found here. (Original) Netter privater botanischer Garten mit vielen exotischen Pflanzen. Sehr gepflegt.

Very nice gardens. Wonderful for family with children. Food is delicious. The lemongrass and lime tea is a must-try. The road that leads here seems as it may take you to the end of life and time. Bear on! It's worth it. Parking available at top. The museum House is also very nice.

Very nice garden with a wide variety of plants. You can also see some old land turtles. Entry is about 10 Euros. You can reach it by food also from the coast if you are willing to walk about 30-40 Minutes and about 250 height meters.

Interesting place ,I've never seen before a plant of cinnamon ,pineapple or vanilla. So If You have the same You can visit this Garden. However I admit that plants should be labeled better with some information when each tree starts to bloom. Cafe in the garden has interesting menu. Very good lemonade with coconut and crepe with banana.

(Translated by Google) First off, I will report on a great and authentic restaurant. The service is nice, the food is delicious! It is worth having a good lunch on the mountain with a wonderful panoramic view! The botanical garden is also very cozy, the guided trail can be easily walked through without the guide of the garden. In a well-maintained small area you will find plenty of plants. Plus hummingbird, fruit bat, aldabra turtle, etc ... (Original) Elsőként a remek, és autentikus étteremről számolnék be. A botanikus kert szintén nagyon hangulatos, vezetés nélkül, a kert kiadványával is jól bejárható a tanösvény. Jól karbantartott, kis területen rengeteg növény megtalálható. Plusz kolibir, gyümölcsdenevér, aldabra teknős, stb...

(Translated by Google) If you use Google Maps, the correct location of the garden is displayed but a path that does not lead to it. Unfortunately, the signage is quite inconspicuous and reserved. From Anse Royal drive west along Les Canelles Rd until you see the "SPR Shopping" store on the left. Directly at the shop you turn left onto Sweet Escott Rd and then immediately right again towards "Ixora Villa" and "Kokogrove Chalets". You drive through the street to the end - even if it gets a bit steep. It ends in the parking lot by the garden. The garden is very nicely laid out and well signposted (as soon as you have found your way on the map). Entry is fine with 125 SRC. If you walk the entire circular route and you are interested in the plants, you will be through in one to two hours. Two things were very important to us: sun protection and mosquito repellent. There is a restaurant and a small souvenir shop right in the garden. Unfortunately, there is not really much selection of spices to buy here. Nevertheless, it is definitely worth paying a visit to the garden.

This is a must visit if in the Seychelles. We stumbled across it looking for somewhere to have lunch. What a great surprise when came to this amazing garden with round a 100 different plants. You get given a map and guide to the plants as you walk round. It was fascinating to see all the different fruits and spices. They also have Coco de mer palms and giant tortoise. It is a long way up in the hills, so make sure you drive / get a lift

Two stars for the access road to the gardens. It is not easy to reach by own car. The driver in front of us got a flat tire on the way up. We decided to park the car before the last very steep uphill part, but there was only one spot available, which was taken... Seeing no other option but to leave the car one Km or so away and walk all the way up, we decided to leave as we had someone with reduced mobility in our company. Too bad.

One of the experiences that you should not miss when in Mahé. Reaching here by car is possible but it’s a steep climb. Definitely can be done by car. Not expensive. The manager and owner are super sweet people. You’ll get to see spices and fruits naturally growing on trees that you have been eating.

(Translated by Google) Great garden! If you are interested in the nature of the Seychelles, then it is Le Jardin Du Roi Spice Garden is definitely the first address. This wonderful and well-tended garden (landscape park) far exceeds the Mont Fleuri Botanical Gardens in Victoria. In addition to the many endemic plants, there are a variety of fruit and spice plants. Everything is well signposted and well explained using an overview map. The jungle path is particularly recommended. There are wonderful visual axes, enchanted paths and beautifully laid out ponds. In the restaurant you sit with a wonderful view of the landscape and are served very friendly. We will come over for dinner again. I hope it's as good as this facility. Two more things: 1. Getting there by car is quite adventurous, but shouldn't stop you from visiting. 2. The small souvenir shop is quite well sorted, but some are considerably overpriced. (A trip to the artist village "Village Artisanale" a few kilometers away is more worthwhile).

(Translated by Google) The restaurant is excellent, no need to pay entry to go there, with products that come from the site. But the bill is a bit expensive, 850 rupees for two, two dishes, two beers, two coffee. In addition, as indicated on other notices, turtles are hard to see in a slightly rotten and tiny enclosure. Located at the top of the coast. (Translated by Google) A superb garden, where tropical ornamental, food, medicinal plants, etc., grow in a heavenly setting. Do not forget the forest trail. The shop offers quality souvenirs at very reasonable prices. You have to ask yourself to taste fruit juices and eat: the flavors of the dishes are at the height of the place. Small clarification: the garden of spices wanted by Pierre Poivre in 1771 was not created in this place, but in Anse Royale, just below, not far from the beach and almost opposite the Souris island. Today it is private property. No guide in the garden, and for the price it should have been. It was very little information about the plants so we where only walking around looking at things we did not understand. Very hard to fint the way in the "garden routes". Animals did not have water and looked very lonely. I do not recommend this place before they do some changes. Hope they will start with a guide some day.

Nice personal experience here, where you can feel and see how the family used to live. There's a small house which is now converted to a museum. There are old furniture, photos, explanation of plants, amongst other things. The food is generally above average. It is on top of a hill, so naturally you have a nice view. The garden is impressive. Amazing how the family maintained this plot of land with the large variety of plants. Worth a visit to spend a slow evening looking at trees and plants. However, if not a nature lover, then maybe you can reconsider visiting.

(Translated by Google) Well kept garden, products and cuisine is very good but the whole is very expensive ... In addition, I find it very unfortunate the colonialist and haughty attitude of the owner, she felt in a hurry to see us disappear us and our 3 year old daughter. Fortunately, one of the staff was more friendly to us. In short, you can miss this visit, Mahé has treasures that are more worth spending time there.

(Translated by Google) The welcome was not very friendly, the car ride is rather rock'n'roll because impossible to access this place in seconds with air conditioning. The site is very beautiful and we discover a lot of different species, some of which are endemic. Nice view of the sea but beware we were bitten by very small but aggressive mosquitoes.

There was one big reason we came back to the Seychelles: the banana crepes at the Jardin du Roi restaurant. They are exquisite. Never has a crepe been made to such perfection, with a sauce that delicious. It’s a secret recipe from the owner of the restaurant, and one that no one could replicate. Outside of the restaurant, the Jardin du Roi has always been our favourite place in Seychelles; far outweighing even the beaches and the sea. It’s a magical garden of herbs and spices; flowers and fauna; trees, old and young, majestic and magnificent; a garden of secrets and pleasures. An old garden, with trees that tell stories of their seasons. Some ripe with fruits of every island variety; others with age-old roots intertwined like the fingers of old lovers. The Jardin Du Roi is the kind of garden we carry with us, long after we leave the Seychelles. Not unlike the mouthwatering banana crepes of Madame Georges. A gift to come back for. To add: despite the restaurant being closed for the National Day holiday, Madame Georges , upon hearing that the reason we were in the Seychelles, was my son’s birthday request for her banana crepe, managed to whip up two of her magical crepes for my kids. On the house. This is a lady who continues to imbibe the magical soul of her Jardin du Roi; it’s secrets and gifts flowing to all who seek its stories and pleasures.

👍👍 Amazing spot for lunch, quiet when we first walked in at 12.30pm but trusted the reviews and it soon filled up with mainly tourists but also locals. Standard menu but also a fresh daily menu, they own their own boat in the water across the road and catch the daily fresh catch. I had a massive well c...

👍👍 Very original place and menu. It's worth a visit even only to see the restaurant setting itself - it's carved in a huge granitic rock. You cook your own food on hot stones - you just can't make it wrong and it'll surely be very very tasty. The staff is helpful and curtious. Parking is free and readi...

👍👍 Nice place, in reality much more beautiful than on photos. There is super tasty coffee latte, the portion of curry was very big, we asked to put it in takeaway box to bring home. The service was good and you can pay by card there. Reasonable prices

😠 Really wouldn't bother with this place. Massively overpriced for what you get and manager is extremely rude. Would have rated as no stars if I could have done. There are plenty of other restaurants serving creole food - I'd go to one of them rather than here again.

👍👍 Takeaway by the beach offering plenty seats in a shade and enough parking spaces. I had an octopus curry, fish & chips and fish with rice, lentils & salad. All dishes were beautifully spiced and conveniently priced. I can highly recommend. I’ll definitely be back to try some more fish dishes.
