I suppose it's just not our thing really. The location is very pretty, the pool is so great and super for kids, nice manicured grounds. Lovely herb garden. Ducks etc. Breakfast comprehensive. Service friendly if a small bit inept. Couldn't comprehend a pot of hot water for tea throughout the three mornings we stayed. For some reason for two days dirty dishes from lovely cake we received, remained on top of a bin outside our room stairs. The Japanese meal was pretty good but a strange menu, in that you had to order six of the same item sushi, rather than a mix. No veg in our beef main and all as expected super expensive, I couldn't sit comfortably drinking a Seychelle bottle of beer, 1/2 pint, for €12, we have to get the kids through college! The kids entertainment was a very good resource. The resort is big and Americanised, I suppose we prefer a smaller place, and for less expense we had a top end experience in a boutique environment down the coast.. which suits us better. That said if you have the money and just want to veg out somewhere pretty but anonymous this could be for you.

The rooms are nice, and this is it. One of the worst hotels in means of service check in was terrible, pool service was super rude, the AC stopped working in our room, and these are just examples. We kept informing them but they don’t seem to really care, offering drinks for compensation and not real solutions. I’ve read your reply, not accurate at all. no early check in was provided, we arrived to your hotel at 9:00 after a night flight, very tired, asked for a room as early as possible, you promised to let us know but at 15:00 (official check in time) we came to check in ourselves, no one contacted us, and only by that received a room (which was still wet as we entered right when the cleaning person left) Please be assured I didn’t elaborate more regarding all the rest bad service such as pool team lying (!!!) they have no towels! And sending us to seek for them ourselves! When we are the only one at the pool and they do nothing! Not mentioning all other things… offering us a room while for hours you don’t seem to manage fixing the AC is the least you can do and it was basic. This was our honeymoon and if I needed to have it again it was definitely not at you place. Thanks for the free one-time drinks for guests paying more then 1000 USD for extras we had 🙄

Staying here currently. Firstly the pool area is nice and the food has been good. Gym is also good. In-line with what other reviewers are saying however, service is among some of the worst I’ve ever received, especially in a 5* hotel. The waiters bar a few look like they hate their jobs. We ordered lunch at the pool cafe and they completely forgot about it, we then ordered at the reception bar and it took over 2 HOURS to arrive. We had to leave, so as soon as they brought it out we basically had to leave. Another note to add is that whilst we are full board, not a single drink is included, NOT EVEN WATER. I find this very weird. We paid £28 for 1 beer and 1 cocktail in one of their restaurants which is absolutely ludicrous and will just bring our own drinks to dinner from now on. Wouldn’t stay again, better to stay at Hilton or Four Seasons. Story is a 4* hotel, not 5*.

Amazing location by the beach. Beautiful scenery around the hotel with lots of wildlife. The receptionists and the porters are very friendly. Serving staff not so much. Generally slow service in the bars. Stay away from their Eden restaurant. Spa and trader Vic is great. Beverages are very expensive here. No privacy in the bedroom as there is only a half wall into the toilet room (who decided that was a good idea?)... The rooms are of good size with a comfortable bed. Would I come back? Most likely not. The location does not offset the downsides.

Thank you Story for a truly fabulous time. We had our wedding at Story on the beach it was absolutely beautiful, thank you to everyone who made our day perfect. The hotel is fantastic, the restaurant, the pool everything you need for a dream wedding and holiday. All of the staff were very keen to help always happy and smiling and nothing was ever to much trouble. We would highly recommend Story as a perfect getaway. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and the rooms are stunning. Location is excellent with incredible sunsets. The service was very poor. None of the employees smile and it seems like they are unhappy with their jobs. We arrived at 11pm at night and ordered room service that was still being prepared an hour and half later. We had to cancel as we were falling asleep sitting up. A free lunch was offered for this but we refused it. The breakfast buffet was of very poor quality. Omelette served undercooked, coffee was terrible and some items are on the buffet and some on request from the chef. The waitress seemed annoyed that she had to explain because we didn’t understand and know what we had to order and what we had to collect ourselves. Silly concept for a 5 star hotel. We ate there on 2 of the 5 days stay. Arrived from a long day out and had no towels to shower. The morning housekeeping didn’t replace our towels. Apparently there is a turndown service also of one we never experienced. The pool is serverely understaffed and unfriendly except for the main person who is behind the bar. He really runs a lot and tries his best. Towels are limiter or they run out. If the service was just good, not excellent, just good, then the resort is 5 star.

I was there with a friend in June and we had a great time. The hotel is small (compare to those resorts in the Caribbean) so it's not crowded. The staff is really nice. For future visitors, I suggest you too try out the different restaurants, the dinner buffet is not the best. Also, try the activities organized at the pool, snorkeling, kayaking.. they are for all levels

We stayed for 3 days. The resort has very unique architecture and very nice restaurants within the resort. Please note that buffet dinner at the hotel is more expensive than at the restaurants within the resort however dinner at the restaurants is much better (requires pre-booking though)

As expected, it was a really nice resort with great staff. I liked that they organized different activities each day, all/most included. The hotel was not too busy in September.

I came to Story with my husband for our honeymoon and we had an unforgettable experience. The staff are so lovely, friendly and helpful. We were treated so well and can’t wait to come back. The resort felt quiet and secluded although there are buzzing businesses and little markets just a few meters away if you take a walk. There’s beautiful lush gardens and a lake to enjoy staring at as soon as you step out of your room. The spa is also so luxurious, my scrub and massage were so relaxing. This resort is also very family friendly, lots of fun activities for the kids! We hope to come back very soon ❤️

Beach Villa with pool is a MUST! Very very nice , quiet and relaxing here… Beautiful beach 🏝️ without corals or stones ( really clean ), good food , and great service ! And yeah : I had the best spare ribs in my life ! ( don’t miss the opportunity to visit a traditional restaurant )

The hotel staff is amazing! I felt like I was amongst family. Very kind and very sweet. I had an emergency while I was there and they took care of me like I was one of them. Just don't expect 5* service. I asked for a wake up call, no one called. I asked for a taxi to the airport it was never booked. You will need to follow up a few times on some things. But the facilities, the rooms and the restaurants were all amazing. I had dinner at trader vicks one night. And dinner at vascos on another night it was a Creole night with creole food and music and dancing it was fantastic.

!DEFINITELY NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL! During my day one at this hotel there’s been a heavy rain and electricity went off for a few hours starting from around 21.30. I was having a conference call at that time, when contacted reception over WhatsApp they first told me they have no idea when the electricity will be on again and they’ll give me an update shortly. An hour into load shedding nobody has contacted me and simply ignored my message when I’ve decided to double-check. I ended up waiting for 2 hours in complete darkness because I’ve had a work project to finish that day. Then gave up and went to sleep. Electricity was on when I woke up (by approx. 9 am). And of course no messages whatsoever from the reception staff. In short, I do understand heavy rain and weather conditions making power go off. What I don’t understand is: 1. Why doesn’t a so-called “5 start hotel” have a generator? My grandmothers house has one I mean so why can’t they buy one 2. Absolute failure to provide any sort of information by hotel’s staff. They could’ve at least said “sorry, today it’s going to be off, there’s nothing that can be done” so that I wouldn’t expect for the power to go on and didn’t have to sit and wait in darkness. It’s currently day 2 of the stay, for now it’s 3-4 star hotel at best. Just keep in mind before visiting. Not giving it a 1 star because that won’t be fair obv.

Lovely hotel, terrible service!! My husband and I just got back from spending our honeymoon here. When checking in, we mentioned we were celebrating our honeymoon and were asked for proof and told that there were other rooms available for an upgrade but we'd have to check with reception in the morning (we arrived at 10pm). The room itself was lovely, although smelt like damp from humidity. The next morning we went to reception to ask about any complimentary room upgrades and although there were rooms available we were told it would cost €2000! Oh well - least we asked. Breakfast buffet is OK- but it's like eating in an aviary- birds flying everywhere and on tables etc. We had upgraded to all inclusive and so drinks and food round the pool were included. Food and drinks were good - when you actually got served. The first 2 days by the pool we waited over an hour for food and the second day our food order was completely forgotten about when asking an hour later! There was one bar man which meant waiting ages for a drink - even a bottle of water. Even when you're all inclusive you have to sign for everything you get which makes no sense! The staff seem unhappy, miserable and some were even rude. We got no apologies for the long waits etc. Brian was the only staff member who went out of his way to help. After day 1 round the pool we returned to our room to find the mini bar empty (even though we were all inclusive it should've been full). We also only had 1 towel given to us by housekeeping. Upon phoning reception to inform them we got no apologies and waited ages for another towel and the bar to be stocked. We also received a WhatsApp message from the hotel asking for proof of our wedding so that we could receive the honeymoon package. We did so wondering what the honeymoon package would be and thought that's a nice touch. Turns out they wanted all that just to give us a small chocolate cake that said congratulations. It was pathetic. When leaving, our flight was an 8pm flight, we asked if we could have a late checkout and were informed it would cost €250. We've never paid for a late checkout at a hotel and definitely didn't want to after such bad service. We were told we could store our bags in the luggage room and use the gym showers to shower. When we checked out nobody helped us with our bags, we had to walk our suitcases all the way to the entrance. Checkout service was appalling, we wasn't asked how our stay was so we couldn't give our feedback. They tried to charge us for breakfast and other things even though we were all inclusive. Again, we had no apology for this. The gym showrtd stunk of fish, were filthy and there was no aircon. Overall, the actual hotel is nice, rooms are nice and pool is nice. Service was just shocking and unfortunately it's a hotel that only seems to care about taking as much money as they can from you. We were looking at staying at the Hilton and we regret not as you know you're going to get a great service there.

Very relaxing resort with amazing staff. Must experience the spa (Sigu is amazing) along with pool or snorkeling activities. Ira and Maven were so amazing for my first time experience to make me feel comfortable and at ease make sure my snorkeling adventure was top tier.

Excellent hotel design, great location and eco friendly. Staff helpful and friendly. Avail of the inclusive activities - - snorkelling tours was excellent (do wear a rashie for sun protection) - Scuba introduction gets you setup to go diving! Kid related things to consider - - so many options for food and drink in buffet - movie night was a hit, with pop corn - there is a supermarket across the road for milk and nappies etc - baby pool is shielded from the sun, it’s a bit hidden so ask if you can not find it - kids are listed activities daily so check that out for entertaining them Thanks story we will be back!

Great place, rooms are excellent , best beach on the island, but the service blows. Plan on growing a beard waiting for anything. 45 mins for drink at the pool bar, 20 mins for coffee at the breakfast buffet and 20 mins for check.

Overall the place is great, we had amazing time in the Hotel as it was our honey moon and we were there to make the most of our trip. Negative : for the price of a Full Board experience you still have to pay very expensive drinks during all your stay...a bit disappointing ! Main take away : the hotel is very nice, employee very friendly and accommodating and we enjoyed entirely our stay even with special attentions for our HoneyMoon...I just feel that compared to the price we paid this is very expensive and would have expected a bit more...

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff on stunning part of the beach. Beach is walkable, fairly clean. Excellent swimming. Alluring grounds, well maintained. Hotel offers rooms over two stories or private villas with own mini pools, exquisite!  Private Villa rooms are large, nice and tidy, king bed, large washroom, back patio, ocean view overlooking large front patio with pool, 4 loungers and pergola. Restaurants: 4 a la cartes and 1 buffet.  Evening buffet was mediocre, buffet breakfast was good, lots to choose from. Excellent lunches by pool. Definitely return.

Great service and beautiful grounds, rooms were fantastic and housekeeping did an awesome job. Breakfast was great too. It is unfortunate that they have fallen into a trap of resort pricing. A beer in the bar costs close to 20$, a ridiculous price for a beer, a cappucino 15$ etc... this lead to us not buying a single drink at the hotel, which is unfortunate both for us and the hotel. 2 minutes from the hotel you can find beers for 3$, so clearly it is possible to push the prices a bit.

5 stars not commensurate with the room (junior suite) or the service of the reception. When we checked in we were shown to our room by a member of staff. There was no briefing from the room and the air dryer that was in the room. As it turned out later in the evening, this was no longer functional. After calling reception at just before midnight, unfortunately no help came. The room (bed, couch, etc.), as well as our luggage smelled clammy and was damp. This seems to be a general problem in the buildings, as mould could be found in various different places. The food, on the other hand, is excellent and the service there impeccable. Pool, beach, facilities, etc. are all 5 stars. Except for that night, there is nothing to complain about in any way. Best regards, Sebastian

Perfect experience. Very spacious and well decorated rooms (pool and beach view). Located in a beautiful beach with warm and calm water. Internet is slow, but this is common in Mahe. Great dining, but overpriced as everything here.

We picked Story hotel for our wedding ceremony and stayed there in July with our friends and family. It was best decision we could ever make. The hotel is truly amazing. It has big territory and various outlets, so you don't get bored. I personally loved hotel rooms as they are very atmospheric. The only thing which worth taking into consideration is that some rooms (not all of them) have open bathroom without the door and there is no much privacy if you want to go to the shower, bath or the toilet even if you are staying as a couple. But honestly that's very minor thing and not worth stressing out. Speaking of staff: big shout out to Vicky (sales coordinator) who took care of our wedding ceremony from A to Z and handled all our requests with care. She did a great job! Also I'd like to thank chefs: in Trader Vic's and Seyshima for remarkable dining experience and their cooperation when we had our special requests. Thanks to Dipak (F&B manager) as well for being very attentive. Our overall experience was 10 out of 10. Highly recommend this place and hope to come back there one day!

Our STORY of STORY Seyshells We chose this hotel as it faced Beau Vallon beach, one of, if not the best beach on Mahe The hotel consists of 7 blocks of 2-storey rooms in a semi circle and several beach facing rooms. On arrival we were met by Kamlesh, one of the concierge team with a very welcoming smile. Kamlesh was all but insistent of taking our cases from us and directing us towards reception. The walk is some 100 meters along a ‘runway’ with stairs down to reception [there is a lift]. We were met by the smiling Neige who offered us a seat in the lounge area and came over to complete her check in paperwork, asking us many questions about what we wanted from our room. This was at 9:30am and officially check-in is not until 3pm. We were offered complimentary breakfast which was more than acceptable, will return to the subject of the restaurant later. We went to retrieve something from our bags to be met again by Kamlesh, this was 10:30. Kamlesh told us our room was ready and loaded us and our baggage into a golf cart and took us to our room. The Room: Room 93 The room was spacious and well appointed. We had a very comfortable king size bed [this could also be made up as a twin] The room had a balcony with a large sofa, 2 chairs and a table. In the room there was a fridge, safe [free] hairdryer, dressing gowns and slippers. The bathroom had a large deep double ended bath, walk in shower room, separate W.C. and ‘His N Hers’ wash hand basins. Complete with a selection of toiletries The air conditioning was effective and quiet The staff all seemed genuinely happy to see you and everyone said ‘good morning’ to you We stayed half board. The restaurant was well designed and laid our with beach / Sea views. Buffet style, The food was plentiful and good quality. Certain things at breakfast were cooked to order. Our only minor criticism was the tea / coffee took too long to arrive It was our wedding anniversary while we were there and we had dinner on the beach, a very special moment. The chef sat down with us the day before and went through the substantial ‘Tete-A-Tete’ menu with us. During the meal the restaurant manager and executive chef came to introduce themselves The hotel left us champagne in our room on our anniversary, which was a nice surprise On the day before we left Kamlesh left us a couple of Coconuts in our room, which he didn’t have to do, so this had such heart felt meaning to us In all a most wonderful stay, we would recommend STORY to anyone, and hope to return again somewhen soon.

One of the reasons we booked Story for our honeymoon was the honeymoon package which was advertised on their website. There is nowhere on their website to select the honeymoon package when booking. I therefore emailed the hotel that we were on our honeymoon in advance of arrival. I then advised again that we we were on our honeymoon upon checking in. I was then left red faced and embarrassed in front of my new wife when, upon checking out, I was told that "the system" did not have the honeymoon package selected and I would have to pay full price for all the items listed as complimentary in the honeymoon package. Very disappointing.

We had an early departure but we had the chance to take a shower even if they made sure that our room check in was also very early. The room was quite big, humidity is a problem of the area but they with airco and dehumidifiers 24/7 is bearable. Everyone is very friendly. Breakfast was ok but as most of the meals in the area tasteless. We had a dinner in the traders restaurant, very expensive for what you get for food. Cocktails are better. Pool is nice and snorkeling fun.

Great location and friendly staff! We enjoyed the rooms and easy access to the beach. Breakfast and lunch were great, but dinners were disappointing. With so many restaurants on site, you would expect them to outdo all the local restaurants but sadly no. We would stay again since there are numerous activities to do (snorkeling, kayaking, tennis) that are included, but after 3 disappointing dinners we found the offsite restaurants to be much better, and the nighttime walk along the beach is a great end to the night. Despite the onsite dinner issues, STORY is a great resort to lounge by the pool, enjoy a great spa, or sit by the bar and people watch. While you may be far from Victoria, you are within a pleasant pleasant walk along the beach to other dinner options.

Our stay was cool. From the pool to the beach beach to the serene environment all top notch. Neige and Kamlesh were awesome and made us feel at home . The only down side is, all the meals were English and at least they should add some african dishes (bit more spicy) to the buffets. Thanks👍

I was there at christmas eve for dinner. Paid 150$ for a buffé that I would usual pay 20$. If they gone charge so much for a buffé then it should me damn good!

Great location, clean rooms and beautiful beach and pool. The service unfortunately can be turned into a bit of a nightmare. Lunch took us 2 hours and 15 minutes to be completed with only 4/6 main dishes to be served in some cases. We wouldn't mind if it was only a one time thing but in EVERY time we decided to eat at the pool where lunch was served we wept of regret. More than often a smile from the servers would be a rarity except the servers Fara and Yumi which were frankly the best. In general a heads up, things are done in a different pace than usual. The food was excellent throughout the hotel but the desserts not that great.

It is just perfect. Cannot find a single thing out of it’s place. Amazing architecture, garden, beach, pool. Clean and tidy. The only minus is that there is not much to do outside the hotel. But not their fault.
