Honestly the worst bowl of laksa I've had in Melbourne. Their quality and standards have severely dropped. The old boss man and experience staff moved to their glen waverley branch so mostly young amateurs preparing food here. Food arrives super quick on the table but it's rather bland broth, overcooked dry ingredients and just diluted overall. I've never had similar disappointments with the neighbouring shop, so I'm unlikely to return.

I dined here back when they opened and can only say it’s even better now. Perfectly balanced spices in the curry laksa. Nice little touches and hearty portions to fill and warm even the hungriest. Friendly staff. Quick and easy. Thanks for looking after us.

Food was good as usual however, perhaps due to covid, service was not great this time around. We had two glasses of Teh Tarik dropped on us with a glass shattering on the floor without so much as an apology. Then our hainanese chicken rice arrived without the rice and we were told that the kitchen organised the orders and we would just have to wait... Wait we did until ten minutes later we asked another staff member who got our replacement bowl of rice as it had been sent out with a different order. Food good, service not so much!

I don’t think I have to say anything. The reviews speak for themselves!! This was an efficient vibrant busy Tasty pleasant experience. The staff were 1000% helpful and friendly. The ordering process was not clear to me at first but after a while I saw how it worked and ordered in store but online. Very efficient. The food was first clean and really nice. I will be going back to sample as many items as I can. Overall a great experience and highly recommended

When most people think of Flemington, they mention the racecourse or Laksa King. And there's a good reason why. Laksa King is simply amazing. Great variety of delicious Malaysian food and drinks at reasonable prices and big serves. Service is fast and friendly. Try their famous laksas which are perfect for cold winter days.

Laksa was really good, however, I kept finding white 'fur' of some sort, looked like pet fur. Then shortly after found a black 'fur'. This put us off and stopped eating the laksa. However the fried rice and everything else was amazing. I don't make a big deal on things like this, but just a note to kitchen and management. I didn't let this affect my review.

Really tasty Laksa. Some of the best around I'd say. Gets busy real fast on a Saturday, so rock up bang on 5pm to get a table

There's a reason this place is always so busy, the food is really excellent and the price is amazing! We had a couple of starters and huge mains plus drinks for around $50. Staff are so efficient and really friendly! And look, honestly as a Brit living in Australia, if I can get prawn crackers in a restaurant, it's a big tick from me! Big yum!

My work colleague Jack has rated you highly, so I was keen to try this place out. I opted for takeaway as my colleague was on his way into work. The Laksa Chicken curry was the recommended order, along with an added serve of rice. Certainly enough food for two meals, but I did it in one. The takeaway concept was add your sauce to the dish. The noodles and chicken along with curry sauce were all a pleasant delight. Good tasty food for a good price. Order can be done via app and customer service is good, I am told.

Beautifully done laksa’s and a good variety of Malaysian food that you can choose from. The place is always full, we went for a weekend for dinner and were able to get a table pretty quickly than compared to our previous experiences. The laksas are delicious. The nasi lemak and the nasi goreng options are good as well. We have tried a almost all of the laksa options and vegetarian and chicken curry have been the best liked for us. We like the nasi goreng as well, do not forget to request sambal to go along with this. Not a big fan of the drinks menu

Came here and not have laksa is probably not the brightest idea. We ordered satay and I tasted good but it looks fried and chewy. The sauce is not the proper peanut sauce. I ordered the crispy noodle, good portion and taste good. Wished they added more sauce. Was a little dry. Overall I’d come back again for the laksa. Service was okay. Wished they were attentive because it’s a big place and often gets really busy. 7/10.

Still the best Malaysian restaurant you can try in Melbourne, especially on the west side. Their laksa always the highlight. The roast duck truffle oil fried rice is another dish. The waat dann horr also got to try. Cooked to perfection in terms of taste and texture felt like back to Malaysia.

Been here ten years ago and five years ago. Finally back around the area. Service is fantastic and attentive. Weekend surcharge is a bit of a deterrent these days. Atmosphere is relaxing and the restraint is up to standard with cleanliness. Now for the food review. Renown for its laksa and deservedly so, the aptly name laksa king lives up to its name with the aromatic broth and the hint of chilli on the top of your tongue as you slurp the warm milky white broth. Two big prawns along with a piece of eggplant and a mix match of thick yellow noodles and thin vermicelli white noodles. Thinly sliced fish cakes are scattered with one of two pieces of mussels and scallops. Overall the dish was fantastic and better than petaling street franchises but it’s portion is a tad too small for an average eater. The salty fried rice with chicken and eggs sprinkled with thinly sliced lettuce and spring onions had the wok heat but lacked what I prefer in my salty fish fried rice (I’d still go to grand tofu in glen Waverley over this dish). Portion again a tad on the ‘I want to lose weight’ side. Same can be said for the cha kweoy teo ( however you want to spell it) wok smell present but lacking body and substance that defines its originality. Overall, two sea food laksa and one fried rice and one fired noodles with no drinks cost $80+. Parking is ample if you drive further up along the railway line and side streets. Very narrow roads around here.

This place never disappoints. It has to be one of the best Malaysian food in Melbourne and the best Laksa which has so much flavour and depth. The Laksa King Entree is a great starter to be shared with another. Combination Laksa is what I always order and always taste the same every time. Can’t wait to go again when I’m in the area. Added more photos to show how good this place is.

Wonderful food, as always - although last time I dined here it was in 2003 in the old arcade shop. Roti Chanai was amazing with beef and Char Kuay Teow superb. Vietnamese ice coffee topped it off. Super impressed with service from female staff that were attentive, helpful and cheerful with one issue was rectified immediately without fuss. However, strangely, every male floor staff seemed disinterested, glum and apathetic. So strange. Will be back sooner that 20 years next time.

Disappointing. Have been a customer for over 20 years - back to the days in the arcade. This business has made a mint for its owners but they seem reluctant to spend money on making it a pleasant dining experience. The place needs a good clean. Filthy air vents, fans, windows, sky lights and the walls look grubby. The toilets are a disgrace too. And the stupid ordering system using the ap is frustrating. What is wrong with table service? On a positive note the food remains good and the staff are friendly.

Good Food, Horrible service. Came here for dinner one night as I heard many good things about this place. I got here right on opening, and it was instantly packed. Very popular place for dinner. The chicken laska had some great flavours and great portion of chicken. The whole menu looked amazing. The negatives.... I was rushed to leave the whole time. I was first asked If I was having a quick meal, then you look up and theres a sign saying a maximum of 1 hour for each table. Hell. And I never received the rice which I ordered. So after 15 minutes of scoffing off my meal I left. Keen to return only to try more items on menu

The chicken curry laksa was very tasty, with a delicious broth. The assam laksa was a lot fishier than I expected (and remembered). The roti was fluffy and tasty, with a very generous side of satay sauce, and the mini pork spring rolls also very good. The sago pudding was a little too firm and sweet for my liking. Overall, still a great place to go if you're craving some laksa!

Place to be in Melbourne for tasty, mouthwatering Laksa! We’ve been coming here for years but due to Covid and kind of living faraway, it really took us a while to come back here. I’m happy that the flavour of their laksa is still consistent. We always get the roasted duck laksa with extra eggplant and this time we tried the beef laksa which was really good as well! The serving of their laksa is quite big so 3 of us shared 2 servings but then again, if you’re a big eater 1 bowl of it will definitely make you satisfied!! 10 out of 10 Goodness!!!! 🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜

Still the best laksa in town. The problem is that they know it. Service is slipping - barely trying with their curtness. Their toilet is disgusting (graffiti and smells). Come for the food. Don't tolerate the superior attitude.

Ordered combination laksa & fish fillet noodle soup for lunch. Self services to place order. Expected time is much faster than our last visit about 6 months ago same time. Good quality of Malaysian food if you craving for a bowl of hot soup. Fish fillet soup is great just like I tasted it another Malaysian shop called chef Lagenda. Wondering if the chef been working here too ? U will not be disappointed on their generous portion of food.

It was a 20 minute wait for a table on a Saturday night around 6pm. The food came out quickly, the service was friendly, and the menu had something for everyone. The laksa bowls are massive, but thankfully they let you take away any left overs you may have. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience

Not sure I can agree with the other reviews advising the quality has gone downhill. I honestly think it’s been consistent for the last decade noting I will only order what they’re known for, the laksa. Under $17 with a generous serving. It’s also not fair to try and compare restaurants like this to getting the same product from the country of origin. We’re in Melbourne people! A melting pot of different cultures with quality food but it’s pointless saying the laksa is better in Malaysia.

Finally visiting the most popular laksa place in Melbourne. Ordered a combination laksa. Very good. Prawns, chicken, fried tofu, fish cakes and veggies. I chose thick and thin noodles, but you can choose your type of noodles. After opening 30mins, it was almost fully packed. I’m pretty sure it would be busy during lunch time.

We had a wonderful lunch here. The fish head curry was so savoury and delicious. The Nasi Lemak was not really authentic Nasi Lemak and it is more of a chicken curry rice. Nonetheless, it was still very delicious. The special fried rice was good as well. Recommended!

One of the yummiest bowls of laksa I’ve ever had. The portion was huge and they were generous with the duck. The roti with peanut sauce and the spring rolls were amazing. Service was fast and the servers were friendly. Convinrent QR Code ordering system.

Found this gem of a place through a Google search and I understand why this place has such high ratings 😍 best laksa I’ve had in ages, highly recommend trying the fried fish one. Their teh tarik with grass jelly is amazing too.

It's been a few years since my last visit to Laksa King in Flemington, so I was really looking forward to this meal. Sadly, the first thing that caught my eye was a 10% surcharge on a Sunday. It's not uncommon these days, but still, it's a bit of a downer. Undeterred, I ordered the Assam Laksa and my partner opted for the combination curry. Just as I remembered, the Assam Laksa was top-notch and it's now my partner's favorite dish here. That being said, I did find the noodles a bit too soft for my liking. They seemed overcooked, and I reckon they could've done with a minute or so less in the boiling water. The combination curry was a mixed bag for me. I found the vermicelli noodles in the dish a bit too hard, though my partner thought they tasted just fine. He also noted that they were quite generous with the meat, so that's a plus. On the bright side, the pricing hasn't changed much since my last visit a few years back, so it's still competitive. That's a relief given the trend of prices shooting up at a lot of other places. Despite the few niggles with the noodles, I'd still give Laksa King a thumbs up. It's a great spot for a warm noodle dish, especially as we gear up for winter. So, if you're in the mood for some comfort food, give it a go.

The best and you can tell. The restaurant is generally always full and has me leaving full. Great laksa flavour and fast service too!

  • 5/5 Al S. 2 years ago on Google
Yummmm laksa sooo good! The curry chicken with roti is also good. If dining in, there's a limit of 1 hr so you pretty much eat and go! Service is quick and the place is pretty noisy as it's always packed, so not really a place you can sit and chit chat for hours.

The food is nice. But, the waiting time is always more than 30 mins. The wonton is yummy. The same as the one in my hometown. The hot and sour soup is nice as well. They don't have kang kung in garlic sauce in the menu. But, they can make it to your order.

Laksa King is a treasure, since the first time I ate I loved it, can't help it. This is just my favourite place. My mom loves it, my baby loves it, every dishes it's just the best.

Had Ipoh Flat noodle with eggs sauce(Wan Tan Hor), Fish Fillets Bihun soup and Ice Kacang. Visited on every visit from Sydney and always happy and satisfied. So much better than Sydney Malaysian food. Slight let down with service this time with the pickled green chillies, an essential accompaniment for Wan Tan Hor. First request it came with 6 slices pickled green chillies and 2nd request came with 4 slices. Overall service was good and friendly.

Good: Best Malaysian restaurant in Melbourne, maybe Australia Best laksa, best har meen (prawn noodle soup) in Australia Excellent way tan hor (rice stick noodles in eggy sauce) with wok hei (smokiness) ENORMOUS serving sizes for every dish! Very dangerous for ladies watching their waistlines. Super duper cheap! Only $15.90 for signature dishes and many other dishes. Very, very patient waiting staff (you have to be with such awful demanding Malaysian customers) Bad: Shockingly bad chendol!!! I suspect Ais kacang is just as bad if the shaved ice is as bad as the chendol. Fully packed every day, lunch and dinner despite large restaurant and many tables

Though we waited for a good while (40 mins?) on a freezing Friday night, the Fish Head Curry Laksa we had was super delicious, so it was worth the wait! Strongly recommend! However, the Singaporean Stir Fry Noodles was a bit too flavourful, with too much spice and salt...I guess this is not their specialty! But all in all still a good dining experience! Would be back for their Laksa dishes! ❤️

  • 5/5 Rigoniman 1 year ago on Google
Great Laksa - very tasty! We have been coming here on and of for a while now. It’s not that close to work or home so we need to back a trip, but it’s always worth it!!! The House Laksa is a must try, but to be honest so is everything on the menu! These a good range of laksas and assorted other taste sensations. You’re welcomed with a large blackboard menu as you enter but there’s also a print table version of you can order (and pay) via the QR code on you table. Definitely worth a shot!!!

First visit in about a year to this popular restaurant. Normally busy for dinner, but the queue moves pretty quickly. The food came out within 10 minutes of ordering and was hot and delicious. The only thing that I noticed were the surcharges for public holidays (common practise) and also for Sundays? It might put off customers from visiting on these days.

  • 5/5 N 7 months ago on Google
Visit the place on a midweek night, had a waiting time of about 20 minutes for a table for 2. Curry laksa portion was quite huge, fortunately they provide containers to take away any leftovers. Staff were friendly, food was amazing, would definitely visit again.

Visited at 5pm on Tuesday evening. Carpark spots were near full on street. A few groups were already ahead of us. ☆5 Tasty food as usual for decades and always steady quality of taste. Orders came very fast. I've never tried other stores but this one is always busy. Never get disappointed👍

  • 5/5 Billy F. 1 year ago on Google
Must try! Would recommend trying the roti with satay sauce. The satay sauce is great and definitely a highlight. Both bowls of Laksa were great, I preferred the beef over the duck but I enjoyed both. Highly recommend!
