One of our favourite neighbourhood restaurants. We came for a banquet on Valentine's Day, and it was very affordable compared to most other places that had special menus. We were satisfied but not overfull, which is often the case with Mediterranean banquets. Look for discounts through Liven and EatClub (etc.) - they can be significant.

We had a great experience at Marmara. We chose the feed me style sets. There was plenty of food and we all left with full bellies.

So happy we found this place! After a Google review for Middle Eastern food we came across Marmara Turkish restaurant and decided to give it a try due to the high rating and are we glad we did. It was a Monday night so thought it'd be easy getting a table but we actually got the last table - it was packed! The interior is super cosy and beautiful, the service was outstanding and the food was delicious. What's not to love! The vegie / spinach and ricotta pides were a hit with our table and the mixed dips super yum too. Can't wait to go back!

Let's say, I'm heading back again, and again and again. Highly recommend you try the Haloumi Salad (pics enclosed)...absolutely delicious!!! The mixed grill was perfection with a big appreciation on the lamp chop❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Great service, cosy and you leave feeling like family.

An amazing find! We had booked tickets for the Astor movie theatre, and were seeking a great place to eat. We happened across Marmara, and were delighted! The staff were so friendly, and treated us like long lost friends. I had a Turkish coffee Margherita which was beautifully presented. Speaking of presentation; the ambiance was that of a secret, enticing Turkish eatery. Gorgeous lamps, original and expensive plates: the real deal! Our food came out and the flavours were traditional; expected; and then a surprise with one dish…. I’d tell you the secret ingredient but it’s better to go and try yourself! Their olive oil is cold pressed and locally sourced from a regional expert connoisseur in Sunbury; and you can taste the superior ingredients in the dishes. A stunning venue, and we will definitely return, perhaps next time to enjoy their banquet.

Lovely Turkish dishes with baked eggplant, red kidney beans, lentil soup, seafood claypot & rice pilaf. I’ve always enjoyed coming back here, & I must admit that I love their food as well as the unique ambience & interior of this restaurant too.

My friend and I decided to try Marmara’s Special Banquet ($65pp), which we booked through EatClub, offering a great discount of 40%. We also tried a couple of their cocktails. Overall, we were happy with everything, however, no dish was anything exceptional, or memorable — it was just fine. The service was very nice and all staff were really great. The interior is cosy and inviting and I loved the TV “windows” on the wall, making you feel like you’re dining somewhere at the Bosphorus. It was a nice experience, but there are other Turkish restaurants offering better, tastier food.

Delicious traditional Turkish 🇹🇷 dinner: spinach feta cheese spring rolls, vegetarian platter, slow-cooked lamb and chickpea claypot, Turkish bread, semolina salva with ice cream, and mastic pudding. 😋👌 Fast service and friendly staff. 🙂👍 Lovely ambience and decorations. 🙂

21/4/23 Tried the special banquet - everything was fantastic. The grilled prawns over rice was the favourite. Great food, great drinks. Will definitely be back to try rest of the menu.

Really enjoyed dinner here. Food was nice, price is reasonable. We shared the mix dips, they were really nice especially the eggplant dip. Turkish bread was warm and delicious. We all ordered the mixed grill. All the meats were cooked well. Rice was nice. Salad basic but enjoyable. Would definitely be back. I think the Google review rating of 4.5 at the time of writing is a perfect rating. But as I can't give a 4.5, 5 it is .

Loved the food and the vibe of this place. This restaurant is 43 years old serving authentic Turkish food. My favourite was their dolma and chicken skewers.

Warm glowing date night lighting, silhouettes of what we assume is Istanbul. Marmara is just as we remember it from our college days, a welcoming spot with delicious food. One of the rare places we loved that's still around. . 🫖Apple & Black Tea 🍚Vine leave dolma 🥖Spinach and feta cheese spring rolls 🥧Iskender – tender lamb off the spit 🥩Mixed grill (serves 1) - karişik izgara 🥒Mixed pickles 🍧Kadaif - sütlü tel kadayif (nests) 🍦Semolina halva with ice cream 🧁Turkish delights . For starters we had rice wrapped in vine leaves and spinach/feta spring rolls. Mains were certainly the highlight with his dish being a clay out of paper thin lamb and beef mince from the turning roast (doner kebab) with a tomato sauce, finished with yoghurt. I also got the lamb (minus sauce aww) as part of the mixed grill platter (1.5 serves). Along with a skewered lamb & chicken fillets, kofte (skinless sausages) and a cutlet (lamb) served with garden salad & pilaf rice. All the meats were delicious, tender and juicy. Nothing dry. Definitely made the right choice. . The dessert menu was a page itself! Choices... he chose a semolina, very light in sweetness. While I had a fascinating dish, served up like nests. Menu says it's oven baked kadayif (fine strings of pastry), soaked in our unique milky honey syrup, topped with crushed walnuts and served with creamy mascarpone. Reminds me of fine vermicelli, so it was certainly an interesting dish. . Service was quick and very friendly. . 🇹🇷 @marmara_restaurant 📍Chapel St // Windsor 💵 $75 for two. We booked through @theforkau (formally dimmi) and got 50% off food.

attended this restaraunt on a Friday night, was told we could only book at 6pm(till 8pm) or 8pm which was hard to get there after work being 45 minutes away. We ordered 5 entrees, 3 mains and 2 servings of the baklava desert, 2 moscato glasses and it came down to $70pp (3 of us). Pretty pricey for the portion sizing that was given. The mixed dips was very nice, the bread it came with was so fluffy and fresh. We finished the basket and had to order another basket. The 2nd basket seemed to have more bread than the first which allowed to finish the dips that was provided. The spinach and feta spring rolls were delicious, highly recommend these. The halloumi and vine leave dolma did not taste authentic. Would not suggest these entrees. The oven baked eggplant entree was nice but was served cold which shocked us as we thought “oven baked” would be a warm entree. For the mains we ordered, skewered lamb fillets, lamb cutlets and mixed grill. The portion sizing was enough for us, but only because we ordered multiple entree. I will say the meat was very tender and flavoursome. The baklava was $7 for 2 small square pieces and a small bowl of icecream. I wouldn’t say this portion sizing is enough for what you’re paying. The restaraunts fit out is beautiful and staff were attentive.

The food was amazing, the service was up to the mark and loved the outdoor seating arrangements. The staff was courteous as they turned on the heater when they saw the weather cooling down. The service was quick and efficient. A bit pricey for the portions but the food quality lives up to its name.

Delicious food in a lovely setting, the wait staff made the experience even better. Had the mixed grill, the capsicum dip and the grilled chicken, all were absolutely delicious. The salad that accompanies the mains was super fresh and the pilaf rice was very tasty. Strongly recommend this restaurant, the staff really made it stand out.

we went for the valentine's banquet. food is quite impressive, but need a pretty long waiting period. some dishes were little bit too salty. The atmosphere is kinda romantic. In general, it was still worthy.

Loved this place! The food was absolutely delicious. Tried the Iskender, loved that the sauce was plenty & flavoursome and the meat was tender and paired beautifully with a basket of Turkish bread. The Turkish bread was warm and so soft, with the crunch of sesame seeds, try this with a variety of dips. The capsicum dip is a must try, seasoned perfectly & so creamy. The cucumber dip, eggplant dip & the hummus were also good, seemed like they were freshly made. The Skewered Chicken Fillets were also flavourful and succulent along with fresh salad and subtly flavoured rice, which all in all was so yummy. Must try their Turkish Apple Tea served in the typical Turkish tea glass. The sweetness of the Apple was perfectly balanced, so just the right amount of sweetness and felt like the juice of a fresh apple, was amazing. The service was also good, they were willing to swap one of the dips over for us from the mixed dip platter. The only downside is the serving size is comparatively small for the price to pay. But nonetheless coz of the quality of the food & service, will surely be back soon. Highly recommend.

Highly recommended, amazing food and great service. If you’re new to Turkish food I suggest trying one of the banquets to get a taste of what’s on offer. The Belly Dancer cocktail is worth trying also.

Beautiful food, every dish is well executed and the taste is perfectly balanced. Even desserts we expect to be very sweet but turns out to be quite subtle and mild. Highly recommend the seafood claypot, mixed dip, mixed grilled, and the pudding dessert

I give this place 5 stars for consistently good food. We go there everytime we visit Melbourne (from Qld). We've been holidaying in Melb for a week now and tried other turkish restaurants but ended up coming back to Marmara to get the lamb cutlets that are the best in Australia! We also had the grilled prawns which were delicious too.

Ordered the special banquet. Food was ok. The dips and bread were great. Nothing else really worth a shoutout. Prawns were good but quite salty. The dessert was horrendous. The baklava was soggy beyond imagination. Do not recommend this place.

Delicious Authentic Turkish cuisine in the heart of Prahran. The staff is really nice and friendly, looks after each table even when is superb busy. The delicious food is arrangement with Anatolic environment and gives that amazing vibe that you are dine in somewhere around the Bosphorus. Definitely I will be back soon and more to try.

The food was delicious, super fast service and the cocktails were great! Lamb chops were one of the best we’ve had. The menu is pretty big but the manager had some great recommendations, glad we asked. Some great vegetarian options too. We enjoyed our dinner, thank you!

Half way through dining on the best Turkiye mixed grill, possibly in all of Melbourne. As a chef myself, it's a rare pleasure to be treated such quality with an everyday staple dish. I can't fault it. Perfect. Thanks guys. (I recommend coming early, this place gets deservedly busy)

Enjoyable dinner for family outing. Ambience was relaxed and fitting for the restaurant, service was attentive, and friendly. Our food choices were enjoyed, mixed dips were a hit, and chicken skewers had the best flavour, the lamb skewers were nice. Lamb claypot didn't quiet have the flavour hit we were expecting. Desserts were nice. Enjoyable dinner, and hope we can go back again to try other dishes.

Marmara is a Turkish restaurant located at the Windsor end of Chapel Street. The family-owned establishment has been serving authentic Turkish cuisine for over 40 years, bringing the flavors and traditions of Turkey to the table. The menu offers a wide range of authentic dishes, including meze platters, lamb kebabs, stuffed grape leaves and baklava. The dishes are made with fresh ingredients and cooked using traditional techniques. They are participating in The Fork’s 50% Dining Festival so i have them a try on a Monday night, The Mixed Dips were okay, we ran out of their fluffy Turkish bread and instead of offering more, they simply took the empty basket, leaving us with a plate full of dip and nothing to eat it with. The service was slow and inattentive, I did notice new staff training so I will put this down to being understaffed. On the positive side, the Manti (Turkish Dumplings) portion was very generous, although it could have used more spice or heat. I appreciated that it wasn't oily like some other versions I've had. The Prawns were juicy and delicious, but the sides on the plate were underwhelming. The salad lacked dressing and looked drab. Overall, Marmara offers a taste of authentic Turkish cuisine, but there are areas where improvements could be made. They have created a nice vibe with the decor which sets a romantic mood.
