Bar Pub Bistro

👍👍 This was a 5 star burger. Just the perfect pub burger and chips. Went down well with a pot of amber juice. Freekin delicious. I lay awake at night and wonder if I'll ever feel that way about a burger again. 🍔 at least we had that one brief but incredible time together. I'll never forget you unio... We live locally and love the food and atmosphere here but we have a lovely quiet dog who also loves the pub and he isn’t allowed there (no dog policy). I never write reviews but thought in this case we would to let the team know that this is a very non Brunswick policy and should be reviewed. Family friendly should be extended to our furry friends too :) thanks team!

I was a little disappointed. I was really looking forward to seeing my mum for lunch. I was told that the pub had been given a new look and feel and that the food was great. I arrived ahead of my mum and asked to start a tab. That's where my encounter with the barmaid made me realize that I had probably come to the wrong place. Usually buying a jug would be cheaper than buying a pint at a time, but there, NO. When I queried why, I was told that she had worked all over Melbourne and it is the same everywhere, which is rubbish. I have had $3 cheaper and even $5 during Happy Hour. So strike 1. Once I had poured myself a beer and had a few mouthfuls, I asked for the menu. She gave me a very weird look, lifted her right arm while still looking at me strangely and pointed at the end of the bar. All of a sudden she leaned over a little and said that they are over there and walked off to serve another customer. Strike 2. My mum arrives and we go to a booth to sit down and look at the menu. The inflated prices jumped out at us right away. We didn't have a lot of time so we decided to take a chance. There was a waiter bringing food out to other patrons. When we tried to get his attention he directed me to the bar. To save time, I went up and asked why he wouldn't take our order. I was told that they don't do table service. I asked "if you bring food out then why not take an order into the chef?" I was answered very directly and a little abruptly by saying "this is a pub not a 5 star resaurant." Stike 3. To say the least, I was not happy about her response. I went back to the table and said to my mum that we should leave. She said that we will see it through. I went back to order. Our order came out in a timely manner and was well presented. It was really good. Both meals were delicious. The only problem was that there were no condiments, salt and pepper or a steak knife for my steak on the table. We got the impression that the person we thought was the waiter was more likely a kitchen hand. So, I had to go and ask for them. Despite the food being delicious, our overall experience was terrible. We tried it, but won't go back. I gave 2 stars for the chef's great job. End of review. 🤨

The beer garden was charming. The kung fu burger was an unexpected combination of pulled pork and prawns - kudos the cooks for being innovative. It was great that they had live music on a Sunday afternoon 🎸🥁

Looks like a lovely pub with great atmosphere. But be warned. Went in for a midweek drink and dinner with our dog. Not even remotely dog friendly! They don't allow dogs into beer garden and refuse to serve food out the front. Could not provide sound reasoning for this, saying "they can't provide food where dogs are". Obviously don't understand the laws. Staff were unhelpful. Pretty disappointed.

A real pub, not a restaurant like a lot of pubs are now. Fabulous food, great feel with a beer garden and a band on particular nights. You just can’t go wrong coming to this original, no fuss, good old fashion pub. One of my family go to’s.

Great local pub. Solid beer list, and a menu of pub classics plus some surprises- all done well. Getting served a couple of slices of white bread and a tiny butter packet before a meal is always a winner for me. Also, easily the best salt and pepper shakers I've seen in a while...

I've been here a few times, but on my most recent visit, I got some dinner, and it was great! This place has the best atmosphere of any pub I've been to. It's well worth a visit!

For invited for a birthday party here! Food good, staff super friendly and great vibe! Great music too. There were too many different ambiences to choose from and hard to go around all in one go so certainly have to visit again!

This pub is why pubs exist. Local and great vibe. It’s not trying to be something flamboyant and is essence of why pubs exist. I love the diverse crowd and community vibe of the place.

worst pub i have ever been to, the few available drinks they had were awful, either too strong or too weak, stopped making cocktails by 9pm on a friday night and the food took over 45 minutes to come out including an entree, and came completely cold. bar tender guy was kinda cute tho(:

Great local vibe and ace homely feels. Early dinner and a local band in the front room makes for a super enjoyable Sunday afternoon.

Great food, served blistering hot despite the pub being way over capacity. Couldn't find anywhere to sit and eat but the band (Moreland City Soul Revue) was brilliant and the venue was understandably packed. Good range of beer, great bar staff, friendly vibe, heaps of families with little kids. This is how you do a small, inner suburban pub. I only wish we had similar venues up in the deep Northern suburbs where I live.

Lovely pub with friendly staff and a top notch range of tap beers. The chicken burger was flipping excellent and the salmon special when I went was also great. Get on down for a great night out.

The best old school pub in Brunswick. Killer chicken Parma! Welcoming atmosphere and I often go down for a Saturday arvo live music sesh. Great beer garden too. Hope this place never changes!

One of the last great homely and pretentious-free pubs serving great food, good beers and with lovely staff. I've been loving this pub since 2015 and it consistently delivers.

Always good for a lunch and great selection of beers on tap. We love getting the basket of bread. Little touches like that show the level of care you get here!

A great relaxed vibe in an old school pub atmosphere with friendly, groovy/alternative bar staff. There’s an outdoor area with covered tables. We had lunch of oven roasted trout which was delicious.

Awesome lockdown takeaway eggplant parma. Would get again! Simply order over the phone, pay on pick up. Was fresh, a very generous portion size and delicious chips. Thanks to everyone at the Union hotel Brunswick.
