Lovely place and experience.. Wherever we travel I tried to find activities for kids, and my 6 years old son absolutely loved it every step of the workshop; from picking up leaves and flowers, fixing on the fabric, choosing the colors and deciding what to do with fabric all the way back :). Great place to visit, totally worth it . Thank you Stefanie and Tony

If you're looking for something to stimulate your creativity, this is the place to go. Regardless if you're artistic or not, you get the chance to create something absolutely beautiful. Tony, Stephanie and Nyssa made us feel right at home! You get to enjoy and appreciate an amazing view and the simplicities of life. We will definitely be going back, with our friends and family. Recommended for both locals and tourists.

This is the only place we have found (so far) while visiting Seychelles that offers a cultural activity and experience. We really enjoyed our experience with Tony and Stephanie who made us feel super welcome and comfortable, from our coconut juice welcome to the conversation, banter and fabric design. I would definitely recommend the textile workshops to others. Word of advice to everyone - do not attempt this journey by foot!!! it is on very steep grounds.

We are a couple that enjoys getting a chance to visit with people when we travel and that is exactly what we were fortunate enough to experience at Roots Seychelles. What a fabulous day! Stephanie and Tony were great hosts and with their guidance we were able to create beautiful pareos to bring home. We love what we created! We began by selecting our flowers and leaves from the garden, then we placed them on our fabric, painted it and waited for the sun to dry it. In the meantime we got the chance to talk at length with Tony and Stephanie, look at the gorgeous maps created by Stephanie, visit with Tony's mom and and enjoy fresh juice and baked goods. We had the best time talking with Tony about natural healing with plants and he even cut a coconut and used it to help our sunburns. This was the best day for us and its one we won't forget. I highly recommend this experience.

Had a great time getting creative by making our own pareos with the surrounding flora and fauna. Stephanie and Tony were so friendly and welcoming, and we especially enjoyed the freshly pressed local juices and local banana cakes to finish off the art session. A little island treasure. 10/10 recommend!

This is such a lovely and unique experience! Tony and Stephanie are fun conversationalists and will help you create a forever memorable keepsake of your time in the Seychelles while learning about the Seychellois way of life. The roads are a bit challenging to get there but it's absolutely worth your time to make a special Seychelles memory. πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¨

This workshop was recommended by a friend after seeing it on Holidaying with Jane McDonald. As I like to participate in memorable, cultural activities with local communities when I travel, this looked ideal as there isn't maybe tour/workshops like this available. It is ran by Stefanie and her husband Tony - such a lovely, friendly couple. We booked direct as it was a lot cheaper and I could ask some questions (i.e. my husband wanted to be there but not take part so didn't have to pay). This is great as a solo activity like I did, or as a couple or a group. You are greeted by Stefanie and then given some scissors and a basket to collect the nature you want to include - the more the better. Then they talk through the traditional sun printing method - all very easy - and you get to be as creative and fun as you want. While it is drying, we got some snacks and a drink - there was also water available throughout if we wanted it. I'd also recommend lots of sun cream and a hat as there is no shelter from the sun. It is located up a mountain, so the road (which is typical in Mahe) was quite challenging, but just take it slow or get a taxi. It would be a tough uphill walk from Beau Vallon beach, but doable. By the end of it we could take away our beautiful sarong. There was no rush and we were welcome to stay as long as we wanted - the views are to die for at the top!! There is also a small shop on-site. Please note: cash only. Definitely one of the most memorable parts of our holiday and one of the most unique workshops I've done while travelling.

Had a wonderful, laid back time here creating some art to take back home. Great hosts providing refreshments, good conversation and a wealth of helpful advice for those of us not so artfully-gifted! Recommend.
