One of the best restaurants in Vienna. I was not enthusiastic about the service. Excellent Viennese schnitzel, huge enough for a couple. Veal schnitzel is a very large portion that is also enough for two. A special and excellent potato addition

Nice, traditional restaurant for a genuine Wiener schnitzel. Not much than that though. A big, efficient tourist spot. Spot, not a trap. Most likely you’ll need to join a fairly long q to get inside. Quite fair value for money especially taking location under consideration.

Very nice restaurant and location. It was all typical dishes and they are all super good and great quality! I’d definitely recommend the veal Schnitzel. The potato salad is SO good!!! Really like the Austrian style for it. We also tried the typical soup with the bread dumpling which was very nice on a cold evening. Elemental pan-fried was good too, if you like that cheese, the taste is def not intense or surprising but still good. The rose wine was AMAZING, if you like wine, get it, it’s quite fruity and fresh! And don’t forget about the typical desert and to leave tips. Overall, it was great and exactly what I expect and wanted when I first book it but it won’t be spectacular food either. Also, book a table, very easy and you avoid the long queue outside! Nice service.

We reserved a spot two weeks before, and we were lucky because there was a big line. The restaurant itself is like a maze, a lot of different rooms. The people around were young groups and families, a really friendly atmosphere. We ordered a beef schnitzel with tomato salad and potato salad. The schnitzel really is amazing, they give you knifes that aren't sharp at all since you just don't need it. The dish cuts easily, with great taste. I also cannot ignore the salads - both have amazing taste, really great! Overall experience was really good, with fair prices. Recommended for all!

Very good food but for the price I would say it’s better to go somewhere else. It felt like high prices to trap tourists. Go here once, but places you wish to go frequently there are definitely better options. Like I said, we enjoyed the food a lot. However, our experience was soured when we came to pay. We understand that tipping is generally expected in Austria for restaurants with good food and service. We wanted to pay by card and then tip with cash afterwards. The waiter rudely exclaimed, when giving the card machine to us, to remember that service was not included. We were aware of this and wanted to give a cash tip. After the receipt printed from the machine, the waiter then pointed to the receipt and read aloud “service not included” in (again) a very rude tone. This was unacceptable and so we left without tipping due to the abhorrent rudeness of the waiter which left our dinner party stunned. Tipping is customary, and we were willing to tip. But forcing customers to tip whilst being rude isn’t going to get you what you want. So overall a disappointing experience for something I had high expectations for. 2* feels generous.

I was in Vienna for the day and quickly searched up the best schnitzel in town and this is the first restaurant that came up. The interior is high quality and old school as well. The service was fast and friendly. The schnitzel was so huge that it barely fit on the plate! The potato salad was the best that I’ve ever had. My friend ordered the glazed calf ribs which came in a delicious gravy. Overall a great experience!

Oh, this was so good! 😌 Where to start? The first thing you should know is that this is a very popular restaurant. When we arrived there were queues coming out of the building and note it was very cold, so you know people really wanted the food here. We had a reservation so after skipping the queue an being seated it was just a matter of deciding what to eat. I went for the schnitzel of course and my partner had a dumpling with potatoes. I wanted to know what all the fuss was about but now I understand what I've been missing out on. If you like tasty meat dishes this schnitzel is so delicious 😋. The other dishes were nice too. As for dessert we opted for the Kaiserschmarrn... Oh my! It was amazing! Light sweet and well balanced 👌😃 The staff were very friendly despite it being incredibly busy and the atmosphere was warm, modern and welcoming. It was a nice way to round off our day in Vienna. You must go!

The schnitzel wasn’t the best one in Vienna, I had better one. The Fries was good. Without reservation you should stand in a line for at least 30 minutes. The prices were a lot, in my mind you can find better options in Vienna;)

Huge schnitzel, that’s what you expect… it was otherwise a bit on the simple side. For sure good, if you are a meat lover. Nothing for you, when you are more on a balanced diet with vegetables. The potato salad was delicious! The vegetarian schnitzel option is a 3/5.

Despite the long waiting queue during dinner peak time, it was well worth it. A reservation in advance is recommended. We very much enjoyed both the original schnitzel and the Veal schnitzel (which is a bit pricier), condiments, fries and the potatoes were also very good. Steak tartare could be improved.

Highly recommended! If you want to try the schnitzel, come really hungry - it’s HUGE! Worth every bite though. And if you do not manage to finish, you can get it packed in a box to take home. The place itself is really nice, with friendly and attentive staff :)

First of all reserve your spot otherwise you will end up in a lone for more than an hour. Their potato salad is the best in the city. They add a sauce to it which tastes incredible. The place is well known for their schnitzel so don't forget that. Their service is perfect. Everything is thought of, well placed in order and ontime. Their food price is very reasonable in comparison to the service that you get.

The best veal Schnitzel I have ever had. The restaurant is very good and the atmosphere is very nice inside the restaurant. True, you have to wait a little bit to get a table but at the end you will get a table and it’s worth waiting for. The staff was very friendly and we had a great dinner there with the veal schnitzel and the vegetarian dish and the potato salad. Very delicious. It is a little bit expensive but it’s worth it.

Make sure to make a reservation or willing to wait. The service was good, and so was the food. I went there solo and manage to get a table after a shorter wait. I went for the Wien Schnitzel instead of the original at the restaurant. If you are in a group, probably should order a few different dishes and share them.

Huge schnitzel for a great price! This place is famous for their schnitzel and it was only 17 euros! We also ordered the boiled beef (local Austrian dish) which was really good as well. The beef was tender and soup was soothing. Also try the grapefruit juice!

Food was tasty and good an very big portions! Wine list wasn’t good. There was only few wines! We visiting in Vienna several times of the year but first time here! An experience to try for fabulous Schnitzel and typical food. We got back after 7 years and food stays as good as it was 7 years ago. The waiting time if you do not book is really too long. We stayed in line more than 1 hour… So my advice book it a few days before because they are in demand. Their pork Schnitzel my favourite!

waiting for entry is a leisurely hour. there were four of us. We ordered schnitzels, potato and tomato salad and soups. soup - nothing special, very average, not worth the price. amazing schnitzel - perfectly patted and fried. there are no downsides. the potato salad was outstanding, the tomato salad was very good. Unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. after us, 5 people came in and were served by another waiter, they got their food 25 minutes before us(?!). They had already finished eating and we were still waiting. the waiter who served us was averagely polite, which cannot be said about the rest of the staff we observed. prices high. I don't know if we will come back.

The original schnitzel is very big. The stuff is extremely friendly and polite. You should definitely reserve a table beforehand as it attracts many people that queue up waiting to be seated. Definitely recommend !

We ordered the classic schnitzel and the goulash dish. Both were delicious and definitely enough for 2 hungry guys. The restaurant is very nice and the atmosphere is great. Although the experience was great overall- our waiter gave us the worst experience, it felt like he’s doing us a favor talking to us and bringing the check - definitely not a pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend - I’m assuming not all of the stuff in the restaurant are like this.

This restaurant was amazing. I am so glad I made a reservation a month in for my trip as when we got there there was a line out the door. It was a weekend night, and I read the reviews that I can get busy, but I was not expecting that when we got there, but thanks for the reservation. We didn’t have to worry and the food was spectacular. The schnitzel is a must which is what they’re known for. It is bigger than the average persons head (used fisheye lens to take a picture) you could easily just split it between two people and still be full. The staff was great they have definitely earned their reputation for being phenomenal.

This place fills up quick! We were recommended this spot and made reservations for as soon as they opened, by the time we were done, the restaurant was packed and there was a queue outside in the rain! The food was delicious, but honestly, the schnitzels were not that much better than other local spots, but it was a pretty big portion. The drinks and service were fantastic. A bit overpriced as it is a tourist restaurant, but we still enjoyed it! We had their specialty schnitzel (pork) and the fried Emmanuel cheese, both to share and it was plenty!

First of all service is great. Greatest even. The waiters are very nice, take care of your needs frequently. The overall mood of the restaurant is top notch. It's clean, taken care of and sets you into positive mood before you even start to eat. And then comes food - comforting and hearty. Sauces are essential, meat is high quality, side dishes are just right. Schnitzel's, liver or sweetbreads were awesome, that's why we're coming back tomorrow and every time we will visit Vienna.

Most quoted place when speaking about the best (or the first) Wienerschnitzel in Vienna. The Schitzel was really larger than a plate (maybe because the plate was quite small), but nevertheless, it was quite good. The staff was polite and quick. It is a bit more expensive than the rest restaurants nearby, probably due to its popularity.

Love this restaurant. Have been here multiple times in past year's visits to Vienna and it never disappointed. Delicious food, the real specialist and birth ground of the Wiener Schnitzel. Superb. Quick tip here, it's often very busy. Making a reservation is therefore recommended, especially with groups of 4+ guests. If you're alone or just with 2, you could take a shot and walk by to see if there are people waiting outside.

One of the most famous places for schnitzel in Vienna. Must visit. I would suggest to make an online reservation before visiting otherwise you have to wait in line. The wiener schnitzel and chicken cordon blue were really tasty. The fries nothing special ... But for me the highlights were the potato salad and pumpkin soup.. Best ones i have ever had.

We were not able to make a reservation because it was all booked for about a month ahead… we waited outside about an hour to get in… the food was amazing! We had their signature schnitzel and draft beer and fresh mixed salad and potato salad… everything was really good! If you have enough time to make a reservation ahead highly recommend this place!

Delicious. Price are reasonable for the portions of food you have. Authentic food. Should try it if you go to Wien. The portions of the Wiener schnitzel is bigger than a hand, you can order with the potato salad and feel full. Tried other places authentic food and they give you too salty or slightly salty, this one has the right amount of salt. There were many people waiting outside. Better have a reservation.

We had a fantastic meal at Figlmüller! While the schnitzel wasn't the best we've tried, the stand out meals were surprisingly the spinach dumplings and potato salad. Unique and absolutely delicious. The dumplings were perfectly soft with cheesey goodness running all the way through them. Not to mention the browned butter sauce they were nestled in, which was divine! The potato salad was light and punchy with the perfect amount of pumpkin seed oil over the top, which complimented the salad perfectly. We arrived a little before 6pm and were seated immediately without a reservation. Nice service and great prices. Would return!

Without doubt the best schnitzel ever! It’s big enough to share with 2 persons. The salad next to it was also very yummy. Only downside is that this location wasn’t very cozy - the other one looks way cozier! It’s recommended to make a reservation, otherwise you have to queue up.

I recently dined at Figlmüller Bäckerstraße, and it was an experience that exceeded my expectations. The highlight of my visit was definitely the schnitzel. I tried both the cheese and turkey ham schnitzel and the classic beef schnitzel. The cheese and turkey ham schnitzel was a delightful surprise, offering a delicious twist on the traditional dish. It was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The beef schnitzel was equally impressive, especially when enhanced with a squeeze of lemon. The tanginess of the lemon brought out the rich flavors of the meat, creating a perfect balance. I was expecting butter on top of the schnitzels, but it turned out there was none. However, this did not detract from the taste, which was still exceptional. One thing to note is that we had to wait almost an hour to be seated. While initially a bit frustrating, the wait turned out to be absolutely worth it. The ambience of the restaurant, combined with the quality of the food, made for a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend Figlmüller Bäckerstraße to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious schnitzel in Vienna.

A lovely restaurant with traditional Viennese cuisine, albeit a bit touristy. The pork schnitzel and the potato salad were delicious and a portion was more than enough for two people to share. Make sure to reserve a table long before your visit, we hadn't reserved but were lucky enough to find a table within minutes after we got there.

I tried the original Wiener schnitzel with fries but also I grabbed a bite from the potato salad as well, I really love how soft the schnitzel was however I can't tell the same thing for it's taste. You can find the same quality stuff at other places as well. I congratulate them due to their well pr but all the hype didn't meet with my expectations.

Pretty awesome restaurant serving traditional schnitzel. Just be reminded that reservations are highly recommended although you can try your luck around 1:30 to 2 PM if you line up for a seat. You can opt for the recommended special which is the traditional pork schnitzel and do the side of potato salad (as pictured). Take a side of ligon berry jam for an extra layer of flavor. Keep in mind that the schnitzel is quite a big portion and can be good for 2. The soup with dumpling is delicious as well. Prepares an empty stomach for the main course. Also had the chocolate cake dessert, very creamy, thick and real chocolatey! Recommend having a Radler (beer w lemonade) or their house rose with the meal.

Figlmüller is one of the finest and well known dining spot in Vienna that was established in 1905 🇦🇹 They have great antique interior and it feels so authentic. Figlmüller has great specialties of food, but I took the Wien Schnitzel from Veal and their potato salad. The schnitzel and the potato salad were amazing, I got my schnitzel in two pieces which was disappointing as I wanted the large piece. You also have to try the almdudler, a special Austrian lemonade.

Definitely one of the best place where to eat the schnitzel. After a quick research, a lot of confrontation for the price, and a quick read of the review (there are a lot, at this time 20k+), i understood the assignement, so we decided to come in. After a short wait (maybe 10 min or less), the personel let us in. We asked which schnitzel was the best one, and the waiter told us that they are both good, but for his personal taste the cheapest was the best. After this confrontation, we decided to take both. Not gonna lie, there is almost no difference, but i prefered the wiener one. The potato salad was absolutely stunning, in fact we ordered it twice. Definitely not a turist trap, not very expansive and the price worth the prize. 5/5 stars. Good job!

The food is good but the waiting time is too long. We waited for almost 45 minutes from ordering to being served! We added more beer during the meal, but the beer was never served, We reported the problem to the waiter and he just asked us to wait. The service was not very good.

Great place to go for the the first place to invent schnitzel- portions are huge almost good for two. They don’t come with sides so order some of the fantastic sides like roasted potato’s or potato salad. Cozy can be a long wait. They take reservations or you can walk up. Neat and service was great

Incredible Wiener schnitzel! Best I have ever had! I ordered the veal schnitzel. It was deliciously crispy outside and perfectly cooked inside. Also, my server was wonderful and attentive. Interior is super cozy. Perfect for a wonderful dinner. Pro tip, please make reservation in advance.

We booked a month ahead for our lunch and when we arrived we saw the long queue just outside to ✋️ for tables. Its location is on the side street close by to the church. We had a nice cosy corner table, and the superbly friendly Artan service was excellent Food is top-notch 👌 😋 and has a good serving size, so just make sure you check with the staff! My advice is to make reservations ahead of time The decor 😍 is very chic-classic and lovely green tiles! The washrooms are very nice and clean as well! The reception staff and manager on duty are very friendly and welcoming 🙏 😀 Overall, it is a great dining experience

Food: really good, especially the tomatoes salad, so many different types of tomatoes and each with different umami taste, also the wiener schnitzel very big, a bit dry but very tasteful. Service: not really attentive but I wont say it was bad. Atmosphere: nothing catchy, pretty clean and also modern on the back part of the restaurant, meanwhile on the front side it's pretty old fashioned and classic. Recommend if you never tried the Wien specialties, it's a pretty good place to start you food adventure in Wien.

Good experience and traditional food, staff not very friendly. Feels like a schnitzel warehouse (so big) and quite over-priced, but nice experience overall. Was happy with the vegan option.

Queued quite a while during lunch rush - pro tip: BOOK. Good service, tasty potato salad and a really nice grape juice spritz. Pork schnitzel was just OK however. Maybe bad luck on my part. Kaiserschmarrn was delicious. Get this and coffee. Yes.

We did not have a reservation and went in for lunch and we're seated right away. Ordered the Pork Schnitzel and the potato salad. Amazing very tasty and light. It is perfect enough to share and they serve it to you in half . First time trying the beer with Lemonade and it was super refreshing. Paired really good with this meal.

Veal and pork schnitzel at one of the original schnitzel restaurants in Vienna. Pork was so large, it was overflow from the plate. Rye sourdough was good, and came in a paper sac, but four small slices was not enough for the suggested caramelized onion butter. Dressing for both the potato salad, served with micro greens, and frisée were a little on the sweeter side, though delicious. Overall a great restaurant in the heart of the old city.

The home of the schnitzel didn't disappoint. Be sure to book though as otherwise you will find it difficult to get a table. The schnitzel was so huge and delicious. The chicken cordon bleu was also spectacular. A must visit restaurant in Vienna.

Popular place for schnitzels. We enjoyed the traditional potato salad, side salad, beef stock soup with dumpling and a schnitzel between two people. Service was friendly but it wasn't the best schnitzel we've had. The schnitzel was slightly dry on the inside so we had to order a side of lingonberry sauce. The portion size was huge and the price was relatively decent considering the amount of food we were served. All in all, worth trying but don't have the highest expectations. Make sure you book in advance as there are large queues

Vienna, Figlmüller: Wiener Schnitzel has been fried here for 110 years! a few steps from the Cathedral of Santo Stefano. The place is obviously touristy, but celebrates the typical recipes of Viennese cuisine, well-prepared dishes served with courtesy and professionalism, the fried foods are well done and at the end of the meal, they do not disturb your digestion at all. Without a reservation it is difficult to find a table. Away from a tourist trap, it's an iconic Vienna landmark, and a meal at Figlmüller is a must if you want a slice of the Viennese experience.

  • 5/5 Vlad S. 9 months ago on Google
This is one of the very traditional places to eat in Vienna and it's very popular so best to make a reservation or you might be queuing to get in. So how's the Schnitzel? First of all, it's HUGE! It's very thin though, but it's still a very big portion. It's also really tasty and works well with their potato salad. The service was a bit odd though decently friendly and the prices were on the higher side, though about right given the setting. Overall a very good experience so if you're looking to try the authentic Wiener Schnitzel, this is the place to do it.

  • 5/5 Ralf M. 9 months ago on Google
This is an absolute must for every Vienna visit. The Schnitzel bigger than a plate. And on top it is really delicious 😋!! But I had also other dishes like calf liver. It is great and worthwhile waiting 20 min for getting seated. Best is you reserve in advance.

I recently had the pleasure of dining here, a renowned establishment known for its delectable schnitzel dishes. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm and inviting ambiance. The schnitzel here is simply exceptional. I ordered the classic Wiener Schnitzel, and it was cooked to perfection - crispy, golden-brown on the outside, and tender on the inside. The portion size was generous, ensuring I left the restaurant completely satisfied. The attentive and friendly staff made the dining experience even more enjoyable. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food and the dining experience make it worth every penny. Whether you're a schnitzel connoisseur or trying it for the first time, Figmuller is the place to be.

One of the Better known places it town. The snitzel was good but you can possibly get an even better one in less known places in Vienna. The environment though, the quality of the service and also the fact that it is not very expensive make it a top notch destination for visitors.

Amazing food, friendly atmosphere and staff who go a little further than most. My only negatives from this restaurant are the noise level (a bit much for anyone with sensory issues) and the toilets (compared to the high quality of the rest of the place they're rather mediocre) As one might expect, the food and drinks are a little on the pricy end, but worth it if you can afford. I would recommend booking, there was a small queue but we were seated quite quickly because we had a reservation.

Most famous restaurant in the world. It was a long queue on Saturday, luckily they have a table for 2 so waited maybe 30 mins. The schnitzel is so good and big. Boiled beef is also full of flavour and surprised me. The browned potato is so nice and i almost love the boiled beef more than schnitzel.
