The way a pub should be: compact, cozy and smoky. The decor of the by-gone musical greats supports the good “oldies” and rock music. The service and prices are on par. The bread with topping and then baked cheese for €5.10 is tasty value. We were there at 6pm and the place was filling up - other reviews report it getting very crowded.

This bar 😍!!!! Two years ago (October) I met here a guy from Switzerland (French part) and had the night (and the day after) of my life (in Europe). Sad thing, I had my phone broken right after and couldn't contact him anymore. All I remember is he told me he frequented this bar, he studied some chemistry major in Vienna and used to play hockey. A place for locals mostly. If you fancy a local beer and a smoke, don’t care about decor or cleanliness, and rock music being played just a little too loud - look no further. It’s not a bad place, if you’re into that kind of thing: limited selection of drinks and snacks, nothing extravagant, cheap prices and no expectations. You will smell like smoke for days, though.

Nice cozy and casual little rocker pub with decent pricing and some good snacks. Yes, people are allowed to smoke inside because it is small enough. Yes, that results in smokey air and atmosphere. If cigarette smoke two meters away from you ruins your evening and if you care about what your clothes will smell like after, this isn't the place for you. If you don't mind, this is a super cool place to just chill for a bit, enjoy the music, company and decent beer. I don't smoke, but I love the Gitarre. To each their own. If you want a table, book one beforehand. Gitarre is popular and therefore crowded. If you're unlucky, you won't get to sit down for some time. Even during the week.

If you like a chilled beer and good mood, rock n roll and friendly guest, nice waitresses and waiters a uncomplicated chat than Café Gitarre is the bar to spend an evening. I hope you all add the missing star. Enjoy!

Good music, average priced beer. Very suitable for fans of rock music. However nonsmokers beware there is no non smoking section and the ventilation could be better.
