A different place to try Austrian food. If you looking to try some authentic Austrian food with an author taste and cheap this is the place. The place looks really underground. They change the dishes daily. The food it's really tasty, a lot of flavor!

The place is located very centrally, and easily accessible. The menu is good, and the staff very polite. Unfortunately, what I ordered though was decent, but didn't pass as value for money for me. Nevertheless, it is worth trying.

I had been wanting to eat here for a while and I finally did! I am often quite sceptical of restaurants with high scores as the expectations run rather high in such cases and Schachtelwirt is no exception. But I must admit this place deserves its high score. The roast pork was absolutely delicious and the portion was large enough to fill you for hours on end. The staff was super friendly and the vibe was amazing. It is lovely to see a modern hip place serving traditional Austrian food. A hidden gem worth giving a try. You won't be disappointed! Cards accepted.

Lucky find on Google which completely warranted its 4.7 rating. We were lucky enough to secure a table without having to reserve a table beforehand. The place is small and ( potentially seat up approx 25 - 30 people) was quite busy with only 2 staff ( 1 serving, manning the till, taking orders and preparing food, the other was doing the cooking) We ordered the trio of schnitzels with potato salad as well as the roast pork with crackling with bread dumplings- both were quite tasty and was cooked properly. Pricing was quite reasonable also We ordered a Kaiserschmarnn for take away, which is delicious Would recommend this place for sure when in Vienna, Austria!

Their menu changes weekly but the roast pork is always on it. The chef was really helpful and happy to explain the menu items to everyone that walked in. We started with the hearty Old Viennese Potato Soup which was perfect for the cold weather. We had their famous roast pork as it's what they are famous for and it really is delicious. We also had the boiled beef which was pretty good. Highly recommended to give this place a try as it's decently priced too.

Place was one minute from the Wedding Statue. Multiple vegetarian options. I got cabbage with pasta and truffle oil, and the boss got pasta with King Mushrooms. This is a cool, cozy place, and the food is excellent. Our server spoke perfect English and was great at explaining all vegetarian options. Great place.

We had their signature dish, roast pork with crackling bread crumbling, and they did not fail! The potato dunplings were infused with the pork flavour and easy to the platelet. The bread crumblings tasted like crispy pork skins and they were fantastic. The server and the cook were both very friendly and speak English well. Fully recommend this place for a full meal or for a quick bite!

Really good! We came here to try some traditional Austrian food. Affordable (10-13 euros per plate) Recommended!

Cosy place in the heart of Vienna with a talented chef and friendly staff. The food was truly delicious, portions were quite large for the price. If I had to eat at oke place only during my next visit to Vienna, this would probably be it. They have new dishes every week, not sure if their signature dish is also changed. Very few tables are available inside (3-5 perhaps) with high chairs. No coat hangers are available so it's probably a better idea to just get a takeout especially in winter.

A gem of a place for both delicious food and very friendly and polite staff. I tried the minced meatballs with potato puree and it was really tasty, albeit more salty than I would have liked. The portion size was generous for the price and the menu changes weekly which hints to a passionate and talented chef.

Walked in here for Lunch on the way to the Hofburg palace. The shop is small and is very suited for quick meals. We ordered the roast pork with dumplings and crackling and the tomato arugula and goat cheese salad at their recommendation. Both choices were excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely a place to stop by in the middle of a day of sightseeing in Innerestadt.

Went here based on the reviews below - great food, very affordable, and huge portions! Had both the soup and the famous pork with dumplings and left very satisfied. Good selection of craft beers. The service was very quick which was appreciated at the end of a day of travelling. Would highly recommend.

Excellent ! We had lunch here because is a local place and they serve local/fusion food. The food comes in carboard boxes and the menu selection is small but that is not a problem because the food is just delicious and the portions are big. We had pork belly with dumplings. It came with some Crunchy chicharrones on top and a bed of sauerkraut. The pork was beautifully pulled with the bitter taste of the cabbage. spectacular. Mushroom Goulasch, came with the bread inside. Lacked a bit of taste but for a veg dish was fine. Lamb meatballs. Very well stewed. Liked it. This is a very good place for a quick meal or a takeaway. Nevertheless the quality is good and I recommend it

Cozy place in the city center to try Austrian food. They rotate dishes every week, with the amazing stable dish “pork stew with craut and dumplings”! Higly recommended.

Oh my gosh. I'm eating here right now. The roast pork. I'm honestly very disappointed I didn't come here earlier in my short trip to Vienna to be able to eat here multiple times. This food is fresh, original, incredibly flavoursome, the staff are very friendly, it's cheap. Highly highly recommend.

Love this shop. Best meal in Vienna for us. The dishes are creative and they serve good craft beer too. If you had travel through Eastern Europe for 2 weeks like I had, you probably eaten all kinds of Goulash by now and got stuffed stupid with schnitzel upon arriving at Vienna. Food are served in small boxes like Chinese food in America. Seemingly small serving but you will find yourself struggling to finish the food as it will filled with generous serving of meat and ingredient. Shop is rather small and we headed in near to 9pm. But the staff were in no hurry to close the shop nor chase us out. Friendly and accommodating. No issues with stupid tips like all other 'famous' Vienna restaurants. They should take a lesson from this shop and see how to treat patrons properly. It's easy to miss while walking along the streets but trust in Google map to bring you there. You be sorry to miss this.

Finally a place which focuses on what they supposed to focus on . It doesnt want to be the fanciest place the most modern restaurant, don’t try to be the no1 in marketing cliches , or advertisements. They just want to deliver the Best possible food what they can and they doing it great !Surprisingly good food , the best what I tried so far in Vienna , and I tested already many of them ! A big thanks to the staff for the kind service as well ! :)

Food that goes directly to your heart and reminds of the traditional flavors, with a touch of modern. This is just the place that Vienna needed desperately, and the kind that we’ve long been looking for! Cozy, small place with the right atmosphere and food selection. Great quality, fairly priced. Expect to find a different menu every few days! But don’t worry, I bet you’ll leave with a full tummy & a happy heart. The best part? Seeing the chef cooking the dishes on the spot, tasting and feeling, how good cooking is all about.

Great wee place for tasty, wholesome food. I had the roast pork which was delicious, and filled me up well after a long, chilly day of travel. There were also good vegetarian options which had me tempted! The staff were really friendly, spoke very good English but were also patient when I wanted to practice my German.

Lovely little place, we got to try 3 types of schnitzel for €15 (shared between 2 at lunch), came with salad, amazing potato salad and lingonberry sauce also worth trying the different soft drinks (cola and orange were nice), it is really small but we shared a table and people were just stopping for a quick bite so everyone was able to sit

The food is Great and they change the menu every few days. We went there twice during our stay in Vienna and both times we were super Happy. The price is also very good for the centre of Vienna, one main dish is between 9 and 12 €. If we come to Vienna again this would definitely be our go to place for dinner.

Ordered the soup, roasted liver kidneys, & some beers. The kidneys were the bomb!! The kidney and the fat on it complimented very well with the sauce and the starchy potatoes. Will definitely go back to try the other dishes. Staff was extremely warm and friendly. Highly recommend to try it out! If you are someone mindful of your clothes/hair smelling of food after, then you might want to take away like I did as its an open kitchen. Otherwise the high tables and the causal ambience is actually quite nice. The food are in a takeaway box anyways, so either way it works out!

They recommended the pork crackling and it was tasty😌 came with bread dumplings & sauerkraut. I recommend it if you're in Vienna.

Super delicious Austrian food, served very quickly and full of flavour. The pork roast was amazing and the trio of Schnitzels as well. The guys in the restaurant were friendly and very happy to answer all our doubts. A must try if you visit Vienna. Thanks!

On my only day in Vienna I obviously wanted to try some local food. Found this place close to St. Stephens Cathedral and had several good reviews. Its a tiny place with an open kitchen so you see all your food being cooked. I chose the Grostel which is basically potatoes, onions, pumpkin sauteed with a mayonnaise based sauce. I also opted for roast duck to be thrown in there. They serve you in paper takeaway boxes which is a good idea. The dish tasted good with the veggies sauteed well and the highlight was the mayo sauce. A bit too much of potato for my liking but thats individual taste. Cost about 10 euros without any drinks but I guess thats Vienna prices for you. Surely worth a try!

Absolutely delicious, perfect for cold winters. The ‘creamy fusilli with kale’ was light and creamy with a hint of caraway. The ‘creamy lentils’ had a stronger flavour and spice to it. I highly recommend both! The only thing I didn’t like was the drink matcha lemon soda cannot recall name..

It’s my 2nd time in Vienna and 2nd time in this place. And next time I’m back, I will come back here again :) exceptional service, very very good food and always some vegetarian option. Local, super tasty. Also, they change their menus every week so thats super nice cause you can always try something new. I definitely recommend🥰

So glad I got to try their roast pork and crackling! Every staff member was very friendly. Crackling was very delicious! Also, I loved the sauerkraut that comes with it which balances the flavour. The food comes in a cardboard box, but you can sit inside as there are quite a few tables. Would come again to try other dishes!

A cool, modern, industrial setting for traditional Austrian food. A simple menu of hearty choices offered in a small venue. Industrial design choices, low volume enjoyable techno music, food served in takeway boxes (metal, reusable cutlery). Thoroughly enjoyed!

Probably our favorite meals from our visit to Vienna since it was delicious and great value. The people who work there are super nice and patient in answering any questions, especially if you don’t speak German. Note: they rotate menus every week!

A super nice waiter welcomed us in a cold and snowy day. The place is cozy and not that big, so we had to wait a couple of minutes but it was worth it. The food is delicious, at a low and effordable price, and the quality is extremely high. Definitely one of the best places for a tasty Viennese lunch

Fast and cheap austrian food. We ordered Käsespätzle and it was very good for 10€. Small place so it's better if you take the food away but it's nice to eat inside as well! The staff is super nice and friendly

Absolutely loved it. Great local food at affordable prices. And brilliant service. Highly recommend it. They tend to have 1-2 vegetarian options as well. Nothing vegan here.

Cool place to grab something to eat whether on the go or for dinning in. There are okay prices for the whole day (we went for dinner and one box costs around €9 ~ €9.5, Almdudler costs €3 though), and the man working there was super nice and attentive (his English was also really good). I ordered the pork crackling with pulled pork, dumplings and sour cabbage. It was okay, as it was way too salty for me (the outside of the dumplings were saltier than the pork, so eating them together was okay. However eating anything by itself was really salty.) My friends ordered cauliflower patties (I think), and they tasted good as well. The portion of the pulled pork was really large, and there was a lot of sour cabbage and a lot of meat.
