Really interesting and unique place with historical value. You should definitely book beforehand. The stuff is really kind and the food is traditional. Would recommend

If there was 6 stars I would give 6. Viennese veal schnitzel was excellent, even exciting, thinly sliced, huge , filling the whole plate! It came to my table and I devoured almost everything in just few bite. The problem was that I also had wonderful potatoes and a crazy green salad that I could not give up 😇. And strawberries with chicken are really surprising good! Also an amazing dessert was ready to be ordered, Delicious! And the championship service! A successful ending to a delightful evening. My partner was perfect too! ❤

This restaurant was recommended by our cruise ship and it did not disappoint! It is tucked back an alley near St. Stephens in a very old building. The food was amazing. I was able to try goose for the first time. It has been slow roasted to give it a crispy crust with just the right amount of seasoning. It was on a bed of red cabbage with apples and served along side a potato dumpling. My husband was able to experience deer loin. Such a pleasant Austrian experience. The service was fantastic with a waiter that spoke impeccable English. I would highly recommend.

A cute, cave like, very old, but with great ambience and feel restaurant. The various dishes were all quite delicious, even the sour kraut was special. Good service!

Absolutely loved the place, located in the more historic part of Wien. The service is perfect, the food was awesome. The schnitzel was amazing as was the apple strudel and the beer. Exactly the type of restaurant we prefer on our trips around cities.

Dined here in Aug 2022 A traditional Austrian restaurant with good food and service. The schnitzel and tafelspitz were one of the best I’ve had. The pricing is quite reasonable. Would recommend people to make a reservation from beforehand (esp if you want outdoor seating) as the place is quite popular and it can get crowded. Service was quick and efficient. Would definitely recommend people visiting Vienna to visit this restaurant from the 1500s

Ambiance is one of its kind and you really feel like you are in time travel. We tried schnitzel here, I just can't say it was as good as Figlmuller's. But it's worth the ambiance.

One of the oldest restaurants in Vienna offering traditional Austrian dishes. Unfortunately some of the dishes were only luke warm and underwhelming. The service was very good and friendly. There is a nice courtyard outside for sunny days in Vienna.

Great food and service. Traditional Austrian fare. Has outdoor seating which is Recommend: - cream of asparagus soup, great blend of flavors and creamy texture. The asparagus here is DELICIOUS. -roast pork leg with sauerkraut, horseradish & mustard, hearty and rich. Well balanced with the natural heat of the horseradish and acidity of the sauerkraut. Generous portion of meat.

Lovely and lively “pub” type restaurant as I would say for someone who is from the UK. We were able to sit outside on a beautiful day and we were served quickly. Our meal were delicious and would eat and come here again. It’s got a very nice vibe, and I would highly recommend after visiting the Cathedral.

Well, Griechenbeisl is nice, I like it a lot, good food but not amazing, but for sure is pricey. Staff is very nice, 5 stars for them, also, the restaurant looks pretty nice as well. Service is a bit slow, but usually this restaurant is full of tourists being one of the oldest restaurant in Wien. Here, personalities like Mozart, Beethoven and so on ... had a lunch or dinner. Overall, I like it.

The best pork knuckle dish I have ever tried. I have been restaurant-hopping for good local dishes since i arrived in Vienna, and so far this restaurant is absolutely my favourite. I didn’t know that this is the oldest restaurant in Vienna until I arrived in the restaurant. We made a reservation on the phone a few hours before we arrived, so were immediately seated as soon as we arrived. We ordered pork knuckle, which they call “Crispy Pig leg”, and the portion was so generous that it is enough for two persons (or even for three persons). We loved it. We also enjoyed the side dishes and pickles served together with the pork knuckle. Their service was great. Waiters were polite, attentive and efficient. There was some live music played by two different musicians, and it was interesting. Too bad we were too full to try other dishes or desserts (we are small eaters), but we will definitely come back to try other dishes next time we visit Vienna.

The food was so so — huge portions and very bland. Pretty typical Austrian-German food. The atmosphere was nice w/ the old charm of the inn. The old guy playing Elvis on the lyre was…interesting. Griechenbeisl is the oldest Inn in town and famous folks such as Twain and Mozart visited. Worth a visit but nothing mind blowing wrt to the good.

As we were looking for restaurants to try while our stay in Vienna, this came up as being the oldest restaurant in Vienna, so naturally we made a reservation before we even flew there. We had the absolute most delicious roasted pork leg, a most famous Vienese dish, and I'm so happy we got to try it!

We went here for lunch on Christmas day because they are one of the few places open during the holidays. The service was really good! We were seated as we arrived and served as soon we placed our orders. People are friendly and helpful! I love their pumpkin soup! It’s one of the best soups I have had in a long time. The schnitezel was also very good but a warning - these servings are huge! It can feed the whole village! 🙂 Overall, I liked the whole lunch experience. It is a place worth checking out for sure.

Big surprise for the whole trip in Vienna. Strongly recommend that please go there with your friends ( at least 3) unless you can’t even finish the iconic dish On the other, the upstairs doesn’t have strong wifi connection.

Very historic restaurant located a few minutes walk from St Stephens. Was seated in the hunting room which was quite cosy. Had salmon for starter, schnitzel for main and strudel for dessert. The schnitzel was the highlight, probably the best I had in Vienna, not dry like some places. Service was friendly and not rushed. Would recommend

This is the oldest restaurant in Vienna and consistently exceeds expectations. The food is amazing, the service is very good and it's always a great experience. Book in advance or be prepared to wait in a long line but it's worth it. They also have live music, which adds to the charm!

Delicious Wein Schnitzel. Definitely great value for money. The schnitzel comes with a side of potato salad and jam. I have no reservations and came in past 12nn, but was able to get a table. The staff were all accommodating and polite. The atmosphere is also very relaxing.

Really great food, great service, and so much history in one location! Had the chef recommended pumpkin soup, salmon fillet, and the traditional kaiserschmarrn… all were fantastic! Definitely recommend and will be going back!

We went here on a whim for lunch and ordered the schnitzel to share which was good. The service was quick and the patio was really nice. 4/5 stars since you could probably get the same food at a similar restaurant.

Very good food - we came back again before the end of our visit. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. There was also some live music played (dinner time).

Strongly suggested by Embassy Attaché. My quest for best Wienerschnitzel is over. The accordion and piano music was wonderful for the already warm ambiance... loved everything. Left HUGE tip for wait staff and separately for the musicians. I will be back every trip for sure. Short strol from Hilton Vienna Park.

Sunday brunch after the imperial treasury overload of kingly baubles, royal knick knacks and religious curiosities. After shortwalk towards fischmarkt, found the old inn still serving viennese visitors. Ordered wiener schnitzel-breaded veal-with water cress over potato salad side and pan fried salmon with beet root risotto as mains. Both dishes well executed, delicious and filling. Schnitzel was amazingly not greasy. Dessert was a shared plate of kaiserschmarren, a fluffy shredded pancake with a side of tarty plum compote. Short notice no reservation dining only in the open air section vs the cozy, main dining hall. Reservations during office hours monday to friday!service was friendly and prompt.

The best place to have your first weiner schnitzel! Desserts are a must! Both the apple strudel and Kaiserschmarren are out of this world. Service was outstanding too! There’s so much history here so it’s a charming find!

    - Tried the Wiener Schnitzel. The breading was tremendous, crunchy but not too greasy. The veal was a lean cut and very tasty. - Potato salad was delicious; It had a tangy taste and was an excellent side - They provided bread and butter as you sit down FYI - Excellent and attentive waiter - Overall I was very pleased and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to try Austrian food

I stumbled across this restaurant about 15 years ago while on a business trip. I had no clue about its history at the time. I just liked their food. So much so that I insisted we visit it while on a recent vacation. This place is a must. The service is great, the food incredible and atmosphere amazing.

This was a good restaurant with great service. I had the Beef Goulash, and it was good. The dumplings were more on the dry side (I am accustomed to a more moist dumpling), but they still tasted good. The Goulash overall was a decent dish. Nothing stood out as great or bad. Service was spot on, and eating outside is always a treat.

Traditional Austrian restaurant with very nice atmosphere and with delicate live musician playing. Personnel very polite and friendly, and excellent food. My side, best schnitzel and strudel I have tried in Vienna. Zwiebelrostbraten really tender and tasty.

We sat outside in the little garden area for dinner. I was skeptical about this being one of the best meals of our trip due to it's touristy location, but it was outstanding. The wiener schnitzel was definitely the best we had while in Austria, it was so light and crispy!! The basket of homemade rolls was excellent, the fish was fantastic and we even thought their apple strudel was the best in Vienna. They have a good selection of wine and drinks also. Service was very good, and overall the experience was a wonderful way for us to end our time in Vienna. Highly recommend!!

We were sitting outside. Good service and friendly stuff. The meal was also good. When we sit on the table, was given to us bread basket with spreads (compliment from the restaurant as was told to us). We were surprised that in the check the included also the "complement from the restaurant" (2.5 euro per person) Note that the tip are also included

One of the historical place in Wien. Very impressive. The price were higher than other place. Schnitzel is very good and different. At the point of Asian view, Schnitzel of other restaurants in Wien are similar to asian pork cutlet. But here is definitely different. Other foods are also good.

Such an incredible experience you don't want to miss. Food fit for royalty. The best Wiener schnetzel I have ever had the pleasure to eat. The suppe, the stuffed ravioli, the Sacher torte is the best in the first district by my standards. The wait staff so friendly and spot on with service. A must treat myself restaurant.

We had a great dinner at the restaurant. Such an amazing experienced to see and visit the oldest restaurant in Vienna "1447" The restaurant staff are brilliant so friendly. The food taste delicious. Thank you very much to the person who tour us to the first room of the restaurant and took a photo for remembrance it was truly overwhelming. It was my first time to visit Vienna and I must say the people are very friendly. Photo was taken at the signature room of the restaurant

What can amazing Viennese meal here at Griechenbeisl! They start the meal out with some bread and some unique cheese spread, which was really tasty. My wife and I ordered the beef goulash meal as well as the Wiener schnitzel. Both plates of food were so good and filling! What a great dining experience!

I strongly recommend trying their dessert which is cream with apricot (I forgot the name). This was a boom, I had the least expectation of the sweet (not a sweet tooth though), but this dessert definitely brought me up to heaven. I had no words to explain how delicious it is, just try it and you know what I tried to describe. I made reservation before going; however, it was not too crowded around 4-5 pm so you could have a seat (like me, alone/solo traveler). The service was fast and smooth. Great place for date night!

Decided to try Vienna's oldest restaurant while on vacation here for a few days. Ate a very good two-course meal. Asparagus soup followed by grilled chicken with avocado and salad plus wine, water and two kinds of bread. The menu is predominantly traditional Austrian but I don't eat red meat and wanted a lighter option and was interested to try somewhere that well-established. I skipped dessert but they looked good and I had already eaten some strudel earlier that day. No surprise that the waiters are smarter than most of the customers. Food and service were good and during a long wait for a coffee was offered complimentary Schnapps. To be honest I was not in a rush and happy to soak up the atmosphere. They told me a party of 100 had just arrived hence the slow down. It doesn't look that large either and consists of several interconnected rooms. The decor is as I expected very traditional. Good value as well.

Good schnitzel spot with outdoor seating. We split a schnitzel because they are the size of a basketball (huge) and had the soup for two to start. We were happy that it was traditional Viennese cuisine and it was reasonably priced.

Such delicious meals and the presentation is aesthetically Very pleasing. And the service was amazing friendly and smiles are always There. But the junior servers need to learn how to smile more from their senior colleagues
