The Imperial Cafe, is a sophisticated, resplendent dining experience that stands as a testament to timeless elegance. The cafe is steeped in history, a sentiment echoed by its refined decor, adorned with paintings and photographs that reminisce of its illustrious past and prestigious patrons. The cafe brilliantly captures the essence of royal opulence. Its ambiance, reminiscent of a bygone era, is beautifully complemented by the strains of classical music that fill the room in the afternoon. This gentle melody, twined with the cafe's quiet splendor, creates a magical setting that transcends the ordinary. Beyond the wide variety of beverages, the delectable small snacks offered alongside enrich the dining experience. Whether for a business meeting or a romantic date, the atmosphere is perfect for intimate conversations and meaningful exchanges. However, there's one area where the Imperial Cafe could definitely improve, and that's the staff's approach to hospitality. While not unfriendly, they sometimes come across as less warm than you might expect in such an inviting setting. A little more friendliness and attentiveness could elevate the overall dining experience from great to truly memorable.

Wonderful place to go for excellent coffee and a sweet treat. We went around 2:00 pm, and the staff appeared to change shifts, and we seemed to get forgotten when it came time to pay our bill. Part of the Hotel Imperial.

Went with my wife for dinner. I had roasted fillet of bass, and she had well done angus beef. She said that the beef was so tender that she could cut it with a fork. The bass with truffles was delicious. Each of us had a glass of riesling. The wine had a strong taste and went well with the food. Service was very courteous and prompt. This is an excellent restaurant that exceeds the quality that would be expected for the price one has to pay.

As a devoted dessert lover, Café Imperial Wien is a true hidden gem that never fails to delight my taste buds. Tucked away in the heart of Vienna, this renowned café offers a dining experience that is both elegant and inviting.

It was a bit busy when we went on a Sunday morning and, as we were not hotel guest, we decided to go a la carte instead of the 45€ breakfast buffet. The buffet didn’t look like much special. Instead we opted for 2 cappuccino, eggs with bacon and a danish, eggs Benedict and a (tiny) pot of American coffee. All was delicious, the egg dishes were cooked perfectly, the bacon so thin and crisp, and the cappuccino ok. The eggs Benedict must have been placed under the flame for a minute which melted it into the egg a bit without overcooking the egg. The only downside was that it was difficult to get attention when the danish wasn’t brought, although when he eventually brought it there were three little danishes on the plate instead of one. The decor is lovely but not as old fashioned as I expected. All in all it was a lovely experience, the people watching was great, such lovely outfits on the women.

The cafe can not be described in few words. The only thing I can say is that everything is very delicious and well made and balanced. The atmosphere is amazing with slow music 🎶. I ordered coffee and imperial cake, they are unbelievable and tasty. Highly recommended

Who sells for premium prices has to get a premium review, from someone with over 30 years of experience in the industry: 1. we were not greeted by everyone. The customer greets first and may or may not be greeted back. 2. the menu for non-alcoholic drinks is more extensive at every Dorfwirt. If you want Pepsi and Fanta, imperial is the right place. 3. the waiters are not well trained. There are doubts as to whether they have any training at all in this profession. The cake arrives about 10 minutes before the cocoa, the water glass is popular, unobserved, empty. When it comes to serving the drinks, it is difficult to place them correctly. 4. the container for the cocoa was dirty. That is an absolute NO GO. 5. when paying, tipping is still almost forced upon you. 6. on leaving the restaurant, you are not greeted by every member of staff, whom you look in the eye and politely wish a nice evening. You're more likely to get irritated looks. So greeting is apparently not really an issue here

Fantastic food in an impressive traditional style hotel. Wiener Schnitzel is defitnitely a great choice. So light and full and flavour. Recommend booking first and lunchtime is a good option as not to busy. Evenings tend to be very busy as it's not to far from the Opera House. Great selection of deserts to.

The perfect stop for classy dinner and premium service! In Vienna! We spent there our anniversary before heading off to a nearby classical concert. The Tafelspitz is a MUST try! Just super delicious, 10 out of 10. The dessert choice is super yummy too. I loved the Hazelnut dome!

Beautiful cafe inside a beautiful hotel. Made reservations for breakfast here. They do offer a brunch buffet on Sundays but at £45 per person, we cannot possibly eat that much food for the value. The pastries and the food are mediocre and the server we got that served us initially was a little arrogant. It changed when we got a smiling and pleasant waitress hence, she helped the cafe gain an extra star for her care and attention. I'd go for the historical and beauty of the building but it would be a one time visit. For the price, you'd find better breakfast outlets around Vienna for better quality foods.

Fantastic ambience. A server was very kind and warm. Guided us on what's the best and speciality of the place. Hot chocolate served too fancy, but didnt meet up to the standards. I have definetely tasted better. The apple strudel was warm and delicious.

It is a lovely looking cafe and it impresses with the whole interior but the staff were not really friendly, they didn’t say goodbye nor hello, they barely put the effort to sit us. One of them actually was more polite and friendly. We had cakes and tea and coffee. The coffee and tea were good, but I don’t know if it’s worth the price of 8€ for a tee, the cakes were nothing special, not even delicious, just like average cakes from a supermarket

A real shame, it used to be more stylish. (Original) Müssten lange auf Bedienung warten. Kellner unfreundlich, trotz guten Trinkgeld kam kein Danke. Beautiful restaurant with delicious well priced food - all round stunning dining experience. The staff here are very friendly and accomodated us even though we didn't make a booking. We had dinner here before catching a concert nearby. The Wiener Schnitzel was very delicious here, and the Goulash was outstanding! The pianist played some beautiful jazz music to accompany dinner. Perfect place for a classy night out in Vienna. It is a very formal place but there is no dress code and there will likely be tourists in casual clothing.

We only went for dessert and the cakes were the best I've eaten in Vienna! The walnut and imperial (we had the original) were superb!! The apple strudel wasn't that great and I would eat that elsewhere. This place is very expensive though. The cakes ranged from €8-10 but was worth it for the quality you were getting. Tea and water on the other hand were prices higher than they needed to be. We paid €9 for a big bottle of still water. The building was absolutely stunning as was the cafe itself. It was a feast for the eyes. No vegan dessert options

(Translated by Google) We went to champagne brunch with friends on Sunday. The buffet was good and extensive. Unfortunately we were not made aware that only a glass of champagne is included. The waiters diligently refilled it. Even on half-full glasses. Then almost 200 euros were charged for the few glasses and no goodwill was granted even though they admitted that the error was yours. Something like that leaves a bitter aftertaste and spoils our appetite. It's a shame. Since no one came forward or apologized because of my recession, the rating dropped to 1 star. It was a rip off there ... Sehr schade. The building is certainly worth seeing and has a nice ambience. The prices are unfortunately rather overpriced compared to other well-known coffee houses in Vienna. Vienna's Café Imperial is, unlike the one in Prag, rather small and expensive but nothing special really. It's the minimum you'd expect from a café in a five star hotel. Arthur Schnitzler liked the place once upon a time. Karl Kraus came here once he could no longer go to the Café Central. When the Café Imperial opened, its vicinity to the concert hall of the Vienna Philharmonic, the café has attracted the great names of the musical world.

I have visited the place after 7 months again because the last time the food was amazing although the staff on that time were a bit rude. Before I start I should mention this time the staff were very nice. Obviously different people were serving us the food. We asked for Goulash with rice on the side, but they didn't have any rice which was unacceptable from such a fancy restaurant. We decided to go with Austrian pasta but the food they served us was not Austrian pasta, the dish was totally different from the last time. It was pasta but definitely not Austrian pasta. It was a plate mainly with cooked and uncooked spinach with 6-7 small pieces of pasta. The portion was that small that we went to another restaurant to have a proper dinner. To be fair the dish was tasty but definitely wouldn't worth 20 euro. In summary cafe Imperial is Over priced! Over rated! Wouldn't recommend it and will never visit this place again. Ps. This restaurant was a dead place, except us no guest were there on Thursday night. Very weird!

Eine Top Adresse in Wien, was Cafés angeht.

An elegant, refined coffee house, a place to feel well. All traditional coffee house beverages at their highest level; even their tea is high quality, a rare fact in a coffee-drinking city. The pastries and sweets are perfect, irresistible. Although such an elegant place, service is kind and helpful, making you feel welcome throughout your stay.

Came here solo for breakfast and felt a little weird trying to find someone to seat me (or the big European question of “do I seat myself”). Once seated I was very comfortable. The service is absolutely fantastic and the French toast and Danish pastry were great. It is a cafe in the hotel so it’s very nice, a little fancy but suitable for grabbing a casual bite to eat. Breakfast isn’t THAT expensive, French toast was under 8euro and my coffee was 5 euro but both were great. Not sure how much the dinner is, probably a good deal more. Food tasted fresh! Would gladly come back if I found myself in Vienna (maybe one day I can stay at the hotel).

If you are searching for high end Austrian cuisine in a quiet and luxury place away from mainstream tourism, then have a meal in here. Best WIENER Schnitzel I ever ate and great wines from Austria. Try the „Imperial Torte“ with a sweet Austrian „Eiswein“ or „Beerenauslese“ - it’s really high end ... and a Little Bit expensive, but worth every single cent

The Café Imperial is adjunct to the Hotel Imperial, this famous Viennese Hotel located on the Ring Road and have been awarded several years “best hotel in the world”. The Café Imperial you either approach from the pompous lobby or directly through a separate entry. Either way leads you to this luxurious café full of elegant ambiance of the old days. The Austrian-Hungarian Empire, though 100 years ago, is very sensible here in this café. The waiters give you all the time you need to make your choice and to choose from the menu the dish you like. If you want to relax and take a time out from busy city life, this place is the right place, easy to reach and the waiters give you all the time you need for whatever reason you decided to come to the Café Imperial, may it be reading a variety of newspapers, chatting with friends, working on your device, or simply being in awe while admiring the splendor this café bears. However, we took a Kleiner Brauner coffee, this popular Austrian coffee, together with a “Rehrücken” an Austrian chocolate tart, similar to the Sacher Tart (Sachertorte). Here at the Café Imperial you get a very fine variant version of the “Rehrücken” Chocolate Tart, meaning saucy and fluffy, and as usual with almond sticks adjusted along the top of the chocolate tart. Very delicious! By the way the word “Rehrücken” consists of two German words: “Reh” (deer) and “Rücken” (back). So literally “Rehrücken” means “Deer’s Back”. Figuratively the chocolate tart represents the black (chocolate) back of a deer, and the white almond sticks inserted along the chocolate surface represent the white spots on the deer’s back. From Vienna with Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

We have been waiting for the table in the line but no one informed us about the estimated time of waiting or anything at all - it's a standard in most European restaurants/ cafes. Anyway, a friendly waiter showed us the table after 15 minutes of waiting, we ordered cakes and coffees- very delicious and well balanced, but in our opinion not worth this amount of money (the slices are super small). It is very hot inside the cafe and there's no music in the background. To sum up- I recommend wisiting just once but because of lack of this nice atmosphere, I wouldn't come back.
