I have to admit that the hotpot is really great, even compared with the same types I have enjoyed in China. However, China has so many ways of hotpot, the one here is not too spicy but taste well, the tomato soup is also very fresh, all the materials for the hotpot are really good and with good quality. This is also the”Chinese restaurant “ with so many locals I have ever seen in Europe, they kept the traditional the Chinese way but adapt the taste extremely well, please have a try!

"Mama Liu ..." is definitely worth a visit "..& Sons" in this sense vice versa. As an overall impression or roughly paraphrased, I would describe it as: "European-oriented continental exclusive fusion cuisine with an Asian touch. And a noticeably high proportion of fresh coriander". I came for the hot pot and I got hot pots. The whole concept is very coherent and the service was excellent, everyone at the table was asked unobtrusively whether they needed or wanted help. "A short introduction" to the intended order of the ingredients - the average cooking time - and the special hot pot tools that are brought to the table are available for everyone and without being asked. The seafood was fresh and alive. I tried the curry coconut soup and the (really spicy) Ma La soup. . as a type 1 diabetic I can say to all diabetics "You can eat these hot pots"

Amazing hot pot place. We come here once a year all the way from Slovakia. If you don’t like hot pot, you have many other choices. Dumplings are super tasty. Staff is very nice but make sure you have a reservation in advance

Great restaurant and really good food. We were two and shared the mix dim sum and a beef broth hot pot. Both were delicious. The hot pot comes with instructions so it's easy to Handel. It's written all over in and out the restaurant, but if you are coming from far away make sure to bring cash with you, as the payment is with cash only. Really recommended if you like dim sun and hot pot

Great food, eggplant salad, dim sum and coconut mochi with sesame. Mochi was so nicely warm and soft, yummy. Cash only what is unusual.

Spicy hot pot is the spiciest thing I ever had, but it was a very good experience and food! Very fresh clean and tasty. Dim sums were the best ones I ever had.

Mama Liu’s is a great place to go to when you have a big group. Book one of the big square tables they have and ask them to cover the table with food. Dim Sum starters and then Chinese Hot Pot. I don’t think you can find a better place for Hot Pot in Vienna. Great intimate atmosphere, as it is still a family business. Always full, so make sure you reserve a table and go!

I will definitely come back again! Great place for dim sum and hotpot. We had the Mama Liu's recipe beef broth and a variety of Dim Sum and other starters that were all delicious. They also have a nice selection of drinks to go with. Service was good and fast and the atmosphere of the place was great too. For some of us it was our first time eating hot pot, but they provide you with instructions on how to do it and help you through the process 😁. It would be a 10/10 if not for the fact that they only accept cash payments (hence only 4 ⭐s).

Important: bring cash! You cannot pay in any other way. (But just in case you're already outside without any cash, go down the street to the Nachmarkt and there's an ATM.) Pretty big place - you can find seats outside on the street, but also few tables next to open balcony door (Love it. You're still inside but you're also "on the street" and can be impressed by the architecture and street life around.) The interior and dark lamps make it pretty romantic place and perfect for an evening outside. There were also 2 big tables for bigger groups - I would definitely come back with a group. We came for a hot pot, only 90min before closing, but the staff was really friendly. The dumplings really felt homemade, and we enjoyed them. It was our first time trying hot pot, and we would like to try it again. It was a nice experience and we also got an instruction "how to hot pot", so if somebody else is a newbie, it's a good place to give it a go.

Fantastic Chinese cuisine experience! I was initially skeptical coming from California, but I was delightfully surprised by the creative flavors, plus the fresh ingredients. The portion is similar to tapas - good for sharing between 2 people. Everything we ordered was excellent. Note: the flavors are more like Chinese fine dining rather than a hole-in-a-wall authenticity. Both are great in their own way. 2 of us came at 6pm on Saturday without a reservation but were lucky to be seated right away. most tables were already reserved except for one communal table, and many large groups so you should try to reserve ahead. The price is a bit on a steeper side. We ordered 7 dishes, a cocktail and a tea. Total was around €60

I’ve had a lot of hot pot and this was the bomb. The beef stock was perfect and shrimp and chive dumplings were the best I’ve ever had.

The food was amazing. I had the hot pot with chicken breast and the chili soup. Good music and nice waiters. Only remarks are that the waitera could have been a bit more enthusiastic. Would definitely come back, true flavors of Asia, I miss those!

Possibly the single most inauthentic “Chinese” meal I have ever had. Wrong ingredients, wrong sizes, wrong names, and *everything* is far far too sweet. Given that there are actually good Chinese options within 500m it’s amazing anyone goes here.

It's a great restaurant I came across on a trip to Vienna. In a quiet alley, when I open the door and go through the blackout curtains, I feel as if I'm in a different world. Hot pot with lamb is full of flavor. The male employee first asked if he needed more chilies, saying that the mala broth may not be spicy. It was a perfect dinner!

Intersting experience, tasty food. Table reservation is required.

Hotpot is great, curry with meat was our choice. I did not like dumplings that much. We have had fried and I would prefer them more fried than they were. Also be aware, they only take cash, but it is on their website and on doors too. :)

The place's atmosphere is fine but the service is not the best. The staff are constantly trying to throw you out even if there is no one waiting. The food is quite pricey but the price and quality does not really match. Moreover, it is one of those cash only places in Vienna. We went there as a friend insisted, otherwise one somehow experienced with food places can easily say from outside that this is not a place to spend a joyful night. About the prices, you should easily spend around 40 euros for a portion that suffices one person.

I recently tried a Chinese restaurant after hearing many recommendations, but I was a bit disappointed. The hotpot was bland and seemed to lack flavor. The dim sum dishes didn't have any standout qualities either.

This used to be a great restaurant. Original concept, authentic flavours, etc. But we came back and were quite disappointed. Some of the starters are still very good (e.g. prawns) others are a total joke (ribs, chicken, etc). The hot pots used to be amazing. Now the soup portions are smaller and most of the raw ingredients they give you to put in are obviously frozen. Definitely not worth 27 euros. I also don't appreciate paying 1.5 euros for tap water. Be warned.

Mama Liu & Sons is one of my favourite restaurants in Vienna. The food is delicious! I would recommend hotpot with curry-coconut soup and beef. The meat is always fresh and of great quality. As for the drinks, the non-alcoholic Ginger Mule is a must try. The staff is very professional and nice. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. I can only recommend Mama Liu & Sons, it is always great!

Had some really good dumplings here! 🥟 The Chinese hotpot with meat was great too! The prices are on the expensive side tho!

Great food and very nice staff. The portions are rather small and supposed to be mixed and shared. I like the concept but still the individual portions are a bit pricy. Nevertheless I'd certainly go there again.

Overall nice to try, but can't recommend - You can't pay with card. - You can't mix different types of meat (only what's in card) - Service is slow - There is only small beer - Theirs home beer was missing - The pot is relatively high and if you are small person you will have hard time to reach your food without scalding your arm - small portion per person + Fresh ingredients + Tasty bouillon

**CASH ONLY*** One of the very few restaurants in which i come with pleasure again and again! The selection of hot pot soups is enough to satisfy even the pickiest. From bland to spicy, your choice is there. Meat options are also varieted; but the vegetables are the „unspoken star“ of this hot pot. Coupled with the curry soup, they are phenomenal! As i mentioned above, too bad they have cash payment only

Wow wow wow so good!!! Filling and delicious. We got the seafood hot pot with the curry coconut broth (this was the most DELICIOUS broth I’ve ever had!) and the beef hot pot with the beef broth - also super tasty. HIGHLY highly highly recommend. Expensive but worth it for the very high quality and large portions Also the cocktails are wonderful - the rosemary thyme and the Lillet cocktails wonderfully made.

Hot pot & fun. Although appetizer and a main course was reversed ☺️

delicious hot pot. i had hot pot for the very first time here and can only recommend it. you get so much food, it’s almost difficult to finish it. i went for the tomato broth while my friend had the coconut one. both were extremely delicious! we both had the meat plate and i was extremely satisfied to see that they also add rice cakes to the plate :) the dipping sauce is also delicious! i really want to come back here again soon, everything was perfect!

Simply DELICIOUS!!! I highly recommend this restaurant. The food was mouthwatering and well presented. I even forgot to take some pictures, that’s how much I wanted to enjoy every bite of my meal 😄 We had Bao Zi, Jiu Cai Jiao, Chicken Rice Bowl, Erdnussbälchen & Peanut Cheesecake (see the picture 🤤) Everything was perfect and we are looking forward to our next trip to Vienna to taste some other dishes in the menu 😍

Great food, great restaurant, hence the 3 stars. However the experience was ruined by the "only cash" policy as well as orders forgotten by the waiters. There is an ATM outside right in the front of the restaurant which charges a fee of 3.50 EUR to withdrawals made with foreign bank cards.
