Boiled beef (tafelspitz) is excellent. The horse. The hash brown is equally good. Pro tip: ask the wait staff to explain how it is eaten if this is your first time.

Super tasty food. We ordered “roast beef” and “ beef goulash” and both meals were excellent. Also, we ordered “tafelspitz” which is a traditional Austrian dish and it was also good. Nice staff as well.

Went to try real Wien Schnitzel. It was good, but it wasn't that amazing to be fair. I actually tasted better in other European countries. Place seems to be busy at times.

Very busy place for traditional Viennese food. You will not be able to get in unless you make a reservation in advance. Not ordered but will be served and charged for bread, butter and spread Ordered - Tafelspitz Beef Aspic - refreshing, well balanced dish Plachuta’s Beef Broth - delicious Wild Garlic Foam Soup - garlicky Wiener Schnitzel - not dry but overrated Potato Salad - need this to cut the richness of the schnitzel Green Salad Kaiserschmarrn - yummy Mango Sorbet - a little gummy, not as refreshing as hoped to be Pricy place, good service but waiter expects to be tipped and will ask for it.

Our dining experience at this restaurant was fantastic, offering what is arguably one of Vienna's finest Schnitzels. Both the cuisine and service were exceptional. It's advisable to book a table in advance. I strongly recommend it.

Wonderful place. Great service. The food was delicious. I loved the assorted bread basket with the buttercream on the side. Plates were big enough. One of the best schnitzel in Vienna. Will definitely go again.

Great Viennese restaurant with traditional local food in the heart of the city! Mainly attracting tourists but with quality ingredients, delicious food. In good weather you should sit at nice terrace. I recommend to book a table in advance as the place is popular. Card is accepted. Underground parking is available within few minutes walk at the Opera.

Think you can be in Vienna and not try the authentic Wiener Schnitzel? Think again! Absolute PERFECTION: Pounded into tenderness, battered, and fried to a golden magnificence. You also get a mini brochure with the info: Found out that a true Wiener schnitzel is the only schnitzel made with veal and is protected as such under Austrian law. We sat outside and loved every second of the experience. Definitely recommend.

Went here on a recommendation from someone who visits often and enjoys a more traditional Vienese experience - was definitely pleased that I did! On my neverending quest to eat anything BUT the schnitzel whenever I'm in Vienna, discovering the tafelspitz was the kind of revelation I needed. It may just be my new cold season favourite - shame I tried it first in July, but I'll take it. Amazing beef broth with meat and veggies to match, the fresh bread rolls were to die for and the overall experience of serving your own meal (it does come with instructions!) was great. Beware, however, that even the portion for one is enormous! My travel companion had the schnitzel with potato salad and was extremely pleased as well. The place itself has that "we've been here a while and we're really great at this" vibe, with immaculate tables and very attentive staff. For sure one of my new favourites in Vienna!

This place offers a great experience. The service is good and the atmosphere very nice. The food was good but nothing that you can't find at a cheaper price. It's overpriced for no reason. Just because something is traditional it doesn't have to be 30€. But that's the truth about every Viennese restaurant. We paid 80€ for 2 people. (60€ only for the two plates that you can see in the pictures).

It was a nice experience. We went here on recommendation and enjoyed the nice outdoor area. The Veal Schnitzel was only ok, the deep friend chicken was better (in the photos). We found the field potato salad a bit underwhelming, little flavour and a bit odd in texture. The waiter was friendly, although we did get served the wrong wine and then wine that tasted like water, before we eventually got the correct wine, which was nice. It also was overpriced for what it was. All in all, it was nice, but wouldn’t likely go back.

One of the well known Restaurants in Vienna… signature dishes are -)Weiner Schnitzel -) Boiled Beef. My order: Pumpkin Soup: creamy and was the right soup for cold weather. 7.5/10 Weiner Schnitzel: tasty tender veal that comes with a cherry sauce on the side . 9/10 Drinks ginger ale Traditional cold potato salad: 7/10 A reservation is a must especially in the weekend. Is a busy place likes the traditional vibe. Service was slow had to wait for 20mins to get my main dish🤨. No apology was received or the reason for the delay. But over all they got good traditional Austrian dishes for those who would like to try it. Yes I would come again … prices kinda of high.

Came here after seeing an Opera, so it was quite late...close to 10 pm. The service was outstanding and the waitstaff was very friendly and personable. I ordered the steak with peppercorn sauce, which was perfectly cooked to order (medium rare) and the sauce was rich and tasty. Very much enjoyed my dinner, and the price was very reasonable.

The best Tafelspitz in Vienna ❤️ Wiener Schnitzel is ok. Potatoes salad is too sour for my liking. Beef tartar is very yummy.

Eierschwammerl Goulash : mushroom goulash delicious !!! KAISERSCHMARREN : top dessert : better to be ordered as you arrive since it takes a while to eat it fresh . The Schnitzel was also good . Very good service and nice atmosphere, great for lunchtime

Very solid experience here for traditional Viennese cuisine (schnitzel, Tafelspitz and goulash). I would recommend and we would return.

Plachutta next to the opera is the better plachutta, this is controversial and I know that, but something about it just makes it more cozy. Many people say how good the schnitzel is or how great the desserts are, I think there are better places for those items in Vienna. For me, the reason to go to Plachutta is for the tafelspitz, and no one does it as well as Plachutta. It's a whole process, it's an experience and it undeniably delicious and unique. For those that don't understand why you would pay 70 euros for "soup" have never had tafelspitz here. Yes, the service can be slow. The service can also be amazing. Sometimes it's raining, sometimes it's not. But the tafelspitz is and always will be incredible. You cannot miss this experience. 10/10 as it has been since the first time I came here as a kid.

We had Beef Carpaccio as starters, Tafelspitz and Roast Pork as the main dishes and panna cotta as dessert. Everything was delicious. Even the bread basket 👍🏻

The best restaurant and service in the whole of Vienna. Just incredible, service also great, please tip at least 5-10%, servers are very friendly and helping, plus very good English as well

The food was amazing. We obviously had to try their schnitzel and the portion was so big that we shared. Definitely worth a try.

The singular vegetarian option was great! Finding satisfying vegetarian meals can be a challenge, but at this place, I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Viennese cabbage pasta with lettuce. The portion size was more than sufficient. Their salads were very truly exquisite. I do not eat meat but was told by a local who has lived here 20+ years that this place has the single best Wiener Schnitzel in town.

Great place for traditional Austrian cuisine. Was recommended this restaurant (and their beef broth) by a friend who visited before and it did not disappoint. Had the Weiner Schnitzel as well and it was delicious. Service was also excellent. Will definitely come by again if I am in Vienna.

The waitstaff were very kind and professional. We ordered 2 portions of the boiled beef and it was enough for four. This is one of the local specialties and a must-try dish when in Vienna. We couldn’t finish our shnitzel but it was great too.

Absolutely amazing! The food was to die for (especially the schnitzel), and the atmosphere was extremely intimate. Our waiters were efficient and well mannered. For the quality you get, the price is great, especially as you are right off the Opera House! Pictured: beef carpaccio, veal liver with rice (crazy good) and of course the schnitzel.

Travelling to Vienna means: Once in a lifetime eating Wiener Schnitzel! But also other dishes are highly recommended. Bread is always served as a starter. This place is close to the Opernhaus and provides a great authentic scene to have some lunch or dinner. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

One of the best places to eat in Vienna. Super tasty old fashioned proper food served in old fashioned proper way. I've been here several times always with excellent food and service. Dropped in without reservation and were immediately seated. No fuss. Great place just time your visit outside opera hours.

this place is 5 stars and was my favorite restaurant in my visit to Vienna. Schnitzel is amazing but also the soup , salades deserts. everything and service is great !

Great restaurant: despite being crowded with a constant flow of customers the indoor and outdoor spaces were both immaculate and service was courteous. Menu is based on traditional Austrian comfort food, including the ubiquitous Wiener Schnitzel, and reasonably priced. Staff guessed that we were tourists and gave us English menus before we even asked which was a nice touch. Recommended!

Authentic and mondern austrian restaurant. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very good, quiet. The service is really good, the waiters are really polite and speak good english. The food is excellent, we had the goose liver crème brule which had a really good balance of sweet and savory, the caramellized sugar on top gave it a nice crunch in the otherwise creamy texture. For main dish we had the schnitzel with potato salad, it was made with a really tender veal (most restaurant make it from pork or chicken), the salad was just sour enough to balance the schnitzle. And we also had the beef roast with fried onions and mashes potato, the beef was really tender and served cooked perfectly to medium. Overall, it is a must visit restaurant in Vienna for travellers looking for austrian cuisine.

Absolutely wonderful! Highly recommend this for a taste of the local cuisine. The staff were as incredible as the food and the atmosphere. This is how you do give star service!!!

O my gosh. This is the best potato salad in my life. Dont miss this place near the Opera. A little tip: only ask just for tap_water (cause water in Vienna is the cleanest in the world), overwise they will brink u the same water for 7 euro 🙄 just in glass bottle.

Best meal I had in Vienna. You must have the tafelspitz with all the additions. Also, my favorite Weiner Schnitzel in Vienna (I tried quite a few).

Really great wiener schnitzel!! A very good staff service and atmosphere - a bit pricey

We try this local for dinner to try the typical Wiener Schnitzel.🍖🍺 The place is good with various tables (they are not that big) and the personal is nice. The food is good even if there is not that much choice, a bit pricy. ⛔️But the real thing that turn us down is that without asking it they bring to us 4 pices of bread with a little cup of sause an butter and they charge us an addictional 4,5€ for person for that.... ⚠️So the place is recommended to try the Wiener Schnitzel and the potato salad but be aware on the addictional things that in the end you will pay more money without wanting or asking it.

It’s absolutely a must to be in a gorgeous restaurant like this. Schnitzel is really good, stewed beef and pork roast is delicious, it’s all about austrian authentic dishes, 5 stars for service and view. I’m really pleasant.

I ate the most delicious thing I have ever eaten in my life here. Schnitzel deserves 10 out of 10. Prices are a little high but worth it.

Beef broth in copper pot is a must if you haven’t try it before. Wiener schnitzel was crispy and tender. Great service and nice outdoor dining area. Enjoyed my dinner

  • 5/5 David G. 1 year ago on Google
Suggested by a local as a great place for dinner before the opera. The Wiener Schnitzel is terrific, and do add the potato salad as suggested. My friends split the boiled beef, which was also very tasty. We had bottle of a local Cab with dinner that was a great touch. Wonderful service. Eat outside if you can!

Superb! Booked seats in advance for Dec 30 lunch (super popular so make sure you book ahead!) The best tafelspitz (boiled beef)! Its portion is large enough for 2 people! Service was good in Vienna standard 😆
