I was swayed by the mushroom 🍄 risotto on the menu and decided to pay Vapiano a visit. I am a big risotto lover, and discovered recently an amazing risotto at a large competitor in the second district so my expectations were quite high. Vapiano has got a different system of ordering than most restaurants. You receive a card upon entry (make sure you get it) and get any food you'd like at a counter of your liking, be it pasta, salad, pizza,.. the chef is going to prepare your food in front you, which I find very cool, though you're wasting your time a bit because you have to wait right there for the food instead of chatting your time away with a friend at the table. Naturally, as the restaurant gets busy, queues form in front of these counters. After you receive your food, you tap your Vapiano card and what you have ordered is going to be uploaded to it. You take your dish to a table and you can dig right in. The risotto I ordered was cool to watch being prepared, though I was disappointed by its taste. It had a nice Italian risotto consistency but tasted a bit bland, too much like cream. I was missing the explosive delicious flavour with a touch of white wine a lot of Italian risottos have. And so I rate the risotto as OK. The portion was also not as big, I had a feeling the pasta portions were larger + the price was quite high, 12.5 EUR. The place has got a nice atmosphere though with music playing at a comfortable level. Overall, Vapiano is not a bad choice if you're into Italian cuisine and you're in the area, though I believe there are better places around.

I love sitting here on the terrace in summer! ✨🥰 taking quinoa salad and pizza margarita - they are very fresh and nice here 🫶🏻 Pasta is not for me, too strong grain taste somehow

A star lost because it took a bit of effort to ask the two cooks if the lobster sauce had milk/dairy content... eventually, it was established that it did, so went for tomato sauce as base. The beef'n'reef pasta is otherwise delicious. Did require spicing up a bit. Reasonably quick service.

Nicely done Italian food for a 'chain' restaurant. Really like the ordering system. Having different stations for different types of food is an excellent way to speed things up. Both the pizza and pasta were ordered were ready within 15 minutes. Taste for both was good. Our only complaint was the noise level. It was difficult to hear each other, but it was crowded at 7pm.

Food was excellent, I had the prawn bruchetta & spaghetti carbonara, and my friends had the spaghetti bolognese & pesto penne. Even though the carbonara recipe was not the original one & it contained cream, the pasta was still very tasty and filling, they have relatively big portions - really fit for tourists after a full day of sightseeing around Vienna! The bruschetta was also very nice, I enjoyed especially the ciabatta bread. I also ate at Vapiano a few years ago in Eindhoven & it stayed with me ever since! Also the self service is interesting and efficient. Will definitely eat here again if I get the chance!

Quite long time of waiting, despite short queues. Worth waiting as every dish is prepared fresh in front of guest. Good taste. Service a bit bored but kind.

Unfortunately we will not come back here. The food itself is good, really. But the whole system just doesn’t work for us: waiting sometimes over 30 minutes in the queue just to get two meals, and don‘t get me started when you come with more than two people wanting different things than just pasta. When I want to eat, I want to sit down and wait there until someone gets it for me. No idea why this system is still in place while in cities like Berlin it already changed to the traditional one. I cannot imagine that the cooks here enjoy it either. Really cannot recommend coming here until something has changed about the entire system.

Dishes are very delicious 😋 There is a live kitchen, chefs 👨‍🍳 prepare food infront of us with all the ingredients we require. Chefs are very friendly and explained the dishes well when in doubt They have different types of pizza and spaghetti 🍝 Payment has to be done after the dish is prepared and based on ingredients we chose. Self service and there is a sitting outside too. No parking as this restaurant based in city center.

The staff was as lost as it gets! they had a Happy Hour deal on the spritzer cocktails buy one get one free, but the staff added two drinks on our bill. The crostinis as the sign shows should be ordered at the bar but again the staff were clueless both at the bar and the antipasti section. All in all took me a good 30 min to get my apperetivo drink and a snack.

I recently dined at Vapiano in Vienna and had the pleasure of trying their penne pasta with shrimp and spinach. It was absolutely delicious! The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the ingredients tasted fresh. The atmosphere was inviting, and the staff was attentive. I highly recommend trying this dish if you visit Vapiano in Vienna.

When you have no idea what to eat in the European cities, Valpiano is always the safe choice to dine in!

Workers do not know English well enough to take orders! They keep making mistakes in the orders and roll their eyes non-stop. You will found out the real cost of your dish only after your dish is ready. We left the 20€ savory dish after 2 bites. Not recommended.

One of the highlights of dining at Vapiano is their made-to-order concept. As you walk through the different food stations, you have the opportunity to interact with the chefs directly. You can choose your pasta type, sauce, and toppings, allowing you to create a personalized pasta dish tailored to your preferences. This interactive experience not only adds a sense of fun but also ensures that each dish is prepared exactly as you desire.

Decent menu and the food is decent. The main problem I see with this place however is the service and the ordering process. You have to wait in long queues to get your food. The lines are usually long and you have to wait more than 15m go get your food while standing in a queue. Also if you want to get appetizers or pizza, then you have to go stand in another queue. So if you're going with friends, you often get your food at different times. It's really frustrating and I would much rather have proper service at the table.

Delicious fresh pastas, pizzas and a range of drinks, salads and appetisers. Oder your meal at the corresponding counter using a card that you get on arrival. English and German menus available.

The order was given quickly, but the pizza was terrible, it all broke apart, the dough dissolved in the sauce, the bottom of the pizza was with pieces of burning, there was always a smell of food and burnt in the hall. Not nice.

Convenient find by hotel with self service approach to food which is freshly cooked. Ate a capriciosa pizza and arrabiata pasta which you order first, eat and then pay for . The food is tasty ,venue busy with a mix of tourists, locals, families and people of all ages. If you are after nice food , are on the go, looking for something informal and fresh food which won't cost the earth.... Worth popping by... Seating in basement and 1st floor too...

Very, very friendly people working there! As Italians, my parents and I appreciated it. We also liked the way it's organized and managed. The pizzas could be improved (a little help: thinner and with a pinch more of salt, but mostly thinner in the center part) but the quinoa salad was very good.

I ordered pasta and coke for a total of 14 euros. The pasta had overpowering garlic and chilli, lacked salt and was given like a lump because it was overcooked. Totally not worth it.

A very good place to have Italian cuisine made in front of you, literally. It is a self-serviced restaurant, everything is cooked before you and the flavors are exquisite.

The branch's location in District 1's Herrengasse is lovely. Both the pizza and the spaghetti we had were acceptable.

Excellent quality food at an affordable price. Friendly staff, especially Martin (who I assume was the manager) who made us feel very comfortable and welcomed during our visit. Thank you Abdulghani for making our delicious pastas right in front of us and catered to our taste! Would highly recommend this restaurant.
