Nestled in a small alley way , this is the oldest schnitzel restaurant in Vienna. The restaurant is not very big so reservation are good but not necessary. We walked up and registered for the next available table and had to wait only 10 minutes. It is a must see and visit while on Vienna. The schnitzel is so good!!! The best! Potato salad too, so delicious! The portions are big, we shared two schnitzels between the four of us. And it was enough lol! Highly recommend this restaurant! And we will definitely be back! Staff is very friendly and cheerful. This is a wine house, no beer available!

Always a great adventure. The food here is very good. Super sized Schnitzel. Service was good. We were lucky to be seated right away. Normally there would be a long line to get in, so always great to make a reservation if possible. Enjoyed the visit. Cozy atmosphere.

Touristic yet tasty schnitzel old school style. It's bigger than the plate itself. must be. No beer, just wine in here. The pork Schnitzel is thin and nicely breaded. With lemon and some fried potatoes, it's really good.

Food was decent and the portions were large enough. The service was a bit low level with somewhat rude waiters. We sat next to the door and after asking to change table because i was feeling a bit sick they refused.

Enjoyed the classic Wiener schnitzel and potato salad from Figlmüller, which has been around since 1905. Also tried the lentil stew, which I found warm and comforting, although it was on the salty side. Overall, it was a delicious lunch with excellent service. It's best to call and reserve a table as walk-ins are rarely accommodated. We were just lucky that a table for two was available for an hour when we arrived.

I had lunch there with no reservation and took signature schnitzel with potato salad. Everything was very good. Top. Professional and friendly waiters. Wine spritz was refreshing and good. Thank You for professionalism. definitely I am coming back. Keep doing great job

The schnitzel of course is big and tasty. Don't forget to order the potato salad, it is superb. There are also good options if you are not fond of schnitzel, like the Viennese boiled beef in the pot. Very good professional service. There was only place for those who had upfront reservations.

Tried just once so far, but it was an amazing experience. Nice, professional and friendly staff but the highlight were the best Wiener schnitzels in the city. Juicy inside and crispy outside. This restaurant has to be on your bucket list for sure.

There are two Figlmüller locations close to each other. My review is about the one at Wollzeile. This place has a nicer, retro-style interior but has no veal option for the schnitzel. Yes, it is very confusing! Two places close by, sharing the same name have different menus and nobody tells you that unless you specifically ask. So if you want pork schnitzel you have to ask for it otherwise you will get an oversized chicken nugget ( that is how my schnitzel tasted). The schnitzel is huge and it costs €19.90 ( the veal option, served at another location would cost you €24.90) Potato salad is extra €6.80, but it is actually pretty good. The veal goulash (€19.50) was also good, which earned this place 4 stars for the food. If you wish to visit this place reservation is highly recommended otherwise you may end up at the second location which accepts walk-ins.

There will be continuing debate as to which Schnitzel is the best. This place however is a Vienna Icon and provider of a very good breaded slab of veal.. They are also very large! These Schnitzel really are the size of a plate. I would suggest unless you are really hungry or a big eater - buy one between two and get some side to share. There is often a waiting line here - best to make a reservation. They do have a larger restaurant that is basically the same menu just around the corner - but it does not have the atmosphere of this back alley quirky space. The service is good, they can seem a bit short with people when they are busy and have no room. The number of people who would not take no for an answer really surprised me and no wonder they were getting a little short with people. We found the waiter to be helpful - and the meal was very good, a little expensive - but a worthy Venetian experience. We ordered too much and they even bought out paper to wrap the leftover schnitzel in and a bag to carry it home.

If you’re looking for the best schnitzel in Vienna, this is the place! This restaurant, Figlmüller, is in a small alley and has a very traditional Austrian/Alpine design. They have a second restaurant just around the corner, but we prefer this location. Be sure to make reservations or you will not get a table. Also, they are a wine house, so they don’t serve beer. Highly recommend!

This was recommended by a friend who used to live in Vienna. We did not have a reservation, but we got there right as they opened and were able to get a table. The servers mentioned that they were completely booked after 1230 and that some folks had made reservations up to 4 months prior. Lesson learned. Make a reservation if you can!! We had to try the schnitzel and the potato salad-both SO very good!! There is a small portion of the schnitzel that is still as big as your head!! I couldn't finish mine, but it was really good! Their potato salad is also worth a try! Deliciousness all around!! The servers wear tuxedos, but you can dress casual for lunch. It was very fun to see them operate!! The raspberry soda was also very good!! Also, there are two locations, so make sure you try the second one if you can't get into the first!! They are around the block from each other...it's very interesting but worth going!!!

Amazing place to experience Wiener Schnitzel. Potato salad was also great served with a delicious sauce. There is a good variety of wine. You need to have a reservation to be able to enjoy all these! You can check their website for the menu, prices and reservations.

It is important to make a reservation because it is very busy. I called an hour before and they made an effort to find me a place. The restaurant is lovely. You can feel the tradition. The service is excellent. The food is tasty but not exceptional. The schnitzel is very large (a plate is enough for two). The goulash arrived in a small portion. No desserts. Please note that there are different menus in both branches of the restaurant.

A warm and old place that transposes you in 1910-1930 Vienna. The original arrangements of the restaurant are very well conserved. The service was good, nothing special. The 5 stars is especially for the food! We had traditional/porc and chicken schnitzel with “the famous” potato salad, which was really delicious! The schnitzel was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside, the salad was really something special! You definitely need a reservation if you want to eat here.

Long wait for lunch about 30 min, but heard that dinner wait is about 2 hours. Food is lovely. Schnitzel is bigger than plate so awesome. Potato salad is yum. Goulash is so so good!

Even that I had to wait around 20 minutes, as usual, to get seated was totally worth it. I had a really pleasant experience during my dinner here and I would definitely come again. The potato salad was absolutely delicious and about the schnitzel, I could say that was perfect... Like not too big, not too thick, no too thin, not too dry just really tasty and tender. I'm definitely recommending this restaurant for one of the best schnitzels in town.

We went for dinner. It was a full restaurant and reservations only. But service was good and fairly quick. My husband and I split one of the pork schnitzels since they're so big and we each got a side. I got the parsley potatoes and he had the potato salad. Our son ordered the goulash with spatzel. Everything was very good.

Amazing atmosphere, very kind service. Everything we tasted was really delicious. My least favorite dish was the marinated chicken but was not that bad. The marmelades were pretty good!

This 5 stars is for beef tartar, friendly waiter. Although I came for the most famous schnitzel, my favorite dish was this marinade beef tartar. I usually do my research before I go to the resultant, so I make sure I will get their best dish. However, I ordered this beef tartar without seeing review about it, it turned out to be my best beef tartar I’ve tried in my life. I never took so much time to enjoy a starter, every bite was a wonderful surprise, i carefully tasted it in my mouth, it was truly delicious and delicate. It was well seasoned, such a beautiful perfect plating. The schnitzel was not bad, the one I order was the pork schnitzel, generous big piece, thin layer of crust. it’s good for 2-3 people sharing if you like to share food and try different dishes at the same time. The potato salad is one of their specialty too, I love the potato is perfectly cooked through.

A nice restaurant with good Austrian food. The service is definitely not reaching a good level... Tipping in Austria is NOT mandatory while the waiter mentioned it was 7-10%. For your information, the Schnitzel is sufficient, no need to ask extras. There are not doing hot drink such as coffee.

You gotta get the schnitzel. But it is massive—a bit larger than the plate it is served on. It’s a good idea to just order 1 or 2 for the table to share.

In a word, it is magnificent. You need to make a reservation well in advance. We couldn't find a reservation and after waiting at the door for half an hour, we were let in. Schnitzel was very delicious. I also really liked the sauce of the potato salad. I definitely recommend you to go and try it.

Still mind blown 🤯 after 3 weeks! Every time I come to Vienna this place is a must! Reservation is definitely recommended. Prices might seem high at a first glance but after a bite of that mind boggling schnitzel you are definitely satisfied! Service is amazing and fast! We had a great experience with Herr Reinhardt, a nice guy with great knowledge of his job! Don’t miss this place

We enjoyed our time here 😍 Amazing pork schnitzel and really big portion. I couldn’t eat the whole schnitzel, so my husband was nice to help 😅😍 We also ordered the potatoes salad & roasted potatoes which was delicious too. Also if you come in October you should try the fermented wine, you can ask to taste it first & then if you like it order a drink. I enjoyed the grape juice too, really sweet & refreshing. A reservation in advance it’s necessary if you don’t want to wait in line for a free table.

A true schnitzel experience. I would recommend to book your table for the evening before you visit because the restaurant is always full and the line outside is always long. Otherwise we had schnitzel, potato salad and roasted potatoes. The roasted potatoes we’re not so good but the schnitzel was top notch.

Everything was perfect. We reserved a table for 19:30 and we were seated at 19:30 (Its mandatory to reserve before going!). Our waiter Reinhard was very friendly and helpful. We were able to order in English. The food was well priced and very tasty. Unfortunately they only had small shots and wine as alchohol but it was just as tasty. The place was astonishing.

We were looking to have original Vienna schnitzel and followed recommendations, but it was a little bit disappointing. The service is very cold and not really welcoming, original schnitzel was not crispy enough and was too salty. Roasted potato was really strange, more like destroyed potato pancakes. Salat was also strange with sweet dressing, fir ketchup and mayonnaise they charge 1.2 euro per each, which is crazy. The only dish that was nice is cordon blue schnitzel, although there not too much hum inside. In my opinion, the place is not worth a visit.

One of the most delicious schnitzel that I have ever tastesd. Also there is a huge line to get in, but the place is cozy and nice and the food is so good that it is totally worth it. Just remember to order the potato salad with your schnitzel. Their wine is also good

They say that this is a place to be in Vienna. If your eyes are bigger than your stomach, then this restaurant will satisfy you. Overall, a very typical and nice ambiance, with traditional food.

Vienna, Figlmüller: Wiener Schnitzel has been fried here for 110 years! a few steps from the Cathedral of Santo Stefano. The place is obviously touristy, but celebrates the typical recipes of Viennese cuisine, well-prepared dishes served with courtesy and professionalism, the fried foods are well done and at the end of the meal, they do not disturb your digestion at all. Without a reservation it is difficult to find a table. Away from a tourist trap, it's an iconic Vienna landmark, and a meal at Figlmüller is a must if you want a slice of the Viennese experience.

DELIVERS ON THE PROMISE - great schnitzel bigger than the plate. This place is very popular so be sure to make a reservation in advance- almost everyone gets turned away for walk ins. We did manage to convince them to give us a table the following night (a bit of friendly persistence was required). I notice some walk-ins but they were being seated on combined tables. The food was simple but great. The schnitzel is made of pork and is famously bigger than the plate. My wife and daughter had the chicken schnitzel which was also nice and tasty. We also got a mixed salad - NOTE by mixed they mean it is a sample do all the salads. I’d recommend to pick one of the specific salads to order instead. The atmosphere is very cosy and authentic and a real buzz.

Lovely place, even though it was a bit cramped. Schnitzel was delicious. Other meals too. Portions are big and heavy, keep that in mind. Waiter was very polite and helpful, he recommended me a good red wine.

I’ve been in so many restaurants in Austria, but this one was by far one of my best experiences. Reason: 1- extremely professional and friendly staff- this makes the whole experience better. 2- very simple Menu which is loyal to it’s roots: classic schnitzel, only wine, and some other Austrian cuisines, but not blown up with all kind of food 3- schnitzel was phenomenal. So goooooood ATTENTION: there is no beer served here, but come on, no beer don’t kill nobody 😉 I’ll for sure go back to this excellent restaurant. Thanks Figlmüller 💋

Food: We shared the classic and very delicious schnitzel and parsley potatoes and were definitely satisfied! Service: We were seated immediately and our server was very nice and attentive. Atmosphere: A bit touristy, that’s what brought us in, but you’ll see locals as well. Overall a great place to enjoy some traditional Austrian dishes.

It was thin with a soft crunchy crumb and 34cm size. Couldn’t finish it but it was the best schnitzel i ever had. Service was super friendly. Tables inside close to the kitchen can be a bit of warm in there. There are two entrances, along the main road or via a smaller alley. Queue’s can take upto 20-30min

  • 4/5 Pavel J. 2 years ago on Google
Very enjoyable experience for us, but not for everyone. The food was delicious, relatively cheap and big portions. We had the schnitzel and the boiled beef. We didn't want to sit too long at the restaurant and weren't too picky about the menu. However - the waiting line to get in can be very long, the waiter can be somewhat impatient and rude (again, we had a positive experience, but two of our neighboring tables weren't so lucky), and the toilet is an "outhouse" where you need a key. So if you want a quick, Austrian, delicious lunch, don't have kids with you, aren't indecisive or have special request to your food - you'll probably have a great time.

I have resisted talking about this Vienna institution because, let’s face it, the way they’re going, they don’t need it. For a ‘touristy’ place, it is certainly a ‘classy’ — I tend to avoid using this word — spot to park your sore feet for some exceptional schnitzels. Their classic pork schnitzel and the Wiener Veal schnitzel are things you must try if you’re a meat eater (if you’re going to have schnitzel anyway). The potato salad at a measly €4.90 is absolutely ‘lecker’. The welcoming front of house is so welcome in Vienna! The wait staff are absolutely professional — as in the great tradition of wait staff who do not consider their service job a job but a vocation. Thank you!

  • 4/5 Jay B. 6 months ago on Google
Good location. Friendly staff and giant schnitzel. For non-pork eaters there's a chicken schnitzel also. I highly recommend the fresh lime soda (very refreshing). It's advisable to book in advance as it fills up very quickly

Schnitzel? Don’t waste your time. Go there! I’ve been there with friends while spending a weekend in Vienna. The schnitzel comes in a very large size and the it’s a masterpiece - Light, crispy, tasty - phenomenal. Special note on the salads, we had few of them to share at our table and they were all amazing. Prices okay, waiter a bit grumpy, but cool

  • 2/5 Pavel H. 1 year ago on Google
The restaurant with the best Wiener schnitzel in Vienna. Don't believe it. The schnitzel here is made from pork, not veal. You'll get much better taste in the surrounding restaurants. In my opinion, it's a tourist trap. We tried the schnitzel and the tafelspitz. The schnitzel was great, but the taste was mediocre. The potatoes served from the tafelspitz were unsalted. The restaurant does not allow you to order beer, which somehow belongs to the schnitzel. The only thing that can be praised is the potato salad, which was really delicious.

One of the coolest meals I have ever had. You feel like you're in someone's private, cozy restaurant in The Alps. The fried food doesn't taste fried, incredibly light. Everything was superb and top it off, our waiter, Karl, was exceptional!!!! Highly recommend and even more more highly recommend reservations a few weeks in advance or you'll look like the poor people with sad puppy dog faces being turned away 😁 Ps If you enjoy schnitzel bigger than your face, stop reading and make your reservation!!!!!

We had a great experience at the Figlmüller, our server was very friendly and helpful. The food was very delicious and great portions. Best Schnitzel hands down! It’s a must have! Just a heads up make sure you call way ahead and make reservations! If you don’t have reservations, you will be waiting a long time to get a table or might be turned away.

The best Schnitzel i have ever had in Vienna. Very basic menu and traditional vibes. It is all about knowing the Wien culture and having local food. The staff was very friendly and funny (especially Andreas).

  • 4/5 Nam N. 11 months ago on Google
It was recommended by my friend and we also saw it on a huge banner in Vienna airport so it a must to check as soon as we arrive at the city. To be honest, the food was not too special. The potatoes salad was delicious but the schnitzels were kinda of "so....this is it? the famous schnitzel of Vienna?". They were not bad at all. They were just not too sophisticated, just didn't knock out our taste buds right in the first bite...like we expected :)

Figlmüller serves a delicious schnitzel! We also ordered the veal goulash which was very tasty. The service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend making a reservation for the Wollzeile location since many people were turned away without one.
