Classic Vienna cafe experience. Well worth a wait to get in, but even better if you plan ahead and get a reservation. Food is great with some nice seasonal specials. I had a pumpkin and potato strudel, which was a nice savory strudel experience. Their coffees are all great in any style you desire. The desserts are worth a visit alone!

Historic restaurant in the heart of Vienna! It’s very touristy though you can see locals sitting there as well which is a good sign! Our food was tasty and we had a great time sitting outside and enjoying the sun on their big terrace!

We had a light lunch here with drinks and salads. There was a lot of outdoor seating, but tables were full so we had to sit inside. The atmosphere was definitely a bit pretentious and cold. Our server seemed to warm up to us after awhile, but we definitely didn't feel very welcome at first. The desserts looked fabulous, but we didn't try them. Prices were on the high side.

Classic Vienna coffee house, one of the longest in town (since 1873). Quite surprise with the ice coffee (Eiskaffee) as the actual drink is bigger than the photo in the menu. Some who likes coffee and milkshake will appreciate it a lot. Pro tip: the original dining area is located after the modern looking one.

Like many tourist places in the centre of the city, the prices are astronomical and not worth it. Sat outside on the terrace and it was quite nice. Busy. Service was average. Chocolate cake was dry and flavourless….and I still don’t understand why it’s so popular. The strudel was delicious. Coffee was okay. I don’t recommend this cafe

We had heard about this cafe. It was a great experience. The cheese plate had a variety of cheeses, grapes and figs. It was very tasty. The Wiener schnitzel was tender and tasted good. The chicken was cooked well, juicy and had some ham and cheese inside - just the right amount.

One of my favorite places to have breakfast and brunch. I really like their Eggs Benedict and Semolina Porridge! It’s definitely one the pricey side of things overall, but especially when enjoying all of that in their winter garden, it’s a worthwhile experience for me.

Fantastic soups. Waiters are very observant. The restaurant is like a living museum. 10-15 min wait if you didn't book. Wardrobe included.

Everything about this place was amazing, except the queue of course :) but the wait was worth it! I ordered eggs Hemingway , Irish coffee and apple strudel (don’t forget to ask for the vanilla sauce). The eggs were cooked to perfection, salmon was tasty, I can even say this was the best eggs Benedict I ever had. The strudel was melting in the mouth. The coffee was like angel’s kiss. The atmosphere was very cozy, just no music at all. Waiters were very polite, the service was good. Highly recommend

The food is good but the cakes, tarts and pastries are better, especially the small ones and cut up slices they offer. Their desserts are also a must, in particular their Kaiserschmarrn. It's more comfortable to sit outside rather than inside

Breakfast was good, expensive but good. Very good service by the staff. Only thing was they had steamers in their terrace más had guests being wet. We asked if they could lower the frequency and the answer was no, that it is automatic which makes not a lot of sense. We changed tables and so did every person who sat in the same sitting area. Nobody wants to get wet while eating.

Absolutely fantastic! Next time I am in Vienna I will definitely be visiting this cafe again. Cakes were superb and the coffee liqueurs were just to die for! They say you can't visit Vienna without having coffee and cake. This is the best place in the city!

If you’re new to Vienna please visit this place. Not only it is close to all the main tourist must-sees, but also it provides you with an authentic Vienna experience. On the walk in you are offered to leave your coat in a cloakroom and then you are guided to your table by waiters in suits. Please take care of dressing nicely although it is not required, but gives you a bit of authentic experience. We went there twice, second time before our flight - you can leave your luggage there while you eat which is a hit! We had classic goulash soup and a schnitzel. Both great and authentic. In terms of food this is a classic Viennese restaurant therefor I wouldn’t expect fireworks, but the food is tasty. Staff are super helpful and nice. Prices are a bit on a higher side tho. Cakes are nice and coffee is great. Would recommend

If you’re in Vienna, this restaurant is a must. Its atmosphere and ambience makes you feel like you’re in the old ages. Cozy and elegant. Its location is in the middle of city which makes it very convenient and walking distance from everything. The dishes we tried are rich in flavor & really tasty. I personally had the Goulash and it’s probably the best you’ll ever try. Service was really fast too. Expect a line to enter if you visit in touristic seasons. Price range is anywhere from 35-45 depends on how many courses you have. I took main dish, dessert, and sparkling water.

We arrived at around 12pm and we only had to wait 15-20 mins - which is UNHEARD OF. The gentleman greeting us was very kind. I don’t really like the fact that you are asked to check your coat and scarves, but I do see how this could really hinder service. The waiter was soooooo kind and personable, the menu is both in German and English, and prices are reasonable. It’s really cool that they place the order right from your table, so then the delivery from the bar or kitchen is just that much faster. Coffee/hot chocolate/tea/wine all were great, and accompanied by still water. 4 of us shared 2 orders of Wiener schnitzel, which was perfect. I was able to see neighboring tables with goulash/salad/etc and the portions were also ample. Highly suggest one serving with potato salad and one with chips/fries. Dessert also didn’t disappoint and highly recommend the Sachertorte. The bathrooms are a major disappointment - very small, not well attended to, and one of 3 toilets in the women’s was broken. The lines were very long. All and all. A WIN.

This legendary establishment in Vienna holds that title for a reason - its fantastic! The service was excellent! The food was delicious, and worth every euro! The beer was refreshing and tasty! The apple strudel was unmatchable! You would be a fool to leave Cafe Landtmann out your plans, so save up, and indulge!

Lovely, elegant cafe serving good quality Viennese dishes, cakes, coffees and drinks at surprisingly reasonable prices. You have a choice to either sit outside in the covered veranda or inside the elegant dining room. Service was top notch. Bring some coins to tip the coat check girl!

In a city full of wonderful coffee houses, Landtmann remains my absolute favourite. It is unquestionably a Viennese institution and consequently it retains an air of so much of what Vienna is famous for. The service and presentation is formal but these days it’s perfectly acceptable to come as you are and enjoy a taste of old Vienna. In the colder months the coffee house oozes grandeur with its wonderfully authentic interior and in the warmer months it has beautiful outdoor seating with shade when required. The menu is quintessentially Viennese from the coffee menu to the cake menu and everything in between. The cakes choices are overwhelming! Landtmann is also a great choice for breakfast by the way. Located very close to the parliament building, if you visit you’re likely to be rubbing shoulders with Vienna’s political elite and your fellow tourists as well as a good smattering of Viennese going about their daily lives and enjoying this most fabulous of Viennese traditions.

Sehr angenehm ! Very lovely ! The waiters are nice, helpful and patient. The menu is written both in German and English, very practical and useful. There is a terrasse, and the tables inside are comfortable. Good place to go have a coffee alone or lunch with friends, and read or work at the same time. I had a Kipferl Frühstück (Crescent Breakfast) which is typical Viennese.

The cakes here are to die for, the coffee is okay and the location is good. Landtmann offers delicious food in old Viennese styled coffee house. The prices are a bit high and it’s also way to busy with tourists. If you’d like to drink a good coffee in an old style Viennese coffee house I’d recommend to go somewhere else.

Wow..What a Goulash and a Schnitzel! Try one or both of those and a dessert at this wonderful and classical cafe, located near the Municipality of Vienna. Here, you can take a bite, a coffee and have a meal before going to the Rathausplatz ring to skate. Really historic place to come in Vienna to capture its flavor.

What a delight! Beautiful surroundings, lovely ambience and good service, not to mention the excellent food. Enjoyed schnitzel with a Caesar salad (the schnitzels are large in size but the staff don't mind if you order one to share). There was a wonderful array of desserts on offer too - difficult to choose just one! Easy to find and close to tram routes. Seating is available outdoors as well as inside for those who wish.

Pastries were scrumptious, melting in your mouth, perfect sweetness. Tea was really good. Beer was perfect temperature and had robust taste. Food was also super delicious. This restaurant came recommended by our friends who live here. Beautiful inside. It is pricey so best to go for dessert or lunch. They have the best Wiener schnitzel and we had the dessert sampler to get a little taste of all their treats.

I was hesitant about coming after reading the reviews about bad service but my experience was entirely different. The service was excellent - super friendly and in fluent English. The food was good but they certainly charge for it! I'm not sure the food is worth the price but the experience of sitting in such an historic place is perhaps the main attraction. In summer, everyone seems to prefer the terrace so it's actually quite nice to sit in the traditional cafe room and admire the decorative details.

Nice place, has great outdoor seating. Food was ok. Expects it to be a lot better being that it’s one of the oldest cafes in town. The kaisershmaren was not then very best. The veal schnitzel was very good and so was the potato salad 👍🏻

The greatest experience. Even thought it's considered a bit expensive, I can say that the prices are good considering that everything in Vienna is expensive. The only.thing that we don't understand is that they even charge the tap water. 3€ for 0.5L . The chocolate was good but the Viennese cake was PERFECT! I loved it and I enjoyed every bite. Definitely recommend it.♡

After a long walk in the area, this place will treat you with a nice melange coffee and apple strudel. It was my first time trying both. The coffee is known to have egg whites, which if you didn’t know before, you wouldn’t recognize. It made the coffee more creamy, and I liked it. The strudel, as the waiter explained is basically an apple pie. It’s very nice with what I think is condensed milk.

Tried the beef goulash, schnitzel, and strudel. The schnitzel was really good, nicely thin slice of pork, and the breaded layer wasnt too oily. The beef chunks in the goulash was every tender and the goulash was flavorful. Strudel was lovely but a little too sweet. Nice ambience and interior is really pretty, service was fast. Nice place to be in for a lunch!

One of the oldest coffee houses in Vienna...such a beautiful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas markets. The covered outdoor seating is just fabulous to see everything going by but also in the comfort and heat! At Christmas time when we visited they had the most beautiful tree outside. The picture of the dessert is a famous dessert on the menu...which I cannot remember but it was delicious?

The cakes are delicious, the tea is served in a bag which is disappointing considering the price 6 euros staff are ok but rather impersonal. The location is nice. The one star is for the fact that they charge 1euro 50 for a glass of tap water, personally I find this unethical it is stated on the menu but that does not make the act correct. I questioned the manager about it before writing the review to see if he would offer a refund but he said there was nothing he could do which makes me wonder what is role was. Altogether a disappointing experience and I wish it wasn’t mentioned in so many guides as a place to go.

Café Landtmann famously was Sigmund Freud’s favorite coffee house. This is where—according to legend at least—he held psychoanalytical sessions. Today, it’s fairly upscale, and a meeting spot for attendees of important press conferences. Food and drinks are good (I particularly like Freud’s favorites, the steak tartare, and the Sachertorte). The atmosphere is laid-back. On the right, in the back of the main classic room with beautiful wood paneling (and no air conditioning), you’ll find what, according to the café’s staff, was Sigmund Freud’s favorite table. But, in typical Viennese manner, there’s absolutely nothing here to officially commemorate one of the most illustrious men who ever lived!

Came here on our last day in Vienna and were not disappointed. If the weather is nice highly recommend to sit outside. Service is great, waiters very attentive. I had their seasonal asparagus risotto and a Mozart cake as dessert. The view on the park can make you linger there for hours.

The line goes by fast. Food was excellent. They served cooked food and desserts as well. Staff was helpful and friendly. We had pink gin spritz, dry vermouth, weinerschnitzel, Viennese goulash, kaiserschmarrn and the heavenly apple strudel with vanilla.

Landtman is across the street from the City Hall. You can either eat at the restaurant, or have coffee, cakes or snacks at the café section. I loved the Maroni Blute is a Chestnut bloom cake which was the most delicious cake I have ever eaten. My friend liked the cheesecake with strawberries. The coffee was also great. Landtman is an expensive café and we enjoyed it a lot.

A fairly large site. It has a good menu of coffees, infusions, etc. In addition of course to the sweets section, at the entrance it has a counter where you can order them to take away as if it were a pastry shop. Besides sweets they also serve lunch and dinner. I went to lunch and ordered the highly recommended apfel strudel with warm vanilla sauce. A popular Cafe in Vienna. If you are seated inside (not the winter garden), you would have a better feeling of a traditional Viennese coffeehouse experience. After ordering, our food and drinks came very quickly. The presentation is lovely, and the service from the waiters dressed in tuxedos is high-class. My dessert (Waldfrucht Fleck) tasted very sweet, which was unexpected for typical Austrian cakes. The coffee was okay, but it was expensive (5,70€). Many people bring tourists here for the experience (and it's listed in the tour books), but there are other Cafe's I'd go to instead. *Edited Review in 2020 - much better experience when there aren't tourists in Vienna! Really enjoyed the outdoor seating as well. Still - 1 🌟 because the coffee is so expensive (5,90€ for a Melange).

The 19th century restaurant located in the center of Vienna has great cakes and great food, I ate the creamschnite and the Mozart cake which I recommend the most. The schnitzel is very good but it cost 21 euro which is really expensive but the schnitzel is really big and it can be a great meal for a three persons so the price is good.

Ufff loved it all! I went for breakfast and had Benedict Eggs, and it was so delicious that I wanted to return for lunch...So, for lunch my aunt and I tried the Goulash soup and the Viennese broth soup, both outstanding and the Schnitzel was good too. We couldn't go without trying the tempting desserts, we bought them to go. The waiters were so kind, the environment classy and the prices were a bit high for lunch, but definitely worth it! Small dishes but tasty, good strong coffee, and service above the avarege. However, it is over rated, the small dishes with a too expensive price tag makes it a little uncomfortable. It is nice for a coffee and a small desert, but if you are hungry, this is not the place for ya'll...

There was a line for dine in when we arrived but it only took about 5- 10 minutes before we were seated. Customer service was great and staff worked very fast to seat customers by rearranging tables and chairs. I ordered a fruit tea along with the Viennese chicken. Presentation of the tea and the main dish was a 10/10. It was great that they paid attention to detail. It was a nice touch that they gave you crystallized candy that gave the tea a little sweetness. The chicken meat was soft and tender while the outside was crispy. Best fried chicken I have had. It did not seem over greasy and the meat was not chewy. Just wished that I had room to have dessert there.

We luckily got a seat without a reservation, but it was pretty packed. The interior is the cafe is very authentic and comfy. The menu had a vast amount of options, including gluten-free and lactose-free. The different types of lemonade were delicious refreshing drink. The cafe prices tend to be on the expensive side but the it covers the price of the traditional Viennese cafe atmosphere. The cafe is also conveniently close to the tram stop.

I'm speechless. Entering this cafe was a full experience in itself, and everything proved beyond fantastic. Did I mention they're solo-eater friendly? The service was one of the best I've ever had. The lady at the reception was cheerful and welcoming, and the cafe, pastries, and food were all equally delicious. As for the cafe itself, I had the chance to be seated in the Winter Garden, and the seat arrangement, the decoration, and general atmosphere are just WOW !!!! Lovely, authentic, traditional, and beautiful. I 100000% recommend that place. On a side note : Some reviews talk about the pastries not being out-of-this-world good, as is for Cafe Sacher / Central. For me, everything was perfect, though... you certainly won't ever collapse from pleasure after an apfelstrudel anywhere.... !!!

We had the opportunity to stop and be refreshed at this cafe with a lot of history behind it while on a busy sightseeing tour of Vienna. It was constantly busy but the atmosphere was relaxing and the service was exceptional and you felt attended to. The food was delicious and the desserts very good although I didn't get to taste heaven. It is priced above the standard or chain cafes of which there are plenty around. Overall, it's an experience I will not be quick to forget.

We stopped here for a sweet treat. We ordered the pistachio (marzipan) cake and the chocolate cake (sorry I don't remember the names). We also ordered two elderflower drinks and a coffee. The elderflower tea was iced and refreshing, not sweet at all, but it paired well with the pistachio cake. The coffee was amazing, we ordered a cappuccino, and it was strong! It was truly delicious, great with the chocolate cake. We sat in the "inside" outside area surrounded by windows. This place felt really fancy. I loved the atmosphere plus they were playing jazz.

We ditch cafe central with long tourists for this cafe instead. Atmosphere: most of their indoor seatings are reserved, if you want to seat indoor better book online 48 hours before. - the outdoor seating are also mostly full but there's always few empty table - toilet available, lots of fancy guests too.. Service: always busy but still smiling faces, their waiter and waiteress can speak English and happy to get your orders in English. They may also ask for tips when u ask for the bills. Our food came first before our drinks which I find a bit weird cus for breakfast in my preference I like drink hot coffee before eat anything. So the drinks does take sometime to arrive due to many customers. Food: Kaiserschmaan without raisin: honestly it was my firsttime, I can taste the vanilla and egg taste. It's like a pancake cake crumble, it comes with 2 type of non sweet jams, Cost about 14€.Slightly it's on the higher side but tastewise I will give 7/10 could be better but still okay. Marzipan almond cake: it's not too sweet, it's good. price wise about 7€. Not dry I din feel choke eating it. Tastewise: 9/10 Cold Creampuff roll like crossoint consistency : not sweet, good I'd give 8.5/10 Drinks: there's Eis Coffee and Eis chocolate drink (eis= ice cream).. Taste okay Coffee - we had latte/verlangater coffee is aromatic and not bitter not acidic.. SMOOTH... THE froth from latte was amazing.. This was my best part of all.. I like the coffee here.

I cannot say I was that impressed by Cafe Landtmann. Firstly, I called to make a reservation and was told on the phone that it was not necessary. By the time we arrived we almost didn't get a table because we did not have a reservation. Secondly, we came here with Vienna Vorteilsclub and the staff was not familiar with it so I think some training for staff on these matters would be useful. Thirdly, I asked the waiter to bring my drinks together with food as I like to drink my coffee with food and was told it was unfortunately not possible. The warm Apfelstrudel was very good and so was the coffee, however, the price of a cup of coffee is a true rip off. Overall, not a bad experience but I think there are better options in Vienna.

Very nice and elegant cafe right across from the biggest Vienna's Christmas market and the University of Vienna. This place can get really busy and you might need to wait in line. I recommend making a reservation in advance. They have a coat room where you can check in your coats. We ordered the egg Benedict, a latte, and a Mozart cafe with liquor.

We stopped here only for coffee and apple strudel, so I cannot comment on the rest of the food menu. But the coffee, service and especially the apple strudel, were all very good. Make sure to add the vanilla sauce to the apple strudel. The setting is very nice and contrary to some reviews of stuffy service our waiter was pleasant and top notch. You may pay a bit more than, but the atmosphere is worth the extra price, which I didn't think was out of line anyway.

Cafe Landtman, operating for over a century, boasts a rich history as a Viennese Coffee House. Hosting notable figures like Sigmund Freud, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Karl Kraus, it has become a cultural landmark. The cafe stands out for its excellent service, top-notch food, and a captivating atmosphere. I felt like I was transported to a place that just doesn’t exist in the United States.

Denis, a lovely guy, greated us and led us to our seats, with elegance and politeness and a friendly smile on his face. His service was just pure perfection! He also recommended us best food options and some more beautiful tourist sites not to be missed. He is a total asset to this beautiful brasserie. The food, desserts and drinks have matched the whole experience. Definitely recommend this beautiful place to anyone visiting Vienna.

I'm glad that this is the 1st café that me and my cousin have been to. It was a snowy morning, a few days before Christmas, and the queue was only like 10steps from the main door. Opt to dine inside than in the terrace. It was beautiful, and cozy, the dining experience I think is better with that atmosphere. The food I ordered was great, and even the wine! I had to have the apfelstrudel as well. It was a comforting experience plus the service was great. You try this first before the other famous café if you're going for café-hopping like we did.
