We arrived with lots of expectations. Unfortunately we were terribly disappointed. The wine arrived after the food... The food was heavily salted. We ordered a Syrah wine which was terrible and sour. We returned it back and ordered another wine which was more expensive but much better. We were so surprised when the bill we got included both bottles of wines and asked to talk to the manager. The restaurant owner arrived and started to argue with us and insisted not to deduct the wine from the final bill... "It's a good wine...and you have to pay for it...". His behavior was unacceptable...the first time I face such an answer... SHAME ON YOU... I would recommend Michlen to double check their recommendations... Maybe it was a good restaurant in the past BUT definitely it is NOT today. Stay away from this place.

It was a wonderful and sumptuous experience to have Schnitzel at this place. Plus a very courteous staff.

Wonderful classical Viennese restaurant with an amazing wine cellar. Aged Austrian Veltliners and Rieslings for fair prices.

The food was delicious and came so quickly aftrr ordering it. Our waiter was also always nearby if we needed anything. Would defnitely recommend this restaurant for a fine meal.

Very elegant restaurant with very good traditional austrian cuisine. Fair prices. It looked like a local restaurant but keep in mind the place is a very rich quartier in Vienna. I wonder why none of the waiters was smiling. Maybe bad day or maybe the rule :)

I picked Eckel for a birthday dinner. From the very beginning, they assisted me with everything: Table decoration, birthday cake, and so on. Staff is highly competent and very attentive. Atmosphere is rather tasteful and elegant. Meals are prepped with high quality ingredients, therefore flavourful. As a starter, we ordered steak carpaccio. Everything on it was exceptionally delicious, unfortunately meat was not just as flavourful. That’s the only minus. We ordered salvelinus fish and deer medallions as main course. Both of them were great. If wine arrived with on time with main course it would have been perfect. All in all, a clear recommendation. My honest rating is 4,5/5.

We live nearby Eckel, so picked the restaurant for a quieter anniversary dinner. Great ambience at the garden tables, the place is will prepared for weather and conveniently spaced. Service has been very attentive from the beginning, both from timing perspective as well as attitude and politeness. Very far from the infamous "grumpy waiters" prejudice of Viennese hospitality in general :) We went for mostly non-traditional food, enjoyed the little twists of preparation (for example, you would not think that duck breast works with peppersauce and strawberry, but it does :)). Great food quality from a wide selection. In Austria, I usually choose Grüner Veltliner as a wine, without actually knowing too much about the producers, well, the glass of Weingut Ernst Classic is probably the best I have tried until now, can only recommend :)

If you are vegetarian you have nothing to do in this restaurant because there are only few dishes that you can choose and they are poor. I got spaghetti in a “soup of cream, terrible

Great services Excellent food

If we want to spoil friends or family from Vienna or from out of town, we always take them to Restaurant Eckel. The food is heavenly, the wine aromatic, the staff friendly and competent: one feels like one is back in a forgotten era, when restaurants still took pride in their dishes and their staff. The garden is breathtakingly beautiful in summer. The Austrian foods on offer are of the highest quality and perfectly prepared, and portions are just the right size. Altogether a perfect place in an imperfect world.

Good place, high quality food. Seating is a little bit narrow for a remote place, but service is good. A little bit too posh in my taste, I personally like more casual places, but overall fine

We were 5 persons that very much disappitment from almost every think. The service was slow, we got the wine that we orderd ftom the begining during the main cours The food came very soldy and not testy, the meet was dry. Non of the dishes was special. The ice cream that we got was on water base and not creamy. We will never come back.

Fantastic food with the Austrian touch, including local ckassic dishes

Very solid eating experience and outstanding service in this restaurant which I have enjoyed for the last 30 years. The daily menu, which has started to become more varied since the daughter took over, has some really enjoyable dishes without the chiki-miki of many modern European restaurants where the cooks try to be creative with nothing to eat on the plate. On the other side, the prices have also tended to move up over the years but are still acceptable
