I *LOVE* this museum!! We have been all over Vienna for a full week and just happened on this place while on the Blue Hop on/Hop off route. This was one of the BEST art museums I've been to. I love this fun, interesting, playful art. I also spent a LOT of money in the gift shop. Worth it.

Funniest looking museum I’ve ever seen. It was a must for me after being in the Hundertwasser Village. A bit small for the price, but pleasing to walk around. The first two floors are dedicated to Hundertwasser (no pics on the 1st floor) and the other showed another exposition.

I was attracted by the coloring of the structure picture and end up coming all the way to take a look. I originally had no intention of going into the Museum. After going to the washroom then I decided to take my time and understand the artist. There are four floors For The Building. the first two floors seem to be the regular exhibition for the artist the top 2 floors seem to be the temporary exhibition which was not available when I was there. I would suggest starting from the second floor and watching the video to understand the artist first then you may start to enjoy observing the drawings with a better understanding on why were his drawings completed that way.

A unique and colorful building that is definitely worth a visit when you're in Vienna. Whether you're an art lover or just appreciate interesting architecture, you'll enjoy walking around the exterior of the building and taking in all the quirky details. On the inside you'll find paintings characterized by colorful, ornamental, and biomorphic shapes. You can buy tickets upon arrival; no wait line and not crowded. There's a restaurant at ground floor. The staff seemed a little bit too vigilant.

An amazing experience. Very much one-of-a-kind exposition. There is bathroom and storage boxes available, both free of charge (you need 1EUR for the locker that you get back). You can even lock your umbrella in a special stand. There are two floors dedicated to the main exposition and another different one on the top two floors. Recommend! Also recommend to take off your coats.

The building itsself is different. Beautiful architecture. The exhibition helps to understand Hundertwasser’s ideas. Loved the colors and his idea to move away from straight lines and make or transform buildings to something extraordinary The gift shop was too expensive for me.

The painting section of the museum is really impressive! It definitely worths visiting it. The photography section is rather poor and of minimal exposure. Audio guidance could prove useful since there is no other language of reference in the exhibits than German. Finding the museum is also slightly difficult since there is no sufficient signing either on the streets or outside the museum itself. Even with google maps it proved an adventurous task.

We visited on a Monday, the place wasn't too busy or anything, we had loads of space to walk and move around comfortably as the museum is a few stories tall. The art itself was great to look at, and the names of the paintings sometimes give something deep to think about. The whole vibe of the museum was very cozy and home-y, places to sit down and relax a little, lots of windows and air. Great place overall.

A must visit for lovers of architecture, art exhibitions and eclecticism. The building itself is so unique, colorful and fascinating inside and out. From the facade and the lack of sharp corners to uneven floors and sloppy stairs, quirkiness is a constant throughout the whole building. Inside the building, there is a museum showcasing rich collection of Hudertwasser's lifework, little caffe place mimicking the spirit of the building and a museum shop. Overall, a very thrilling and satisfying experience, especially since the museum is in such a contrast to other museums in Vienna.

Kunst Haus Wien, designed by Hundertwasser himself, is the only museum where the artist's own works are permanently exhibited. Transformed from an old furniture factory and with architecture overseen by Peter Pelikan, the building wonderfully reflects Hundertwasser's style. When combined with the paintings inside, this style makes you feel like you're wandering through a fairy tale world. I highly recommend a visit; it's a fantastic museum!

Unfortunately, my recent visit to the KunstHausWien was met with disappointment as it was temporarily closed. While I couldn't explore the exhibits, the building's exterior, designed by Hundertwasser, was a work of art in itself. The vibrant colors and whimsical design were still visible from the outside, hinting at the creative wonders that might await once it reopens. I'm looking forward to returning when the museum is accessible.

The museum is quite small but it's very unique and the prices are reasonable. Definitely worth a visit. The only downside is that pictures are not allowed inside. I recommend to pop in for an hour here (get an audio guide) and then explore the Hundertwasser Village and the Hundertwasser House which are only 5-10 minutes away.

Simple loved it!! I would go back anytime!! Firstly I was hesitated to visit the Museum but after looking around in it, I warmly recomment to everybody. It was very interesting to me to hear Hundertwasser byself about his own art. I love his idea about designing people's living area! Yes, we should need to live in Hundertwasser villages!!!!!

When we bought the tickets the man at the counter behaved a bit strangely, and for some unknown reason apparently the tickets are cheaper if you buy them with cash instead of card? However, I could only pay with card, so we paid the regular price. Since I had a bagpack I had to put it into a locker, which you have to use a 1€ coin for, luckily I had a few coins with me. The museum isn't very big, but I especially found the upper floors really fascinating. We also visited the current exhibition, which was really cool! Overall I'd say that the most fascinating thing wasn't the exhibited art, but the whole building itself. It feels somewhat alive, even. I don't know if we will come back, but I'm glad I've finally visited this museum now.

Based on the photos online and the way the exterior looks like, I was expecting something else. You are not allowed to take photos on the first floor, only in the loby and the second floor. It was a quick visit, because, like I said, I was expecting more than a single artist painting exposition. The experience was still pleasant, that's why I didn't give it less than four stars.

  • 5/5 Darren W. 4 years ago on Google
A very interesting museum of the artist. He’s the mind behind the row of colourful houses, with an interesting take on art, architecture, sustainability and graphics. There is also a photograph exhibition on the top floor which is worth visiting. Audio guide can be rented here. It offers detailed explanation of the artist’s work and mindset.

This place has something uniquely magical about it and at least to me feels like it shows a different side of Vienna. This museum shows the collected works of Hundertwasser along with a description of his philosophy and concepts for a more eco friendly living. The art is mesmerizing and the architectural concepts way ahead of their time. It also often hosts temporary exhibitions, usually photography, that are also well worth the visit. All in all, a recommendation for everyone wanting to escape baroque.

  • 4/5 Minh L. 4 years ago on Google
The museum has so much to offer it almost feels overwhelming. Visiting this is like walking through colorful twisted mind of an artist knowing that you won't ever be able to hold on to his spirit. There're so many contradicts in his works: loneliness vs community, playful vs dreadful, nature vs modern technology... I just wished there were more background information around each pieces so we don't have to rely on the audio guide.

One of the best collections of Hundertwasser's works, and you get to see many of his ideas realized in this building, for example a miniature self recycling garden (he was really high on this ecosystem) including a hundertwasser themed washroom!

I don’t know why we had to pay for a ticket.. (2 star for that )it was about 10 euro ... the gift shop was nice ,I wish they had the tv with the documentary /videos of him up in the front of the store! He was really talented ... there is a small restaurant inside if you want to grab something to eat ..

DO NOT MISS!! Unique, amazing, worth every penny and effort. I was lucky to visit and learn about Hundertwasser at KunsthausWien while I was a student, on exchange living in Vienna and studying at WU. I knew nothing of the artist before visiting, but it was an unforgettable experience, one I'd wish I'd appreciated more at the time. I have been captivated by his art/works ever since.. Cut to, American ex-pat/resident of New Zealand, I just learned that Hundertwasser spent half of his life here in NZ. Hence the 'too young' comment above, aa I was in total surprise by the coincidence of our paths vienna/nz.. His being more noble than mine and my 'path' in life having nothing to do with his. A fantastic coincidence.. a person who's heart was in the right place (mother earth first) far before it was 'cool' to recycle and be sustainable..please go explore this unique place and bring friends /family /strangers /whoever! Enjoy, learn, and experience this great place. Hope your journey is aa fun as mine! What a ride

OK its 5 star the museum, but expensive ticket made it 4. Its a museum about a guy that donated whole house, guy who wanted to be altruistic and give and now they use him to earn money. That's just not the way humanity should go. I would donate for it for workers or something but not like this. Would recommend it tho ?

A lovely place inside and outside, the museum itself is great and worth visiting! If you wish to just come and see bent floors and funny things it all can be found on the ground floor. Be sure to check out the toilets on the first floor, those are quite fun. An extra tip for those who are planning to visit : please choose flat shoes, or if you wish to set the level to medium to hard do what i did and come in hills xD

Extreme experience just before. When we said 2 adults and 3 kids, the guy in ticket office said 22 euros. I asked how this numbers comes, whether we get any discount, he just said “You pay 22 euros!” OMG!! When I asked him to be kind, he answered I focused on what he is supposed to do. Even, complained that I didn’t answer him quickly enough. Totally under qualified staff there. Screwed up whole my day!!!!

Its creator was a simple man and out of this world, he left a unique legacy to humanity to make them aware of the great intelligence that surrounds us everywhere and how human beings are unaware of their arrogance and arrogance. (Translated by Google) Obviously, there would be tinkering here. The streets in front of the building testify to this. We were eyewitnessed by a skater who tried painfully to use the arbitrarily paved / tarred and uneven sidewalk. In addition, without any apparent arrangement patterns, different blocks, of several patterns with hair-raising confusing colors, were mixed together. In other words, this building was pasted together. It is extremely repulsive and although there was obviously a lot of tampering during construction and no one has done anything about it to date, it still stands ... The outdoor area on the roof and some other attractions cannot be visited. (Original) Die Ausstellung "Nach uns die Sintflut" hat sehr bewegende Bilder gezeigt. (Translated by Google) This museum is wonderfully and impressively designed. You get the feeling of getting to know the artist Hundertwasser personally as a person. There are individual quotes from Hundertwasser that refer to the most varied areas of life. The icing on the cake for me was the 15-minute short film about Hundertwasser's rainy day, which is shown there in a continuous loop in a small room away from the actual exhibition. A very inspiring experience for me (Original) Wunderbar und eindrucksvoll ist dieses Museum gestaltet.

Great collection packed into a super ornate Victorian masterpiece of a museum. Nice Egyptian collection, so so Greek bronzes, the most Titians and Bruegels I’ve ever seen in one place. The cafe is exceptionally pretty and the food was very good. Service - not so much. Overall, museum was a pleasant surprise and I recommend it. Light rail stops close by.

Probably overrated, nice outside but lots of pics were misteryously artistic. Not on focus, subject unknown ecc.

The floor tells the philosophy. The walls tell us the core of the artist. And the paintings speak music. Wonderful.place. Audio guides are available, lockers and a cute cafe to spill ideas.

Can be seen in less than a quarter of hour. 11 euros for the ticket price is a "theft". Reasonable price would be 3.5€.

Worth a visit! I really liked the chilled vibes there and the temporary exhibition was also super interesting. You will get to know interesting new artists and a unique building. The Hundertwasser collection was also pretty nice! As I have a yearly ticket now, I will definitely come back to see more of Susan Meiselas and co!

I loved it and for a short trip to Vienna, this should be included in your schedule. You could enjoy the big contrast while visiting the other typical museums of the city, plus this one.

Really inspiring museum. Idea of being one with the nature is well illustrated. Good to reach and friendly people. I was more focused on the architecture the house and it took us around 70min. If you are interested in modern skuril arts expect to spend more than 3 hours or more. If you are visiting Vienna add this to your list .

Wow. What an amazing place. Particularly enjoyed finding out more about Hundertwasser in the short film they show. The cafe was excellent too. Well worth a visit

Best part is the 20 minute film on the 2nd floor. Some of Hundertwassers work is also mesmerising, as curious and at times questionable of a man he was. Only about €11 a ticket, easily spend a couple hours here as there's a great cafe as well.

Found this gem because it was close to my hotel otherwise I wouldn't even know it existed. And I was not disappointed! The place is really nice and give the perfect frame for the paintings. The wavy floors and stairs and so original and the exposition well arranged. Here once again, the staff was so nice and the guy in the small coffee of really great advice! Don't forget to have an apfelstruddel and coffee there before leaving!

This place is magical. Hundertwasser was unique and amazing artist and that's how I would described the museum. He didn't like corners and straight lines so he often painted asymmetrical circles and spirals which he would compare with the life and nature. There is a short movie documentary screening (as a part of his exhibition) which explains his colorful and lively paintings and architectural designs. His paintings are wonderful. As this is the only Hundertwasser's permanent exhibition in the world it is definitely worth visiting but the building it self is also unique and extraordinary. As soon as you enter the backyard it's clear that you entered "parallel universe". With almost no edges on the walls, colorful tiles and curved steps the place spreading very good vibes. There is a restaurant at the bottom floor in its authentic beautiful design and nice food which was surprisingly not pricy for such a place. Definitely recommending!

Brilliant! So glad we went. We enjoyed seeing a huge collection of Hundertwasser's work, including models and a good film about his life. Inspirational. Good food at the cafe too.

Cool building. Walking along the streets past similar buildings, you suddenly come across something that resembles Gaudi's buildings. It's worth taking a closer look at this structure.
