Such a great museum with nice interactive opportunities ! I lost track of time during my visit and had fun. I guess it should please both adults and younger people with this playful touch added to the learning. Learn about sounds, some big composers, the NewYear Concert, instruments and more. 🎶 Photos ok but without flash. 📷 I love this possibility to go there at night for a cheaper price also !

We have lived here for 5 years and this was our first visit to Haus der Musik! We really enjoyed this place more than we thought we would. There was a lot to do here for both adults and children. There is an elevator, which is nice if you are traveling with children in a stroller or you are unable to do the (many, many) stairs. But be WARNED, once you go UP in the elevator, it only goes back DOWN to the main entrance which is OUTSIDE THE MUSEUM ENTRANCE and you cannot get back inside without paying again. So my advice is to go up floor by floor. Then take it back down and out. Otherwise you will miss something. Make sure to leave enough time (at least an hour, if you have small child 10 and under!) for the CLONG ROOM!! It is amazing and so much fun to both do and watch!! My kid and the two we were with spent at least an hour here making clongs and then running out to the screen to see THEIR clongs on the screen. It was nice because it gave the three adults time to sit, enjoy the CLONG show, and have a quiet chat. :) Also, for those who do have enough mobility even to do one flight of stairs, there are audible PIANO STAIRS going up to the first floor. They are super fun and the kids loved them. As did the adults. There is A LOT of information, fun facts, interaction, music, things to see and do, etc. in this museum and is WELL WORTH the admission price. This is a gem of a museum and I highly recommend it. The friends we were with have been at least 5x and have lived here 5 years. We will definitely be back!!

The House of Music in Vienna is a captivating and interactive haven for music enthusiasts. From composing your symphony to conducting a virtual orchestra, the museum seamlessly blends education with entertainment. The immersive exhibits make learning about music history an engaging experience, appealing to visitors of all ages. The highlight is undoubtedly the interactive displays, where you can experiment with various musical elements and truly feel like a part of the creative process - such as being a conductor for an orchestra. The museum's commitment to making music education enjoyable is evident in every corner, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking a fun and enlightening journey through the world of sound in Vienna.

A nice place to visit, as it's a very unusual museum. Featuring various aspects of music, it's a great experience. Even though most interactive exhibits have a nice general idea, they are not really aimed at children. We noticed ourselves and observing all other visitors that many art installations were a bit over-engineered, resulting in people having trouble using them; e.g., the virtual directing always ended after a few seconds for all children we observed as they were not "good" enough; as this should be about having fun experiencing music, it would have been great to add an easy mode so that even children can play for more than a few seconds until it stops with a message that you need to train more. Similar experiences with the Kinect-based control of the zoo concert and others. In conclusion: a nice place to visit, even if a bit more user-centered design aimed at a greater audience (both young and old) would help expand the appeal.

A really cool museum for a person who's never interested in going to museums like me. It's very very interactive, which makes it so much more exciting for the visitors. Entrance ticket for federal volunteer is 12€/person. It took me about 2 hours to see almost everything. So it might be worth it to get the Night ticket for 8€ (from 8pm-10pm) if you're efficient :D

Very cool and interactive house of music. All kinds of activities and instructions to get your hands on and try out. A big session of legendary musicians to learn about. My personal favorite part is the interactive orchestra conductor, it's where I learned that being a conductor is much harder than it looks! Highly recommend for anyone who is in the area, whether you are into music or not, you will really enjoy this musical museum.

Went at night as we happened to have a couple hours to spare after arriving Vienna in the late afternoon. They have a night discount at 8 euro if you enter after 8pm. Loved the discount but also regretted not having enough time to look at everything as we didn’t expect this museum being so much fun! It’s a cool interactive museum with lots of things to play with, but do expect a line waiting for those games and devices. Also fascinated by the musicians’ rooms on the 3rd floor, it feels like they were brought back to life. I think 2.5-3 hours would be a good amount of time to spend here if you want to see everything at your own pace.

I discovered this museum by accident as I was looking around Stephansplatz for something to do on my first day in Vienna. This museum was perfect as it had a later closing time and it was related to Mozart and other famous musicians. A lot of people (especially adults) in my group didn't expect it to be much, but boy were they wrong. This is probably the most FUN museum I have ever been to. It has 4 floors and it is highly interactive...basically it is a learn by doing type of museum. Not only kids, but also adults can partake in all the activities and enjoy themselves. We spent 2 hours here (because we arrived at 20 and museum closes at 22 - we also entred half price), but you could easily spend 4 hours here and never get bored. I don't know how the museum is during the day, but when I visited there were only 2 other groups so we were able to have fun without stepping on each others foot. I definatelly recommend going...it is in my wide experience of travelling an absolute unique experience.

We got there in December on a Saturday around 11 o'clock. We spent about two hours there. We bought tickets and paid 33 euros for three at the entrance and handed over our coats. It is highly recommended.

Wonderful museum for music and Viennese history! The multiple interactive exhibits are wonderful for both children and adults. Be ready to spend a good bit of time waiting for your turn to try out some of the exhibits. The day we were there it was a bit crowded and some activities had large crowds waiting to participate. My husband and I opted to skip out on most things so our children could have a chance to participate.

If you love classical music, you will enjoy the House of Music in Vienna. A good treat and you can spend around 2 hours to enjoy the place. We went in the evening and the place was less crowded.

(Translated by Google) Music presented scientifically and eventful. The consideration here is very limited to the European / Austrian classic. The subject of music could be treated a bit more openly. (Original) Musik wissenschaftlich und erlebnisreich dargestellt. Die Betrachtung ist hier aber sehr auf die europäische/österreichische Klassik eingeschränkt. Etwas weltoffener könnte das Thema Musik schon behandelt werden.

(Translated by Google) It is larger on the inside than it appears on the outside. Lots of interactive entertainment, including creating your own composition, conducting an orchestra or playing musical instruments. Children should really like it, and adults will have something to do. (Original) Внутри он больше, чем кажется снаружи. This museum was a lovely experience. The most influential composers of classical music such as Mozart, Beethoven etc. are presented very nicely in individual rooms. But not only history is housed there, but also interactive games in between, which is quite nice.

The museum was great 👌 only unfortunate thing in my visit was that I took the late night access. I wasn't told that the souvenir shop will close 9pm (maybe it was written somewhere) but because of that, I didn't manage to be there in time. The souvenir shop is at the end of the tour

Fantastic place to learn about sound, hence the "house of music" name. You can get acquainted with the greatest composers of Austria and there most famous works. Also the place has some interactive exhibits, which was really fun for me. The visit took me about 1.5h, and the ending of the tour, where you virtually direct the Vienna Philarmonic Orchestra and they actually react to your "skills", really is the cherry on top of the cake.😉

Stellar museum- must experience! Has displays about the science of sound and different rooms devoted to each of the classical music masters (Mozart, Beethoven, etc.). On the 4th floor, you can try your hand at conducting the symphony orchestra via a virtual reality experience. Wish I had more time to explore this museum. If you are a lover of classical music, you can easily spend the whole day here!

Fun interactive museum! We visited the museum on January 1st 2023. We took our 2 year old son there but it may have been a bit too early. He was able to do some of the interactive things there but it’s probably more fun for children ages 4 +. I’m planning to take my son again in a couple of years. My son enjoyed the piano stairs, conducting game, interactive storybook and making sounds with the big drum.

Very fun and really informative museum. There are many interactive installations that allow visitors to play with sounds and music. One of the best places for children and also great for parents. Learn about the different types of musical instruments. What's inside the human ear? How does the music sound if you are a turtle? Find the answers to these questions and many more interesting and amusing facts. Don't miss this unforgettable experience and bring all your friends and family to have fun together.

Wonderful place to lose yourself in for a couple of hours or more. Well presented and covering a wide range of material over four floors this was great fun. Play the piano stairs (better still, play them with a friend and make a chord), compose your own waltz, read the handwritten notes of the great Viennese composers. What's not to like?

Great place to introduce your kids to various classical music and instruments, as well as famous composers. The entrance was 29 Euros for the family ticket which allows you get 2 adults and 3 children below 12. There are 4-5 floors of exhibits and you can spend a 2-4 hours depending on how detailed you want to go. The highlight for me is trying to virtually conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. A lot of fun!

(Translated by Google) Worth a visit. First of all: fans of classical music will definitely get their money's worth. For non-connoisseurs like me, however, the first 70% of the exhibition is still very worth seeing and interesting. All in all a highly modern and well made museum. One can imagine where the journey will go in the coming decades in terms of visualization, interactive and AR. Because of the modern technology and the associated experience, I found the slightly higher price reasonable. Anyone who knows and is interested in Bach, Beethoven, etc. could certainly stay for 4 hours and still wouldn't have seen / read everything. (Original) Einen Besuch wert.

A unique experience we had in the House of Music. For someone who doesn't know anything about music or sound engineering, this is still entertaining and educative. The exhibition is a mesh of history, philosophy and the science behind the sound and how different people hears different things from the same source. A lot of interactive instalments that can be played with. Highly recommend.

This is one of the best places to see in Vienna! Definitely worth to come here, it's a must! A lot of interactive spots, where you can see interesting things, do some sound related experiments and get to know better the way the sound behaves - it's interesting as just a curiosity, but also if you're a bit more interested in physics behind the sound and waves in general. And stairway that is playing your every step is just wonderful and amazing - I want to get it in my house!

Interactive stations in museums rarely work all well but here everything was well maintained. The wear of masks was constantly reinforced. Very good value for money

I was a bit wary about the "interactive elements" promised by the Haus der Musik after being terribly disappointed by the Technical Museum, but I was very pleasantly surprised. There weren't a ton of activities there, but what they had were incredibly well done. My 5 year old son's favorites were the movement game right outside the ticket counter, and the rolling the dice game which created individualized/random waltzes. I loved conducting the orchestra on the top floor - the reactions of the instrumentalists when the conducting goes awry are pretty priceless, and makes you want to screw up just to see what they say. I really also appreciated the activity where you can listen to what different sounds sound like to a baby in the womb. My son forced us to walk quickly through the more traditional museum elements, but I would have liked to spend more time there. Not only was everything beautifuly staged, but the music piping through the rooms lent a very peaceful air. If I go back, I'll go by myself and take my time. We went on a Friday morning right when it opened (school holiday) and had pretty much the whole place to ourselves. Note that larger backpacks are not allowed in the museum. This Museum is worth a visit.

It's a good 90 minute walk through. Good amount of activities for both kids and adults. Well curated with both English and German translations.

    O. K you probably asking yourself is it worth it? Hoping it’s not another boring classic museum? On the contrary, we were with a six year old child and she had a blast, stairs like piano and a lot of interactive things to do, also very informative and interesting. Prices are affordable, different prices for day and night you should decide when is better for you. Very highly recommended

Fabulous place. Several fun and interactive displays. What a great place to go for every age. Though we shared our visit with several dozens of kids we mostly were able to enjoy the exhibits without too much distraction. Be sure to include this Museum when you visit Vienna.

You never imagine that you can be the premier conductor for The Vienna Philharmonics Orchestra, although this is an artificial attraction. Even orchestra member rejected me once, so I tried my best. I never expected the Bowing a baton causes muscle pain. The rest of educational exhibit is dull and nobody paid attention to. But business hour by 10pm is longer than other ordinary museums and good for tourists.

(Translated by Google) A museum where you can experience the history of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the lives of composers familiar with Vienna. There are only explanations in German and English, but it is an app that reads from the QR code and supports other languages including Japanese. There is a composition corner using virtual space and a conductor experience corner, so even elementary school children can enjoy it. The piano stairs near the entrance are very fun. However, if you want to get a better understanding of Vienna's music history, there are many places to read, so we recommend that you go with adults only or with children who are patiently waiting. We attended a children concert held on the last floor of the building. The artists were exceptional and managed to get the children attention. Everything else was a complete chaos! The organisation of the event was beyond a catastrophy. Some people collected all backpacks at the entrance, most of which containing kids water bottles, pampers and pacifiers. At the same time much larger bags were allowed inside. The concert was late and logically all smaller kids were nervous and crying even before the start. The hall was NOT SUITED AT ALL for concerts, all seats are at the same level so logically kids cannot see if there is an adult sitting in front. I did not enjoy the experience

A must visit museum for all classical music aficionados. The best floor in my opinion was the history one where they showcased memorabilia from the times of the old masters. This was really immersive. They could have had a bit more interactive stuff, but what they had was already pretty cool. Also, they have a grand piano in the ground floor that is open to public. However, there was a concert going on at that time and we weren't allowed to play it.

One of our favorite museums we have ever been to. My oldest daughter read about it while we were planning our trip and we have been looking forward to visiting it for a while now. The visit exceeded my expectations! Such a fun spot for adults and kids alike. Interactive and engaging! I really appreciate it that they had a family ticket to help save a little for our large family. My kiddos ages 2 to 11 all had a blast. We could have easily stayed here a few more hours. The technology is just incredible!

It’s a fun and good place to know about the history of music and about the composers that shaped Vienna. Interactive stuff to do. Unfortunately, there were a lot of kids yelling, cutting in front of me, pressing the buttons, so the experience wasn’t all pleasant.

Amazing museum! If you are a fan of classical music, this is a lovely place to learn more about some composers etc. It's not exclusively for classical music but does focus on it, so if you have no interest in this particular kind of music, it might not be as interesting to go here. A lot of thought went into the expositions and the interactive parts were incredibly fun! The ticket is a tad expensive, but I think it was worth it.

What a wonderful place to visit, even if you are not a music fan, or don't have kids. There are individual rooms for artists like Mozart, Beethoven and others, and lower floors have a large number of interactive displays to understand how sound is produced and perceived. Conducting the symphony is loads of fun though there is some wait time involved. Cloakroom and toilet facilities are inside the building which means you can spend a good deal of time here. Also don't forget to check out the gift shop where we found some really unique gift items. When we visited on a Friday afternoon in August there were no queues.

We traveled from Australia, Queensland specially to Vienna to see an opera in the Staat Opera House, unfortunately all was booked out well ahead but our second item on our bucket list was the House of Musik, and it was in one word … FANTASTIC!! The House of Music is a must for the young, not so old and old - go and see for yourself. The staff was fantastic, professional, polite all in all absolutely wunderbar. There is an enormous amount of information about The Great Composers of yesteryear, lots of interactive activities for all ages and a beautiful performance (pre recorded) of the famous New Years Concert. Before we knew we had spent 6 hrs and unfortunately had to leave to put money into our car park spot😞. Well catered for wheelchair bounded people like my wife, she had pretty much the best day of her life being in The House of Musik in Vienna - during our potential last trip to Europe. Facilities: ***** Value for money: *****+ Wheelchair accessible: ***** Easy to find: ***** Parking: *** Would we be back if we could: CERTAINLY!!

Interesting, informative, fun and interactive museum. The museum spans accross 4 floors and is suitable for both adults and children. Exhibits are simultaneously presented in a scientific and kid-friendly, playful way. Since a lot of exhibits are interactive and it is often necessary to queue to try an exhibit out, I suggest to plan on spending 2-3 hours in the museum. Our favourite part was the Virutal Conductor experience on the 4th floor. We got to conduct Vienna Philharmonic orchestra and experience the musicians' reactions. :) Bonus tip, if you buy the ticket after 8pm, you get 50% discount.
