A really beautiful palm house to visit! The poinsettias were stunning to look at! It’s very warm by the entrance and they have coat hooks to leave your coats/jackets, so you can wander free handed! Lots of beautiful flowers and plants to admire. There’s lots of seats available for you to ponder and watch the world go by. It’s definitely worth a visit!! They also have toilets which doesn’t cost extra!!

The Palmenhaus opened in 1882 and it is a large greenhouse featuring plants from around the world. It is the most prominent of the four greenhouses in Schönbrunn Palace and is also among the largest botanical exhibits of its kind in the world with around 4,500 plant species. Personally, I love greenhouses!

The Palm House had a pricing structure that wasn't clear. We initially thought the reduced prices were for Vienna City Card holders, but it turned out they were for children. This was surprising, as children typically receive free admission elsewhere. When we sought clarification, the staff member became quite agitated, insisting that we pay €31 without any questions. Eventually, she calmed down, allowing for a more normal conversation. The Palm House, to be frank, didn't leave a significant impression. If you've never encountered anything similar, you might find it intriguing, but otherwise... We wrapped up our visit in just 10 minutes, which left us questioning why we had paid so much. The same sentiment applied to the Desert House, which shared similar characteristics: a few unremarkable fish, a handful of turtles, and one or two reptiles. It simply didn't justify the cost. Surprisingly, we even had to pay for using the restroom despite having purchased tickets. In summary, this place isn't particularly welcoming to tourists. It's suitable for capturing a few photographs, but everything else comes with an unjustifiably high price tag. We won't be returning.

A spectacular place and experience if you're passionate about nature. The Schönbrunn Palm House is a giant, temperature controlled greenhouse that houses some of the world's most beautiful plants. The plants and greenery blends in with the structure, its pylons and walls, providing a seamless experience throughout. There are 3 large rooms: one main/central room and two temperature-controlled rooms, one on each side of the main room. Every room houses a wide variety of different plants.

The greenhouse was built by Ignaz Gridl and inaugurated by Franz Joseph I. in June 1882. A bomb attack on Schönbrunn Palace in February 1945. destroyed the glass of the greenhouse and many plants died. The renovated Palmenhaus was reopened in 1953. Today, about 4,500 plant species live inside.

A very calm place to rest in nature. Not too crowded, a single ticket is 7€. Some tiny frogs also live there! Gorgeous views located in an old and pretty building. Many people were just sitting on benches and either talking, snacking or drawing.

The Palmenhaus Schönbrunn is a large greenhouse in Vienna, Austria featuring plants from around the world. It opened in 1882. It is the most prominent of the four greenhouses in Schönbrunn Palace Park, and is also among the largest botanical exhibits of its kind in the world, with around 4,500 plant species. Several forerunners were built in the Palace Park in the 18th and 19th centuries, under Emperors Francis I and Joseph II. The present building was built by Ignaz Gridl following plans by court architect Franz-Xaver von Segenschmid, known for his projects of bridges, and Sigmund Wagner. Groundbreaking took place in 1881 and Franz Joseph I opened the greenhouse on 19 June 1882. Since 1918 it has been run by the Bundesgärten (Federal Gardens). A heavy bomb attack on Schönbrunn Palace in February 1945 destroyed most of the glazing of the Palmenhaus. Many plants died, although some were saved by being transferred to the nearby Sonnenuhrhaus. The rebuilding began in 1948, and the Palmenhaus was reopened in 1953. The building was closed to the public in 1976 as a safety measure following the collapse of the Reichsbrücke. Renovations were carried out between 1986 and 1990.

Stunning even in winter. They made the extra effort to decorate it winter themed with the winter flowers. Not too crowded. No prior tickets needed.

This glasshouse is located just outside of main entrance to the schoenbrunn zoo in Vienna. At time of these review the ticket to this glasshouse and the other one in front of it is 6€ combined. It is actually a nice, beautiful place, full of different kind of plants. It's calm and relaxing place with many resting areas. I actually like botanical gardens and glass houses, but why two stars? Because there was not one word written in english in all the many description available there!!!!! Austrians care to sell tickets to tourists but not to add some caption in english !!!!!

Before I leave this review let me ask you first.... Have you ever been to heaven??? Do you know what the heaven looks like? No? Then I would tell you that Palmenhaus is the little heaven which is based near Vienna City Centre! This is not a place like any other this place is much better! A little Heaven, Tropics, Jungles with colourful flowers, huge palms, banana trees, even pineapples growing around and more !!! So bear in mind that this place has to be a must in your visit list ;) !!! Tip: If you decided to visit this place i would recommend you to be there on opening in early morning and take the full ticket package included with the zoo! Btw the zoo is one of the best in all Europe and Asia! See my next review about the zoo with pictures and videos included, you will love it 🥰

(Translated by Google) Despite, or perhaps because of, its age, the architecture is very impressive. Over 700 tons of iron, approx. 45,000 panes of glass built over a length of 111 meters, a width of 29 meters and a height of 25 meters to provide a home and protection for about 4500 plant species. At different times of the day in the play of sunlight, this building becomes even more beautiful.

At the entrance, the smell of Lila is overwhelming. Lots of Strelitzia. Inside the chairs and benches, you can sit and gaze at the garden listening to the birds singing and the sound of the water from the ponds. In the eyes of fish and turtles. It is heavenly, pure bliss - Nature 🌳 A huge greenhouse with a wide variety of exotic plants. I visited in the morning. I would love to make my family and friends visit Palmenhaus. I loved and enjoyed witnessing everything that has been preserved here, best part for me was sitting on the benches, absorbing the atmosphere & its vibes, and it was totally worth €7. I would recommend this to everyone who wishes some refreshing moments in life 🌼🌷

Emperor Franz Joseph commissioned the construction of the Palm House in 1882 and today is still the largest in Europe. It is divided in three main rooms with different temperature. The entire place is just gourgeous. You can buy combined ticket along with Desert House and Zoo.

Place that takes you in a lazy mood and relaxation. Park in the front is good to rest your eyes on. The interior is nice and pleasant to be in. The terrace is ideal for drinking coffee esspecially on a sunny day but the tables are small and chairs not so comfortable. The exterior is a bit clutterd and definitely could be more pleasant to the eye.

We thought to ourselves; let's see what that is and first of all our annual card from Tierpark would be "partially recognized" as a small surcharge of € 3, -. It is a greenhouse rest zone divided into 3 temperature zones - that is what I would like to call it, with winding stairs that would fit into any "mystery film".

6 euros is well spent in this beautiful greenhouse. There rooms with a variety of plants and flowers as well as massive snails. Super fun. We didn’t pay for the audio tour so can’t say if that would be worth it. The one downside was without the audio tour there was almost no information about the plants, just their names and Latin names.

The building itself is very unique and breathtaking. There are lots of spots for great photo shoots (in terms of architecture and flora). (Translated by Google) I would not recommend this restaurant to you. An excellent idea - green, beautiful. But this place needs renovation for a long time. Looks like a canteen in the USSR. You sit down at the table - and you are warned about some payment per person. Not really a start. Self-respecting restaurants do not do this: maximum - they add 10 percent for service, but they do not warn about this when boarding. You feel at least strange. And when you say that yes, you sit down at the table, and not at the bar, you also meet the surprise of the waiter. Food ... nothing special. At least nothing interesting was offered to us. Service is ok, a forced artificial smile and nothing more. Well, at least they brought food. We left a tip out of respect for the work, but there was little sincerity and interest. The potential of the place is good, and there are a lot of visitors, but I think this is intended for tourists who simply will not come a second time.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful place with rich vegetation. The building itself has an interesting architecture and a wonderful, sometimes even tropical, climate. Worth the ticket, combined price can be achieved in conjunction with the zoo. Palan Schonbrun also looks interesting depending on the season :) (Original) Przepiekne miejsce z bogata roslinnoscia. (Translated by Google) I recommend it to everyone who visits the palace complex. The Palm House enchanted us with its beauty, the scent of flowers and the magic of the colors. After a day of sightseeing, the perfect place to rest - there are benches and chairs where you can sit - although very tropical climates. (Original) Polecam każdemu kto odwiedza kompleks pałacowy. Palmiarnia zachwyciła nas swoim pięknem, zapachem kwiatów i magią kolorów. An amazing place to visit in the morning. The greenhouse looks amazing when the sun shines through it. Inside there's a vast collection of plants from around the world. Anyone who likes plants and nature should visit it.

Amazing treasure hidden in the Schönbrunn Gardans - so beautiful building! Established in 1882, this huge, airy greenhouse with 3 pavilions showcases many exotic plants. The Schönbrunn Palm House was the last of its type to be constructed in continental Europe. You must see the place with your eyes - you will feel in the meadle of the jungle! Take your time and make photos!

Nice greenhouse divided into 3 sections: one full of scented plants, one heated, and the main one. Not worth more than 20-30 minutes although it is nice to sit inside on the benches and relax, taking in the sights, smells, and sounds.

We visited this place on Sunday. The building looked phenomenal. Nice big exemplars of araucaria, strelitzia and also palm. We did not understand why there were lots of hortenzia, it did not go with the palms. But for walking and seeing some big exemplars it was very nice. Thank you.

Great place for a nice stroll. Bought the ticket package for the zoo that had tickets for this and the desert house. Went with my 8 year old, and even after hours walking around in the zoo, he had a good time checking out the plants here with me. Only spent maybe half an hour here, but worth it in any case.

In my opinion there is not so much interesting inside of this building and it’s not worth paying additional money - I’d personally rather spend more time in the main zoo. There are many plants but most of them are just green, not blooming and don’t seem special. Maybe I am just not knowledgeable enough but I wouldn’t go there again

When you enter this place you feel like you are entering a heaven. There are many flowers and trees from different species. It was unbelieveable that different types of flowers can live together. This place was actively used as a garden during winter for people used to live in in the palace decades ago.

  • 5/5 Buster W. 1 year ago on Google
This was a great experience. Many plants you don’t see in this area of the wild flourishing in 3 different climates separated into rooms. I highly recommend to get a ticket to this and the “desert”.
