Outstanding. We’ve been to museums all over Europe and the US, and this is one of my favorites. It’d be easy to spend 5-6 hours here. There are thousands upon thousands of specimens meticulously displayed and easy to enjoy. Anyone really into geology, gemstones, or meteorites will have an especially good time. We visited around lunch on a Monday and walked in without wait. The only downside to weekday crowds are the massive tour groups of all-but-unaccompanied children on school trips.

Such a good activity in a rainy afternoon. They have an incredible collection of minerals - for me the best part. I really think it'd impressive. Also a nice activity to do with kids.

This museum is wonderful. We went on a whim, my husband and I, and very much enjoyed our visit. Pretty much all exhibits were in English too. A few were not but you can easily use Google Translate. The building alone is beautiful. We did go close to opening on a Sunday and I’d recommend being there at opening too. It wasn’t crowded and it didn’t take long to get in. When we came out there was quite a line to get in. Price to get in was also very reasonable. For anyone wondering, yes at this time you must wear a mask while inside the museum.

Absolutely amazing! All the kids were impressed by everything. Highly recommended for any age and you can find a bit if everything. I did a quick tour around everything and spent 3h easily. There is coffee inside where you can stop a bit with children to eat something or just take a break.

Wonderful Museum that puts to shame so many “modern” museums. The amazing huge crystal collection was a great way to start. Multimedia was integrated c into real meteorite collections. Animated full size raptor was cleverly unexpected. The building is superb. Relaxing and gracious cafe upstairs.

Stunning collection of rocks, minerals and gems. One could spend the whole day and not get through it all! This beautiful building has exhibitions for everyone in the family. What a fantastic, informative way to spend the day! Did I mention the rocks…?

A nice museum to visit. The rock collection and the early European cultures exhibitions are great. The animals section not so much. Overall definitely worth visiting. The Venus is a must see artefact.

This is an excellent Natural History Museum, and tells familiar stories (such as how different strands of human divided and spread, or how different animals hunt) in new, engaging ways. We ended up spending far longer than expected here, and there was still plenty left if we ever return. I highly recommend visiting, and especially appreciated the gallery of "behind the scenes" photos, showing all the storage rooms that usually can't be seen. All the newer exhibits are also in English, but many of the historic animal specimens will only have their original language without any additional explanation. Whilst the entrance can look very busy, it's mostly large tour groups, and you can buy tickets online instantly to skip the queue.

The place is magnificent. A very impressive collection. The building itself is also beautiful. Was there with kids and they loved it. Was actually the first thing we saw in Vienna. The shop offers very nice souvenirs, and among them paper craft and stickers set which I personally love. Very satisfied with the visit.

Amazing things too see. But visiting in such heat, with no AC was torture. We didn't manage to enjoy the whole museum like we wanted to. I would want to rate the expected as a 2 star, but the museum is too amazing to give it any less. We will be back on another vacation here when the temperature is better

Very interesting museum. With a lot of interactive presentations and videos on the first floor. Prepare for a long journey through the natural history of our planet - from minerals, meteorites, fossils through dinosaurs and other ancient animals to almost every present form of life on Earth. One day is not enough to explore everything so I would like to come back again and spend more time in this wonderful museum.

Unbelievable natural history museum filled with wonders. It still retains its original layout and cabinets so you really get to see how the original researchers wanted it displayed. The building is magnificent and has artwork that matches and enhances the items on display. This is a great museum for adults and kids alike.

An awesome museum with an impressive and wholesome collections of precious items. Love the flow of the exhibits beginning with mineral stones, how earth is formed and down to its animal exhibitions. Lovely and magnificent exhibits. Highly recommended for anyone who is keen on natural history.

This museum is incredibly beautiful and has remarkable collections of minerals and animals. The building itself is stunning. There are lots of interactive exhibits that are great for extending learning. Most of the museum has information in both German and English, but some of the animal halls have plaques only in German. The gift shop has lots of nice and unusual gifts. The cafe is gorgeous, but I would skip it if I visit again. The meal of the day (chicken schnitzel with potatoes) was affordable, but completely tasteless and was marked a euro lower on the menu than we were charged. The price of drinks was laughable - one 75 cl bottle of water for €7.80 or €4.20 for 33 cl. Yes, I remember the prices because they were so absurd. 😒 We would definitely return, but would just bring a sandwich and bottle of water with us. Oh, lockers fill super fast, so get there when they open if you want one. We arrived an hour after opening and they were completely full.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. This museum is the physical embodiment of an embarrassment of riches, all of which are beautifully and efficiently laid out from the smallest rock to the largest dinosaur. It is also considerably less crowded than the art history museum, which is quite odd considering the quality and quantity of the exhibits. One would require at least 3-4 hours just to walk through and sight each object exhibited (not even reading any of the placards), and likely significantly more if small children are involved. A must see for any visitor to Vienna, especially on a rainy day.

A fantastic building which houses an incredible number of natural artefacts. Time meant that we focused on the dinosaurs - which are of course madly cool and deeply impressive. But don’t skip out the Ascent of Man section - the display of Bronze Age mining was frankly awe-inspiring.

We had an absolute blast there! OK, the queue in front of the building was mind-blowing, but I could buy the tickets online and beat the queue in 3 minutes. Inside, well, I was utterly surprised how many people were already there. The exhibitions are staggeringly beautiful, lots of them were interactive and aimed at catching the attention of little kids. I mean, you had a tool that you could use to blow up a volcano, totally Wile E. Coyote style. If there were 6 stars, I would give them all.

It is the best nature museum I have ever seen in my life. This museum is full of different unique and interactive things. You can try to throw an asteroid on our planet to see the effect, you can create a volcano eruption and you may try to lift an asteroid. And believe me, even the smallest is very hard to lift it. All in all, this place is really wonderful!

Great museum with a lot to discover and to learn, located in a beautiful building. It is quite time consuming, we planned around 4 hours for our visit and the time still wasn't enough. We visited here in summer and as there is no air condition it is quite warm inside. As someone here im the reviews already suggested, it is better to start from the upper floor when you're still full of energy, and only visit the lower floor at the end as on the top floor there are the most interesting exhibits. All in all a great experiencw for fair price.

Jaw dropping experience a must see for kids and adults a like. EXTENSIVE collection for 12€ is totally worth it. We visited on weekday to avoid the crowd but its such a huge museum so it really doesn't matter. But the dinosaur exhibit tend to be crowded. ⭐ Coffee shop ⭐ Gift shop ⭐ Locker room for students ⭐ Recommend

Simply awesome setup! We were not able to run through the museum thoroughly due to closing time (whats up with early closing times here tho?) but, what we saw was just amazing! When you enter the museum you are walking through the earth’s history from creation and the period when earth was just a rock (showing minerals, sediments and other geological materials) through simple life forms to modern days human… Tickets were around 20 euros if I’m not mistaken and it takes approximately 2 hours to run through it all. When you are finished with a tour the outside park is just to wish for to get some rest with a beautiful views :) Highly recommended!

Beautiful place that describes specifically about the creation of the universe. The thing is that the museum is so big that at one point you just stop reading all the explanations and keep on walking between the halls. In addition, in my opinion the part on the second floor, where all the taxidermy animals were at, was pointless... But overall, great museum that worth the money. You can easily spend 3-5 hours there.

Unfortunately there are no access ramps. Also unfortunately the person from the access control took our tickets "throwing them to the garbage bin". The garderobe guy asked for a "donation" for "stuff coffee". The museum is wonderful, well structured and very technologically connected.

An amazing museum! One of the best I've been to, regarding nature. The museum building was built just like a palace, it has two floors, divided into different exhibition halls. The first floor, near the entrance to the museum, has a display of gems, minerals, and meteorites (the largest collection in the world). Next to it is a display of fossils and dinosaur skeletons. Next is a display of the Ice Age, and then an exhibition of the evolution and human development, tools etc. At the far end of the floor is the new planetarium building - the observatory, where films related to the galaxy and astronomy are projected. On the second floor there is one of the largest exhibition of stuffed animals, birds, insects, terrestrial mammals and aquatic animals. All collected from around the world. Some of the stuffed animals there have become completely extinct. Highly recommended! * Please note that it is prohibited to take pictures inside the museum.

This place is huge and has a lot to see. We were able to go through the whole place in an afternoon. There were several minerals, bugs, and animals to look at. This was one of the largest natural history museums that I have ever seen. They have most of the signs in both German and English. As you go to the older exhibits, the signs were only in German. I didn't feel like young children would enjoy this museum. Buy tickets in advance to avoid waiting. Audio tours are available, but we just looked on our own. They have lockers for 3 euros and you get your money back when you put the key back in the key hole.

Visited a lot of Natural History Museums and was not disappointed by it! It is easy to navigate into it and the collection is really well arranged and diverse. Plus, the place itself is amazing and the stairs incredible. A place to visit for sure even if it's only for the architecture.

Probably the best museum in Vienna. Big collection of animals and even bigger in rocks. Some dinosaurs too, and a cool cafe / restaurant in the middle. Like all good museums, you leave your stuff in lockers before you begin, so you don't get weighed down as you tour the exhibition. Also it's easily accessible by metro.

I have to describe it with one word; Endless! The museum has awesome content, and I would have loved to have seen everything; however, the temperature was about 30°C inside, and I felt dehydrated. Why I'm not giving five stars is just because the museum could have set up more fan units 🌬️ so that the visitors could cool down. Other than the unbearable temperature, the Museum of Natural History is a great museum 🙏 Great Job Vienna! 🥇

Very Impressed! We took our son (2 years old) who is very interested in dinosaurs and we had a wonderful experience! We spent most of the time in the Dino room. He was very excited and he loved it! I highly recommend this place if you have kids who are interested in Dinosaurs. The other exhibitions are very interesting too. They had a big display of sharks which my son really liked. It’s a bit difficult to go around the museum in detail with a toddler but if I was there alone I could easily spend 2-3 hours looking at everything in detail. We arrived 5 mins before opening time on a Sunday morning. It felt like we were the only ones in the room at some times but when we were leaving there were lots of people lining up to buy tickets so you’ll get a better experience if you go early in the morning. We sat at the museum cafe for coffee and cake. Nice experience. Friendly service and good food and drinks. We also took the stroller and left it in the stroller parking area near the entrance. But if you need to go around with the stroller there is a lift so it’s possible. The museum is barrier free. I will definitely buy an annual pass next time because it’s a great place to take my child and spark his curiosity.

I dropped in as something to do in Vienna and am so glad that I did. The collection is so extensive and well worth the time to wander through. Not to mention the architecture is also stunning throughout the building. It can get quite busy so I recommend pre purchasing tickets online so that you can walk straight in. I paid €16 for an adult ticket and it was well worth it. Visit took about 2.5 hours total.

    • Last Visit • Monday, October 2023 • Cost • €16 per Adult ticket • RSVP • Walk-in • Details • There are 39 rooms across 2 floors, inside this beautiful architecture. Showing the evolution of the mother earth. Displaying over 100K+ exhibits from minerals, fossils to animal specimen. The museum is just 5-10 minutes walk from the Spanish Riding School. • Feedback • Definitely worth the visit! I was amazed by how organized the Stone and Quartz area was set up and it is an extensive collection. Highly recommend to collectors who are interested to know the categories or formation of the quartz. This is my favourite part of the museum. The animal specimen on the upper level also reminds me the movie “Night at the museum”!

This is a really cool museum! If you like minerals, hold on to your hat...there are rooms and rooms of minerals from all over the world. This was my favorite section. The dinosaurs and bronze age exhibits were very well done. The rest of the museum had cool stuff too, there were a couple of gnarly looking birds. A must stop if you are in town.

Surprisingly, even though it is much less famous, I've found this museum to be better, prettier, and with better expositions than its more famous London counterpart. I was thinking of spending 1 or 2 hours there, and ended up staying almost the whole day. Lovely ❤️

A great museum and must visit on a trip to Vienna. The mammals and dinosaurs were brilliant. As an English speaker there was also lots of information in English along side German making international visitors very welcome. We also ate lunch. The venue was breath taking and the food delicious. A great place to visit.

It's a must visit place. An amazing collection. Make sure you have prebooked the tickets and keep ample time. Do not come with luggage or heavy bags if possible. Lockers were all occupied when we had gone. You have to walk a lot to enjoy this huge and interesting museum. There are 3 large floors with different sections for animals, birds etc. Dinosaur fossils are a highlight. Worth spending money.

This is a fabulous natural history museum, housed in a magnificent building. As you go through it there are interactive exhibits to keep kids amused (some of which are fun for adults as well). Be warned, it will take a while. There is a cafe in the gorgeous central rotunda but it seems to close about an hour before the official closing time. Late night opening is Wednesday.

The Natural History Museums never fail to be a great day out. So much to see & lots of interactive bits for kids (and adults). Plan ahead and book a ticket though as weekends are busy (we left on Sunday as the queue was out the door) and lots of school trips also. Weekdays are definitely better if you can. It is free in England though - you have to pay for this one and the upper deck is additional so investigate your options before arriving.

Very interesting museum with great exhibitions. You need around 2-3 hours if you want to really go through the museum and pay attention to most things on exhibition. The tour starts with 4 spacious rooms with stones from all over the world. Then, you proceed to rooms with meteorites and animals. I have a feeling that everyone can learn something about the nature and earth here.

This is one of my favourite museums ever, there's so much stuff that you could visit it every day and not get bored. The collection of minerals was my favourite, just be prepared to spend a good amount of time in there. I initially planned 2 hours there and I still wasn't able to see everything I wanted to go see.

Beautiful museum in a impressive building. We went on a Saturday and it was very busy, definitely recommend buying the tickets online in advance to avoid lines. The cloak room was also very busy. Overall nice exhibitions but at some point it became a bit repetitive. The arctic exhibition is definitely a recommendation!!

  • 5/5 Bryan H. 4 years ago on Google
Absolutely worth the price of admission. Two HUGE floors that are mind blowing. The gems and minerals alone took us 90 min to rush through. The taxidermy sections of the birds and insects was beautifully done. The dinosaur fossils were presented well and frankly more than I expected from a small museum here in eastern Europe. Make sure to use your discount from the Tourist Pass Card if you have it. Even the cafe was reasonably priced.

Great museum, visited their permanent exhibit and loved it. It showcases a great variety of topics, going from minerals, eras, animals to human history and evolution. Amazing pieces, you can easily spend a couple of hours wandering around the different rooms. I think it was well worth the 12 euros (entrance fee for 1 adult).

It’s very interesting and modern museum. Price for entrance was 12 euros per person (2020). And it’s not so expensive for such a huge and old place with modern technology to interact visitors. Dinosaurs and realistic copies of prehistoric people with amazing details and quality are worth to go here. I definitely recommend to visit this place!

Beautiful building with fantastic collections of taxidermy, meteorites, crystals and rocks. Nice cafe. My only complaint is that the air conditioning was not sufficient. The warmth and slight stuffiness made me rush to get through rooms to find any open window.

  • 5/5 Aneel M. 2 years ago on Google
This place has an amazing collection of just about everything. Not only is the content there great, but the building itself is amazing. The only downside to this place is the lack of air conditioning. It can get quite hot in here midday.

  • 5/5 Brian B. 2 years ago on Google
Incredibly beautiful building with an exhaustive collection of stuffed animals, geology and a planetarium. The beautiful cafe is only rivaled on this earth by the one across the platz in the art museum. I found the overall effect to be trippy and fascinating. There is only one place like this on earth. Definitely worth a visit!

The museum of nature history was founded over 270 years ago.  With the motto "Dedicated to the kingdom of nature and its exploration", this museum holds a lot of different exhibitions from minerals and meteorites to dinosaurs, first humans and finally to the present time fauna. This variety walks you through the history from the birth of life till its final establishing. Now (July 2021), there is also a special exhibition about the food waste. I found it very informative. There are a lot of interactive elements that keep your interest at a high level -- interactive digital dashboards for looking at the stages of Earth land formation, a volcano pump for waking up a volcano, simulation of consequences of a meteorite fall, and many more. Almost all information is presented in English. Be ready to spend here at least two hours. For me, three hours was not enough.

Very big museum, you could easily spend a whole day there if you look at everything! Unfortunately very well visited and lots of people - therefore quite noisy! Still a great visit though.

  • 5/5 Alexandra D. 2 years ago on Google
Visited this museum in the morning and timing was great. There were just a few people so we could look peacefully at everything. Don’t know if there are permanent or temporary, but there were two interesting exhibitions one with dinosaurs and one with rocks, stones and minerals

  • 4/5 Greg K. 2 years ago on Google
The museum is big, informative and nicely decorated. While there are a lot to see for tourists, most descriptions aren't in English, it has a lack of places to seat, so it is hard to view in one go and many photos will have reflections. In our visit at early hours the museum was very lively and bustling. Overall it was a good experience.

Be prepared for a lot of walking and standing! This museum is quite the time capsule, so parents be advised, as children may run past a lot of the exhibits. I could’ve spent hours in the geology exhibit which showcases many of the worlds gems, geodes, and precious metals. The animal portion of the museum was one for the ages, and had many, and I mean many animals (taxidermies) that I have never heard of which were finely showcased though a lot of the exhibit did not have English descriptions so be wary of that. As I said be prepared for a lot of walking and or standing due to there not being much seating available in the exhibits, and on a busy day that the cafe has limited tables.

  • 4/5 Simeon T. 2 years ago on Google
Nice large museum. Had a great exhibit of taxidermied animals including a variety of birds of paradise which is pretty unusual. The blown glass jellyfish, seaslugs and cephalopods were very interesting as well though somewhat inaccurate. Most of the large dinosaur fossils were casts but all the big boys were represented and they had a good number of smaller fossils as well as good ice age and mineralogical exhibits.

  • 5/5 Heather F. 1 year ago on Google
Great museum!! There’s all natural displays of rocks and meteors and mineral and animals and insects and birds and fossils etc. The museum has received an award for taxidermy. So you can expect it’s going to be good! A amazing display natural diversity blows my mind. There’s also a cafe that you can eat and drink at. I had the beef goulash soup which was great!

I've been to tons of museums in a number of different countries... And I can confidently say that this one is the best museum I've ever been to, without a doubt. Their massive collection is housed in a gorgeous building, and the displays are beautiful, informative, and very clear without ever bordering into tacky. For English tourists, there are a good amount of English translations!

Impressive variety displayed of the natural world, all the way from cristals, compounds, local and fallen rocks.. to dinosaur fossils and replication, stuffed/preserved mammals, reptilians, fishes, birds, insects, plants.. would recommend to visit, cool program for a few hours. No line at the ticket booth on a Sunday afternoon. Only downside was the high entrance fee.

One of the best museums in Viena. You can find very large collections from all oven the work - all kind of stone, crystals, minerals, a lot of dinosaurs - very magnificent and very large collections of all kind of animals from dinosaurs to today time animals. Entrance fee - adults 14.99, children free

I've recently been there with my parents. It's really, really nice to visit and fun for the whole family (old and young) to get to know so many species of rocks and animals. The venue itself is so astonishing with all that marble and statues. Bathrooms were clean, people at the entrance were very nice and the cafe/restaurant has good prices. The only thing we noticed is that some areas were very warm and some fresh air (even from windows, if possible) could have helped us stay longer, but apart from that, we loved it all.

  • 5/5 Ana P. 1 year ago on Google
A wonderfully large museum with many interactive features. Their dinosaur exhibit is the reason I visited this museum twice already and probably will again sometime in the future! A big plus is the many seats and sofas throughout the museum, you can rest for a bit and continue with exploring

  • 5/5 Zachary C. 1 year ago on Google
The mineral section rocked. Impressive collection of rocks and minerals which took us an hour to go through. The animal and fossil section was fantastic. It would be nice if the signs implied which was real and which was a model. As it's such a touristy place, it would be great to have more information in English. So long, and thanks for all the fossils

  • 5/5 Sofia B. 1 year ago on Google
It’s an amazing place. I spent there 4 hours but could have easily spent more. The building itself is amazing. There are numerous paintings above the exhibitions. The exhibitions themselves are very intuitively ordered, very interesting and there are many interactive “games” that visitors can “play”, such as seeing how they would look as a prehistoric human. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only problem was that the “Earth” exhibit and the planetarium were closed.

Very good museum to spend time with your kids and family. Well maintained with lot of cool wild life models including dinosaurs. It was bit crowded but still we were able experience everything to the fullest. We spent almost 4 hours without rushing and our kid had lot of play time as well. Moving T-Rex 🦖 is the highlight of the museum and kids love it!

Absolutely amazing and one of the best natural history museums in the world. The collection is vast and comprehensive covering the evolution of Homo sapiens and all the animals. They have lockers make sure you have a 1 or 2€ coin with you. The dinosaur exhibit is amazing, and the collection of birds, fish, and animals. The taxidermy of the animals make you really appreciate how big and how amazing these animals are. Worth checking out

Amazing museum, beautiful architecture, stunning Wall paintings and statues! The curated shelves are wonderful and you really feel the historical vibes. The dinosaurs exhibits are very good as well. Lots of interactive and modern additions to help the visitor travel back in time. Also time flies while you're in there, there are simply so many things to view! I will definitely visit again!

Excellent collection of items in a spectacular building. Superb crystal and mineral collection. Great taxidermy. Museology is still a bit old-style. The old wooden vitrines with old unpolished reflective glass are "vintage" but create a distance which feels strange in a 21st century museum. There are new materials and techniques available to protect the exhibits today which are not so intrusive. The practice of closing rooms at the end of loops and forcing visitors to retrace their steps through a huge area is not ideal. Eco-friendly toilets are great but need not smell so bad...

A very interesting place. Huge collection of minerals, lots of animal examples and some interactive touches. My girlfriend and i had a great time. The building itself is beautiful and has many amazing paintings. The Museum is air-conditioned. I recommend taking something to drink with you, because you will spend here ar least 2 hours. I also appreciate Polish accent in the form of Polish Bison.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Natural History Museum in Vienna, and I must say it was an absolutely captivating experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported into a world of wonder and discovery. The museum's collection is truly remarkable, showcasing a diverse range of exhibits that cover various aspects of natural history. Whether it was the awe-inspiring dinosaur skeletons, the beautifully preserved fossils, or the extensive displays on geology and astronomy, every corner of the museum was filled with fascinating artifacts and information. What truly impressed me was the attention to detail and the quality of the exhibits. Each display was meticulously curated, providing a wealth of knowledge and insight into the natural world. The interactive elements and multimedia presentations added an extra layer of engagement, making the learning experience both informative and entertaining. The layout of the museum was well-designed, allowing for a seamless flow from one exhibit to another. The signage and information panels were clear and informative, providing context and background information that enriched my understanding of the exhibits. I would highly recommend setting aside at least 2-3 hours to explore the Natural History Museum. This timeframe allows ample time to immerse oneself in the exhibits, read the informative plaques, and fully appreciate the depth and breadth of the collection. Additionally, there are also special temporary exhibitions that are worth checking out, offering a fresh perspective on various aspects of natural history. Overall, the Natural History Museum in Vienna is an absolute gem for anyone with an interest in the natural world. Its extensive collection, well-curated exhibits, and engaging presentation make it a must-visit destination. Whether you're a science enthusiast, a history buff, or simply curious about the wonders of our planet, this museum will leave you inspired and eager to learn more.

This is one of the most important natural history museums in the world. 250 years old with more than 100000 objects shown. It’s a research center. It takes around half a day to quickly finish it. There is cafe inside and rest rooms and small place to park your stroller. Below 19 is free.

Vast museum with almost neverending exhibits, can very easily get lost in the exhibits and spend way too much time here! The staff are kind, even if the building can get a little hot, seasonal exhibits as well as permanent exhibits are fascinating. The dinosaur room is obviously a highlight in many people's journeys!

  • 5/5 Holly G. 8 months ago on Google
best natural history museum in the world (personally). The earth science section was incredibly well done in multiple languages to a way that appealed to all demographics. The largest collection of birds I have ever seen as well ! The building it is in is just as beautiful as the things in it, amazing way to see Austrian architecture. Would be recommending to anyone who goes to Austria

Housed in an opulent neo-Renaissance building, Vienna's Natural History Museum is home to over 30 million objects, showcasing the world's rich tapestry of biodiversity, evolution, and Earth's history. With exhibits ranging from prehistoric fossils and dazzling minerals to the extensive anthropological collection, it offers a comprehensive journey through time. Tips: Allocate at least two hours to fully appreciate the museum.

  • 3/5 FLnurseER1 6 months ago on Google
Impressive building unfortunately with partly covered areas due to construction/renovations, completely surrounded by construction trucks and equipment. The is a cute bronze sculpture of an elephant donated by local artist in front of the building. We did not go in.

  • 3/5 Ari H. 6 months ago on Google
Building itself was quite stunning. There was a very large collection of stones, meteorites etc. and quite a lot information about animals (especially birds) and humans. I would of appreciated if there would of been more about prehistoric times (mostly dinosaurs).

  • 4/5 G M. 6 months ago on Google
The natural history museum was pretty interesting overall. The dinosaurs were the best part along with the gemstones. The whole top floor is just deceased animals, so it was a tad bit morbid and lacked some descriptions of animals to expand the purpose. The museum was also very warm, as I believe they do not have air conditioning. Would recommend but be prepared to do without air conditioning on hotter days.

  • 5/5 Rob S. 5 months ago on Google
The building architecture alone is worth the entry price! The variety of exhibit and the quality of many of the dioramas is absolutely stunning and best in class! We got here early and had completed the upper floor in almost complete silence, will remember that experience for the rest of my life.

I spent 4hrs in the museum and still didn't see everything but I will say that I learnt that I'm really into rocks and they had a very extensive rock /mineral collection with lots of informative displays on different types of rock formations, origin etc. If you don't spend as much time as me looking at EVERY single rock and reading every description then you can probably cover the museum in 3-3.5 hours. They also had quite a few interactive boards and displays which were fun to use, really informative and mostly child friendly. I especially enjoyed the meteor strike simulator! They were not so many dinosaur fossils or models at this museum (as opposed to other Natural history museums) but the ones they did have were quite cool I think. I also really enjoyed the section on human evolution and the zoologist section (which was almost the entire second floor) And when you're there don't forget to look up! In many of the display rooms there's art on the walls near the ceilings and/or intricately carved statues a detail which can easily be overlooked given how exciting the displays right in front of you are :)

  • 5/5 Lucija L. 5 months ago on Google
We spent a wonderful afternoon in this museum. The children were fascinated by the contents, especially, of course, the dinosaur part. A nice combination of classic setup and multimedia update. The price is realistic and justified by all the beauties that can be seen. You won't regret visiting this museum, but definitely take your time.

My all-time favorite nature history museum! The building itself is a masterpiece, from the entrance to the rich decor of walls and ceilings of every room. The collection is rich and constructed in a very logical way - from minerals through the beginning of life on Earth to dinosaurs, humans, fish, birds, animals. It's also interactive here and there for kids to play. Been there a few times, will come again once in Vienna :)

  • 5/5 anthony s. 4 months ago on Google
Such a fantastic museum! They have the most impressive mineral and fossil exhibits that I have ever seen. My daughter completely loved the experience and I did too! The building is gorgeous on its own without the exhibits, but they do a fantastic job presenting the evolution of life, the formation of the planet, and the interconnectedness of everything. Well worth it!

This place is really worth the visit! There is so much to see and read that you could easily spend hours in every room. Important to know that luggage/bag lockers need 1€ or 2€ in order to close but you will get the money back. They have lockers for small bags and even big suitcases. Wardrobe is free but they ask for a small donation, which ofcourse you can refuse.
