Beautiful Baroque style church to visit. Currently undergoing some renovations but still amazing. There is an elevator inside that takes you up into the dome to view the amazing murals of the dome up close. From the dome elevator it’s a slight walk up spiral steps to access the outside base of the dome. Amazing views of the city from this vantage point. Cost of admission is 8 Euros

Truly breathtaking church. The views from the viewing platform aren't that good to be truthful but the architecture of the interior is mind boggling. It's absolutely worth an hour of your time and well worth the entrance fee. All sides have ornate paintings and decorations.

What an amazing church. You have to pay entrance fee. The panorama few with the elevator is unique and just till 2.11.22 there. It’s worth it. I really love the St. Agnes chapel just to sit and pray, meditate or be alone with your thoughts. I love the architecture and the spirit this place has for me. I could spend hours there just to sit and enjoy the music when they play the Orgel and look at the paintings

This church is a magnificent elliptical underneath a glorious dome, filled with light. The stonework and gold accents create this amazing sense of peace and glory. Truly one of the finest churches of the Baroque. I went twice - once during the day and once during the evening for a concert. I definitely recommend both. The church is an excellent venue for a classical music concert and the acoustics are quite good - but to see the church properly you have to visit during the day when you can really explore. You have the option of going to an upper terrace. I wouldn't go any higher than the organ where you get a nice view of the church interior; the upper terrace at the base of the dome has a rather unremarkable view.

The Church of St. Charles makes an amazing impression from the outside, a large building with two huge columns and a dome. Inside, the impression is even bigger, the incredible wealth of interior decorations is absolutely breathtaking. Possibility to enter the panoramic terrace with a nice view of the city. The ticket is 9.50€, some people will say it's expensive... but I guarantee you won't regret it after this visit.

One of the most interesting and beautiful churches in Vienna. It is also a wonderful place to hang out at night with the reflecting pool, palm trees and a small bar plus sometimes a spritz mobile a set up in the park in front of the church. There is an incredible and relaxing atmosphere. The church is a wonderful work of art mixing many styles. Truly a gem in the city and not something to miss.

Beautiful church I was on a concert inside and it was magnificent. Facts about the church: Widely considered the most outstanding baroque church in Vienna, as well as one of the city's greatest buildings, the church is dedicated to Saint Charles Borromeo, one of the great counter-reformers of the sixteenth century.

I am not going to lie: entering this church feels like entering heaven. We went there close to the opening so there was nearly nobody and it might be the best decision I have ever made. Few can rival Vienna's magnificent churches and this one is another proof of that. In addition to the main altar, the panoramic terrace of which we can observe the city is also gorgeous. Totally worth the entry fee.

Visit this beautiful church, its amazing inside, there is some renovation works being carried out, but its still worth visiting. There is a small charge to pay, but its completely worth it. The church was built to remember the victims of the black plague. The architecture inside is amazing, outside is beautiful too especially with the reflections from the water feature. Also take the elevator to the dome at the top, there is a viewing window with far reaching views of the city. Although it's not in the centre of Vienna, it's definitely worth seeing, especially inside 👌

Absolutely stunning. More magnificent up front. We also went to a Vivaldi consort. Magnificent building. Truly spectacular. Nice sitting area outside where people were casually chilling out.

We had the most amazing concert inside the church. Worth the money definitely. Hearing Vivaldi inside this amazing church just gives you goosebumps. Definitely one an experience someone should not miss.

I was startled by how detailed the outside wall and the figures stones were being craved. The church looked like it was touching the sky. I fancy the turquoise green color on the top dome because it seemed elegant and artistic. Apart from that, I know they preserve the building much that was why I could still see the bright color of this historic building. They provided a classical concert in the evening inside, but I couldn't afford it 🥲

A Roman Catholic Church in Vienna. Baroque and Rococo architectural style, since the early of the 1700s. The design is unique as well as the architectural elements!

Absolutely beautiful church! I’m not sure if there’s an entrance fee normally, but it was free when we visited (there was construction going on inside the church, maybe that’s why). The architecture inside is breathtaking. Definitely worth paying a visit!

Very near to Karlsplatz U Bahn station, accessible by Bus ,tram and all means of public transport. It is a must visit in Vienna for its architecture. € 10 is the entry fee ,but we'll worth, as we can climb and see the panaromic view of Vienna Skyline. A casual stroll around this church is recommended.

Really worth the visit, just remember to bing 9.5€ in cash to pay the ticket. If you are in a group with 6 people, each one pay 7.5€ instead. If you want you can talk to someone before enter to enter together so you all pay less.

We went to the church to attend a musical orchestra. Arrived there before time, took our tickets and spend the time walking around the church. The size is grand compared to the church in the centre like St.peter’s church. There is a fountain upfront and creates wonderful reflections of the church, at night needs more lighting, it got dark and hard to see around the park. The interior is bright and heavily decorated with golden motifs and brown stones. Baroque style.

The murals and fresco work make it worth the time. You can get good shots from the roof of the skyline capturing the spheres St.Stephans and Vienna Cathedral. There's fee to visit and stretch yourself before. Legs will get a workout climbing stairs to access certain areas of the murals and frescoes via scaffolding type stairs. There is an elevator to reach top access point.

An imposing church built to remember the passing of the last great plague epidemic in Vienna. The church is a large one, visible from afar. It has two large pillars in front of it, in homage to the temple of Solomon, but modelled after Trajan’s Column in Rome. It is not free to enter, but the entrance fee allows one to climb to a viewpoint between the towers and see the plaza from there. The interior is richly decorated, with symbolism everywhere and if one enjoys seeing churches or old architecture, it is worth visiting.

This cathedral is really beautiful 🤩 and gorgeous!!! Had to pay 9 euros to get in and see the roof top which is ok, nothing great. The interior is really beautiful and ornate.

If you are into Baroque style churches Karlskirche is a must if you are in Vienna. You need a ticket to enter outside of church services. The cost of admission is 8 euros. A small computed booklet filled with pictures and very interesting information about the church is included in the price. Inside you can take the panorama lift up into the dome to view the stunning murals and frescos. You can also climb to the church terrace for a view over Karlsplatz.

One of the most beautiful churches that you can see ... amazing beauty in terms of exterior and interior design with the use of a special and distinguished granite that adds to the interior design a breathtaking beauty and the artwork of the church is amazing

Always worth seeing. Was built when the plague was over in 1750 or so. Interesting concept for that time. Great view from the dome. Wonder if there will be a post COVID church any time soon

£5 for student to enter. The view from the top is not that good. There's a construction on going at the front of the cathedral. Nevertheless, great internal architecture and really worth a visit.

There aren't many churches that I've come across that you have to pay to get in. However from what I can remember, the cost for admission wasn't too bad. The have a lift inside the church (that I will admit detracts from the beauty) that allows you to view the church ceiling up close. What a cool feature!

One of the most beautiful churches i have visited! In some seasons, there are classical concerts inside in the evening which is amazing! Also in the square in front of the church, there are nice lake and atmosphere.

A beautiful church profaned by postmodernist garbage. The 18th century frescoes are obscured by a meaningless jumble of neon lights (that the church PAID for, what were they thinking?!). The pamphlet they handed out spoke highly of the art “exhibit,” saying that it was influenced by a wide variety of beliefs and religions and is continuing in the spirit of Church patronage of the arts that adorns the rest of the structure. Religious art should be reverent, uplifting and edifying to the viewer and worshipful to God. I cannot believe I paid for entry. Utterly disgusted, Bl. Charles pray for your country.

St Charles Church is where we attended a Vivaldi concert. We were awed by the decor on the outside so you can imagine how jaw-dropping the experience was inside. Magnificently ornate and grand, with decent acoustics despite some repairs under way.

Beautiful church inside and out. Sitting outside affords you an amazing view with buskers often playing close by. I enjoyed sitting inside the church listening to the orchestra practice - and the panoramic view is lovely at sunset

You cannot miss this spot. It's must to visit attraction. We visited during spring and got opportunity to see many tulips. The famous shopping street is just walking distance from the church. There is also a play area for children.

The most beautiful church i have ever seen! Definitely worth a visit, and the price. (5€ for students, 8 normal price). There is even a small museum upstairs that has a lifelike model of the church, old gowns and so on. Viewing terrace had a great view overlooking Vienna.

Expensive to enter but the view from the top is great at any time of the day. The murals and decor are amazing though I still fail to understand why there are so many alters. One or two of the Madonna's see about cheesy....

This place is beautiful and alive all day long. However you must know that this place may clause at 18h but the entrance will close a little bit before 17h30, moreover you have to pay to visit this church unlike most in town

Gorgeous 5 star church with lovely balcony overlooking the city. Interior takes your breath away and it’s near that you can get so close to the organ. 4 stars because it shouldn’t cost $10. Also, they should offer a senior discount.

  • 3/5 Job Van G. 7 months ago on Google
It's a very pretty church on the inside. But 9,50 euro entrance per person is way too much for what you're "getting" to see. There are equally or better churches/abbeys nearby that are either free or better. So unless you really want to see it, i suggest you look at the outside and leave the inside for what it is.

  • 5/5 Nimesh D. 9 months ago on Google
It is a very old and historical church. It was built in the early 18th century by Emperor Charles VI, who made a vow to build a church dedicated to Saint Charles Borromeo if the city was spared from the plague. It is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture, and is one of the most important sacred buildings in Central Europe. It is characterized by its large dome, two giant columns, and elaborate interior. A big water pond is there in front of this church and quite enough space to sit and relax.

  • 3/5 Gabriele “Roger” D. 8 months ago on Google
Nice, somewhat impressive, but excessively expensive. Up to 10 € for an adult is to much and the possibility to see the panorama from the roof is not enough. From an architectural point of view is interesting, the central plant is rare and the cupola is impressive.

  • 5/5 Philip G. 7 months ago on Google
A beautiful church. It is €9.5 to enter per person but it is worth the entrance fee. The church is spectacular inside. It has a treasury and other exhibits and you and visit the viewing platform. If you dont want to pay the admission the church from the outside is a piece of art in its own right. Particularly the spiral columns which are fairly unique.

Majestic church in the heart of Vienna. The dome is really something. When it is dark in late evening, the illumination makes the church more beautiful from outside. The murals inside the church are also memorable.

  • 5/5 Ridhima S. 6 months ago on Google
We visited in the evening for a Vivaldi Four Seasons concert by Orchetra 1756. The church was the perfect setting for the concert since it helped with the acoustics. Grand interiors and amazing baroque architecture. It was gorgeous from the outside as well.

Impressive church that was built as the result of a vow taken by Emperor Charles VI during a plague epidemic. The church is consecrated to the patron saint of the Habsburg emperor, Saint Charles Borromeo. The opulent frescoes in the cupola by Johannes Michael Rottmayr contain 1250 square meters of incredible splendor and beautiful colors; they show the glory of Saint Charles Borromeo. Worthy visiting, with no doubt.

Such an amazing church from the outside and the pond makes it even more appealing when it's not winter. Although there is a quite divisive installation inside what ruins the entire interior but also gives access to see the beautifuly made fresco from close. So if you want to enjoy the ceiling from close and the view from one of the windows I recommend to visit before 2022, if you more prefer a traditional looking church, come later. They charge you anyways.

I really loved it!!! The outside and especially the inside has an absolutely incredible architecture. It you like building architecture and religious roof paintings, this church is an absolute must. The entrance fee for adults is 8€ (as far as I remember) and it does include the entrance of a small upstairs museum (stairs!!) where you can see a couple paintings and cloths parts from priests back in the days. At the moment of my visit, the inside of the church hall itself also featured an elevator to take you just under the roof of the painted ceiling. A+++!!! This service is not charged extra for and should not be missed. (not suitable for wheelchair visitors). Bring your warm coat and sweater, the temperature inside the building is quite low due to thick walls (and heat going up the room anyway)

Been there on our visit to Vienna in Sept 2021. Beautiful piece of architecture from outside and inside. Though the lift construct inside spoils the view a little, but makes it possible to make it to the top. One of the landmarks to visit. Afternoon hours weren't too busy there, got in without waiting in line.
