Architekturzentrum Wien offers great changing Exhibitions about contemporary Architecture. There is also a permanent show about Austrian Architecture called Hot Questions – Cold Storage. Also Workshops, Talks and Guided Tours are offered. Metro Stop U2/ U3 around the corner. Architekturzentrumwien is located within Museumsquartier.

Went to their open air cinema film screening last night, which was free, and packed. If you are planning to go to one of these go early to grab a chair. But if not it is also nice to sit and sip a drink in the bar in the same courtyard while watching the films! Also seen a good exhibition there a few years ago, and it looks like there as another good one now, so I'll do back for that!!

A lot of information packed in the permanent exhibition, which can perhaps make it difficult to integrate everything at once. Regardless, very interesting and well explained history of urban planning and architecture in Vienna. Looking at the city from a new point of view after my visit!

Interesting exhibition, but you might need to be into architecture beforehand 😊. Well conceived walkthrough of important styles of architecture, mostly over the past 150 years.

If you are interested in design or in the professions, make this a stop on your way to all the other museums.

Museum is small, but if you have free time it's worth visiting

One of the exhibition places within the museum quarter, one part is about an overview of Vienna architecture throughout the different eras, and the other part is more like a detailed architecture brochure about the effect of world architecture on Vienna. Actually for an architecture student it was a good 3 hours i spent there all together, and it was very interesting informative rather creative and interactive, lots of structural plans and other useful stuff for those who study architecture or civil engineering.

Exhibit on reusing buildings and making them resilient against climate change is really good. A few of the projects included: renovating public housing (keeping tenants in place) to add balconies and garden space, mud wall construction huts that are fired so they fuse together, and Barcelona mega-blocks. Explanations in German and English.

The primary exhibition describes the history of the city development. I like the temporary excision with cool images and explanations

Founded in 1993, the Architekturzentrum Wien (Az W) has been located in Vienna's Museumsquartier since 2001 and is run as an exhibition, event and research centre on architecture and building culture. The topics are architecture and urban development of the 20th and 21st centuries. The Az W was managed from 1993 to 2016 by Dietmar Steiner, director, and Karin Lux, managing director. Steiner retired at the end of 2016. He was succeeded by Angelika Fitz in 2017. The Architekturzentrum Wien is financed by the Federal Chancellery of Austria and the City of Vienna, represented by the municipal departments 7 (Culture) and 18 (Urban Development and Planning).

Very Quiet and small place. Is also opened on a Sunday. Only problem is the price, which is 3 euro. It's ofc not that much, but that's why I only come here on Sundays, because on the other days you can study somewhere else for free.

Rather small facility. Should also have permanent display of Austrian masters, especially Otto Wagner and Hans Hollein.

Amazing museum about the history of urban planning in Vienna, and the role architecture has played.

Beautiful models, but poorly curated museum. Lots over lots of projects, no story to tell.

The museum deserves to be completely remodeled into a modern exhibition. Immediately! Terrible. Exposure without any invention. the exhibition itself is a museum object from the last century.
